Navy SEAL Brendon O’Neil spent the past decade executing dangerous missions across the globe. He never expected to be deployed in his own country.

When vital intel points to the potential culprits of this manmade disaster, O’Neil and his highly skilled team are picked to deliver a crucial strike that might help turn this gruesome war around. These elite operators could be America and the world’s best hope.
His team is prepared to give their lives for the ruthless mission they undertake. But sometimes the cost of success is far greater than death.
Hybrid is a standalone novel in the universe of The Tide. It can be read completely on its own with no need to read the rest of the series. For experienced Tide readers, the events of the novel take place in parallel with Books 5 and 6. For the most spoiler-free experience, it is recommended reading any time after Book 6 of the main Tide series.
Anthony J Melchiorri is a scientist with a PhD in bioengineering. Originally from the Midwest, he now lives in Texas. By day, he develops cellular therapies and 3D-printable artificial organs. By night, he writes apocalyptic, medical, and science-fiction thrillers that blend real-world research with other-worldly possibility. When he isn't in the lab or at the keyboard, he spends his time running, reading, hiking, and traveling in search of new story ideas.
Now I've been reminded how much I loved reading about the Hunters!
I've missed the world of Tide and the Hunters - Dom, Meredith and even their first Hybrid Hunter, O'Neil. This journey back to before O'Neil wore the bones has re-infected my old tired mind and now I'm going to have to re-read the series again. Thanks, Tony! It's a good thing I bought the box set to get me started again. Any chance on getting a spin-off Tide series? Or continue the Hunters' story? Maybe?
O'Neil is one of my favorite characters from the Tide Series. I was so excited to read this book and delve more into his story and character. Tide Series is one of my favorite in the genre. O'Neil's character shows the strength and determination and fight to win attitude of the Seals. His character was the main reason the Hunters were able to survive that mission and continue to battle to save the world. Great book and I definitely recommend it to anyone who read the Tide Series or loves this genre.
Anthony J. Melchiorri drew me into the Tide series a few years back. I waited impatiently for each and every new episode. Now, this book appears in my you may like alerts in Amazon. To say I jumped on UT would be an understatement. O' Neal is one of my favorite characters. Just being able to read of his thoughts and feelings has opened up the entire series for me again. Now, I see the light! The Hunters rule!
The Tide series was a world that grabbed me and didn't turn loose! I have read the whole series twice! Was so glad to see O'Neils story unfold. Hope there is more to come. This battle isn't over! Anthony, you ROCK! Thank you! Definitely a 5 star read!
I could not love this series any more than I already do. This is the 11th book I've read in it and, like all the others, this one just left me wanting more. It was a little tough to read sometimes because I knew O'Neil's fate from earlier books, but I loved delving into his backstory and getting to know his team. Highly recommend this whole series!
Hybrid was another thrilling story of The Tide series. It's the story of Navy Seal Brendan O'Neil, his courage and bravery in the fight against the skulls. It was also great to have old favourites appear. I really hope there is more to come. Still brilliant!
Hybrid by Anthony J. Melchiorri is one of those entries that quietly deepens the Tide universe while still standing strong on its own.
Melchiorri has a knack for writing dialogue that feels natural—nothing stiff, nothing overworked. Conversations flow the way real people actually talk, which makes it ridiculously easy to settle in and just be in the scene. That grounded style carries straight into the action, too. When things go sideways (and they absolutely do), the sequences are intense without ever becoming confusing. You can track every movement, every decision, every split-second shift like you’re watching it play out instead of trying to decode it.
What really elevates Hybrid, though, is the perspective it adds. Getting a closer look at O’Neil and how he ultimately finds his place among the Hunters adds weight to a character who already felt significant. It doesn’t just fill in blanks—it reshapes how you think about him going forward.
If you’re already invested in the series, this is an easy recommendation. If you’re not, it still works as a tight, character-driven entry point into Melchiorri’s world.
This is a part an part of the Tides series but very well be read as a solo novel. It tell the story of Brendan O’Neil and his military unit, who became prisoner of the evil force who created the agent causing so much death and destruction.
This book was a fun read and had errors throughout. The plot was okay, a lot of repeating information from the other books in the series, only a different point of view. The characters where okay too; not my favorite, but developed well.
Nice side story from the Tide Series about a soon to be new member of the hunters. It was nice to read another tide story. Hope to read more in the future.
If apocalyptic horror is your thing, you need to read this book, BUT start with The Tide. Work your way through The Hunters’ POVs and then read Hybrid after book 6 in The Tide series.
This is apocalyptic horror with military action at its finest! Think I Am Legend meets G.I. Joe!!
I can’t say enough about this series!! It quickly became a favorite! Pick it up ASAP!!
