The four Merrick brothers are different. Way different: each of them can control one of the elements—water, fire, wind, or earth. They’re powerful. Dangerous. Alone—except for each other and a few trusted friends. They’re all trying to fly under the radar. But someone’s watching them; someone who wants them out of the way. Before they know it, their enemies have gathered, and they're armed for war.
They're not interested in surrender. But the Merricks aren’t the white flag type anyway. There will be blood on the ground tonight . . .

A full time writer, Brigid lives in the Baltimore area with her family.
This series was absolutely amazing! My only complaint is that it ended. I feel like there could have been another book and the author could have drawn out the ending of Sacrifice. It felt like the ending was a bit rushed. I get they’ll always be in danger but I dunno. Felt like there could have been another book but it still ended great. Having the different books in each of the guys pov was different (in a good way) where things were still going on in the background to progress the story. (Although sometimes I do wanted to know more about what was going on but I loved the writing style).
I would definitely read this again and recommend it to anyone that loves fantasy.
Rather than writing a billion separate reviews, I decided to compile my feelings into one. Single. Word. *screaming* Whether that word is good or bad is up to you, though the number of stars attached to said word likely lean towards the good. Normally, I try to write my reviews eloquently, like a real, paid critic. Sadly, that requires a separation from one's emotions, and mine are very much battling for my attention, fighting their way to the surface. Hence, this: *screaming* I cannot even begin to describe the emotions this series forced me through. I've read almost every one of Brigid Kemmerer's books, and they're all brutal. Painfully, heart-wrenchingly, achingly brutal. If my emotions were a person, Kemmerer stuck a knife in their heart and twisted. Okay, make that twenty knives. As you can see, my emotions are still very fresh. Makes sense, considering that I literally just finished "Sacrifice" five minutes ago. And let me tell you, reading this series was no sacrifice. I could not put these books down. The first book, the first page, the first WORD, trapped me. Kemmerer stole me off the street, thrust a bag over my head, shoved me in the back of her car, and took me on a journey that I will never forget. She brought out the best and the worst in me, and it appears as though that includes metaphors, too. I'm not saying Kemmerer is perfect. Far from it, in fact. But that's what makes her writing so powerful. Everything she writes is so exposed and RAW. I'm no empath, but I felt every emotion on the page. I went through the same heartaches, trials, and joys that the characters experienced. And the CHARACTERS. One thing Kemmerer is good at is creating characters that the reader not only relates to, but understands, and not just surface level understanding but deep, almost spiritual understanding. Each of her characters are so different, so unique, so human that the reader can't help but fall in love with them. As someone who blasted through this series in little more than a week, let me tell you that these books are not a waste of your time. I'm currently experiencing a post-book high, and I don't think it's gonna stop anytime soon, though it will probably dissolve into post-book depression sometime soon. I honestly wish I could reverse time and start all over. This is definitely a series I would take the time to reread. In other words, I definitely recommend this series... and every other Kemmerer book.

From my memory, I absolutely adored this series. I believe I read this back when I was 14? 15? I am 20 now, (how time flows...). I have been going back finding old book series I want to buy in hard cover for my book shelf and I just KNEW I needed this. I read this book series in one week and I remembered crying like a baby in the last book.
I love the different POVS. How each book has 2 main POVS, so you get to see two different sides of the story and really get to see the depth, inner-thoughts, and dynamics of the characters. The story-line from what I remember was intriguing and drew you in, although I think I can recall myself believing that more could have been done with the plot, or at least could have been done a bit differently. (Again I am 20, read this when I was 14-15, so my memory isn't great)
I loved this series so much, made me fall in love with reading again! Definitely is an amazing read, I recommend!
This series had me from the first word. The series starts and ends with Michael, the oldest of the Merrick brothers but each brother gets their turn on the roller coaster that is their life. Great characters and a wonderful redemption arc for one of the characters who started off as a real jerk. The identity of the ultimate villain came as a surprise and one character’s death tore my heart out. I highly recommend this series!
My introduction to YA fantasy reading and it's what's got me hooked! The story line was fantastic, the characters where well presented but not over the top and the mystery kept you wanting to read. I love this series and have not found another elemental series like it!
