Smoking Hot series starter for Miranda Lynn will not disappoint! Kat has been hiding with Mack and Casey's pack for a year, she's safe here. Helping other pack mates heal and be productive. When Leo shows up, who is going to help her. Both have their lions locked in cages, for different reasons, but still locked up, to keep them safe, hidden. Kat is in hiding from a horrible childhood, and a bad deal, from her father. Leo is protecting a brother, who is alpha of his pack, because he really had no interest. These two learn to trust each other to become true mates. I haven't read a paranormal story in awhile, and I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Looking forward to the next one!

Spicy Paranormal Romance
The struggle is real! Leo has been hiding in the human world, he decides he wants to run free again. Kat has been with Mack and Casey's pack for a year. When these two Lions meet again, it is explosive! They have some great adventures together. Romance is in the air, or should I say Sexyness! This book is so so good!! A fast-paced lion shifter story about true mates that offers an alternating dual POV between the two main characters - Leo and Katrina (Kat). I am a fan of the dual POV storytelling - I love getting to see what other characters are thinking/feeling as the story progresses.

This author’s approach to the dual POV was a little different, but after a few chapters I was able to adjust to her style of using this method of storytelling. A few of tHe early chapters when the POV switched would go back to ‘replay’ the scene just read in the prior chapter, but from the other main character’s perspective.

The author gradually shares the backstory for Leo and Kat; however, the story takes place over a very brief period of time - maybe a week before we get an epilogue six months later. There is some unexpected danger from Kat’s past that appears suddenly and has a big impact on their relationship.

I enjoyed the book, my first by this author, and I am interested in how the series continues based on the epilogue. I would have preferred more detail on the backstories of the characters because both Kat and Leo are successful characters who were on the run from their pasts/birth prides.

I enjoyed this book. I thought this book had a very interesting storyline and likable characters. There is a lot of intensity in Leo and Katrina's story along with plenty of emotion and danger. The characters were complex and each had there baggage. That's something I always like because I think it helps to make them more realistic and relatable. This was my first book by this author and I am really looking forward to checking out more of her books. This is my frank, freely posted review.

They've crossed paths before when Leo hired her to help out a pride, they cross paths again a year later but this meeting didn't go smoothly. I loved it! A new chapter of shifters in line with the practices of Jerome's Black Mountain Pack. While he
and Wyatt are mentioned here, this is an entirely different pack. Under the influence of Leo Lancaster, billionaire, Mack and Casey have started their own pride. Leo decides to visit them in Brazil and his life takes a new turn. Wait until you read about the whirlwind of Leo and Kat!

This was a very enjoyable read. Both Leo and Kat did not want to admit that they were mated but their animals knew. It just took time for their human side to catch up. Their road to HEA was rough but they did get there.

I was given this book for an honest review by the author.
This series is a MUST read for me….a PNR reader at the core. I love the characters and the way Miranda keeps the storyline fresh. Each book I feel she brings something new and some kinda new evil that the pack must overcome. This pack might be spread throughout the globe, but they are family through and through.
Oh Leo. He and his lion have been on my radar for a long time. We have watched him help Casey and her new pack. We know he helped Jerome build his pack but what about Leo?? When will he get his love and find happiness?? Well a certain therapist he secured for Casey’s pack seems to be the one who will give him all he needs and more….love, companionship, sass, and heartache. Yes, I said heartache.
Leo has A LOT to deal with in regard to Katerina AKA Kat. She is a broken woman who helps other broken women but never really looks to heal herself completely. Kat has been through some stuff and now when she thinks she has found a place to belong, along comes Leo making her lioness want MORE while her human side is petrified. Her experiences with alphas and mates have not been good. Casey and Mack are a strange concept given what she has seen growing up.
Kat’s father was a power-hungry alpha who treated the females in his pack terrible. What she endures is horrifying but her ability to escape and mend herself just enough to help others is amazing. However, Leo sets her off kilter and she soon is at war with herself over this alpha male. That hussy lioness in her sees Leo for all he is but her human side is so afraid she pushes.
Their story is full of chemistry and is action packed. When Kat’s past shows up and tries to ruin her future, she is a mess. Leo can’t handle the fact his mate is in fear and will do everything to protect what is his…his love…his future…his mate…HIS LIFE!!!
Friends, this book is seriously a perfect addition to the series. I am so excited at where it looks to be headed and ya’ll DJ is hella delicious!! Just saying. I said it first here!!!!

I was so excited to read this! Leo has always been a mystery and has been the “benefactor” or “family friend” in the Black Mountain Pack Series. Now we get to see the man, the myth ,the LION! Leo is an incredible alpha, but just like most men, they don’t know a thing about women, haha! Leo finally takes a break from all the chaos around him and heads out to see old friends, Casey and Mack. Leo helped the alpha, Casey, when she took over the pack and hired Katrina to help with therapy for her pack. There were many abused shifters that needed this help and Katrina was more than willing to help. However, when Leo and Katrina see each other, his lion immediately wants to claim her, and her lioness wants to be claimed. These two have both worked for so long and have been so determined to build these crazy walls up to keep others from getting close to them. These two constantly war with themselves and you get to see an intenses, but delicate, push and pull. The mating call is strong and the alpha senses this, the coven senses this, and their inner animals just know. Watching these two get thrust into each other's arms time and time again was incredible. And being there while the two of them worked to remove each other’s walls was amazing. Their story is definitely one I will not forget. Sometimes our pasts come back to haunt us but what most people forget is that you don’t have to let your past define you. These two have an epic love story that will stay with you for a long time. This is definitely a must read!

4.2⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️& 1 🌶️. The beginning of this book was a little difficult to read for me, the sentence structure was short and snappy and didn’t have much depth. It felt a poorer quality honestly, and it made it hard to engage with the characters and storyline because you felt like you were only getting a tiny sliver of information at a time. Around 30% in the plot starts to get a little more present, with the introduction of a new character that makes the plot thicken.

He is a ghost from the FMC Kat’s past. And immediately has a run in with our MMC Leo. Just like you would imagine too young male lions fighting over a female, Leo and Stan Denmark go immediate alpha male over Kat. Turns out he’s a nasty piece of work!

We meet some other shifters in this too including an awesome she dragon that appears to have additional abilities. Also, the Alpha Casey appears to have additional magic too, so I’m intrigued about where this could go for the magical world building. Overall I did like it especially towards the end, and their new business venture sounds very promising. Looks like the spice will heat up in the next instalment.

What a bizarre mish mash of a book!

I was optimistic until within the first few pages I read a description of the fmc, dressed in high heals and slimline pencil skirt n silk blouse IN THE MIDDLE OF THE JUNGLE IN BRAZIL! Wtf!!!

It didn't quite read right as a true shifter book. Cant quite put my hand on it. It just didn't gel together. Not helped by the fact that the author repeated the action n dialogue from the others pov verbatim! So within 2 pages you're reading the same speech twice. It really didn't help the flow and detracted from the plot. It was like the author didnt quite know how to do multiple povs so just literally copied what she'd just written.

Then add in the even more bizarre plot to build a bdsm club IN THE MIDDLE OF THE JUNGLE IN BRAZIL- seriously it was just ridiculous!

Very amateurish and in serious need of a decent editor who knows what they're doing, especially around book structure etc.

So not for me, I really hated this writing style

If I could give this a 3.5 I would. The relationship between The main characters were great and likeable. They each had baggage they carried, but were strong people. I enjoyed when they eventually started to give in and accept each other, making it so they could be stronger together. This series has so much potential, but the set up did not work for me as a reader. The book had repeated dialogue, I understand what it was there for, but it was confusing to me as a reader. Due to the confusion as I read it made me enjoy it less bringing down my rating. Overall, it is worth reading and I can not wait to see what happens next.

A great first book to a New Series!!!

I really enjoyed this book and Kat and Leo's story and Iook forward to the next book in this Series, My Reluctant Mate. Finding out about Kat's aka Katrina's past pulled on the heartstrings, but makes the reader understand why Kat refuses to listen to her lioness or even admit to her heart, when they meet Leo Lancaster that he is her one TRUE mate. With Leo by her side to protect her from her past and possible future, as well as being patient and understanding, will Kat accept Leo as her mate and have a happily ever after? I'm glad that I have another book and Series to look forward to .

An enjoyable shifter romance read.

A fast pace shifter romance read that didn’t disappoint. What was suppose to be a trip to renovate Leo goals becomes more when he unexpectedly sees Katrina. He wasn’t expecting her to be around and he sure wasn’t expecting how his lion side comes alive from the first scent. She doesn’t make it easy for him, but when they find themselves stuck together, the kitty comes out to play. This is only my first book by the author and I enjoyed it and look forward to see how the other characters develops in this easy to read series.

I’m not rating this book because I DNF’d it early on. I wanted to read a sweet fated mates, shifter story and this book doesn’t fit.

Leo, the asshole lion, wants to reconnect with his animal. He also wants to find his fated mate. Except he already knows her and when he sees her again he can’t stop spewing unwarranted venom at her constantly. Then, when he changes his mind and decides he wants her, he just expects her to roll over and accept him after his asshole behavior? Fuck-off.

This was a great little fast read, there is enough detail to get a feel for the characters and enough invested for a short standalone, the story line was fantastic, i liked we got to see a snippet of the future in this world, i will definitely be reading the next in the series,this seems like a really good series to use for upping your reading goal numbers!! this is the first book from this author i have read and will be reading more!!

Awesome book.

Didn’t think I would like the non-traditional novel, but I was proven wrong. This book was beautifully written and the characters leaped off the page and kept me on the edge of my seat. Miranda is a great writer and I look forward to continuing this series and reading other books she has written.
