One Last Breath

Death comes for us all, but right now it’s biting at my heels.

The Arcane Council have accused me of unspeakable crimes and now I’m being hunted by my own kind.

New York has gone straight to hell. Wizards are roaming the streets and I’m so busy trying to save my own skin, that I can’t do anything about it.

With every minute that passes, the Shinigami attack draws nearer.

How can I save my city when it wants me dead?

Rally behind Kasey as she fights for her life in One Last Breath. Here's what other Amazon readers are saying about this ★★★★★ What a magnificent read. Sam took no prisoners with this book. From the very first page you are drawn into the action. Such a spellbinding tale as this you will be hard pressed to beat. No spoilers, but literally a magical experience you won’t want to miss. ★★★★★ I hardly had time to take a breath with a string of shocking surprises. Truly unique and wildly entertaining with an engaging cast of characters. I highly recommend this book!

Sam is a writer of magically-charged fantasy adventures. His passion for action, magic and intrigue spawned his Arcanoverse; a delightfully deluded universe that blends magic, myth, and the modern world in a melting pot that frequently explodes.

When he isn’t hiding away in his writing cave, his favorite hobbies include cooking, indulging sugary cravings, gaming, and trying to make his children laugh. You can find more of his work at www.samuelcstokes.com.

“One Last Breath” was my least favorite book in the Conjuring a Coroner series because the first two thirds of this read was chocked full of activity that does not move the plot forward; so, what was it there? It’s just filler to extend the plot so that more books can be sold. There is no reason why this book could not have been shortened and combined with the previous one.

I will say that the last third of this read was extremely exciting and shocking due to the nonstop action and intrigue. Sanders and Casey have formed a bound and launch a plan to take down Chancellor Arthur Ainsley by any means necessary. They’re re determine to unveil his true identity as the Master of the Shinigami. Of course he is not about to make it easy for them. They are public enemy number one and being hunted by multiple sources. One thing for sure, New York will never be the same.

At this point I have invested so much time in this series and it is close to the end. Therefore I will be going on to the next book. Hopefully, it will be the last!

One Last Breath

A heart stopping thrill ride! With nonstop action at every turn I couldn’t put this book down for a moment to breath. It left me hanging on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen.

Worst outlaws ever

Most of the drama in this book could have been avoided with 5 minutes of planning and a little foresight. Two people who solve crimes for a living should be better at committing them. Everything seems to hinge on luck, no skill, no planning, no insight, just luck
Additionally hostage crisis management Skill is lacking, in that a child could see the holes in the negotiations.
This series has gone from good plot with bad dialogue to dialogue that's a little bit better and a plot that is much worse. Currently I hope the bad guys win. Tom out

Kasey and Sanders are on the run. Accused of high crimes they did not commit. Wizards are stalking them and they desperately need to prove their innocence. This book was a mind blowing, non-stop action page turner with tons of magic. I could hardly catch my breath! I highly recommend this book!

A headlong rush to save the USA

I'm really enjoying this series. One more book to go and I'm not ready for it to get done yet. Kasey, Bishop, Noah, John, Vida and everyone else are important to me now and I need to see them win.

5 Stars plus many more

The end is approaching and Kasey is more than determined that she will be alive long enough to prevent the fall of New York. Trying to avoid the ADI and capture does not go to plan but Kasey keeps moving forward in her efforts to save millions.

I am not sure where the affection for John Ainsley came from seeing that he is at best a minor footnote in the other books.

Samuel Stokes - Conjuring a Coroner Series Bk 5 - One Last Breath - Reviewed 7/22/19
Running is getting old, ADI is around every corner, down on funds, time to fight!!!!

Kasey is tired, she has been running for her life and it has worn her out. The wizards are hunting her down and she has nowhere to turn, nowhere is safe, funds are running out and so is the time. The Shinigami attack will destroy everything that Kasey loves including New York City. She has seen this happen ever since she was 12. She knows who and almost when she just doesn’t how. Now she just has to fight for everything and maybe just give up herself.

What did I like? Kasey is the cutest wizard that I have ever found and I love the trouble that she gets into. She loves hard and tries so hard to protect all that she loves without making it obvious. Now it’s down to brass tacks and she has nowhere to run….

What will you like? Exciting, thrilling, exhilarating, electrifying, sensational action that will take you by storm. Kasey will win your heart and so will SC Stokes and his work. The descriptions will take you right into the middle of the action with every electrifying word you read. Put the kids to bed early and get ready for an arousing read. I received this from the author as a member of the AR team in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion. All opinions expressed are my own and not edited by anyone but me.

I would like to thank S. C. Stokes for sending me this book to review for his “Street Team”. What an exciting continuation of this series. We find our hero on the run with the man who is being accused of all sorts of evil acts of murder and violence against the magic community. She knows of his innocence and that she is innocent of the wrongs they are being blamed for. The villain is the leader of the whole community and he is out for the destruction of not only the world of magic but the whole of NewYork.
There is a slight love triangle beginning but no development, they are too busy running for their lives to get anywhere with relationships anyway. However the thoughts are clean. Very safe for young adults that way, however there is violence that can be a bit over the top for some.
Definitely I would recommend this for young and old who love magical fantasy and police drama as well. It did keep me up into the late hours to finish. Very exciting.

This fifth book in the Conjuring a Coroner series starts off with a bang and keeps Kasey and Sanders fleeing from the ADI using some pretty impressive skills. However, the Shinigami are always one fraction of a step ahead of them. This one is even more hair raising than the last book which is hard to believe. And again I am left wondering what Mr Stokes has in store for the next book in this series. His writing skills are improving with each book. His creativity improves as he thinks up new ways the Shinigami can do damage and how Kasey and Sanders deals with him. What can Mr Stokes come up with next that’s even more impressive? That is the question that we will have to see in the next book. I can hardly wait to read it.

Wow! What a Series!

I fell in love with Kasey in Book 1 because I love coroner and murder mystery stories. Add in the magical stuff and the story has completely captured me. My respect for Kasey has grown as the series progresses. Her relationship with John has had its downs and ups. Her relationship while working with Sanders to catch the Shinigami leader is also interesting. Samuel Stokes has done a great job with this series. I expected the conclusion with this book, but am glad to see the story continued with another book which will be released soon.

Kasey reigns supreme.
The interaction and intensity is from cover to cover and you feel you are there fighting in her corner.
There aren’t many books I’ll stop reading others for, but this is one of them.

High adventure filled with mayhem at every turn.

Kasey is on the run, everyone is out to kill her. She is still trying to take down the Master of the Shinigemi and stop the attack on New York City. Exciting continuation of the story. Looking forward to the next book.

Love the latest from Stokes. Once again, Kasey has found herself in trouble for doing the right thing....and this time she gets some help from an interesting place. Couldn't put it down. Everytime I thought I found a pause, I had to know what was next. You won't be disappointed.

Riveting …. Kasey and Sanders are on the run … will their audacious plans to strike back and reveal the Shinigami work? There are plot twists you will not see coming! You will not be able to put this down! I received a free copy of this book, with no obligation.
