For a princess with a deadly stalker, the only place she feels safe is in the arms of her big, tough, and very off-limits bodyguard.
Princess Sofia of Caldova is in San Francisco to spearhead a fabulous royal jewelry exhibition and raise money for her charity…but danger has followed her. With an unhinged stalker hunting her, a dangerous international ring of jewel thieves targeting her exhibition, and her own secret task no one can know about, she’s in need of security.
Enter big, grumpy, ex-military bodyguard Rome Nash. A man who’s guarded her once before, and who she embarrassed herself by kissing…a kiss he didn’t return.
After years on a covert special forces team, Rome Nash thrives on working for Norcross Security as its chief bodyguard. Driven by the losses of his past, he needs to help keep people safe. But guarding a beautiful, elegant princess who surprises him at every turn, and who he knows is hiding secrets, is testing his legendary self-control.
For months, all he’s thought about is Sofia, and now that she’s in danger, Rome’s willing to cross all the lines to keep her safe.
As the exhibition draws closer, jewel thieves attack, Sofia’s stalker strikes, and infamous thief Robin Hood enters the picture. Rome and the men of Norcross Security step in, and Rome will risk everything to protect his princess, no matter the risk, no matter the cost.

The Bodyguard is a book where after I read it, I sort of forgot about it. There is nothing special or caught me off guard with this book. Miss Hackett intended this story to be recyle and forgetable.
There are so many glaring holes in the plot and the background setting between a princess and her bodyguard is not believable. I thought I can ignore the holes, but it just staring back at me.
Anna Hackett’s classic quick but well rounded storytelling + bodyguard romance = my perfect recipe😋
4✨ 1.5🌶️
💎bodyguard romance 💎former military security agent bodyguard MMC 💎princess FMC 💎princess with alter ego has Robin Hood style thief 💎princess has a stalker 💎unresolved sexual tension 💎desire vs duty
One of my favorite tropes in romance is the bodyguard. The tension, the longing, the duty vs love personal debate, it’s all just chef’s kiss. But there’s a certain bodyguard romance microtrope that makes it extra, EXTRA special for me: when FMC needing protection is some kind of royalty/princess and the MMC bodyguard is more of a civilian that knows what working reality is like. And they each have preconceived notions about each other (he thinks she’s spoiled and out of touch, she thinks he’s cynical and judgmental), but slowly start to realize their assumptions may have been wrong.
ROMANCE TROPE PERFECTION.
(Side note: And can you believe I also found this exact trope in a monster romance too!? Let me know if you want the name😏)
The Bodyguard by Anna Hackett is Book 4 in the Norcross Security series and this time around follows team member Rome Nash, a tall, dark, and handsome grump on a mission to guard Sofia “Sofie”, Princess of Caldova, while she’s in San Francisco on business.
But this isn’t the first time the pair has met. Rome has guarded Sophie once before, and the assignment ended in a kiss neither one of them could forget, for very different reasons. Rome froze up in shock, so Sophie ends up mortified at her presumption in the heat of the moment. But Rome was way more affected than he let on, and he can’t think of any woman but Sophie in the months to come.
When another assignment throws them together again, the pair must face their unresolved history and navigate their rising sexual tension, before it reaches a breaking point.
Between a stalker on the loose after Sophie and Sophie herself keeping secrets and sneaking out from under his watch, Rome has his hands full in both keeping her safe and discovering what she’s up to. But when the secrets unravel and begin to connect, Rome and Sophie must work together to stop a jewel theft plot and gain justice to close old wounds.
Rome and Sophie had amazing 🔥chemistry🔥 you could feel their desire for each other, their inability to not gravitate towards the other, despite the risk. And the the unresolved tension is finally resolved, it feels like a delightful reward. A fountain of water after a slow trek in the desert with only small sips of water.
All in all, this was a great addition to the series as a whole, but the addition of my absolute fave trope (with my absolutely fave microtrope) made this one extra special!
“We dont have peni*es, but our eyes work just fine.” Gia Norcross. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟/5 stars.
I absolutely love this expanding gang! They are loyal, vibrant and colorful. This time it’s Norcross Security Bodyguard Rome Nash’s turn to take the fall. Princess Sofia of Caldova was such a sweetheart. She is so kindhearted and brave but with a secret. I loved that author gave her double identity. Those scenes almost gave me a heart attack. Overall an action packed, steamy love story. It had minor triggers. If you wanna know what, please comment below.
No cheating and of course recommended. Kindle unlimited for the time being.
The Bodyguard By Anna Hackett Princess Sofia of Caldova, is in San Francisco on a mission to bring down an organisation that caused her to lose one of her best friends. She tries to be stealthy but of course with a bodyguard like Rome Nash that is completely impossible.
Rome Nash, Norcross Security Investigator and all round fellow badass, he went through a lose when he was younger and is determined to protect those around him, he finds himself protecting the princess and is determined to bring down her stalker. In the midst of jewellery heists a crazy stalker and royal duties these two fall in love.
Secondary Characters The whole Norcross team and their women😂
3.5* Rome is ex-military and works at Norcross Security. Norcross pretty much does everything (security, investigations, etc). Sofie is a princess of a European country in town for a fundraiser; her charity- The Victoria Foundation which assists domestic violence survivors. She has a stalker and a need for a bodyguard. Enter Rome. This had a decent amount of action and romance. Not too serious and just what I was in the mood for. I did like Sofie's dedication to the memory of her friend who was raped and later committed suicide. She also has an awesome secret job too. Rome opened about his traumatic past (his sister was kidnapped, raped, and murdered when they were children).
These are really good stories. Not too long, hot protective alpha men, lots of adventure and excitement, what’s not to like?
So Rome is part of NS and he is off to his next assignment. A bodyguard. But he isn’t thrilled with who he will be protecting. He has met her before and she is impossible to forget. A Princess. A Real Princess. He has no idea how he will keep himself in check around her. She is smart, kind, gorgeous..he’s in for a long week.
Sofia the Princess has several engagements she must attend. Her title, and the multi million dollar jewels she wears pose a problem. Her family hired NS and she is anxious to see him again. Rome. The tall, broad, muscles everywhere, hunky, bodyguard. Sofia hasn’t seen him in a couple of months, and the last time she saw him, she kissed him. She knows there is nothing there but she can dream. The other issue with having a NS guy nearby, she has to find a way to sneak out and get by them and keep her secret from them.
So I can’t tell you everything..what’s the fun in that? This is the first series I have read from Anna Hackett and yes, somewhat out of order, but it’s fine. These have been really good so far. I love the fast paced, some suspense, some romance, interconnected characters. Look forward to more!
Princess Sofia of Caldova is in San Francisco to help promote a royal jewelry exhibition and raise money for her charity. Unfortunately, her stalker has followed her and someone is stealing the gems making their way to the exhibition. Bodyguard Rome Nash is determined to keep the princess safe, even from his feelings.
This was an enjoyable romantic suspense story with a surprisingly spunky princess and a grumpy bodyguard. Rome was a surprisingly sweet guy. He has been a background character throughout this series and we finally get to learn more about him. He struggles with the guilt of losing a sibling and it has made him determined to protect everyone under his care. Rome was just a sweet and protective hero who I instantly liked.
Princess Sofia was a surprise for me. I wasn’t expecting to like her as much as I did. She is the proper princess in public but behind closed doors she was a normal as she could be. I liked how she took certain things into her own hands instead of waiting for authorities to do it. She was courageous and wasn’t afraid to do dangerous things. I really liked that about her.
Sofia and Rome were just a very cute couple and I loved every minute of their relationship. Now can we please have Vander’s book. I really need to know more about the mysterious Norcross brother.
Trigger Warnings: - Attempted kidnapping - Stalking - References to the kidnapping and death of Rome’s sister when they were children - References to the rape and suicide of Sophia’s friend
I will be absolutely honest and say I really didn't know what to expect from this couple. They've met previously but things just didn't quite fit because Rome takes his job as bodyguard pretty seriously. Sofia is without a doubt interested but the big guy is just determined to be professional but hey we as all know that the best laid plans have a habit of being derailed. I really liked this couple and thought the beginning, slight spoiler when there's an attack set the tone for what Sofias life could be like. Definitely a typical spicy romance from this author but with a slightly different twist. This voluntary take is of an advanced copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
Read this if you can believe in a princess that is: - Royalty - Superwoman - Has ONE bodyguard and NO other security measures - Moves in and out of top hotels (Hilton, I think) disguised as servicewomen and NOBODY asks for her credentials - Shoots, runs, scales buildings, cracks safes, and steals jewellery on a regular basis - Shows few manners befitting royalty (kisses H in front of others, asks every random stranger to call her Sofie and not Princess Sofie, discusses her private life with her dresser)
If that doesn't faze you, next up is a rainbow with two pots of gold and a portal opening to the Ice Planet.
3.5 stars for this one. I am thouroughly enjoying this series but I struggled with this book.
It really annoyed me to no end that Sofie kept being described as delicate and beautiful She was so much more than her looks. I also kind of hate the royal/regular person genre especially when one party will have to make a GIANT sacrifice for the HEA.
As always the heat was 🔥🔥🔥, but I struggled mightily with this. Had several powwows with my cousin in order to finally finish. On the the next book in this series.
I don't expect a huge amount of realism from a romance novel but this one took it too far. A princess from a (IMO badly constructed) fictional European country with catburglar-like skills... no, just no

The world of royalty and priceless gems is the focus of The Bodyguard. There's lots going on here including a stalker, a high end jewel theft gang, a multi-million dollar jewelry collection and a Robin Hood type character who steals from the thieves. I enjoyed the relationship development between Rome and Sofie. She may be a princess but she's down to earth, practical and a bit rebellious in addition to being sophisticated, beautiful and regal. Rome Nash is as serious as a heart attack when it comes to being a bodyguard. He's already covered Sofie once for just a matter of hours and he attraction he felt was almost overwhelming. Now, she's to be his charge for days not hours. The game of denial isn't working for them but giving into their feelings may be too dangerous. That is until she's suddenly in imminent dange, then all bets are off. The entire Norcross team plus their women plus the three New York Billionaires are on hand for protecting Rome's woman at a charity gala that's got disaster written all over it. Never fear, they get their HEA but not before some heartstopping moments.
The Bodyguard is book 4 in the Norcross Security series by Anna Hackett. Princess Sofia of Caldova thought that going to San Francisco for her royal jewellery exhibition would lose her stalker, but she was wrong; her stalker followed her, and Rome Nash got involved as her Bodyguard. However, Rome Nash did not realise that Princess Sofia of Caldova had a secret that could affect keeping her safe. For Rome, Nash thinks Princess Sofia of Caldova is a spoiled rich girl. Will they ever be friends? Readers of The Bodyguard will continue to follow Rome Nash and Princess Sofia to discover what happens.
The Bodyguard is another fantastic addition to this excellent series by Anna Hackett. I love Anna Hackett's writing style, which always draws me into her characters and stories from the first page and keeps me engaged to the end. Reading this book made me think about the problems bodyguards face in keeping their charges safe.
I love Anna Hackett's portrayal of her characters and their interactions throughout this book. The Bodyguard is well-written and well-researched by Anna Hackett. I like Anna Hackett's description of the settings in The Bodyguard, which helped me imagine being part of the book's plot.
Love this series and LOVE THIS BOOK SO MUCH. Rome and Sophie’s book was everything I hoped it to be. The storyline and the chemistry between the main couple was awesome!! Rome…he was protective and amazing. He’s my new favorite Norcross man. Can’t wait for the next. I hope and pray for Vander but I know we will get Ace (and I’m not complaining)
La historia está bien escrita y las interacciones entre los protagonistas son dinámicas. La acción y las participación de los personajes secundarios complementan la trama.
Good fun as ever, I do enjoy how very EXTRA this series is - princesses, diamonds, stalkers, oh my! Though perhaps not the most memorable of Anna Hackett's pairings, Rome and Sofie were very deserving of their happily ever after.
Rome and Sophie are a fantastic match. The description of their looks, background, loyalty to friends and family align perfectly. Then add in their chemistry, a little Robin Hood and covert ops and we have a fast paced and spicy romance. All the security brothers and teammates are there and so are the women. Sophie adds in her friend and family and then we meet Rome’s mom and sister. The two Morgan brothers appear again and Ryder and Vander are grabbing my attention more and more. I hope for their two stories soon! This is a great series...well written, full of action and romance and captivating characters. Can’t wait for the next book!
This can be read as a stand-alone, but it is even better when the series is read in order. There are lots of surprises, humor, action, suspense, appearances of characters from previous books, and romance. Princess Sophia has many sides and Rome can’t resist her. The ending is very satisfying and I can’t wait for more books in this awesome series!
Anna new to your writing just wanted to say thanks Never saw that bad guy coming😊😊 looking forward to Ace and Maggie but on the edge of my seat for Vander.......wish I could be HER.
Meh. While the characters and story line had great potential, for me it just fell flat. 85% sex scenes +10% telling us how beautiful and sexy the characters were + 5% intrigue, suspense and actual story line.
Probably my least favourite of this series. I found the princess/burglar idea totally ridiculous and unbelievable. And the princess was too wonderful. Didn't buy her or the relationship.

The title for this one is a dead giveaway – meaning that there is, just occasionally, truth in advertising. The Bodyguard, the fourth book in the terrific action adventure romance Norcross Security series, is, indeed, definitely, absolutely, a bodyguard romance.
So if bodyguard romances trip your trope meter, then this is definitely the book for you – not that the entire Norcross Security series isn’t a whole lot of fun, and not that there isn’t an element of somebody guarding somebody’s body in every single story.
After all, that’s what Norcross Security does – secure, protect and guard precious things and even more precious people. Especially when they discover that those people are especially precious to them.
There’s a certain pattern to bodyguard romances, and that pattern is very much in evidence in this story – with just a few of this author’s signature twists and turns.
We met Rome and Sofie – and more to the point they met each other – in the previous book in the series (my personal fave so far), The Specialist. And they struck plenty of sparks off each other then, even though they weren’t the main event – more like the preview of coming attractions – pun fully intended.
Now that those attractions are very definitely here – the UST is such a big thing in the room that it just can’t remain unresolved for long. But the heart of this story is not about the conflict between Rome’s duty to remain objective so that he can put all of his focus on protecting Sofie.
For one thing, his focus is shot the minute she steps back into his life – and neither of them can step away in spite of the gulf of differences between them.
Not just because Sofie is Princess Sofia of Caldova is a real-life royal, but also because she’s also a real-life thief bearing the nom-de-plume Robin Hood – a secret that she can’t afford to let go of.
But whether she’s the princess or the thief, she is also caught in the cross-hairs of a stalker who plans to kidnap her, rape her and murder her while his gang steals the jewelry collection she plans to auction for charity. A charity that benefits abused women – women like the best friend that her stalker also kidnapped and raped.
Sofie’s out to make someone pay. And pay, and pay some more. The same someone who is very, very definitely out to get her. Rome can’t stop this collision course – no matter how much he tries – but he can be there to make sure that evil gets punished and Sofie walks away more-or-less unscathed.
If she’ll let him.
Escape Rating B: I have some pretty mixed feelings about this book. I’m kind of all over the map about it.
For one thing, if you like the bodyguard trope this is an outstanding example of it. Howsomever, if it’s not your fave – and I have to admit that it isn’t mine, at least in a contemporary setting – the patterns necessary to fit the trope are inherently too obvious for my taste.
But, as I said, if this is your jam it’s a very jammy jam indeed. It’s hard to do a contemporary bodyguard story well – and this is definitely done well.
On my other hand, I personally love the “it takes a thief to catch a thief” concept and pretty much have since the TV show all the way back in the 1970s – I watched it in syndication, so not the original run, but still a damn long time ago.
It’s just that, in this particular story, it jerked at my willing suspension of disbelief because Sofie was so damn good at it with not nearly as much training as it seemed like she would need. But mostly because the idea of breaking out of the house where you’re being protected from your extremely creepy and dangerous stalker in order to break into secure buildings where you might get into even more or worse trouble, when you know that your stalker is watching your current location seems somewhere past foolish.
I like my heroines with agency, but not the kind of agency that makes them look like idiots in desperate need of rescuing.
On my third, or perhaps fourth, hand – how many hands am I up to this time? – I do enjoy the setup of Norcross Security and I’m on tenterhooks waiting for the boss of this crew of ex-military badasses, Vander Norcross, to finally take the fall into romance that he’s watched his brothers (and sister) and his crew plunge into. I loved getting a glimpse of what the folks at Treasure Hunter Security are up to these days, and I liked watching the heat rise – and pretty much combust – between Rome and Sofie – so I’m still happy I read this one.
But, upon reflection, I think that this just wasn’t the right book at the right time for me. If you’re in the mood for an action adventure romance in general, or a bodyguard romance in particular, it might be the right book at the right time for you!
