Choose Wisely - A 31 Day Devotional: Learn How to Make Choices to Transform Your Life

Rate this book
Have you found that some of the many choices you make on a daily basis have become habits that don't serve you well? We have to become intentional about avoiding those poor choices to experience a better way of life.

Do you want to make a positive impact and leave the world around you a bit better than you found it? Then let's choose to make wiser decisions remembering that words matter, character counts, and our conduct - what we think, say, and do reveals our heart.

The purpose of this 31-day devotional series is to help us all focus on godly characteristics and attributes that can become a daily part of our character and equip us to make wise choices.

When we make wise choices based on God's Word, they will bring us the satisfaction in life that we all long for, which will gradually transform our lifestyle into one that will be an example for others and point them to Christ.

My goal in this series is to help you fall in love with Jesus in a new and fresh way as we discuss all these character qualities that He modeled for us in the Scriptures. As we focus our attention on His attributes and embrace an eternal perspective, imitating what he modeled for us, the more we will think and act like Him. Isn't that awesome? We become like those with whom we spend the most time.

The way we think affects how we feel, and how we feel affects the way we behave. If we want to change the way we act, we must go back and change our thoughts and choices.

We are only as close to God as we choose to be. Keep in mind, God gives us the freedom to make choices; however, we have to deal with and don't get to choose the consequences of both the good and bad choices we make.

Jesus chose to die for us. The least we can do is to choose to live for Him.

"I am so thankful for Debby Sibert - for her writing, for her teaching, and for her life! She is the real deal. She loves God's Word, and she loves helping people experience abundant life according to God's good design. You will be blessed, encouraged, challenged, and ultimately changed by God's grace through her."           David Platt, New York Times Best Selling Author; Lead Pastor, McLean Bible Church

Having only begun my journey in trying to be a good Christian woman a month after I published my first two Christian books a few days before my 69th birthday, I've made quite a few choices that wound up preventing me from becoming who I am today. Had I known then what I've come to learn now, I would have purposedly evaded making those inferior choices.
Obtaining my passion for sharing the words of the Lord, I've been able to have a definitive impact on the lives of those I've interacted with. It has taken me almost two years so far to equip myself with the appropriate righteous traits and qualities to make prudent choices. The journey had been fraught with issues like self-effacement, forgiveness, generosity, and obtaining wisdom to serve the Lord in the manner He deserves.
This is the type of book I would have loved to possess when I began my journey on the pathway the Lord had chosen for me. I had desired to hopefully change the world into a better place than I had found it in through sharing the words of the Lord. Ms. Sibert, through the pages of her book, becomes the perfect mentor in teaching her readers the qualities necessary to transform their lives so they can live on a higher plane and make wiser choices as godly individuals.
I've improved my relationship with the Lord based on adhering to and sharing His words that others are looking towards me to do the same. For wanting to better the lives of her Christian sisters reading this book, I am giving Ms. Sibert the 5 STARS she has garnered.

A great way to start the day!

As another reviewer has mentioned, I like the title of this devotional, and the way each individual devotion begins with the verb “choose”. Following the way of Christ is an everyday/ every moment journey, not just a one-time decision, and the author makes this clear when discussing the characteristics God wants us to learn and develop. In discussing faithfulness, for example, Sibert states that “just as breathing is an ongoing, lifelong exercise, so is the choice to remain faithful- not just in big things- but also in the small things that might seem insignificant- whatever we are called to do”. Well said.

The tone of each day’s reading is almost conversational, as if a friend is giving Scripture-based direction and encouragement. I liked the “Attributes of God” list in the appendix; sometimes when I can’t sleep at night I will play the “ABC” game by mentally listing such attributes! Overall, this book is a great addition to your devotional library.

I’d “Choose” This Devotional If I Were You

I do love me a good devotional! What I love about this particular one is that it’s only a 31 day commitment (although I could go for some more). It’s a great starter for the new believer or the seasoned believer of faith.

Each day you’re focused on making “a choice” with a nice 4-5 page work about choosing something positive and biblical (generosity, love, patience, etc.)

I found it highly motivational and insightful and honestly something I would look forward to every morning with my cup of coffee.

Sibert is profound and riveting in her writing, and clearly understands the importance of choice in the every day life.

If I were you, I’d “choose” this devotional.

Beautiful and life changing!

This devotional is beautiful and practical. It provides daily inspiration on a different fruit of the spirit or Godly attribute. It describes each fruit or attribute using Godly wisdom and compassion. It details why each fruit of the spirit or attribute is important for those who desire a closer and more meaningful walk with the Lord. The author includes attributes of God to help the reader better know and trust God. The information in this book has the potential to positively transform the reader's life when applied to one's prayer and thought life.

A daily self-help book good for a whole month

KindleUnlimited review. Choices; we all make choices. This book by Debby Sibert is a concise guide to meditate on these daily choices. Her stated purpose is to “live honorably, love completely, and choose wisely.” It contains thirty-one daily words or phrases to assist one to live intentionally, avoid poor choices, understand our choices, improve relationships, motivations behind choices, impact of choices, and avoid regretful choices. Just as secular theory can complement religious thought, Christian-focused theory can compliment secular thought. She not only references the bible (Old and New Testaments) but also quotes neurologists, bloggers, famous writers, recent authors, well-known proverbs, military mottos, ancient Greek philosophers, radio personalities, evangelical pastors, sports legends, and Elizabethan/Jacobean poets. Although unapologetically Christ-focused, non-Christian and non-religious can learn actionable self-help tips such as “build your empathy”, “learn to pause before speaking”, and “recognize the barriers to compassion” from Jesus’s reported behavior.

A Practical Guide

This author does a good job of showing how to walk by the Spirit by giving practical tips and scriptures. I’d recommend this devotional to new believers. The only thing I question is the persistent push to put ones last. Though I understand it’s taught by some Christians, I can’t find biblical support for it. Most of my clients come to me and are experiencing depression, anxiety etc due to low self esteem and placing oneself last, denying their own needs and wants.

Wonderful devotional

This is a thoroughly enjoyable book. The passages for each day are beautifully written and spot on. I really like the way it is formatted and arranged for 31 days. The author writes in a pleasant manner and is obviously well-read into her subject matter. There are also some great reference tools included at the end of the book. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a nice devotional-type book.

Worth choosing this devotional

As I skimmed through this devotional, there are quite a few things I love about it: I love how each of the 31 days is in the theme of "Choose...(something)"; I love the acronyms that the author mentioned throughout the book; I love the appendix which contains bible verses on the Attributes of God. I can't wait to dive deeper into each devotional each day as I read through them again.

I really enjoyed the book. It's filled rich spiritual insight. It reminds you to draw life from the true Vine.

What I really love is the repeated theme of "choosing" on each day ... Love, joy, peace ... they come from our Father, but they are ours to choose. Powerful words, I am very grateful for this devotional.

I did get behind in this book when life got in the way, but it was very inspiring, motivational, and wise. I feel closer to god than I was before I started the book. It makes you question a lot and gives you lots of answers to struggles between god’s world and the real world. It also gives you the tools to be a better person and a better believer. I recommend this book to anyone struggling.

This book is intended as a 31-day walk to become a more Christ-centered, Christ-following person.

I appreciated the effort that went into writing this book, and the thought and vulnerability it takes to create something like this. There are parts that I enjoyed, or that gave me better perspective.

Choosing the Fruit of the Spirit

The author presents a good discussion on key biblical characteristics for every Christian's life. Sibert defines each term then provides practical ways to implement her teachings. This book is encouraging and provides enough food for thought until the next day's exhortation.

I enjoyed this book very much. It brought my heart closer to Jesus and just helped me slow down a bit to reconnect. Our world is so fast-paced. It is so important to make that time daily to seek His face, and this book helped me to do that. Thank you.

A Wonderful Book

Choose Wisely is a wonderful book on one of the greatest gifts God gives us; the freedom to choose. Choose Wisely is 31 days of devoting yourself to read each day of a lifestyle followed up by scriptures to transform your life to make wise choices. To create a good quality of life. I enjoyed reading day number 3: choose joy. The author reminded me that God provides joy and peace.
