Broken Asylum Duet #2

Boucher House: Book 2

Rate this book
With Dr. Boucher away things are finally looking up.

The majority of the staff still despise us, but without his torturous ways I can finally breathe for the first time since I came here.

With new arrivals and unexpected allies, I’m about to discover just how deep the darkness goes in this place.

I've always been a firm believer that nothing good ever lasts in this place, hopefully that doesn't extend to my new relationships that bloomed in this very place of evil.

This is a why choose romance, where the fmc will have more than one love interest without having to choose. This is a dark, forced proximity romance. It touches on sensitive matters and scenes that may trigger some people.

B.C. Morgan lives in England with her amazing fella, their twin devils (also called kids), and their pets. She’s a lover of all things creative from baking to drawing, if it’s creative she’ll give it a go. For someone who claims to not like people, she somehow always manages to surround herself with friends and family.

While B.C. loves bringing life to all the voices in her head, who demands she tells the world their story, she sometimes wishes they were less homicidal. But alas, what’s a poor author to do when death and destruction is being demanded?! To be fair it isn’t really surprising B.C.’s characters are acting like that, considering she has a list with everyone who’s wronged her. It started with the tooth fairy who didn’t pay for her teeth.

God this duet did my head in, but in a good way!! I loved all these characters and I just wanted to wrap them all up in cotton wool and yell enough!! This series is brutal, it's raw, twisted, dark, and so unsettling these books will forever have a place in my heart, I am so glad I took a leap of faith on a new to me author and read these because they fast became my top reads of 2021!!
So unique, gut-wrenching but so rewarding, you come away happy with how the author wrapped it all up. Definitely a must read duet!! Highly recommend!!

This is the conclusion to the Broken Asylum Duet. I could not wait to read this as I needed to know what happens to Presley, Baxter, Kai and Mark. The patients of Boucher House or as they like to call it an asylum start to find themselves when Dr Boucher is away and they start to get placebo's as replacements for the medication that Dr Boucher prescribed, and as we all know most of these patients had their diagnosis changed once coming here.

I enjoyed this story immensly, yes there were some dark evil parts but there was also parts where you couldn't help but enjoy watching the growth of these characters.

This is a dark slow burn romance but due to the story being so captivating you do not even notice. Bee has once again written a duet that will reel you in from the start.

Boucher House part two is a beautifully written, intriguing conclusion filled with mystery, suspenseful moments and the most fulfilling character development.

Told in alternating POV, we experience the most amazing journey alongside these characters, especially Presley, whose bravery, strength and selflessness knows no bounds. Boucher House part two does give us a few steamy scenes, but it’s fairly light on the romance, with more story and plot. Surprisingly, I didn’t find myself missing out given how captivating the writing and story is. I always enjoy when authors take a chance on writing different types of books, and you can’t get more unique than a love story taking place in an asylum!

If you enjoy unique stories with mystery, suspense, and memorable characters, you will love this duet.

This is part two in the Boucher House duet. This takes place right where it was left off in book one.

This was dark and all out raw. The emotions these characters go through are stronger in this book. You are definitely taken for a ride on the journey to see how this story ends. Not only does the big mystery get solved but along the way are more items that you question. It is definitely a book that keeps you guessing. I love Presley’s character. She is so bound and determined not to break. She embraces her own self and believes in her “craziness”. My heart belongs with Baxter, he is truly a character that I never saw coming. He has so much to offer and in Boucher House he is restricted from that. I adore Kai and Mael and how much they care about helping the patients. It goes to show, not everyone is out to get you.

This truly was a great conclusion to this story. There was a lot of important messages shown through and the author did a great job and delivering the importance of mental health. I really think this is a great book for others to read!!

This was a pretty good close to the duet but I do think the first one was better. The ending of book one left some major questions hanging over everything, however I think the unknown was more exciting than what ended up happening. The end is satisfactory and I like how they are all able to be free and do as they please finally, free from all the falsified mental problems and torture. I think it's interesting how they all found a way to be together even though they are all (Baxter) still not 100% on board with having to share :P

What a ride. This book just hooked you right into the story and the ending was so satisfying, even though I do want a little bit more.

I loved going on this journey with these characters and watching how they (and their relationships) progressed and evolved. From beginning to the end you saw not only the main characters but also side characters change. You became invested in all of their stories, what they had all gone through. What I like is that this book didn’t just focus on the main characters, many side characters were brought up and you learned a little bit of their stories too.

This is a dark romance but it wasn’t focused solely on the romantic relationships, it also focused on relationships the characters had with others and themselves. This takes place in an asylum, but it does focus on the struggles of mental health.

I feel like I was on the edge of my seat for a lot of this book. There was the over arching mysterious plot but there are also little interactions and smaller stories with different characters so something is always happening. However, these little somethings all came together at some point. As the book progressed different things were revealed and questions were answered. As the conclusion grew closer all of the loose ends were tied up and it was such a satisfying ending. It’s exactly what this duet needed. Although I wouldn’t complain if there was a spinoff with side characters or even more about the history of the Boucher House.

Phenomenal Conclusion!

What a twisted, exciting and thrilling conclusion to this amazing story!

This was definitely a story that will keep you on the edge of your seat with anticipation of what is going to happen next. It’s an intense emotional ride that will keep you fully captivated right to the end.

Presley is crazy as ever, but she has some very intelligent sane moments that will have you laughing out loud and cheering her on. She doesn’t want to break and fully surrenders to her crazy self. Her journey (along with the patients at Boucher House) is filled with drama, suspense, twists and turns and a whole lot of craziness.

This is a brilliantly written, captivating, mysterious and insanely intriguing story with wonderful complex characters that will grab your attention and keep you fully engaged.

Once again, B.C. Morgan has left me speechless. This duet is a literary masterpiece, I'm not kidding. If you know me, you know I am a sucker for romance novels and I need a whole lot of romance in a book, otherwise I won't read it or I will give it a lot rating. Not the case with this. It's a psychological thriller and all kinds of messed up, but it's a five stars from me and one of my top reads for this year.

No no, you don't understand when I say I am obsessed with this duet and these characters. I probably shouldn't be, though. They're twisted and broken and wrong but I absolutely love them.

It was such a satisfying conclusion to so much heart-break and pain. None of them should have had to go through any of it—not Caleb or Carla, nor Baxter or Presley—but I'm glad that they finally have their own version of a happy ending. Maël and Kai, too.

I love reverse-harem and I'm glad that Presley has all her guys, but if I had to be honest, I still have a huge soft spot for Bax and he's the only one that deserves her. I'm biased and unfair to the other two, but I can't help it.

I binged this in a day because I couldn't stop. When I saw that I had two chapters left until the inevitable end, I wanted to fling my phone across the wall just so I could prolong the end, haha. Presley would approve of that, no doubt.

And excuse me, the smut here. We didn't have any of that in book one and I did not expect it at all. It was so hard to even enjoy it because I was worried about them getting caught. 😭 The relief I truly felt in the epilogue when they were alone and happy, you have no idea.

Phenomenal book, highly recommend but it is a really dark book and I don't mean just issues like depression, it's the whole shebang. It's gruesome in many ways, there's a lot of devastating torture that takes place that made my heart hurt for my babies.

A beautifully twisted story, with a truly thrilling end.

I loved the Broken Asylum duet! I don't think that properly describes how I feel about it, but sometimes the story just leaves you speechless and stuck in your mind with no words to properly describe it. That is Presley's story for me. I loved every twisted, stabby, crazy moment of the rollercoaster ride.

"He sweeps me off my feet, literally. It's ridiculous. Who needs or wants chivalry? I'd rather have a beast than a hero - at least we'd have more fun."

After the end of Part 1, I was a little skeptical about how it would end, primarily because it was just so good. Bee, you have done it again! This conclusion was more heart racing, chills given, emotionally confusing kind of story that was perfect. Following the first book, it is Multi POV, however book 2 seemed to have way more male perspective, which I was here for! Maël, Kai, and Baxter are each such different characters that I was drawn to each of them. I loved the dynamic!

I was blown away by this crazy pants ride, with Presley and her snarky, if somewhat homicidal tendencies, and the adrenaline that kept me hanging on every word.

"No, I'm too f*cked for perfect. It's overrated anyway, so let's be crazy in an imperfect world. That sounds like my kind of heaven."

"Being crazy isn’t something to be ashamed of, and I wear mine like a badge of honor"- Presley

I was so nervous to read this book! The ending of Part One had me on the edge of my seat and I just knew Part Two was going to up the what the f*ck factor 10 fold. And it did not disappoint.

The inner workings of the asylum are as dark as ever. We learn alot more about the staff and who can be trusted. Mael and Kai are trying to change things, but once Boucher is back, we can only hope nothing happens to the characters we've grown to care so much about.

Speaking of caring, the slow burn that had been building between Presley and her guys Baxter, Mael and Kai finally comes to a roaring inferno. They're all broken in different ways and none of them will ever be normal, but together they make sense of the life they've been given.

At one point I had to stop reading because I was so scared to turn the page. This duet will draw you in and keep you guessing as to what is actually going on. High trigger warnings so be prepared.

Boucher House: part 2 is just as beautifully done as the first. There are so many twist and turns, secrets to uncover, some passion, and a thrilling conclusion to end it all.

As the the story unfolds, we see how dark Boucher House really is. The multiple POVs help move the story along and create a thrilling sense of suspense.

Presley develops friendships whether she wants to or not. She is so much more than what we saw in the first book. Despite where she is, she has a strong sense to help those who can’t help themselves. I absolutely loved her. Her men are equally broken, but together they’re whole. Baxter is my favorite and I wish we had more time with him.

The Boucher House duet is absolutely phenomenal and if you can move past the triggers you really won’t regret it. I’m so glad I decided to give this story a try, 5 stars all the way.

This is the epic continuation and conclusion to the Broken Asylum duet. I've been so hooked in this series for a while now. We continue on Presley's journey in this broken institution. There were huge character development and growth, while still maintaining their personalities. There were twist and turns that I didn't see coming. Not gonna lie, you definitely got me in the first half.

"how can you be alive when there is nothing left of you? When you’ve been stripped away and all that is left is a husk , a broken shell, a body with no more life left to give".

Did anybody else cry at this part? OMFG! This was seriously deep.

Definitely, a must read!!

A crazy read.

Wow, what a journey this one has been. I must admit it had my interest from the beginning. I felt it dragged on a bit too long in the middle and the second book and wrapped up quite quickly. Some hard to believe moments, but it is an asylum after all. I really did not know where all the main characters would end up and it was an interesting ending. Well worth reading for something a little different.

Boucher House book 2 is the finale of the Broken Asylum Duet and so much was crammed into it to give it a fitting ending. Oh boy does Presley (FMC) go through it all in this book. Still with all her own brand of humour, snark and sassiness. Only things get way darker for her, Baxter, Mael and Kai. They all have to go through some difficult times (some were hard to read) before getting the ending id hoped for. Loose ends were tied up nicely and payback were brilliant. It was a cracking series and the ending was knockout. Loved it

So intense and dark....i just loved how this story progressed, and how it came to conclusion. The plot was just pure genius, with everything you could want from a dark romance!

What i loved the most though was the journey you see these characters go on, from where they started at the beginning of book one, to where it all ends in this finally! Not just the MCs either, every character had their small part to play in the overall plot...it was just brilliant!
Presley is one hell of a fighter, shes stubborn, intelligent, sassy, funny and yeah shes very broken and vulnerable as well, she has to be one of the best female characters I've ever read! I loved seeing her character develop and grow, especially around her guys, Baxter, Kai and Mael. Lets just say i whooped the air when their intense sexual chemistry bubbled over and we finally got some very hot and steamy sex scenes!

As you would expect though with the story set in an Asylum, it was far from the usual hearts and flowers in most romance books! This was dark, depraved and evil at times with a plot that will keep you right on the edge and keep you guessing right to the end!

If you love your romance, with wonderfully broken and damaged characters, a romance which has a dark, depraved and twisted plot then this a must read for you!

Holy goodness. Bee’s done it again. At first I wondered how this story would continue and end. I worried for Presley’s sanity, and the feelings that she wrestled with. Feelings of helplessness, of not being able to protect others, of apathy of what may happen to her.

This is a dark romance slow burn duet. I cried and I panicked as I read this book. I cheered during the hot hot sex once it happened, but I worried about what would happen at the end. Living for the light was discouraged as Boucher was determined to extinguish it.

Everything that happens in that hospital was orchestrated or being watched by an evil man…so how do you escape that unless you play the game against him?

I love everything that Bee writes, but she managed to surprise me with this ending. I loved this duet, and feel like if you enjoy dark romance and are ok around the triggers of : sexual past trauma, abuse of staff on those that they are taking care of, mental health…this story needed to be told exactly as it was. So good.

Boucher House part two is just as intriguing as the first. BC really does a great job finishing up the conclusion. But she is an wonderful author so I was expecting it to be good, and she delivered.

What I like about it is this is the story not just a romance story. Yeah there is some romance, but the meat of the story is the plot. I enjoy that very much.

Second that I liked was the different POV we get. I so enjoy reading what the other characters are thinking.

Also the characters were all memorable and fun to read. So overall this Duet was another smash hit for BC and I cannot wait to see what we get next.

While this book was still interesting, I didn’t like it as much as the first. There were things two of the guys did that I did not like, a lot of side questions were left unanswered, and some information mentioned but just not shared on page. Also, it was confusing to keep up with who knew what about each other. Sometimes information was said in front of one of the guys that I know they had not previously known but they didn’t comment on, even though it was information that they would have.

"If the staff here are classed as sane, then does that word even hold the same meaning as it once did?"

This was such an epic ending to the Broken Asylum duet. There was so much craziness, both literally and figuratively. Asylum books are always so intense and vary from author to author, but I love the way Morgan executed this theme. I really enjoyed the twist on the workers being the baddies, there to only cause harm, manipulate them, and make them worse off, instead of healing them and trying to help them get well enough to reenter society.

This duet is a slow burn with the main focus being on the storyline. However, with that being said, you still get loads of character development, humor, emotional moments as well as occasional steamy scenes, and tons of witty banter to add onto the main plot that is driving the story. It was nice to see how the characters slowly changed since the first book. Presley was pretty much a recluse, only speaking to Baxter. Maël involved himself in only emotionless encounters. Kai was strictly interested in a one on one relationship and was fighting his attraction to Presley, and Baxter was head over heels in love with Presley but was afraid of rejection. A lot has changed since then with the characters opening up to their feelings and acknowledging that they want more. It took them a while, but they eventually got there.

The ending of this book came as such a surprise to me. The group were constantly talking about a plan that they put into action and that it would take them time for it to fully be ready, but no details were given. The suspense and mystery really had me hooked, waiting to see what all they were planning on doing to stop Boucher, save the other patients, and get their revenge. Despite everything that Presley and Baxter were forced to endure throughout their imprisonment at the asylum, the torture, the abuse, and being drugged, despite Maël having to follow his father's rulings and do things he despised, despite Kai having to talk to patients day after day knowing that they were suffering and there was nothing he could do about it, this group was incredible together, doing their own part to make the plan a success. It was amazing to see how they could come out of this situation more driven and determined even as every bad thing drugged them down.

After everything was said and done, they were able to get a happy ending. Not a perfect ending, mind you. This group will always have their issues and disagreements, but after everything they've been through, is perfect really necessary to be happy as long as they have each other?

This is the second book in the Broken Asylum duet and you must have read Part One before you read this one. First things first, trigger warnings all over the place. This is a dark romance with some very sensitive subjects being addressed. If you have any concerns, reach out to me or anyone else who has read the book before you jump in.

Part two picks up right where we left off in Part One. I have to say, I thought I knew what was going on but I was wrong. Which I absolutely love b/c that means the author has done a great job of keeping me guessing. Without giving too much away, b/c you must experience this book as you go, let's talk a little about what's happening. Mael is in charge while bad Boucher is away on business. Since his discovery of certain things, he's making some changes and things are starting to look up. Nothing good can last forever though as bad Boucher does make his return to the house. He brings some very harsh new treatments with him. Can this misfit group stay together and out of trouble long enough to take down bad Boucher? That is the question isn't it?

This second book was full of just as many stressful, surprising, twisting and turning events as the first one. Even more b/c we had to have a very suspenseful ending. B.C. delivered on that. She took us on a journey that was hard at times but was so fulfilling in the end. And Presley, I absolutely love Presley. She's so snarky and funny at times. To see her grow as a character just warms your heart. Ugh I could probably go on about this for a minute but it's so hard to not give away anything. So I'll just say that if you like a book that will take you on a darker adventure and keep you guessing the whole time, you wanna jump on this right now.

Evil Lurks in Boucher House. But! Are the Insane Patients or Staff?

Occasionally, you are lucky enough to stumble upon a books with characters, and a storyline that utterly consumes you.

This duet of stories about the people and patients of ‘Boucher House’ is such a story.

B.C. Morgan has managed to create characters: - Presley, Baxter, Kai, and Maël - with so much heart, and pain, and anguish, you can’t help but be pulled into their lives in the nightmare that is Boucher House.
We witness their suffering at the hands of the demented Dr François Boucher, and his complicit member of staff.
The equally despicable Matteson, the delusional Nurse Gretchen to name a few.

Even ex patients now orderlies, Ashley Parker, and Adam Decker have been conditioned to not show any emotion as they stand aside, and witness patients suffering at the hands of Dr. Boucher.

But, it is Bouchers particular fascination with Presley, and his increasing, and unrelenting brutal treatment of her, that has the most major effect on staff and patients alike.

In particular the compassionate Dr. Kai Miller, who’s own loneliness and guilt has him being draw to the ‘scary, wild, crazy’ Presley.
And
Maël Boucher, the son and heir to his fathers asylum and business, who has his own demons.
A man who live his life having one night stands, never believing in things such as love until he see’s Presley, then falls in love with her mind.

Can they all survive the demented plans that Dr.Boucher has setting in motion to destroy Presley, and any other patient who dares to cross him, before they end up in the bad room that takes away their light

This book was just an emotional read, and I gotta admit there was a few moments there where I was absolutely devastated.
However, B C Morgan came through with a satisfying ending.

Only problem I had with the story was the RH element.
Only because that not my thing.
But that said…she was good enough not to let this get in the way of the overall storyline like some RH novels do.
For those that like it though she came through with the obvious threesome that this story ( and RH fans) was screaming for.
I was just glad Baxter was kept out of it as I truely believe Baxter and Presley’s relationship was special, and completely different from the ones she shared with Kai and Mael.

My tagline for this duet conclusion is: "Crazy asylum with steamy romance vibe, mystery, & revenge” - and I loved every minute of it. After finding out the evil that Boucher House is hiding within it's staff, Presley & the guys are more determined than ever to put a stop to it. It's a dark, slow burn romance with a unique RH twist: a patient with a deep, intense connection to another, a psychiatrist who genuinely wants to help patients, & a doctor who is heir to a legacy he never wanted. A plan is put into place to help the patients of Boucher House but we are definitely taken on a ride and kept guessing until the very end. The author does a great job on impressing the importance of mental health through the characters and journeys that they go through. The emotions in this one are darker, raw, and more intense than before but has an ending steeped in justified vengeance that I couldn't have loved more. There are quite a few steamy scenes, but this duet focuses more on the plot and does a beautiful justice to it with the alternating POV we are given.
.....
"Words are powerful things. But if your mind is already broken, how can they reach you?"
.....
"A story of betrayal, doublecross, and ultimate revenge."
.....
You'll love this duet if you love to stories with memorable moments & characters, mystery, suspense, and some mindfckery that will ultimately leave you satisfied.

Chef’s kiss times a thousand

I feel like I’d been waiting forever for this even if it was just a few months. This duo-logy reached out and gripped me deep in my soul and I quickly became obsessed with it. So many times when we talk about a strong fmc, it’s their physical strength that’s lauded. But truly, the real measure of one’s strength should be mental. Physical wounds can heal (for the most part), it’s the mental scars that can’t be seen that should hold the most praise. To suffer, to be tormented and tortured mentally and be able to still put one foot in front of the other, to be able to live and not only survive, but thrive, that is true strength. To speak about it, to reach out for help and try to heal yourself and others by sharing experiences, that’s bravery. So for each of our main characters to have been through so much and to find strength, solace, love and family within each other, is the most amazing cherry on top of the most incredible sundae ever created. So bravo BCM! Incredible read!

Havoc Insanity

Dr. Francois Boucher... Psychiatric hospital, asylum. A place where people are treated and some may get rehabilitated, but no one leaves. Out of sight, out of mind.

How much more can Presley take? What new treatments can he rain down on her and her friends?

D. Kai Miller, resident psychologist of Boucher's House. In love Presley and wants to truly help the patients.

Dr. Mark Boucher, set to take the reigns from his father upon retirement. Infatuated with Presley as well, wanting to use her to bring order and justice to the asylum.

Baxter, labeled as the worst patient in the hospital, a blood bath would be had if let loose... All to ensure Presley's safety, for the love he feels towards her and she towards him.

Puzzle pieces are being dropped everywhere but hardly any of them fit together. The steamy elements that make up a reverse harem also come out to play in this book. Along with all the ideas that run rampant through their minds on what Boucher Senior may be playing.

How far can they be pushed before it's too late?

It's an emotional rollercoaster. Rooting, hoping, wrecked for these characters. Author is able to pull me into this story and create havoc for them.

Stephannie's 5 Star Review:

This is the second book in the  Broken Asylum Duet. I was hooked after reading the first book and this one doesn't disappoint. I couldn't wait to find out what happens next because I wanted some sort of HEA for Presley, Baxter, Kai, and Mark. This is a dark and alarming book about the patients of  Boucher House and the crazy doctor who is treating them. But the question remains is he really treating them to make them better or using them as a science experiment?

I really enjoyed this book and the twists and turns to find a solution to Dr. Boucher's treatments. There is also a romance aspect to this story that has you wanting more for these characters. It is an amazing written story by BC Morgan who I love her books. This one is just as amazing is all the others I have read. One-click The Boucher House Duet today!

What a ride this duet has been! I'm so in love with the world and am not ready to say goodbye. The finale is heartbreaking but so worth it. The narration and build-up is overwhelmingly perfect. The characters have been through such a journey and I'm glad I got to be a part of it.

Pres is such a diverse and strong character. She was amazing in the first book but in this, we get to see her finally open herself up and give herself a chance to be loved. I'm so proud of her and her strength! Baxter is my second favorite in this duet. He's precious and is perfect for Pres. Kai and Mael are very well portrayed but my heart belongs to Pres and Bax. The book actually focuses more on the complexities and turmoils taking place in Boucher House rather than on romance and I LOVE that! There is romance, steam and love but it's so subtle; that gives the characters room to grow individually because each of them has been through so much. There's no hero saves heroine, it's hero helps the heroine save herself and the world around them. I'm here for that!

The question on her lips has everyone pausing, thinking and wondering.

Did Dr Boucher ever leave?

Oh wow what an amazing conclusion to this duet!

If you want to read about the inmates, oops patients of an asylum then this is the duet for you!

Its creepy, and crawling with unanswered questions. The patients appear crazy but so do the staff "helping" them.

Violence and outbursts are a daily occurrence whilst behind the scenes long lasting reletionships are being forged.

Calculated cruelty, and cold callous behaviour. What is the truth...

This book is exciting from start to finish. I fell in love with the unique characters in part one of the duet. This book stole my soul, with every mistreatment.

Its devastating, yet perfect at the same time.

I could read this duet a thousand times over and each time I would come to the same conclusion.

Boucher House: Part Two by BC Morgan is a dark asylum reverse harem romance. This is the second book in the Broken Asylum Duet.

The book does come with a note: "This is a why choose romance, where the fmc will have more than one love interest without having to choose. This is a dark, forced proximity romance. It touches on sensitive matters and scenes that may trigger some people."

This is the first series of BC Morgan's that I have read and it won't be my last. She did an amazing job wrapping up this series. I loved the relationship between Presley, Mael, Baxter, and Kai. I really enjoyed getting all of their points of view throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

I would recommend this book if you love dark romances, asylum romances, forced proximity romances, reverse harem romances, or psychological thrillers.
