In a world separated into the privileged chipped, & the lowly unchipped, manipulated by a corrupt technocracy, what will it mean for humanity when injustice is too much to bear? The fate of this dystopian world is tied up with the destiny of three very different men with radically different ambitions. Power-hungry Indigo White’s chipped brain cortex technology has enabled him to cement his iron grip on elected governments and populations in the world’s major powers. This influence earned him a dominant place in the shadowy and unelected ‘World Council’. White’s evil agenda is deep-rooted but is his position as unassailable as he believes? In the impoverished Outlands, Duke Calgary has been raised to one day follow in the footsteps of his legendary, but drug addicted rebel father, resisting and disrupting the tyranny of the existing social order. But when Hamish Calgary meets his death at the hands of Indigo White, tomorrow arrives all too soon for young Duke who now needs to make do or die decisions. While Detective Atticus Cornwall has always put his principles first, in a world that cares ever less about evidence or fairness, and ever more about preserving the unjust status quo, Atticus comes all too often into conflict with higher authorities. After one clash too many rips the fabric of his life apart, Atticus must choose a new path - to rebellion, revenge, or redemption? Can the iron-clad grip of power be broken? Only time can tell, but is there enough to go around?Books Book 1: Rise Book 2: Unguarded Book 3: Rising Book 4: Faith Book 5: Forge Book 6: Insurrection
It doesn't see to matter exactly who you are, but whether you are chipped or unchipped. This is a wonderful series that I will return to again and again.Highly recommended for scifi geeks and "normies" 5/5
After waking from a coma with memory loss, Carter is thrown into a world of accusations, linked to murders and the military. This box set is full on, action packed and contains mystery, suspense , humour and other worldly beings, whose worlds become entwined with Carter and Sahara. Will they survive the seemingly endless twists and turns that are thrown in their path. It's like being on a roller coaster ride of events that you dont want to end. Very well written and highly recommended.
What a series of stories. Actually it is just one huge story broken into easy to understand segments. I enjoyed reading every single page in the series. It is a wonderful read with everything I enjoy in a good book. Action, suspense, intrigue and deceit. What more can you ask for.
The “Dark Elements BoxSet” compiles all six individual instalments of the “Dark Elements” series by Luke Davids into a single volume. A dystopian thriller series evolving around Detective Atticus Cornwall and his world, that offers an inciting look into a dystopian society, in which people are strictly divided into those who have been chipped and those who have remained unchipped. The chipped run the place and enjoyed all privileges, while the unchipped survive at the will of the former. A premise that that feels all the more thrilling with the realization that, at the core, this world is not that different from our very own.

After looking a little too closed into an investigation, Atticus got exiled and his chip disabled (events narrated in the prequel to the series ‘Dark Elements: Emergence’). Since then Atticus has experienced various ups-and-downs, joined forces with his sworn enemy, become the partner of Duke Calgary, the new Outlands boss, in an arduous journey that have brought him to this point, the moment of truth. As the rebels, commanded by Duke, finally break though Chicago’s defenses, the ties are about to turn, the only question being, whether the change will be for better or worst. Because the outcome of the final battle, lies in Duke’s ability to withstand her archnemesis Indigo White.
This is a six parts serialized story, each book (part) has a length of about 70 pages, a fast-paced, action-packed read, that grows darker with each new instalment. All books have been released in a timespan of two months, which helps to highlight the serialized element of the narrative, very comparable with a good Netflix dystopian series, but instead of ‘chilling and Netflix’, ‘thrilling while reading’ would be a much more accurate description for “Dark Elements”. This BoxSet includes all six books/parts in the Dark Elements series: Rise (1); Unguarded (2); Rising (3); Faith (4); Forge (5) and Insurrection (6).
A prequel ”Dark Elements: Emergence” – which relates the events that led to Atticus Cornwall fall of grace and subsequent unchip and exile to the Outlands is also readily available.
Dark Elements feels like a mash-up between Altered Carbon and Mad Max with undertones of Black Mirror. It really does feel like a TV show and is perfect for people who are in a reading slump or just want something fast paced and action packed.
The books are short and pack a punch, the chapters are nicely bitesize so you can either fit them around a busy day or smash out a book or 2 in an evening.
If you like or are trying to get into Sci-fi or dystopian fiction this is perfect! Also there are lots of action scenes to get your teeth into.
The main characters: - - Atticus - the anti-hero, if you will, out for revenge - Hamish - the warlord, trying to do what's best for his people and son, whatever means necessary - Duke - the warlord's son, too young to be involved in his dad's war - Indigo White - an evil tech genius with power over millions of people, trying to obtain even more - Robert Birch - Indigo's co-conspirator, it appears he will do anything asked of him, what is his endgame? - Hope - Indigo's secret weapon, is she as faithful as she appears and to who?
Here is a very short spoiler-free synopsis of what to expect from each book.
Book 1 - Introduces the characters, whilst kicking off the main plot Book 2 - Continues to set up the plot in more detail Book 3 - The climax we've been waiting for, felt like the final episode in a TV series Book 4 - The focus is on character development and subplots Book 5 - My ultimate favourite book in the series! You won't be ready! Book 6 - The standoff and action packed conclusion!
I really enjoyed this series and fully recommend it!
A Fast and furious read, well that's how I read them. Very enjoyable with a surprise.
I have read all of these and the prequal earlier and now I had the whole set to read in one lump. When I read them separately it was like a book a week and it kept me wanting to get the next one sooner, I found I did read it quite fast. The action was well balanced and built up with a few surprises along the way. In many respects it followed predictable lines, feeling comfortable and predictable and then suddenly there was, for me at least, a big old side step. This happened right up to the very end. No spoilers but it ends well for the good guys but there was a bit of a twist I never saw coming, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did, both times round. If you can, read the prequal first.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am both happily and voluntarily leaving a review.
In a world separated into the privileged chipped, and the lowly unchipped, manipulated by a corrupt powerful technocracy, what will it mean for humanity when injustice is too much to bear? Great story and awesome characters . Good mixture for many readers would suit a lot of people ,sci-fi ,thriller etc.
Poor Anticus..No Spoilers .. This was a sort of dark post apocalyptic series. the Characters were kind of hard to get to understand at times but over all a good story. I am an Honest ARC reviewer , this seems like it could be prophetic ...Time will tell. Over all a good read R rated in my opinion.
Truly awesome box set of a genre bending series. Dystopian, techno thriller, scifi. I can add more but you get the idea. This set has something for everyone in it. Incredible storyline and characters you can love, hate, or love to hate. Highly recommended
