فرناندو بيسوا (13 يونيو 1888–30 نوفمبر 1935) هو شاعر، وكاتب وناقد أدبي، ومترجم وفيلسوف برتغالي، ويوصف بأنه واحد من أهم الشخصيات الأدبية في القرن العشرين، وواحد من أعظم شعراء اللغة البرتغالية، كما أنه كتب وترجم من اللغة الإنجليزية والفرنسية. من أعماله: كتاب اللاطمأنينة، أناشيد ريكاردو رييس، لست ذا شأن، الباب و قصص أخرى، قصائد ألبارو دي كامبوس، راعي القطيع والقصائد الأخرى.توفي بيسوا في لشبونة عام 1935 بسبب التليف الكبدي.
جورج باتاي (1897-1962) الذي ارتبط اسمه بالمؤلفات الجنسانية والإيمان والإلحاد، خبير في مجال الهوى. جمع في حياته وكتاباته بين الميادين المتناقضة وحاول التفكير فيها كلها. هاجسه الأول الإحاطة بالإنسان التام، غير المبتور، في عنفه وإفراطه، في إنسانيته العاقلة وفي اغترابه ومجونه. ولعل الجسد الذي استهواه في إنسانيته وشيئيته اصبح هاجسه الأوحد.
بيير باولو بازوليني Pier Paolo Pasolini مخرج سينمائي إيطالي ولد في مدينة بولونية (إيطالية) وتوفي في أوستية (بالقرب من رومة). استقر في رومة منذ عام 1949 ودرس الفلسفة في جامعتها، وبدأ اسمه يظهر على الساحة المحلية كاتباً روائياً. كانت أعمال بازوليني الأدبية تهتم بالأعمال البائسة والأحوال القاسية التي تعاني منها الطبقات العمالية الكادحة. وتَمثل حبه للسينما بمحاولات أولى في كتابة «السيناريو» (مخطط الفيلم)، وكان فرحه عظيماً حين تبنى المخرج الإيطالي فيديريكو فِلّيني F.Fellini أحد أعمال «السيناريو» هذه وأخرجها للسينما.

It is sometimes said that the four greatest Portuguese poets of modern times are Fernando Pessoa. The statement is possible since Pessoa, whose name means ‘person’ in Portuguese, had three alter egos who wrote in styles completely different from his own. In fact Pessoa wrote under dozens of names, but Alberto Caeiro, Ricardo Reis and Álvaro de Campos were – their creator claimed – full-fledged individuals who wrote things that he himself would never or could never write. He dubbed them ‘heteronyms’ rather than pseudonyms, since they were not false names but “other names”, belonging to distinct literary personalities. Not only were their styles different; they thought differently, they had different religious and political views, different aesthetic sensibilities, different social temperaments. And each produced a large body of poetry. Álvaro de Campos and Ricardo Reis also signed dozens of pages of prose.
The critic Harold Bloom referred to him in the book The Western Canon as the most representative poet of the twentieth century, along with Pablo Neruda.
