There are only two things in this world I give a shit about.

My beloved piano,
and the music I create with it.

Except a year ago, the music in my head disappeared, and I now live in a world of silence.

Until my gaze lands on her.

I don’t know who she is, but the moment I lay eyes on her, a symphony begins to play and the melodies ricochet through my mind.

She’s my inspiration. My muse.

Mine to take. And keep.
Forever.

First, this is a dark romance so it may not be for everyone.
Damien and Avery......each are damaged in their own way and are just going through life. Damien is a famous composer of beautiful music but hasn't been able to write anything for several years. Avery's parents have forgotten her after their son passed away so her days are spent going to school, to work and then home. When Damien sees her one day, the music comes crashing back into his head and he knows she is his!! The story kept me turning pages as I followed how these two interacted with each other after he kidnaps her. It's intense, it's heartbreaking, it's dark and you can feel the emotions pouring from each character. The secondary characters were also interesting and I would love to see something about them in the future. I have found with this author, that she usually has a huge twist in her stories and this one is NO different. It totally hit me from left field and left me with my jaw dropping open! WOW!! When that happened, every other little thing that had me wondering in the story fell into line! Then I understood. Can these two work things out between them or will it all end? This was another 5 star read for Ms. Shaw and if I could give it more stars, I would!!! It's just that good!!!! Oh, and I LOVED the very last chapter. Totally wrapped the whole story up for me!!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is my first L.K. Shaw novel, but if they’re all this good, I will definitely have to check out more!

The author writes flawlessly. I felt myself so swept up in the mere wording of the novel. The story could have sucked and I may not have even noticed it. I do know that isn’t the case with this book. The writing itself was musical.

It’s a slight retelling of Beauty and the Beast, even down to the letting her go part. Avery is kidnapped from her life and kept locked away in a mansion, held captive by Damien. Damien, who can no longer hear his music, his passion and life, until running into her. SO to ensure his music is still getting created, he steals her away to keep as his own, so that the music continues to flow. From the get-go, the author creates mind-blowing chemistry between them. Even while Avery is resisting him, she is so attracted to him.

I felt myself torn at a couple parts of this novel. As a result of the instant chemistry, I found the falling-in-love parts to have happened fairly quickly. I think this also comes down to the book itself though, and I wish it was just a bit longer. Just a little bit more in which they could have explored the mansion or outside and got to know one another before the maze scene (which I loved!) But in the end, the dark romance fan in me won out, and this was really a perfect book. I still would have preferred a bit longer because I was enjoying it so much, but it’s good how it is. The instant chemistry only added to the darkness of this book.

The maze scene was probably my favorite. I loved it because Damien was so sure that he would win and that she would have to stay with him. This scene also showed Avery’s strength and determination; that when it mattered most she fought for her freedom. When Damien mentioned that he should have caught up to her by a certain point, and he got panicky, I *felt* that panic in him. As if I was feeling it as well. That says good writing. And even how she did win her freedom, in that last moment was beautiful. This scene had to happen, to give distance to the characters, so that they could see what each other meant to the other.

Damien was such a tortured, dark hero. I loved him so much. I guessed right away as to his main *issue*, for lack of a better word. In fact, through that dialogue in the beginning, I did second-guess myself because the writing didn’t let on about him. And then I gave up that thought, until the truth comes out in the end. Again, what a sign of amazing writing; to have something like *that* written in a way that you don’t even realize it was right there in front of us.

Overall, this was a fantastic dark read and I am so happy to have been given the opportunity. I will definitely be checking out more from this author!

Lk Shaw has become a master at the art of emotional torture for her readers! Each and every story I think I'm good, I got this........and every single time.......Wham! She gets me, she breaks me down and shows me a whole new kind of story to love.
Damien and Avery, both are damaged by their pasts, their family and are lost in the pain. When these two meet, in a most abnormal way.....not every day you nab a girl in the park you know.....it changes both their lives.
The emotions in this one were dark and not your every day well......relationship if you will. We get twists and turns, emotional angst, hot sexiness and some supporting characters that I'd love to know more about!
I'd give it more stars if I could! Love not knowing the whole story by chapter two.....absolutely a one click author for me!

This book is a dark romance that many won't like but I absolutely loved it. Both Damien and Avery have pasts that have shaped their future. But for Damien, when the music does and he finds his muse in Avery, he will do anything to possess her. This book is dark but I wouldn't say bottom of the barrel dark. LK Shaw did a fantastic job with this book.

Fantastic Read

Damien and Avery will absolutely take your breath away.
Not the conventional love at first sight story.
They each have demons from their pasts to contend with, not to mention the fact they met under highly unusual circumstances.
This is an incredible story from one of my favorite authors and I highly recommend it.

This is a fantastic book, worth te cost and everyone reading. This is a dark romance which for some may invoke triggers to some people. LK Shaw is so good at throwing twist into stories that are totally unexpected. This story of Damien and Avery is another of her stories with a twist. Avery is kidnapped because she is Damien"s muse. Damien has been unable to make music, which has made him a millionaire, for over a year. He sees Avery and then can hear music in his head and can write it . His head/mind has been] blank and live is as blank as his brain, until he see Avery from a distant. Definitely a book worth reading.

Warning! This book may set off triggers for kidnapping and non-con sex. Damian and Avery start off rough and at odds but end up learning about love together. I’m not a big fan of dark romance and the first couple of chapters bothered me but once I got past the really dark stuff this turned out to be a sweet and erotic tale of two damaged people finding each other.

Another win!

I have loved every story from Miss Shaw that I have read so far, but I think Loves Notes is now my favorite. To find someone who understand you the way Damien and Avery understand each other...sigh. Loved how this story unfolded. Be prepared to read this in one sitting! ❤

He hears the music when she is around.

Damien is a famous composer. He has not heard the music for a year. He has had a lot happen in his past. His music came from the connection and love that he shares with his mother. But for some reason, in this past year, that connection has been lost.

Avery is dealing with a loss in her life. She has literally just been going day to day because that is the function of life, but she has not been living.

Damien begins to hear the music again. But why? There is something about Avery that brings back what he has been missing for so long, and he will do anything to get it and to keep it. I liked this book. Yes it was a bit dark and tragic, but there was something about their story that pulled me in and made me want to see what would happen with the two. And I am glad that I did.

***1.5 Don't Romanticize Rape Stars***

I wanted to get inside the pages of this book, grab the protagonist by his collar, bash his skull against the wall & commit a murder. That's how vile & repulsive the guy was. Erotica be damned this dude's mental. Not a cell in my being found him attractive. His thoughts about the female lead were that of a deranged abductor/rapist. He's no anti-hero, he's just a plain old villain & not the attractive against your good judgement kind.

And ofcourse consequently we get a heroine who's Exhibit B for Stockholm syndrome, not even gonna go there.

The 1 star is for the writer because she has the potential to write better stuff, be better than this. The 0.5 star is for the premise, a more sane story could've been written with the same premise. Plus points for concept, minus points for Stockholm Syndrome Romance trope.

Love Notes by LK Shaw is the story of Damien and Avery.
Damien is a very famous composer who has lost his inspiration to create music. Avery brother died which have set her parents on a path to heavily morn him and has made Avery almost forgotten by them I thought. So Avery works and goes to school is basically her life. When Damien happens to spot her he feels things he hasn't felt before but more importantly to him he hears the music that he has been missing. Avery is his muse and to act on his need for her he takes her and locks her away.
But can these two broken soles find that they have more to offer than their torn past?
Enjoyed this page turning story. This is a somewhat dark romance, so it may not be for everyone but for me I enjoyed it.

Composer Damien hasn’t been able to write a note or Play his beloved piano in 3 years. But then he spots Avery in a park one day... She’s the muse he’s been seeking, so he decides to take her and keep her.

“Why now? Why her? I don’t know what it is about the girl that brings the music to me, but I refuse to lose it again.”

Avery is madly attracted to her captor, so she doesn’t put up much of a fight. Insta-love is usually something I can’t stand reading about, but it worked with these two. I thought their chemistry was hot, and by jumping right into things, Shaw didn’t waste any time.

As with every abduction story, there’s a reason why the bad guy is the bad guy and Damien’s history/situation is fascinatingly unique. Although the premise is a familiar one, and this book needs a good proofreader, I can’t deny that I was entertained by this book!

The first thing I have to say is, I am in love with LK's writing. She has written a dark and tragic hero in Damien and a sweet but a fighter in Avery. Putting these two together are fireworks in the making.

Damien has music in him, that has to come out, but one day he wakes up with silence in his head. There is nothing there. While in town he finds himself staring at Avery and music bombards his brain. Avery could be the way back to his music.

Love Notes is a love story that is a little twisted, some darkness, and a lot of beautiful. I highly recommend this story.

L.K. Shaw is a new to me author and I can't wait to read another one of her books. Love Notes is a dark romance that's full of so much emotions. Avery is not really living she is just going through the motions of one day at a time. She only has one friend, Sage and even that is hanging by a thread. Damian, broken hearted Damian is trying to connect with music after not being able to connect with it after a year. The moment his eyes land on Avery that all changes. This book had me screaming WTH and then crying the next. These are fire together and the things they go through together only furthers that flame. This was a completely unexpected book and I am so glad I read it!

Love Notes is a dark romance, so read the trigger warnings, just in case.

We meet our MCS Damian and Avery in this one. Damian is a "famous" composter whom is in a bit of a slump until he lays eyes on Avery. I guess you could say she becomes his muse in a way. BUT he goes about things in a pretty dark way... he kidnaps Avery to force her to stay for him to write music/etc. Avery is fairly damaged herself. Her family have all but forgotten she exists since her brother passed away. She is quiet and keeps to herself for the most part..

They're both damaged, but was kidnapping her the way to her heart? haha. I guess you'll hae to read to find out ;x

“This was my first time reading a book of L.K and I was shocked. Yes, Love Notes is a dark romance but it was fantastic.

Damien and Avery definitely took my breath away! Both are damage souls with demons still haunting them. Unequestionably their love wasn’t at first sight but their story was perfect.

An sexy and emotional story that you must experience.”

I was able to read this book in one sitting. I was truly compelled with Damien’s side of the story. He’s a famous composer but he has been struggling for years to write music. Until one day he sees Avery.
Avery’s parents have forgotten about her since the passing of there son. Since then she has her routine of going to school, working at the bookstore and home.
One day when Damien is out, he sees Avery and the music starts coming back to him instantly. But why? He knows that she is the cause of this so he kidnaps her and takes her to his home so that she can be around him and he can make his music again.
Damien and Avery both have damaged pasts, they come together in an unusual way.
This was my first book by L.K. Shaw, and I enjoyed this story, I do love a good dark romance. I’ll be looking into other works by L.K. Shaw in the future.

Dark romance,Music and Disability.

May contains spoiler.

Avery is just a normal girl who lives in a bad neighborhood, while she is at the park . Damien saw her reading a book and upset. Damien is deaf,a musician who lost the music inside his head. When he saw Avery the music starts to come . Until then he decide to take her .

Kidnapping. Obsession. Stockholm syndrome. Disability. HEA.

- I love how l.k put this together ,, it's a typical Stockholm syndrome story but how she writes it , it was meaningful he different . I love that no cheating on the story after Avery left ,, it.makes my heart full when I finish the book as I want more .

This book deserve a 5 stars . I wouldn't mind for.another series but standalome.is fine ..

Loved it!

This book was just what I was looking for. It was dark, delicious and awesome. I really loved Damien and feel like the main characters were perfect for each other. Don't want to give spoilers, but will also say I loved that though "dark" this was still a great romance and sexy read. Too many I have read lately had so much gratuitous graphic violence it wasn't for me. Will definitely read this again.

Dark, loved, kleenex alert

I have loved everything LK Shaw has written, but LOVE NOTES just slayed me. This is quite a story, and I loved every word, every page, and every chapter. There was a stunning surprise towards the end that literally took my breath away; I certainly didn't see it coming. LOVE NOTES is a little dark and a lot steamy, but one of the best books I've read. Thank you LK for this lovely symphony!

I'm always on the lookout for new dark romance authors so discovering this book was a much needed surprise. I loved the dark elements of this book and the interaction between Avery and Damien. The premise was good. My biggest complaint was how fast it all happened. I wanted it to be drawn out a bit more. Still a good book and now I have a new author to keep an eye on.
