I Only Had Eyes for Harkin

There was so many things wrong with this read I can't list them all. So, here's just a few...

The first chapter was difficult to understand what was happening. It didn't have any new world build at all. Why were there refugees from Earth? What was Earth's relationship with Arksis? Example: "I thought this group were all language compatible,” he said, turning back to the admin officer. OR “Although more diverse. English and Arkian are the same language because—”... So, why were they language compatible? This drove my readers' tiny mind berserk!

In the beginning there were so many chapters that were disjointed that I had trouble sorting them out. There was at least three scenes that I had no clue what was going on. I went back paragraphs to see if I had missed something. It got a little better as the story went on, but even so I'm surprised I finished the book.

This read was like taking a reading comprehension test. I really had to wonder if the author's sentence structuring is different because she's from a different country? Her bio doesn't say...

I think I finished this read because I liked Harkin's character so much. He was Alpha but funny and sweet.

And last but not least, the BDSM was light, but I don't care for any of it. So, if you feel the same as I do I can not recommend this story.

The writing structure and poor editing ruined this story for me.

When I finished the book I went to see if perhaps this is a spin off from another series. And, I think this is the author's first story. If that is the case, she definitely needs better beta readers and experienced critique partners.

I really enjoyed Anna’s and Harkin’s story it’s not about human females getting abducted story it’s a story where human females get genetic tested so they can go and live on the planet Arkian, once they arrive their genetics are changed so they can become a Arkian. Anna and Harkin are very attracted to each other but Harkin is a guardian he is there to help Anna he thought that having a fated mate was just a tale until he met Anna. There is so much more going on in this fantastic story it has a little bit of light BDSM which was great and I highly recommend this book it’s well worth the read.

Anna and her best friend Beth are desperate to leave Earth. They went through testing and got accepted to move to an alien planet and be transformed into one of them. When Anna gets seperated from Beth just before transport, she becomes a nervous wreck but Harkin a Guardian alien helps her settle down. Anna had tested as a supportive candidate who would help control and soothe emotions of those around her especially guardians. After her transformation, it quickly became obvious that Anna was a very strong supportive type. She was so strong that she was in danger of being kidnapped and used for her phermones. Luckily Harkin is keeping a protective eye on her and takes her in as his ward while she is being orientated. Anna is happy to be near Harkin and is falling in love with him but while she is his ward, no intimacy can happen.

Harkin was instantly drawn to the human Anna and was very protective of her. When things go wrong during their transport, his first instinct was to help Anna and her friend Beth. As Harkin spends more time with Anna, he realizes that the are very compatible as future mates. This causes some problems since they are so attracted to each other but he is a member of the ethics committee. He wants to follow his people's laws by the book but his feelings keep getting in the way. Their only way out is to teach Anna how to be independent as soon as possible.

This is a great story with great world building. I really liked both Anna and Harkin.

If you are wanting a world to get your teeth into then you couldn't go far wrong with this book. There is a lot to grasp as you go but don't let that put you off unless you are really after an easy read as this is not what you would get here and I would be doing this book a diservice without mentioning it. Anna has left Earth to start a whole new life. On the very trip to her new life she meets Harkin and for him he knows that she is it. Anna has to struggle to find her path in life but Harkin makes it as easy as he can until he can't fight how he feels about her any longer. Fantastic culture and world building with a little bit of added spice. Wonderful!

Anna gets approved to go to Arksis because Earth is not faring too well. Some Earthlings get approved to go to Arksis but they get transformed into Arkians and have to learn the rules, customs and they go to school after getting to the planet in order to learn things about their new world before they can take the citizenship tests and be considered citizens. Only then can they leave and live their lives.

Harkin is a Guardian and hosts Anna in his home as she studies and gets used to things. But they are compatible as mates and aren't supposed to know it yet. They spend time together in VR where they can do things that they can't anywhere else. But as they spend time together Harkin finds out that there are bad guys who want his human to experiment on before she gets her citizenship and that jolts the danger way up.

Watching these two get to know one another was fun especially because the Arkians are not shy about sex, nudity and talking about what they like and want. Anna is human and a little more reserved but she starts getting used to things and their customs as time goes on.

There is some light BDSM in this book but it's completely consensual and not at all rough or extreme. This was a fun, sexy read and I look forward to reading the next book now.

Thoroughly enjoyed this story. Anna is about to head off planet for a new life and work. All those on this project have alien guardians. Harkin is hers. Anna is also what his people feel as gifted, able to calm those who stress. She is like an empath but she can calm those with thoughts. Deemed a rarity, she is wanted but not for the better good. Anna and Harkin connect and over time and events in their lives, they declare their feelings for each other. I have to admit, I hated that they still had to go through the wait period, but their love was strong and they did get their HEA. I'd love to see who Daisy get hers!!! ;)

They are so much more than that though. Anna is special with her abilities and also because she is his. With all the changes and their attraction, Anna needs Harkin to ground her. They can conquer anything as long as they are together. I enjoyed the world building, the characters and the storyline. There is plenty of drama, action, danger, lust and love

Anna is ready to start her new life and work off planet. She is assigned an alien guardian, Harkin. Anna is “valuable” because she is able to calm people in stressful situations with her enhanced pheromones. It actually could put her in a precarious situation if someone greedy wants her abilities. Anna and Harkin connect with each other; he is good to her and she is happy with him.

It is an interesting world and culture they have. Fortunately Anna has Harkin to help her adjust. There is only one real danger to her. Harkin is involved in catching determinists who have already become interested in his Earthling. Will he be able to protect her as they infiltrate their target?

This book drew me in so much I ended up reading it in one day. I had a hard time putting it down. I was up until 4 am finishing it and it was worth it. I will be looking for more books from this author. The world she creates is so beautifully described you can see it in your head and just enter the story with the characters. I have a new author to follow and I will be looking for more books from this author. It is a HEA with two people attracted to each other from the beginning it has a lot of action and heat with a good dose of mystery too.

Im really glad to be able to say that after reading this wonderful sweet and kinky book that im sure it will be a hit with alien and paranmoral lovers.
Earth isnt doing so great, and Anna is on her way to Arksis..She must go though a series of tests before been paired to a guardian, and these tests i must say i i just had to smile, first theres the VR, then theres School that they have to attend. I also just loved Harkin for Anna they are just lovely
Im sure readers you will just enjoy this, i have rated it a lovely 4 stars.

This story starts with the female lead, Anna, leaving a dystopian Earth for a new alien world where she will be transformed into their species to join in their population. This was an interesting set up with great detail in the construction of the world.

I enjoyed the character and relationship development, as well as the overarching plot line and the potential for future stories.

The story is dual POV, more female than male, well written, and a provoking introduction to a new series.

This is the first book I've ever read by this author, as she's new. Also humans are being accepted into the Arkian people buy harvesting their pheromones. Such a different take on a Sci-Fi romance. Anna is leaving Earth to meet her compatible guardian Harkin. Love reading about all the tests and trials. I so enjoyed this story and am looking forward to another book by this author. They do things differently on Arkis, and Anna’s first exposure to a large, sexy Guardian, an alien culture and a mysterious threat is only the beginning of a page-turner of an adventure and sizzling romance. While this book is a standalone, we’re introduced to characters who will likely star in future books - can’t wait!

So hot.. and a great story.

A well written story that held my interest until the end. This is a new Author to me and it looks like this is her debut story, I know I want to read more by her. This is the first book in the Guardians of Arksis. I enjoyed reading Harkin and Anna’s story of from his ward to his love. Loved the book it was great, the story was written well and the characters were interesting. This story was about Anna is human and is and is getting ready to leave earth and getting ready to live with Arkian. Anna is getting ready to meet Harkin the Guardian. There was drama, danger and love.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The chemistry between them was a sizzler and role play between them was fun to read. Storyline was superb and characters were great.
