I read this book with great interest as it concerned my family, Michael Mordue being my Great Grandfather and Jacky Mordue being my Great, Great Uncle. It was great to read about my Grandfather ( Tucker ) coming into the world and the book went on to highlight the difficulties and hardships faced by families back in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, child mortality rates being very high. The book did however leave me with a lot of unanswered questions and a little confused with some of the family histories. I would like to get in touch with the author as his part of my family I know very little of but have been unable to do so. The book is a great read and makes me feel immensely proud of my family, should Everett Monaghan read this review please get in touch with me at peterjames1953@hotmail.com...
Read as its about my family and revealed a history I wasn’t aware of and feel very proud of. The author has captured the sense of community in a coal mining area that I knew growing up and some of the slang reminds me of my youth!
