He's in too deep and unwilling to go back... the only thing more dangerous than choosing between the possessive boyfriend and the cheshire-grinning tattoo artist is making no decision at all.
Trinket met Mini under odd circumstances - Mini the tattoo artist working late, Trinket the customer getting inked to commemorate a two year anniversary with his longterm boyfriend. Their hookup shouldn't have happened at all, and at least should have lasted that evening and gone no further. Instead, it's evolving rapidly into a game of chicken Trinket is playing with himself.
Things with boyfriend Siebold 'Zee' Li have never been better... or more complicated. Trinket finds himself bolder in the bedroom, but loses his nerve outside of it. His domestic bliss with Zee doesn't feel like a cage, but Trinket is beginning to see the bars. When Zee's coworker glances at Trinket's empty ring finger, Trinket panics. The one he calls to cope is Mini - a man becoming not just side piece, but confidant.
Zee doesn't know he's in competition with another man, but he can sense things aren't right at home. He tries new things in and out of the bedroom - introducing toys, making grand romantic gestures - but his boundary-pushing stands a change of triggering the already unstable Trinket into making things even worse.
Lost in the Linework is the 30k word follow-up to A Taste of Ink , giving readers another taste of the chaos. This book contains cheating and unsafe and risky behavior, and does not end with a HEA/HFN but continues the story leading into part 3.
Daniel May writes MM romance and erotica with a focus on dark contemporary, kink, and BDSM. Originally a lover of sci-fi and fantasy, he turned his sights on the erotic as a joke that went over surprisingly well.
Completed series: The Taste of Ink (rereleased as A Fresh Taste of Ink trilogy) Ongoing series: Hanged Men
I still absolutely despise Mini and I still think he’s an utter creep. I’m still uncomfortable with Trinket’s complete lack of remorse when it comes to his cheating and I still feel super bad for his boyfriend, Zee. I still hate all of the scenes between Mini and Trinket, and I still much prefer the relationship between Zee and Trinket. This is still extremely porny and it still does not have a plot, yet I can still see why many people think this is very hot (especially if you’re into the dom/sub kink).
I wish I could say the second book gave me the improvements in depth and romance I was hoping for, but it actually did the opposite. It became even more smutty and even less affectionate.
I mean, when you think about it, Mini is just an arsehole, Trinket is just a pathetic cheater, and Zee is the oblivious victim who keeps being sweet and devoted. It’s sad. Reading smut while feeling pitying anger are not things that go together well, in my opinion.
'A Fresh Taste of Ink' series: 1. A Taste of Ink - 3.5 stars 2. Lost in the Linework - 2.0 stars
Honestly, I shouldn't have continued. I knew better! I swear I did! (i didn't) The first book was fun and all, but this story doesn't really need to go on for five books.
The MC wasn't feeling guilty at all that he was cheating on his boyfriend. The dude was an amazing bf, he's devoted and loyal in my opinion and he doesn't deserve to get cheated on.
I'm all for cheating in a book but even I have my limits— as surprising as that sounds. I wanna see guilt but the MC has none and that's annoying to me.
I do have a theory though, I think that Zee (the boyfriend) and Mini (the guy he's cheating with) are the same people and they're just roleplaying. That's just my theory, and I ain't sticking around to find out.
Gay couples are god-tier to me and I don't want this book— this series rather— ruining my perception of them. I can find better gay romances with actually good plot and couples I can root for.
Recap: didn't like the lack of remorse, I was annoyed by the MC.
But what do I know. I'm a hypocrite. I have another book at my disposal and surprise surprise it has cheating in it. I'm not eve mad lol 🤷
Ok ok ok, since the first book ended on a cliffhanger, naturally -like any other reader would do- I immediately jumped Into the second book!
Again i’ll say, if cheating is a huge trigger for you, you’re definitely gonna wanna skip this one. Don’t review based off something YOU don’t like just cause you didn’t pay attention to the story.
With that. BOOK TWO WAS SO MUCH MORE THAN BOOK ONE! I literally stayed up until 2 to finish it in one sitting, then forced my husband to wake up so I could fuss about the freakin cliffhanger!!
Mini is my favorite lol he’s got this devil may care attitude about existing and is always wanting to push the boundaries of people! But in concept, he really does mean well lol He wants Trinket and Trinket loves that shit lol it’s like with Mini, his natural submissive comes out. The sex is steamy as hell, both Zee and Trinculo are really starting to let their hair down and take or demand what they want in the bedroom. Now outside of that? I’m not sure if Zee notices that he’s been getting cheated on and it’s set up like he’s doing a little sneaking around himself but it could just be the way guilt is playing it for Trinket. Adores this series, can’t wait for book 3! The book literally stops...i’ve got a serious case of blue balls and it made me angry.

I just can't get enough of this story! It's so, so good! Love every page of it, so hot and so well written. The emotions, all the cheating and the tattoo scenes, oh god, perfect!
Trinket and Mini together, ahhh I just love how Mini changed Trinket's world, and I love how Trinket opens his eyes and soul to everything that Mini has to give to him. And Zee! He isn't that innocent either, he is just as kinky as Trinket and Mini, just he is afraid of it. Ahh, I really can't wait to know how this story will end.
The cliffhanger is killing me, the book ended at the hottest scene ever, and I'm so frustrated over it! It's like a ruined orgasm... no satisfaction! Ahh I need book 3 like yesterday!!!
This story is unique, hot and kinky, and so, so addicting!
Um......... I need part 3 toute suite (right away lol). Zee, Trinket and Mini are crossing lines all over the place. The tattoo saga continues, but it becomes more when Trinket seems to be looking for direction. He may tell himself that he is only trying to give Zee exactly what he wants and needs but he is soon finding out that he, himself is the glue, the sticky paper that keeps both Zee and Mini coming back for more. While not exactly a wallflower, he doesn't really see himself as others do but he is finally seeing what he wants, what he needs and what he craves. There are secrets hidden with both Mini and Zee that I can't seem to uncover but I'm truly enthralled by the story.
What can I say that's not a spoiler? Not much, go read the first book.
Anyways, this book is heady. I'm so hyped for the third installment after the way this one ended. Terrible kinky things are going to happen and I'm excited. As for this book, I feel like it's served as more padding for the story and the characters Rather than a continuation of the plot if I make sense. Now it does progressed the plot, that does happen but there's a lot of development and back story in here as well. We see more of Trinket and Zee's relationship and we're left believing they truly do love each. As for Trinket and Mini, I don't know how much I believe the rationale behind them but I'm into it.
The thing that's really bringing these books home to me is the writing. It's so addicting and poetic, while still be really dirty. It's a ride that I'm so happy to be on. 5 cuz I have a problem. That problem being I want to see all three of them together. That's never going to happen though. Zee does not strike me as the kind of person who shares.
I can't wait for the next one! This is a super hot read and you are at the edge of your seat waiting for the secrets to unfold. Trinket gets off on going behind his boyfriend's back with this sexy tattoo artist, but it also has made his relationship better than ever. Mini brings him excitement, confidence and he finds himself into deep to ever stop. I still can't connect to anyone and maybe thats way it makes it easier for me to accept the situation or maybe the author is just that damn good of a writer that it doesn't matter to me. I'll go with the latter.
Lost in the Linework continues the story of Trinket that cheats on his boyfriend Zee with tattoo artist Mini. This book is unlike any other I have previously read and is heavily focused on the relationship between Trinket and the other two as well as his cheating. The book is very steamy and hot with erotic and kinky mm scenes. It does end in a cliffhanger and need to read the next book in the series.
This second book in the series picks up right where book one left off. The hotness in this series continues as Trinket goes between long-time boyfriend, Zee and tattoo artist, Mini. This series does contain cheating with not exactly cliffhangers but definitely not full endings. I cannot wait for the next book!
Lost in the Linework picks up right where Taste of Ink leaves off. Trinket is in deep love with Zee and continues his tattoo additions for him. Meanwhile Trinket and Mini have their own thing going on. Mini fuels those desires for Zee in Trinket. The story is intense and well written. It’s hard to write more without spoilers. Just read the book. I can’t wait for the 3 book.
I thought book 2 will give me the answers I need but I was definitely wrong! Trinket is in a tangled mess with his long term boyfriend Zee and whatever he has going on with Mini.
Zee can sense that something's a miss bit he can't put his finger on it.
This series gets more and more interesting and I can't wait to see the mayhem that is about to ensue.
We delve deeper into Trinket and his games and oh man it is jam packed with salacious goodies. I loved how free and experimental Trinket has become but I am extremely intrigued as to how everything plays out. Raunchy and secretive I immensely enjoyed this too hot to handle sexcapade and look forward to everyone having a climatic blow out.
We’re again caught up in Trinket’s head while he navigates his situation. The pace is good. It’s hard to look away from what’s happening. I haven’t connected to the characters in any which way, but I like the feeling of watching what’s happening. I’m ready to see what’s next.
This is book two in Daniel May’s A Taste of Ink series - I devoured both the first and second books in one evening. I seriously cannot wait to read book 3 - these are incredibly sexy stories. You have to read these!!
This series is decadent. These characters leap from the Kindle screen like real people. The things they do together - alone - to and with each other - are exquisitely detailed. This series is painfully, embarrassingly, perfectly lush. I can't wait for the next one!
2 books in and I’m as hypnotised by this as trinket seems to be. It’s entrancing, I feel like I’m being pulled into some kind of labyrinth and I’m wondering what is waiting for me around some of the corners. Well written and great characters.
I had the same issues with this book as I did with the last. I started the 3rd book but DNF. I can’t. The premise is ridiculous. I don’t care about the cheating, I hate the fact the fact that he went to get tattoos just to see Mini.
