I wasn’t impressed with this book, apart from a few brief moments not a lot happened. Unfortunately the series is becoming a fairly boring soap opera.
If possible I would have given 1.5 stars.

Another new day, another alien species. Now Bob and crew have to figure out what they are going to do about it. Fast and fun.

Another enjoyable romp in this author's universe. These stories are just plain fun to read, and I find them hard to put down. some don't seem to like the author's heavily speech oriented style but I have no problems with it, in fact, I find it easy to hear the characters voice in my head.

While this volume has the usual high level of dialogue, it does move the plot on a pace introducing another alien race and gives us more space-based action. All I could ask for after a slowish previous volume.

It's difficult to say more, but this remains one of my enjoyable reads and one where I always look forward to the next volume.

Yet another

Being completely honest I have no idea how Jerry Boyd manages to write these as quickly as he does and maintain his quality.
He must have a nearly inexhaustible supply of plot ideas, once again something happens something else happens and then something else happens one after another with the on going cast of characters And the inevitable new races and new characters.
That's not a putdown you wouldn't be looking at the 16th episode of the Bob and Nikki story if this wasn't a style of writing you kinda like as I said before it reminds me of old pre pulp Boys in curls novels the time swift stories scout stories radio boys nurses the stuff from the early 1900s pre 20 's debt had up tapi ending and action and inaction in action with your characters that you became familiar with and again that's not a complaint I've read all of those know I've read lots of those and I like them and I go back to them and I like these and I come back the If that's the sort of thing you like you'll love this one get another interesting group of new characters And yet another Ceres of plot twists for Admiral Bob.

This time it doesn't end on a cliffhanger but there's plenty unresolved for the Ceres to continue and I read thoseThis time it doesn't end on a cliffhanger but there's plenty unresolved for the Ceres to continue and I read those

I love all of the Bob and Nikki books. It's not much of a stretch for me to imagine that a maintenance man at a factory could help a beautiful alien fix her spaceship and end up marrying her, having twins, adopting other children, getting along great with robots and sasquatch, building up the biggest and best navy around, and running it all as the Admiral of Bob's Saucer Repair. Nope, no problem at all. If you liked Walter Mitty, you'll love Bob and Nikki.

In this episode, we meet the Monkeys. Now we have the Sasquatch, the Squirrels, the True Squirrels, the Roos, and the Humans to go with them. Bob gets along with everybody who wants to get along. That does not include his mother, who thinks he is some demented space pirate and would turn him in to the US government ... even though he rescued her from them in book 15.

Life is still a great cycle of barbecues, dog walking and frisbee-playing, a little checkers and some pool, and a whole lot of dealing with good people. I was worrying that his buddy John Branham and their friend Steve Mason were disappearing. We see more of both in this book, but not enough Dingus for my tastes. When you have such a huge cast, some players have to step back for a bit. I get it, and just like the first fifteen times, I'm glad for what we got in this book.

Bring on book 17. You're gonna make me read something else til then.

Half a book

These books read fast and have good plots. The books rely almost entirely on dialog driven narration and I find that amazing. This particular book added more prose and some actual speaker identification “Janet said, Nikki said” that was refreshing and helpful.

The Character Introduction section needs to be updated to cover this and the last books events. (Minor nit issue I didn’t notice in the last book because I skipped that section when the first version included spoilers for the book it was in.)

The most serious issue I have is the joke and segue recycling is heavy throughout every book, part of it is charming but sometimes it’s NOT. I think it may vary among readers and might be impossible to find the right balance for everyone. Sorry Mr. Boyd.

Stop reading here to avoid spoilers!!!

“Fun to wind you up” “Payback” “Snitz ear licks” “Daaaad!” “Dry cleaning” “Murphy Walks” “Aw shucks, it was nothing - he believes it” “Bladder Control” and more.
Sorry for giving away 20% of the book.

This series started out interesting, at least the concept, the humor was different, kind of like unending dad jokes. Then over time the creativity became a bit stale, the dad jokes became agonizing and the reader (me) began flipping digital pages as fast as they would go, to just get through them. I could skim the page and tell when something would actually happen, other than agonizing detail about every single thing they did through that particular day. I still think the author is very talented, I just think they need to revisit and revise their approach to writing. I do recommend the first two or three books in this series, just because of the fun topic and the approach taken , but it is not worth it after that.

This is the 16th book in a series that I think has 20 so far. These books are fun. I have read all of them. They are a quick read and always entertaining. Characters are varied and there are always story twists. They are written in a narrative fashion so it is kind of like hearing someone tell a story. There are also no chapter breaks so there is no "I'll read to the end of the chapter and then stop." Very easy to get caught up and lose an hour or so. You will need to start at the beginning though to get the full story. There are a lot of good cultural references sprinkled throughout that will give you a chuckle as well. Enjoy!

Hooped Do

I love the weird names you use for your aliens 👽. And I see you couldn't find a good way to describe how you disarmed that trap and just said it was done. Good way to get around that problem. Are you x-military? Because the way you describe the naval offices it sounds like you have some experience with them (most are lawyers in my experience with them always demanding respect and never respecting those that work for them). If you don't like my comments let me know and I will rewrite this review.

Often silly, but satisfying, and a good read.

The whole series is kind of silly but it satisfying on a character level and continues to come up with new wrinkles period if you're somebody who likes robots... and an ordinary guy who
succeeds because he believes in people ( which includes AI / robots) and, ultimately, in doing what's right... then you'll like this series. If you liked the series that starts with Quarter Share by Nathan Lowell I think you will like this series too.

a very interesting style

Jerry Boyd…I almost stopped reading the first book as I felt the writing was simple and somewhat pedantic in the use of certain sayings. I had never read anything in my over half a century of sci-fi book adventure. Yet he had hooked me into finding out what came next and here I am going onto book 17. The style reflects the personality of the main character, a hillbilly Asperger genius who seems simple but is massively complex.
When you simply must see what comes next in a book or series, the author has written a winner. Simple as that.

A race of politicians arises 😉

As usual Jerry takes you away from the foolishness that surrounds us.
The story keeps evolving and (unfortunately?) Bob and Nikki seem to be maturing along with the rest of the cast.
I was right about book 15 setting things up and now there is a new species that could give politicians a run for it. The book ends in a cliff hanger that will require book 17. No problem, it will be worth it.

Hey Bob.
Hey Mark.
Bob, what's going on?
I'm working on being an admiral.
That's nice.
I'm pretty good at it, but I would like you to tell me that.
You're a great admiral, Bob!
Thanks Mark, next time there will be a bit more travelling going on, not hanging around with our fleet in the middle of nowhere.
Not going to be a problem Bob, I trust your brown eyes.
My eyes are blue Mark!
Yeah Bob, that's right, when you're not full of it.
Okay, Mark, see you around.
Maybe Bob, maybe.

Generally speaking I really like this series...

Unfortunately, Mr. Boyd has a few writing issues that get in his way. For instance the entire story is told in the first chapter. That part I can live with but he's terrible about stating who said what in a multi speaker conversation.

I have enjoyed the storyline in every book but ignoring grammatical corrections nets a headache inducing book; I tolerated this one but I'm looking for improvement on the next book or I am done!

Keeps you awake to read it

Have read all of the series so far available. Have to be alert and up on your 60s - 80s America cultural references or you will miss many if not most of the jokes. Helps to know your rock & roll, R & B, movie, TV, historical, motor maven stuff to fully enjoy the conversations. Great sitches that our hero Bawb deals with in his usual live and let live fashion. You let him live, he lets you live.

Every story pulls you deeper.

I'm a Missouri boy lost in the desert. Bob and his crew are like kin from back home. The stories sound like wild fish stories told in every backwoods bar and bait shop, just on a grander scale. I don't know where you get your ideas but I hope to Murphy the river never dams.

Admiral Bob, the new and improved monkeys uncle!

If you've read the rest of the series, continue to be astounded and amazed by the amicable equanimity by which Admiral Bob makes his way through the universe! A rollicking good read, wherein truly good people do their best to be better

Go bot go!!!!!!!

I've been HOOKED since the first book and can't wait for.the next one!! I love the characters, the byplay, and the obscure cultural references (yes, I'm old enough that I haven't had to look one up yet!)!!!! Bob and Nikki is a fantastic series and well worth taking time to read.

Love this book

Can't wait for the next book number 17 love the way this is ridden and all the people work together. I wonder that the new people will like the new plant and the other people on it. Will the others come looking for them. Will there be trouble on earth. Who will we fight next. And the children do next.

What a ride! I've read all 16 books (so far) and can't wait for the next one. The literary style is different (nearly all conversation and no chapters), but that just makes these stories unique. It's the author's voice. Thank you Mr. Boyd for celebrating difference. Looking forward to book 17 in Bob and Nikki's saga.

Another Great Bob & Nikki!

I really don’t usually stick with long serialized stories, but I love the Bob and Nikki tales that Jerry Boyd writes!

As always, there are very likable characters, fun adventures, and in some of the books (this one in particular) there are gripping unknowns that I can’t wait to find out!

Bob & Nikki… ever an enjoyable story!

Bob keeps trying to be nice to people.

While checking a new planet out the crew discover another broken saucer. Upon opening it the occupant, tries to shaft Bob and take over the Gene. As usual to little to late. Scott I wants to check for new tech, not much to be found. A new alien species is discovered and Bob makes friends.

Excellent setup for the next step in the series.

The domestic life loop is feeling a bit predictable at this point, but the plot and pace make reading along a delight. The number of story threads in play is continuing to grow and nearing a Persian rug in complexity, but if you've been on the ride from the start it still all makes sense.

Another fun one in this series. Bob and Nikki and crew encounter another new species, with a personality on their own, Bob and company navigate the waters of first contact and once again their creative city and ingenuity save the day. These books are a lit of fun. Start at Bob's Saucer Repair (book one of the series) and join the adventure.

Fun and new twists…

I do not know where Mr. Boyd gets his ideas from, but I really do hope it does not go dry anytime soon. Delightful stories about characters everyone wishes were real. And overloaded with just as delightful puns too!

Wow #16

It is rare I stay with any author this long. Asimov, RAH, David Weber, and John Ringo are examples of those I read any and all. Jerry Boyd has held my attention for 16 books now. Good job

Quite the Serialized Story

The saga continues in much the same way as the previous books, with many of the same characters. Each installment brings a few new players and occasionally one or two who join Bob’s team.
