Get ready for the final installment of the Faerie Files Trilogy!
I can't believe Logan's been my partner for over a year. Actually, he's been more than that for half as long. I know he'll always have my back.
But when a routine monster eviction goes horribly wrong, he's furious that I didn't run when I had the chance. What's his deal? The way I see it, the FBI didn't hire me to run away.
They hired me to get the job done.
Plus, I'm not the type to run from anything. I did it once when I was a kid and I've regretted it to this very day. I suppose that explains why I'm taking this latest case so personally.
Funny how some things come around full circle...especially when you least expect it.
The Faerie Files is purrr-fect for readers who enjoy enemies to lovers, friends to lovers, or forbidden romance. And cats. If you're not a cat person, you WILL be after reading this series! Ideal for fans of Annette Marie, McKenzie Hunter, Deborah Wilde, Helen Harper, and Shannon Mayer.

This is an entertaining paranormal urban fantasy series. If uncasted characters and an entertaining storyline. Especially unit in the FBI called the occult crimes division. We’re two of the top agents are actually from the very world. One is descended from elves the other is a fairy princess whose parents were killed when she was young and she ran away to the human world. Basically this is X-Files on steroids and this unit deals with every occult/paranormal crime and investigation out there. They get them all and it is a very entertaining and intense series. A little risky at times but not too much. Read on and be entertained. It’s a great trilogy.
This was a good ending to the series. I really enjoyed these characters, and while I would have loved to see them work on more cases together I was still happy with how it ended. It was very entertaining and I would say worth a read.
Wow! What an adventure. Elena and Logan are made for each other. This book puts an end to so many issues in their lives as well as new beginnings. There is action, betrayal, bravery and love. I will miss this series and I Loved It! I received an ARC from the Author and I am Leaving this TOTALLY HONEST REVIEW because I think that this is an AMAZING and Original Story!
I was very excited when I opened my email and saw the ARC for Hexes & Hairballs. I have read the first two books in the series and couldn’t wait for book 3. So, yes, I fangirled out a little bit. I believe there was dancing around the living room and some booty shaking before I sat back down to download it. Unfortunately, though, life got in the way, and I couldn’t read Hexes & Hairballs right away. It got pushed to the back burner while I did Mom things and collapsed in an exhausted puddle at night. Then my schedule cleared, and I was finally able to sit down and read this book. And let me tell you, it was definitely worth the wait.
Hexes & Hairballs is a fast-paced book. The author starts fast and doesn’t let up the pace for the entire book. There was no lag which is always a plus, and the flow of the book was fantastic!!
Hexes & Hairballs is told from Logan and Elena’s POV. It is also written in the first person. I had no issues with telling whose POV I was reading. The author put either Elena’s or Logan’s names at the beginning of the chapter.
The plotline for Hexes & Hairballs was simple. After defeating a supernatural entity under New York City (and yes, the author got everything right, including the rats), Elena, Logan, and the rest of their team head back home. But they don’t get to rest. Instead, they are sent to England to investigate why a child reappeared after 40 years and hasn’t aged. What they find over in England is something that they weren’t expecting. Also, there is an old enemy who is waiting in the shadows to strike. Will Logan and Elena make it through? Will they have their happily ever after?
Elena was her typical bundle of fire during this book. She took charge of the situations and did her best to resolve them. I disagreed with what she did when she was in the hospital with the boy. It should have been left to the professionals. But in the end, it did work in her favor. I did feel bad for her during the last few scenes of the book. What was revealed was a huge shock. I put my Kindle down and said, “No, effing way.”
I liked Logan in Hexes & Hairballs. Like in the previous books, he tended to get himself into situations that were a little dicey. I can’t go into what was dicey in this book, but he bore the brunt of everything.
Logan and Elena had insane chemistry in Hexes & Hairballs. That chemistry didn’t fade during the book. Instead, the author was able to build it back up after they were doing the nasty.
What surprised me the most about Hexes & Hairballs was the depth of the secondary characters. I felt that I got to know Solana a lot better and, in turn, understood why she was the way she was. I pitied her. The same with Sluagh. He showed a more human side when he was telling Solana’s story, and I got the feeling he disagreed with the kidnapping of human children.
The paranormal angle of the book was well written. The author took the stories of changelings and Fae abductions and made them her own. What I enjoyed the most about it was portrayed in a way that made it feel realistic. The emotions that the little boy went through came off the pages. I was in tears when he asked for his “mum” and when Elena told him what had happened.
The end of Hexes & Hairballs was well written and action-packed. But I did get the impression that maybe this wasn’t the last book in the series. I hope that it is the case because I would love to see what Elena and Logan do next!! How the author wrote the ending made me wonder that.
I'm apparently one of the minority that just thought this was an OK series 😅 *some spoilers ahead*
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed reading it, I just don't think it was great? There were a lot of things that missed the mark for me:
1. Given the scale of the threat posed by Solana and how she's been made out in the last 2 books to be the Ultimate Bad, her motivations were lackluster and all the power she supposedly gained over the years never seemed to make an appearance. And how she ultimately died made me actually laugh out loud because it was such a dumb way to die 🙈
2. Elena is a fae princess forced to run away from the fae world as a child after her parents were murdered. She says multiple times she can't go back to the fae Realm because she's hunted, will get killed on sight, etc. This is SUCH a good premise for a fantasy novel! All the character development and stories lost from the fact that this was NEVER used apart from to be a plot device to stop her from going into the fae world to rescue all the kids and her love Logan.
3. Logan was the best character imo. He had actual character development and was a genuinely nice dude. After you find out about his true heritage, you could expect things to heat up, or for him to maybe discover fae abilities, but nope, it doesn't really get used to its full potential like, at all, not even the fact that he's stronger than the average human.
4. The most anti-climatic ending ever 🙈
5. The romance was sweet, but if that's what you want to read this urban-fantasy "romance" for, I think you'd be disappointed. The character's internal monologue language is spicier than how the actions of the romance actually play out. I don't think the sexual tension or the physical moments were written very well, they kind of just happened, and that was it? No build up, no development afterwards. But you could tell they cared about each other.
6. Why why why, do when Elena and Logan finally go into the fae Realm and they meet Logan's parents / Elena's family's friends, she abdicated the crown, you know, big things, WHY does it only get a 2 paragraph summary of those events in the EPILOGUE!? That would have been SO GOOD! It would have been amazing to see Logan and Niklas come to terms with their situation, but Niklas doesn't even get mentioned again after the initial surprise meeting.
Those are the main things that reduced my rating of this series as a whole. But, if you want a quick, easy read, a HEA, no high stakes, dip-your-feet into fae/paranormal world type of story, and you don't really care about world building or history or character backgrounds and won't be likely to get invested in them, then this is probably right up your street 👍
SSA Logan Hawthorne and SA Elena Rivera, both members of the FBI’s Occult Division, are sent to England to investigate a case that might share vital similarities with the first case they worked as partners: a series of missing children. The two new additions to their squad, former administrative bean-counters, now eager magic-believing field agents, go along too. (Lafayette, talking kitty wonder, also crosses the Atlantic.)
In this, the third and final book in the Faerie Files trilogy by Emigh Cannaday, the case the OCD is sent overseas to solve is tangled in the complicated web of Logan’s birthright and Elena’s royal past. The evil magic responsible for the stolen children seethes with familiar energy. To complicate matters further, a little boy who disappeared on the moors outside Manchester at age nine in 1979 has popped up unharmed but confused after more that forty years missing. Logan and Elena will have to dig deep to find out where this child belongs in a world so different from the one he knew, as well as unravel their own individual pasts so that all of the parties involved come through this investigation intact—if not unscathed.
I liked this final novel in the series very much. If my praise seems less fervent and glowing than in my reviews for books 1 and 2, it’s just that I’d have loved for the author to have spun the series into more novels; the material is certainly there. The wrap up in the final pages gives readers the impression that Logan and Elena will have many more adventures together, and that their relationship will deepen and grow as time moves forward. Even Lafayette, the talking cat Logan adopted from Sylvia, is given a happily-ever-after scenario.
Cannaday gift-wraps her story for us, making sure the corners are neat and tidy and the bow is on straight. I just can’t help feeling that the series was not ready to end, that these characters had more to say and do, more adventures to explores and cases to solve. The fault—if there is one—perhaps then lies with me rather than the author. The writing is witty, clever, and engaging. The action is exciting and evocative. It’s a matter of mourning a luscious, tasty dessert when the last mouthful has been devoured. I think Elena would empathize with me!
I must say that Hexes and Hairballs is another great read by Emigh Cannady!! This time Elena and Logan are sent to Great Britain to solve multiple cases of missing children. The children all seem to go missing on the Moors outside of Manchester.
This particular story not only includes Logan and Elena, but also includes the two newest members of their team (who were originally from the accounting department), Carl and Katrina, as well as Logan’s cat, Lafayette. Elena’s irreverent behavior and snark, provide both further entertainment and greater depth for her pink haired, sugar eating character. Logan is what you would expect of a legacy FBI member, blue suited and proper, but constantly being pulled into situations by Elena.
I must admit that I thoroughly enjoy Lafayette’s commentary and opinions. Emigh has clearly been around her share of cats as the attitude this cat has is absolutely spot on! His opinions are exactly the sort of thing that any cat owner could see their cat saying!! Lafayette really adds another dimension to an already fun story.
I will not give a plot synopsis as this has the chance to ruin it for any would be readers. Suffice it to say, that Hexes and Hairballs is a well written fantasy story with enough mystery in the plot to keep you turning the pages and plenty of character depth to provide a greater dimension to her storytelling.
I highly recommend Hexes and Hairballs and when you have finished that, I recommend you check out some of Emigh’s many other wonderful stories!!
Again, it felt more convoluted and confusing than necessary. There were some twists that just didn’t make sense. Some things that I guess I still felt weren’t answered. And then the romance was a little lacking.
I feel like this COULD HAVE BEEN really great. It was just a little too bulky and heavy-handed. Oh! And the amount of swearing? It was over the top. Too much. Every single person dropped the f-bombs. Even the 9 year old kid. It made it hard to feel like these were separate characters. They all felt the same.
Sometimes, even Elena and Logan’s opinions on things got confusing when we went from one POV to the next. Example: Early on, Logan doesn’t like Miller, but likes Luna. Then next chapter Elena doesn’t like or trust Luna and says so. Then the next chapter, Logan doesn’t trust Luna. It’s almost like the author forgot whose POV she was in. Or, honestly, had a hard time giving them distinct personalities and characteristics.
Anyway, I guess what I’m saying is: I liked a lot of things enough that I hope this author can fix and tweak and fine tune the areas where she struggles. Because she could produce some amazing books if she did so.
The final to Logan and Elena’s story… you need to have read the first two books in the series first, mostly for context and back story!
When Elena and Logan, plus their two new sidekicks, are called to England to investigate a mysterious case involving children and possible Fae abduction, they know it seems eerily familiar, and they both have unfinished business in the Fae realms…
An enjoyable end to the trilogy, this urban fantasy has romance, magic, and a battle between good and evil. The overarching storylines begun in the previous books are completed, many questions are answered and all is well that ends well. What began as a duelling duo, ends up with a happy ending, and if the reader hopes for more adventures, the ending definitely doesn’t rule that out!
This was an entertaining and quirky urban fantasy series, which I enjoyed very much. Recommended for those who love urban fantasy.
I had already written a review when my almost new laptop broke. I lost my 4 latest book reviews and re writes are never as good but I will do my best. I actually re read this story and 2 other ones from 2 other authors because I hate to let any writer down when they work so hard to give of their best. This is the 3rd part of the series and it contained a lot of detail. It was a very busy story and a lot was found out. There were quite a few mood changes and revelations and difficult situations. IT IS EXCITING AND SCARY but there is not much happiness except towards the end. Overall it is a really good adventure with memorable lead characters who are very endearing. The villains as they should be, are quite horrible! 5 stars from me.
Well…the plot issues are still there, but I am so in love with the cast of characters that I couldn’t put it down even if the reasoning was sketchy as heck and there were plot holes big enough to drive a tank through. Even knowing that, I am still satisfied with the story and kinda wish there were more books.
Then again, the inconsistencies might end up causing a massive dumpster fire in the plot down the line so maybe the author was wise to make this a trilogy.
And if seems I am giving faint praise, please keep in mind I devoured the trilogy in five days, and it only took that long because I was savoring the last book because I didn’t want it to end.
I received this ARC for an honest review. if i could give 10 stars i would. I have almost everything Emigh Cannaday has written (except Jerk Bait) and i have LOVED every single book & series and this one was just as enthralling.
Logan and Elena travel to a foreign country to solve a case, only to be dooped by someone they thought was on their side. Fears are conquered, feelings are realised and i definitely think there can be more to this series and it doesn't have to end there. 😁🙏
Thank You Emigh for such an awesome series, you have kept me very entertained 😁
This review covers all three books. Do end is an FBI agent investigating magical crimes. She is forced to take on a colleague who initially is supposed to be human but is actually a changling . Together they form an alliance and fall in love whilst fighting against the evil Queen Solone. The books build very nicely through the saga to a satisfactory ending. I found the books a very good read and recommend them to you. They are a little different from the other books about fae and magical creatures and are all the better for it.
Wow! I couldn’t put it down. Emigh Cannaday has wrapped up this series beautifully. I’ll miss Elena and Logan and their supernatural antics. I love how I can visualise what’s happening in the book. Yes it’s that well written! Do yourself a favour and get this series. It’s entrancing, magical and scary with the right amount of romance thrown in. I received a copy of this book to read in advance of the release date and provide this review with great pleasure. It’s a brilliant read.
This book took me ages to get through, had some big life stuff going on which meant picking up a book to read wasn’t high on my list. For that I think I didn’t enjoy it as much as I usually would. So I’m still giving it 4 stars. It was a nice end to the trilogy. Miller was predictable. Solana was a surprise!
The ending was anti climatic. It was only in just a couple sentences.
Overall this is a fun, fae filled fantasy with talking cats. So how could I not enjoy it?
I loved it! This one is totally awesome. I'm sad that the series has ended. Hopefully sometime in the future the author might decide to add some extra books with new adventures. The only thing I can even say I'm disappointed with is Logan never showed any actual powers. That would've been cool. Especially when Elena was in so much danger. Anyways a great series. I highly recommend it.
This is the third book in the series. Although you could definitely enjoy it as a standalone, why miss all fun and adventure in the first two books? The two main characters have great chemistry and this book moves their relationship forward. I love that Elena who is a spunky fae with natural pink hair!! And she has to eat ridiculous amounts of sweet treats instead of normal food as her natural diet.
A great ending for a great series. Elena, Logan, and their new partners, head off to England at the request of MI666 the occult section of their MI office, to find why children are going missing. This third and last book in the series ties up some questions about Elena's family, and Logan's. Plus where their relationship is going. Very nice ending book for the series. Just Wish the series were longer .
What a great book. I love the characters of Elena and Logan. There is not stop action and mystery. It was an exciting read. It was sad to see that this is the final book in this series, but the way that Emigh wraps it up is fantastic. I received a complimentary copy of this book and all opinions are my own.
Brilliant 3rd book. We now find ourselves in Manchester as our FBI team are assisting in the case of a missing boy, I loved the interaction with the Police it's so funny in a dark and twisted story. I'd like to read more about the Hollows and look forward to maybe a 4th book or a spin off Happy Reading.
An action packed paranormal trilogy! This is the 3rd book of 3, and I do recommend reading them in order, as the storyline and characters build from one book to the next, although each book has at least one completed mystery within it (no cliffhangers). Contains smexy scenes, violence, and swearing (for those who like to know these things). Recommend.
I’ve been in love with Emigh for years, her stories are intriguing, well written, and throughly captivating. The 3rd I And final installment is awesome. Elena and Logan have their final showdown with Sluagh and Solana, and it was an emotional, yet satisfying ride.
Can’t wait for whatever Emigh comes out with next.
Hexes & Hairballs is a fun and intense conclusion to the trilogy. Each book Emigh writes the books get better. This is an enjoyable story that is just long enough to pass the afternoon. The story unravels Ellen and Logan's mysterious past while solving a decades old disappearance case of a missing boy.
Emery and Logan were amazing together in the third book in the faerie files. They go to England to research the reappearance of a child missing for over 49 years and find out more than that are being held in the Hollows. I loved their relationship and how they drew closer together after Logan was taken and held in the Hollows.
Book 3 is a great way to end a series. More danger, magic, malevolence, and love in this book than the other 2, although they were good. And the introduction of one very confused, but gutsy, little boy. Sylvia also travels to England. Add in some humor, fear and sadness and you have one great finale. Highly recommend.
Really wish the HEA would have waited. Adore Elena and Logan but u feel like there was a missing chunk in the story. Here give a kingdom to strangers who are really your boyfriend's bio parents that he doesn't know or interact with? Where's his dad abs the neighbor lady? What about Sylvia and her lizard vet? So many questions that aren't answered..
Series was not so descriptive in the x rated factor, nor in the evil factor that people can go practice what they read. Writing was great, although in the entire series, I had figured out who the bad guy was by chapter 4 or 5. But the storyline kept me immersed, and I blazed through the first 2 books in 2 days.
What can I say? A stunning book 3! Absolutely wonderful and well written. We get Logan and Elana and find out a lot of goodies along the way. I dearly hope that there will be more books in this series, but if not, you won't be disappointed with the ending.
Elena and Logan are on another adventure. Sewage. Sludge. A violent entity. A sacred stone. A monster destroyed. Elena injured. Another case. MI666. A man with green eyes. A child reappears. An old Roman road. A witch tree. A talking cat. An old friend. McDonalds. A very highly recommended series.
