Rate this book
A deadly fortune gone wrong, and the determined woman aiming to prove her own innocence in time. Can she beat the ticking clock? New York City, 1925. Florence Winters doesn’t believe much in fate or destiny. After a life-altering move has brought her to the fabulous and glitzy New York City, she’s even more certain that you make your own luck. Except… it looks as though Florence’s luck has just run out. A cheeky good time with her friend Bitsy, turns the tables on the young women when they’re implicated in the shocking death of the mysterious fortune teller they visited only minutes before. Refusing to be seen as a criminal, much less a killer, Florence unpacks her notebook and pen and sets to the task of finding the true killer, before it’s too late. A Fortune Most Deadly is the second book in the Florence Winters Mystery series - a historical cozy mystery series set in the 1920s. They’re full of alluring twists and lovely characters. If you’d like to know more about what Downton Abbey’s own Lady Grantham’s life was like back in America, this is the series for you.

This just did not work for me. The anachronisms were distracting. The plot was just dull. Maybe if I was a young reader who hadn't read as much of actual works from the 1920s it would be ok.

I really liked the first one but this one was just meh. More of a novella than a full blown cozy. This will be it for me.
