Michael's Blade

Rate this book
With her father missing, Zuri fights to keep Hell from falling into the wrong hands. And, are her new-found feelings for Miry even real? Miry, battling her grief, must decide whether what she feels for Zuri is worth fighting for.

Romance takes a back seat as they race to recover Michael's Blade and thwart a second Heavenly War. With obstacles mounting against them, can Miry and Zuri stand up to God's fiercest warrior and save an innocent life or will their year of showing Fallen and Archangels can co-exist end in them both making the ultimate sacrifice?

4 / 5 Stars

I'm giving this 4 stars, because I loved it and I had I good time, but I'd also like to say, that I DO wish, some stuff was handeled differently or rather, this is - again - one of those, 'it needed only about 50 pages more and it would have been perfect' cases. Like, really. I have one mayor complaint and the only thing that was needed to fix it was a longer book.

But first, the good stuff:
All the characters have finally gotten the time and love they deserve ...or well... almost all. If you were a Gabriel stan, you'll still be sad. Our boy just wasn't made for big adventures. We'll get em next time.
The person that I really wanted to see more from was CeCe and wow, not only did she do so good in this one, she was kicking ass left and right. I was hoping for an ace confirmation, but sadly, we did not get one :c It would have been the perfect time to do so, since we spend a lot of time with her and Damien. Raphael was - again - the best and god, I just love him. I'm certain the authors do to. He got what he deserved and honestly? Good for him!
I still hate Zuri's ex. Whose idea was it to write her back into the story? She's absolutly useless and stupid and just here for cheap drama. I almost forgot she was even in the book, but than Zuri makes a few idiotic decisions that lead me to the 'more page time' problem.
See, a certain someone dies in book 3 and Miry is RIGHTFULLY angry. There is a lot anger and betrayel that stands between her and Zuri and that can't be resolve by one quick talk, one intense make-out session or a few good ment words. Miry deserves to be angry. She deserves to feel those emotions. That's what I wanted to see! Zuri & Miry having this big fight. I wanted Zuri to get that she fucked up big time. I wanted for Mirys dad to try and manipulate Miry, for them to work together and for her to double-cross him, after realising what it was that he was doing. I maybe even wanted Lilith to be in on the action. There was so much that could have happend!!! And it all doesn't. Because it doesn't take many chapters for those two to make up. And see, I LOVE them togehter. Not only as a couple, but as a team. I think they're great. But it didn't quiet feel earned to me. I needed more hurt, and more time before they made up again.
Samael felt wasted too, which was kind of a shame. Honestly, you should have just put Uriel on the throne or something.
There are a lot of "I wish it had ended like this instead of this" sentences in this review, because that's how I feel, but that doesn't change, that I did like the story we got. It just felt a little too fast. This is it. There is no more after this. You should have allowed yourself to take it a little slower. Patience, you know. Would have done the book good.

OK, to prove I really liked it: Miry arc: chefs kiss. There is still a lot she's uncertain about. But I'm happy that's the case, because you don't just heal like that. However, if you look at how she acted and reacted in this one, compared to the first one, you just feel how much she's grown as a person. And I'm proud of her. Especially since she's not a fighter. Yes, the books title is Michael's Blade, but it's not the blade that she's wielding in the end. She's choosing to heal instead of kill and forgive instead of hate. I was unsure about her, when I first met her, but she's definitifly one of my favourite characters, now that it's all over.

I know it's over, but honestly, if there were ever going to be more book about those two, I'd read them.

This is book four of the Celestial Academy series and sees Zuri and Miry having relationship issues, after Zuri accidently killed her ex-boyfriend in the previous book, using Uriel’s lariat. Now Miry wants nothing to do with Zuri and presumes she has returned to hell and her father. Only problem is that her father, Lucifer, is actually missing and his second in command Samael has taken over in Zuri and Lucifer’s absence. Miry acts in a fog of grief and hate, getting her father Michael to chuck Zuri out of the academy, so she doesn’t have to worry about her ever coming back to the school, or sharing dorm rooms with her! But Zuri hasn’t actually gone back to hell yet, as she has been trying to get in contact with Miry to apologise and tell her side of the story about what happened to Chris, when they were all trying to fight his evil mother Lilith.

Now Zuri is called back to hell by her friend and reaper in training Damian, who has news of her father’s disappearance and all the plotting going on, as Samael pushes to take over in his absence. Added to all the confusion was Miry’s new feelings for Zuri, just before the battle, when she decided that she might actually be bisexual and like girls, and they had kissed. Now Miry has to figure out if she can ever forgive Zuri or even help her in the fight for her father, especially when she finds out that her own father is responsible for his disappearance and must know where he is being kept. He definitely isn’t in hell and they soon find to he is being held in a place called Limbo. A place where souls end up if it can’t be decided if they should be, either in heaven or hell. It seems Michael is gearing up to finish the war that started in heaven all those millennium ago and wants to kill all those he considers Fallen or demons, especially Lucifer.

They realise they will need one of the Archangel’s relics if they are to succeed and in particular, they will need to gain control over Michael’s Blade, the sword he can use to smit down his foes and remove an angels wings with. Being his daughter, even though it has been proven that he would rather kill her and have her done away with, than continue in his presence, stating she is a waste of space, she can call his sword, as she did in the past. They both still have friends from their homes and school lives, but this could be a deadly endeavour, as they need to try and stop the second Heavenly War, before it destroys all the advances this last year as proven, about the differences between Angel, Fallen and so on, and how well they can co-exist together. Michael has already gathered an army of students, past and present, as well as his other Archangels to take down Lucifer, but an unexpected being gate crashes the ‘chapel’ Lucifer is being held in, just as Zuri and Miry try to free him.

A finale I didn’t see coming, that shows no one is above justice and that punishment can certainly fit the crime, but redemption is always available for those who seek it! I received an ARC copy of this book and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Oh, it was over so soon!

It's the final chapter in the Miry and Zuri adventure. Michael's Blade doesn't disappoint. It drags us from the depths of Hell to the alt and then delivers us. Literally. But it was over. TOO. Soon.

We pick up just where we left off, but only know we are dealing with a moaning Miry grieving Chris. She's angry. And in Miry fashion, she's back to being three-fifths irritating to those around her. Only this time, it's not Zuri that she's annoying.

Zuri is dealing with Hell by going to... hell. And without any support from her bestie, she's handling it like pre-Miry-Zuri. So she's not making the best decisions. Our girl is impulse control positive.

The only thing that can save these two? Heaven knows! Literally. But the end came TOO SOON!

What can you look forward to in this last Celestial Academy book?
Cece finally gets to shine.
Miry's Battle Cry alone is worth the cost of the book.
There is the smooching.
Someone important to the previous books gets to redeem themself.
Someone important in the earlier books gets p-owned.
Zuri and Miry kick butt, yeah, but that always happens.

Michael's Blade is the last book in a four-book series. You MUST read all the books to get to this one. This series is highly recommended. But it is a 4-star rating because the ending is very abrupt, and it's over too soon.

A wonderful addition to the series
“Michael’s Blade” is a fast-paced, action-packed tale that is the fourth installment in the “Celestial Academy” series and it continues the storyline’s plot with even more intrigue that will keep you on your toes. This “Must Read” addition to the series should be on everyone’s TBR list and I highly recommend reading this tale.

After all the battles and struggles, Miryam and Zuri face an army, again

With Samael at the helm of Hell, and Michael using murder and trickery what losses might be ahead?

What role do truth, love and compassion play?

Epic challenges and tests of family and friends

Powerful and paradigm shattering hate and love

Everyone is back and doing what they do best. Be it good guys and bad guys and witty lines. Of course there is fall out from the last story and Zuri is hunting down her dad with help from her friends. It was funny and made me laugh and sigh as Zuri and Miry run hot and cold against each other. Just funny as usual with the updated views of the cold battle and made me try to figure out who is on who's side.

Maybe this series just wasn't for me.Or maybe I expected too much.Anyway,I have never wanted to finish a book more than I wanted to be done with this.I almost went into a book rut because every time I wanted to read I was reminded that this was what I was reading, and that just blew up my boredom. Many reviews are positive so maybe it was just a me thing but there you have it.Shoddy execution to a world thatis practicaly filled with potential. Its a pity it was wasted on this.

Zuri and Miry have one wild ride of an adventure in this final book. The twists and turns, the risk of another holy war, and buried feelings suck the reader in needing to know how it all will end. Can't wait to see what Sarah Biglow writes next.

“Michael’s Blade” is the fourth and final installment in the “Celestial Academy” series by Sarah Biglow & Molly Zenk, one of the most original takes on the extremely successful YA academy genre.

Zuri is trying to keep Hell from its enemies, while his father is still missing, and trying at the same time to sort through her feelings for Miry, but Miry is still ridden with grief over her dead boyfriend and surely not still ready to forgive Zuri, so things are not developing as expected. The fate of both Angels and Fallen is at stake, war is coming and only Michael’s Blade can make a real difference where not even Zuri and Miry friendship has been able to prove that Fallen and Angels can co-exist in peace. Now is time to fight for peace.

“Michael’s Blade” is an amazing addition to the series, which interweaves elements of urban fantasy, YA academy, mythology and a brand new take on angels (fallen and otherwise) into a fast-paced, action-filled, very entertaining page-turner with the signature writing of Biglow and Zenk, who complement each other to perfection. A veritable wonderful series and a must-read recommendation for any Academy fans.
