Like every biography there a lot of lessons one can learn from this one. It also describes how his life experiences helped him evolve into a leader that he was. May instances quoted show that he wasn't unusual... Clearly showing that leaders can be 'made'. I am going to take his lessons from being a good public speaker and also the lessons he learnt the hard way about plagiarism.
It's not really about leadership. He starts out by saying it's not a book about politics, but more than half is about politics. This book in a sentence: don't be a dick. Or the subtitle can be rewritten like:A portrait of a bold and empathic leader. There's nothing "How to" about it.
Honestly wanted to know more about Joe Biden after he took stand against Bullys. But unfortunately, this book has poor style of writing, less facts and more opinions.
