New York Times bestselling author TJ Klune invites you back to the land of Verania in a new collection of short stories starring the beloved characters from the Tales of Verania series.
In the opening story—The Unicorn in the Tower—Gary is a princess trapped in a stone tower by the evil Lady Tina DeSilva, who plans on sacrificing him on the first full moon after his eighteenth birthday. With help from his friends—a bird named Tiggy and a mangy weasel called Sam—Gary interviews potential suitors to rescue him and love him above all others, as he so rightly deserves.
The Unicorn in the Tower is followed by Sam and the Beanstalk, wherein a poor farm boy exchanges his family’s bull for magical beans and the promise of treasure in the sky. But when he climbs the beanstalk, Sam finds things are not as he expected them to be.
The Good Boy sees Todd and his immaculate ears taking center stage. When Todd’s father dies, he leaves his son in the care of his evil stepmother and two stepsiblings who live to make Todd’s life a living hell. It’s not until the household receives an invitation to attend a ball for the mysterious Sir that Todd begins to wish for a life beyond what he knows.
David’s Dragon, the final—and only canonical—tale, is set a thousand years before the rise of the Dark wizard Myrin. It begins simply: a lonely boy in a small village befriends a dragon. What follows is a story of love and sacrifice, hope and heartbreak, and what it means to earn your place amongst the stars.
Welcome back to Verania. It’s going to be a hell of a ride.

I truly wanted to completely and unconditionally love this set of stories a whole lot more than I actually did.
** The Unicorn in the Tower **
Gary was his usual self-absorbed self, but the funniest part for me was the "weasel-fucker", which made me snort.
** Sam and the Beanstalk **
This was probably my favorite story of the lot, with Sam trading the family bull to Vadoma for magic beans, which I feared might not end well for Tiggy, Ryan, Gary and Kevin's "Cloud City", but blessedly had a very happy ending for all.
** The Good Boy **
This was definitely my least favorite of the stories. Although I really liked Todd and his awesome ears, OMMFG, the whole Sir and boy dom/sub vibe going on was entirely NOT. MY. THING. At all.
** David’s Dragon **
While this story was the only one with any true plot line dealing with the history of Verania, Christ, the total feeling of DREAD that consumed me for the entire story was not worth having details of those past events filled in.
I mean, the townspeople ended up David's beloved dragon, for fucksake! Hated. It.
I'd rate this book as a whole at around 3.25 stars for overall enjoyment, all things considered.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
I have mixed feelings about this one… It was funny and heartwarming at times, but also weird, and I think I was just not in the mood for that today. It is a good thing I am alone at home, because there is no way I could listen to this with my family around, and not be cast out of my own home. 😅
This book gets extra points, thanks to Micheal Lesley’s stellar narration, but while I did enjoy parts of the stories, and I liked the last one even more because it was “new content”, overall I can’t say that I was the biggest fan of this novella. Still, I have to give credit to TJ Klunne for this. The Tales of Verania series is already pretty intense and absurd, but he managed to write an even crazier novella that made me laugh, cringe, too, sure, but also brought me to tears, all in less than 300 pages.
The first short story is a Rapunzel retelling, with Gary acting as the poor prisoner up in his tower, needing someone to have sex with him before his 18th birthday so he can get free from the evil witch Lady De Silva. This story was “written” by Gary, and it shows. He is the star of it, and while it starts as a funny and absurd tale, it quickly devolves into a weird AF sex adventure between Kevin and him.
The second story is another retelling, this time of Jack and the Beanstalk, and it features Sam as a main character. This one reminded me more of the rest of the series, with some ridiculous moments, but also the friendship and family vibe was present, and some sweet moments between our favorite crazy gang. It also gave our sweet Tiggy a chance to shine even more.
The third one was just awkward. It is a weird Cinderella retelling with a BDSM vibe to it. It’s the one I liked less, first because I do not care about Todd as much as I do about the other characters, but also because it became just weird after a while. But as I said, this might also be a case of “it’s not you, it’s me” because I feel like I am not in the right mood for this book at the moment.
Finally, we have an “original” tale, explaining how Castle Locke and the city of Lockes came to be, centuries ago, and I like that this story is actually like a prequel to the series. This one also felt more emotional, and a part of me dreaded the ending (). In classic TJ Klune fashion, after making us laugh in the previous stories, this one wrecked me a little. The ending was just so intense and cruel and horrible, but it made me feel so many emotions. I can’t deny that it was heart-wrenching but beautifully written.
This spans from absolute shameless ridiculousness in the Rapunzel retelling featuring Gary as the titular heroine, to the classic Jack (aka Sam) and the beanstalk with so many warm fuzzy feels, to an odd bdsm Cinderella with Todd as the beleaguered hero, to ending with a tragic legendary tale of how Castle Lockes came to be.
Michael Lesley narrating only further elevates the storytelling, making this a win no matter what. Just be forewarned that this runs the entire gamut of emotions which affected my enjoyment factor most erratically, as is evident by my average score. Regardless, this is Klune, and you know he can bring the laughs as well as the tears!
Relisten 3: I need to laugh before diving back into the Zodiac Academy pain💀 Gary: "I hope you like banana nut bread because that's what I got cookin." Kevin (in a Scottish accent): "I'm gonna banana nut all over you." 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Relisten 2: listen you have not lived until you listen to an unhinged rupunzel retelling starring a gay unicorn named Gary and a sexually aggressive Scottish dragon named Kevin😂😂😂😂😂 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Relisten 1: The best and funniest audiobooks to ever exist😂 gary and kevin foreverrrrr🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶 i have been unslumped.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ First listen: I don't think I have ever laughed this hard in my entire adult life 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Welcome back to Verania, finally! I was so overjoyed to get back to this world, these hilarious, fabulous book-people, and all the wild, weird and wonderful that TJ Klune mixes so well. TJ writes the best book-crack! Or cracked books, LOL. Either/or, they both work. 😏
The Unicorn in the Tower was exactly what I would expect if Gary wrote the story, with Gary as the main-diva. Predictably, I was either laughing my ass off or * along with Sam* mildly disgusted, because Gary & Kevin, of course. 😂😂
Sam and the Beanstalk bought me back to everything I love about these guys! The priceless ridiculousness, the heart and sweetness, and the amazing family that I have so missed. 🥰
With The Good Boy, would you believe you can even have sweetness with Sir? *swoon* Todd, he of the magnificent ears, gets the rawest deal possible when his beloved father dies unexpectedly *with guess who all as the evil, wicked step-sters 😡* But when a ball is held and all are invited, Todd's besties make sure he gets a shot at what he so richly deserves. Time and time again, TJ shows us how it's not always blood that makes family, and I love it every, single time. ❤
And then there's the final tale, David's Dragon. 👀
This is me, from partway through to the end:
Damn you TJ, stop doing that to me! *sigh* Seriously, I want to be mad at him for breaking my heart all the freakin' time. But in the midst of all the snark and laughter, all the absurd and fantastical, he gives me stories that I'll never forget. That make it a privilege to have my heart broken by him.
I genuinely hope that TJ Klune never, ever stops writing, because I never want to stop reading his stories.
As a huge fan of Klune’s Tales from Verania, I was really excited to get to spend more time with all the endearing and outrageous characters we’ve come to know and love across a series that is undoubtedly one of my all-time-favourites.
Here, we get gifted four new stories, three of which are fairytale retellings with a Veranian twist, with a fourth story that is canon, set a thousand years before Sam and his friends battled the dark wizard Myrin, telling the powerful and heartbreaking story of David and his beloved dragon.
Story one: The Unicorn in the Tower
This is 100% Gary being Gary… if Gary were Rapunzel locked aware in a tower by an evil, power-hungry Lady Tina. This one was short, silly and as outrageous as you’d expect from a story starring Gary. It was fairly ridiculous and stupid, in a snort-out-loud while you’re reading kind of way, but it put a solid smile on my face.
Story two: Sam and the Beanstalk
This was the most delightful and charming of the collection, with all the characters feeling true to form, simply meeting in a new setting and circumstances as characters in Jack and the Beanstalk. I adored Tiggy in this one, which is nothing new, but I was glad to see he had a chance to truly shine here, in all his gentle-giant, pure-of-heart glory.
Story three: The Good Boy
This third tale took an unexpected turn, delivering a BDSM-lite story, featuring Todd as a Cinderfella who rises out of the confines of his life (ruled by horrible step-father Gary and his two adopted brats, Justin and Tina) to find his true love in the form of a kinky Lord known as Sir.
I always love me some Todd, with his fascinating ears and shy manner, but I don’t particularly love me some BDSM or kink in my stories, so this took me by surprise. For what it was, I liked it well enough, but yeah, the overall themes just weren’t for me. (Plus, I hated seeing Gary as the villain, even though it felt like an all-too-easy role for him to fill).
Story four: David’s Dragon
This story ruined me.
As much as I craved having at least one new story in the Verania canon, the tale that unfolded between David and his dragon, Lockes, was one that left me bereft and heartbroken.
Due to the fact that the story began on a foreboding note, I proceeded to read on with a heavy sense of dread, which was warranted when the story culminated in a tragic and devastating ending that left me angry and inconsolable for a solid two hours after I’d finished.
It’s one of those injustice stories that makes me rage against the cruelty of humanity. People suck, by and large, and this story just wanted me to tear the world apart to find a happier ending for David and Lockes.
Unsurprisingly, the writing quality of this story was top tier, but the weight of this story sat heavy on my shoulders and I honestly can’t decide whether I hated it or loved it.
Truly, I have no idea how to rate this collection of stories as a whole, so I’m simply not going to bother, but fans of the series will surely take something away from this experience, even if it's simply to revisit characters they know and love.
Audio Edition:
As usual, Michael Lesley slays with his vocal performance. The way he inhibits some of these characters, in all their hilarity, honesty and heart, is a wonder to behold. This will always remain my favourite of favourite series to listen to on audio, of that I have no doubt.
Relisten #5 (I skipped David's dragon though because I don't want to cry. The world sucks enough atm)
Bibbity Bobbity Fuck!
...................
Relisten #4 Did I do good? 😭😭😭
Relisten #3
*welcome home*
Reslisten #2
The steps of listening to this audio:
The Unicorn in the Tower aka Gary is Rapenzal. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 with a bit of 😳😳😳😳 because of Kevin and Gary's bakery.
Sam and The Beanstalk 🤣🤣😍😍🤭🤭😍😍 because Tiggy is Life and Ryan lusting over Sam in any universe is goals. Also some 😳😳😳 because Kevin and Gary.
Todd and Sir where Todd is Cinderfella and Gary, Justin and Lady Tina are the evil stepmom and stepsiblings. 🥺🥺😌😌🤭🤭🤭😳😳❤ This was my least fave in the book even though Sir and Todd were hot! Also Mama as the fairy god mother? EPIC . Bibbity Bobbity Fuck! Need I say more?
David's Dragon aka the story that made me cry start to finish! Damn you TJ KLUNE! 🥺🥺🥺🥺😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 Gahh this story was BRUTAL. All I felt was dread over whay I knew would be something very bad. And I was right. My heart hurt 💔 this was the only story was an actual plot that related to the original series. The history of David and his dragon, why they became stars and how the City of Locks came to be.
PLEASE let this include the butler and the manticore 🤞🤞🤞 --- edit after reading: ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
This was me throughout the book: 😂😆😂😭🤧😂😁😭🤧😁. And I repeated.
Unicorn in the Tower. Gary, an unicorn-diva queen who doesn't need anyone because he's amazing. Gary: That's right. Much less of a man with a huge pen- Gary: Stop. Stop. How about that. How. About. that. Hmm. I loved it. I laughed a lot. Kevin and Gary are the best weird couple ever.
Sam and the Beanstalk Do you know the feeling when you are with your family or friends and you laugh so hard, you stop for a moment and you feel happy because they are in your life? That feeling leaves me with this story.
The good boy I didn't expect the twist this story took. But I loved it and how to describe this story? You are alone and everything in your life is going so wrong, and you wonder why this is happening to you. But then oh then you find friends where you least expect it. And they support you and make everything better. And love comes, and it makes you feel protected.
David's Dragon Oh God. This story. It's beautiful and heartbreaking. This story is about a dragon and a boy, how they make friends and form a unique connection. But at the same time, how cruel people are and are unable to understand what they cannot imagine.
"I'm ... I'm flying. We're flying. Can you feel it? Can you see it?"
This story broke and rebuilt me. I loved it. Tj, you are so fucking amazing.
5 Stars for the Narrator. Michael Lesley is just one of the best narrator's out there. He does a fantastic job once again. All the stars always for him. 💜
Story Review:
This is a collection of stories. It is the retelling of fairy tales which of course has TJ's twist using the characters we know and love.
The Unicorn in the Tower
2 Stars
This was just pure silliness. It is TJ's version of the story of Rapunzel with Gary as the main character. There is a whole lot of Gary and Kevin than I ever wanted to hear lol
Sam & the Beanstalk
3 Stars
Instead of Jack and the Beanstalk it is Sam. Sam gets the beans and in his Beanstalk is a castle where a giant lives with his friends he has collected over the years. Initially Sam was looking to find treasure to help his family instead he found himself friends for a life time.
The Good Boy
3 Stars
TJ's version of Cinderella. In this one Todd, with the best ears, is the main character. Gary is the evil step mother and Justin and Tina the step sisters. It is all casts really perfectly especially when Mama is the Fairy Drag Mother. The one thing I didn't like was how evil Gary was. Gary can be a b**ch but usually it is for reasons and also it is usually directed at people who deserve it. His treatment of sweet, sweet Todd was not deserved. It was one of the first times I did not like Gary. Yikes! However, there was a kinkly ever after and I appreciated it.
David's Dragon
3 stars
When David was born he always had this voice in the back of his mind connected to him. As he grew older the voice became louder until one day he met the creature behind the voice (a dragon). The two become friends and grow to love one another. This is all in secret. David lives his regular life in the city where his mom is mayor, his dad by her side and his best friend/ husband Levi.
David keeps his secret for many years afraid if anyone knew they would try to hurt his friend. Turns out David was right. David suffers a great loss. He goes on a journey to find the oldest dragon in existence when he meets him he is set on a task. If David completes this task he will then be reunited with his dragon. David is determined to have that happen so, he does as he was told.
This is the story of how the city of Locke's became to be. It was sad and heartbreaking but IMO a bit boring. I wanted more. I needed the drama of what happened to the town's people after to play out lol
Overall it was an entertaining listen because Michael Lesley is top notch!
If anyone can write non-canonical crack!fic of their already crack!fic series, it is T.J. Klune with the Tales from Verania series. This is fanservice in the best way possible because the only people who will adore this absolute batshit and bonkers entry into the world of Verania are the people who ride or die for the first four books. It's no secret that this is one of my favourite series so I was counting down the days until I got a copy of this in my hands (and ears, thank you for your service Michael Lesley!) Fairytales From Verania goes beyond the pale in ways that the previous books only dreamed of. If you're not a fan of callbacks and repetitive jokes (Monty Python style), crude (often immature and politically incorrect) tonal humour, or the defiling of baked goods - then these books will never be for you. Me however, I hope I'm crude and immature until the day I die.
First story is the most hilarious, just so Klune. The second introduces a bit of feels besides the laughs. The third with Todd has even more feelings with a side of absurdity. The last one has PAIN!!
The Good Boy - a take on Cinderella with Todd and his magnificent ears as the MC and Gary as the villain. Pretty good but Gary got on my nerves
David's Dragon - this is an original story that ties into the main Verania books and had me crying my eyes out. I was a bit disappointed that we didn't get to see what happened to the horrible townsfolk and David's family other than a general aftermath.
All the tales in this book are pretty awesome, but the final tale David's Dragon is head and shoulders above the rest. First read it a number of years ago when TJ first released it. I seriously ugly cried then and just as much again now. David's Dragon is TJ Klune at his absolute very best!!!!!!
Retellings of three classic fairy tales Verania-style with Gary in a hysterical 'Rapunzel' retelling, Sam in a sweet 'Jack and the Beanstalk' reimagining, and Todd as a Cinderfella (with Gary playing the evil stepmother a little too well, and Justin and Tina being just awful...) getting his kinky happily ever after, then finishing with an original fairy tale that gives us the history of David and his dragon. Pack a Kleenex for David's story. ❤️
"It’s said, even now, that if you look upon the stars on a clear night, you will see David and Lockes, wings spread across the heavens. A boy and his dragon, together for eternity."
Michael Lesley is once again brilliant in his narration with fantastic voices, effects, pacing, timing...An absolute pleasure to listen to.
My rating is only for David's Dragon. Welcome back to Verania. David's Dragon, the final (and only canon) tale, takes place a thousand years before the rise of the dark wizard Myrin. It begins simply: a lonely boy in a small town befriends a dragon. What follows is a story of love and sacrifice, hope and heartbreak, and what it means to earn a place among the stars. TJ Klune, it is so amazing the way he weaves a story, to me, of the greatest authors of all time, writing about love and emotions. This is one of them, essential for lovers of Verania; he takes hold of you and escapes you with your heart.
Now, what I didn't like. I'm well aware that I'm in the minority here. I'm sorry! The first three books have nothing to do with Verania. Retellings! They don't interest me, especially, the first story. "The Unicorn in the Tower" Sadly, it made me hate Gary and never want to hear from him again. I want more stories from Verania with all her endearing characters; with Sam, Ryan, Tiggy, Justin, Morgan .... Anyone !! But please, please, let Gary run an errand in a faraway country and if he ever comes back, leave him until the end of the story.
What a time, i loved getting back with the characters that have stolen a place in my heart.
I think for an in between book it was a good one, especially the “David’s Dragon” one that was my favorite of the 4 although the first one with Gary had me laughing out loud multiple times which i was expecting since Gary is always good with those shock factor statements haha.
Overall glad i read it but i was definitely wishing it was Justin’s story haha but can’t wait for next year to read that!!!
So, that happened. It seems no matter where Gary goes, he can't help but be a sex starved Diva. :D
These were fun, and I laughed in spots, groaned in spots, and rolled my eyes, but overall I enjoyed these funny fairy tales using our favorite characters. The last story though...oh, my - if I had been alone while reading I would have cried buckets!!! I was able to hold it in but it wasn't easy. Now I need to go back and re-read the series to see how David and his Dragon played a part in Sam's story. Oh, the torture of having to re-read the best series, I don't know how I will ever get over the trauma. LOLOLOLOLOLOL! :D
Sam and Ryan as cute little mice, yes please!!!! And then poor Todd, I hurt for his story for sure. Gary the bitch step-mother (step-unicorn?) was not a pretty picture, and then Tina and Justin as the step-children, yikes!
Separate story, Tiggy as the giant in the sky with Ryan and Gary, so fun! Then Sam climbs the bean stalk and they become friends, insta-love with Ryan, the towns people run to rescue Sam but of course realize Sam's not in danger and...you can figure out the rest. :D
Overall 4 stars, but the last story, all the stars, literally.
Fairytales from Verania is a collection of four stories featuring the characters from T.J. Klune’s excellent Tales from Verania series. I just love this series, so I was excited to see that Klune was putting out what is officially book 4.5 to tide us over until Justin’s story is released. This is an interesting collection in that the tone ranges widely, moving from silly and over-the-top at the start of the book to intense and emotional by the end. We also get differing styles, as the first three stories are fairytale retellings, while the fourth is Verania canon with a new story set before the time of Sam and the gang.
Overall, I found this a fun collection that I think will appeal to fans of the series. I am not sure new readers will get as much out of this one, especially since there are a lot of jokes and references to things that happen in the main series. But I think those who love the world of Verania will enjoy this one and it is an engaging collection.
3.5 La cosa es esta: he disfrutado todas las historias, exceptuando quizás la de Gary Rapunzel, perdón, pero wtf con todo. Más wtf de lo normal. Pero tampoco se me han hecho increíbles. Mi favorita es la de David's Dragon, en realidad. Odiaba ese personaje, pero magistralmente se me llevó a amarlo y a llorar cada segundo a partir de _aquel momento_. Terminé deseando más de ellos, sí. Creo que el libro me hubiera gustado más de ser cuentos dentro del canon, pero quería probarlo así.
Así: La de Gary: 2 ☆ La de Sam: 3☆ La de Todd: 3☆ La de David's Dragon: 5☆
Original review 5+ I mean, was there ever gonna be another rating for this? I think not. How TJ Klune is able to go from making me absolutely die with laughter in the first story to wanting to sob in the last, is a mystery thats never been solved.
I will say I was unprepared for the kinky Cinderella with Todd and Sir but I also think that was my favorite story. Just the right amount of heartache and sweetness mixed together. I've also never hated Gary before that story.
The laughs I got from the first story alone is worth the money I paid for this book. Gary rapunzel, Sam of the Beanstalk, and s&m cinderfella stories were ALL hilarious and gradually got more heartfelt. I knew, I just knew the last story, David's Dragon, was going to make me cry. 😭 Damn you TJ Klune! Making me have all these feelings. Sniffle. I'll probably wait a full four days before I start re-reading.
It's always nice to revisit these characters. Seeing them in sort of 'alternate realities' was so fun, they're the same characters we love in new, fantastical situations. The last story, the only canon story, was tragic. It's sort of a legendary and epic tale on how the City of Lockes came to be.
I recommend the audio version of this story. Michael Lesley brings every single character to life and just makes the experience of listening to this so fun.
Have some mixed feelings about this short story collection, but for the most part it was enjoyable
The Unicorn in the Tower - 2 stars This was the weakest of the collection and the one I enjoyed the least. The story was boring: it was a retelling of Rapunzel with Gary wanting to lose his virginity before Tina, an evil witch, could kill him on his 18th birthday. Add the cringe jokes and it was meh. Also the "real" characters kept making comments outside of the short story (as in Ryan would say "hey I wouldn't do that") and it kept taking me out of the story.
Sam and the Beanstalk - 3 stars Enjoyed this story a bit more as it was more engaging. It's a retelling of Jack and the Beanstalk, with Sam and his best friend Morgan, a chicken (lmao), as they climb a beanstalk and find Tiggy the giant, Gary, Kevin, and Ryan!
The Good Boy - 5 stars I've read a few reviews where people say this was their least favourite story, but I found this amazing! This felt like a proper retelling, whereas the other two stories didn't. It's a retelling of Cinderella with Todd as Cinderella, GARY AS THE EVIL STEPMOTHER (which is hilarious!), Justin and Tina as the ugly stepsisters, Sir as the Prince, and SAM AND RYAN AS THE MICE 😂. Seriously, how could you not enjoy this story ?
David's Dragon - 5 stars This is the only canonical story in the collection (which is a bit strange considering this is a fictional fairytale that -- it sounds as though -- the characters have written about themselves. But that's just me guessing.) Regardless, I loved this story. It's the origin story of the star constellation David's Dragon from the main series, featuring the actual David. The story is super engaging, I loved David and his dragon and was crying by the end of the story. There are so many Easter eggs to the main series, I was freaking out! Would love for TJ to write more canonical short stories please.
Despite the cringiness and annoying parts of the first two stories, the last two really made this collection! I'll definitely be rereading those two stories again.
T.J. Klune is one of my favorite authors so I knew when he decided to put his own spin of classic fairytales, they would be unlike anything I have ever read before, and I was right. Filled with the characters you love in a whole different way Fairytales From Verania is the perfect collection for fans of the Tales from Verania series.
The Unicorn in the Tower I felt like this story was the role that Gary was born to play. A damsel in distress stuck in a tall tower just waiting for a man (even though he don't need no mans) to come and rescue him. This story was over the top goofy and I loved it so much. Especially the bit with Randall and King Anthony. Don't over think it just embrace the hilarity of Gary making Sam a weasel and his obsessively weird need to get boned and his bakery smelling booty.
Sam and the Beanstalk Nothing like trading your bull for magic beans and your family getting mad at you and then climbing up a beanstalk to find a castle and a whole merry band of misfits. Tiggy was in charge, Gary & Kevin were the same as usual and I don't think there will ever be a universe where Ryan Foxheart is not completely captivated by Sam. Again, don't think too much into these stories they are called fairytales for a reason. They are to give you hope and Sam and the Beanstalk gave me hope.
The Good Boy T.J. Klune made his version of Cinderella with a dom and I am shook. This might not be Todd's actual happily ever after but if it was, I would be okay with that. Who knew the sweet boy with the best ears got off on being told he was a good boy or that his two best friends would be mice named Sam & Ryan. I think this might be my favorite story in this fairytale collection so far. I still have David's Dragon and I know that is going to rip out my heart but this one just did it for me in all the right places.
David’s Dragon Even though I knew T.J. Klune was going to rip my heart out with the story of David's Dragon I didn't expect THAT!! Jeez, his stuff should come with a warning label like, will cry profusely at work might need tissues and emotional support vodka. In all seriousness though, this was my favorite story of the entire collection. It filled in some questions you might have had with the previous books in the Tales from Verania series, but it was also just a powerful story. We are lucky in this life to love someone half as much as David loved his dragon and I just adored everything about their story even the heartbreak.
Gah, now that I have fallen in love with all these characters all over again as well as some new ones it is time for me to get to Justin's happily ever after. The man he falls for has got to be a saint to put up with all that sass crazy. I can't wait to see who it is!!
