Without Grr,—I didn’t name him, okay?—I’d have been a goner. And his furry abs? Just a bonus. (A nice one.)
First, giant alien lizard-guys abduct me. Then they leave me alone in a cell next to Grr. Then the force-field between us dies.
So now it’s just me and Grr. Sure, he’s beat up and pissed off with claws and fangs (I kind of like the fangs). And he growls a lot. Anyone would in our situation.
But hey, if you’re going to escape an alien prison ship and get chased across a planet where half the creatures you meet try to eat you, it’s good to have seven-feet of Grr at your side. He’s also easy on the eyes. Abs-on-abs, biceps-on-biceps, and let’s say all the right bulges in all the right places.
And he likes ear rubs. And other rubs. And rubbing me. (I like that too.)
The more time I spend with Grr, the more I think getting abducted by aliens wasn’t such a bad thing.
I just hope the lizard-guys don’t kill us before Grr can call in the big guns.
The ones that aren’t furry.
(Seriously, I’m not talking about the St. Bernard sized hamster. We just met him.)
Grr! is a full-length (and I mean full-length) alien warrior romance with pulse-pounding action, lots of humor, cute critters, and all the hotness.
If you like alien abduction romance with a twist, give Grr! a try. HEA guaranteed.
Greetings and salutations. I’m a lifelong sci-fi and fantasy fan. It’s generational, really, as my mom took me with her to sci-fi conventions when I was a kid. Some of my best memories are playing laser tag in the hotel hallways. Since writing my first (very) short story in grade school about three dragons fleeing by car from a nameless enemy, I’ve had characters and worlds clamoring for attention in my mind. Now I get to share them with readers like you, and I’m so excited!
When I’m not writing, you’ll find me playing with my cats, doing karaoke, and occasionally dressing up as Ziggy Stardust. If you want to get notified about future releases from me and get random snippets of what I’m working on (or sort of working on), check out my reader club on my website!
This was lighthearted and sweet, though plenty action packed. Grr and Zoe worked good together as they escaped captivity, crashed into another planet, fought giant spiders and spider babies from hell, all while still trying to stay one step ahead of the their pursuing ex-captors. Zoe made unexpected friends and definitely walked right into harrowing situations. To Grr, Zoe had more than showed she had a heart of a warrior and he would do everything in his power to get her to safety.
As they overcame everything the universe seemed to throw at them, they inextricably grew close and things got real steamy. Lots of rubbing, licking, and knotting! As Grr's affection grows he can't help but wanting to make Zoe his mate, but language barriers abound.
I really like this. It was fast paced, light-hearted, and sweet. Both Grr and Zoe were good considerate people who deserved a beautiful HEA.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - New Author Crush Unlocked: Zeta Star Delivers!
Adding Zeta Star to my fave list STAT! This book had everything: an escaped human, a sexy feline alien, and an adventure that had me glued to the page until I realized, "Oh hey, I finished it in one day." (Sleep? Who needs it when you have this level of sci-fi romance?)
Our heroine, Zoe, has serious spirit, and watching her navigate alien abduction with wit and grit was a blast. Then we’ve got G’rraylix—or as she hilariously nicknames him, “Grr.” (Yes, please, to this purring powerhouse of an alien!) Together, they break out of captivity, snag an escape pod, and land on a planet that’s full-on wild.
And let’s talk about Nibbles, the giant blue hamster Zoe picks up along the way. I didn’t think I needed a space rodent sidekick in my life, but here we are, and I’m in love. Between him, Grr, and the ever-present danger of both slavers and the local predators, this story keeps the stakes high and the pages turning fast.
If you’re looking for sci-fi action that’s equal parts swoon and sizzle with a healthy dose of “How on Earth are they getting out of this?!”, pick this up immediately. Zeta Star, I’ll be waiting impatiently for more—keep ’em coming!
Grr, well this book did not make me purr! It had little plot and so many unexplained issues. The author provided very to little to no back story. While reading I felt like the author assumed you could figure it out! Why?
Also the angst was barely there. The whole story took place over a few weeks to a month but not much was going on. Grr was described physically well enough by the author but I could not connect with him. I wish the author gave us some more background on his species and more info about him as a character. Zoe was easily accepting of her situation and had insta-love or even lust for Grr. I could not connect with her either.
I had to give the author 2 stars based on the fact that I enjoyed the alternating POV’s, no cliffhanger and no cheating. Also the author had little to no grammatical errors and had some good descriptions of the planet they were on.
I really wanted to like this story but just couldn’t. I loved the idea of a creature that is catlike but unfortunately the author did not make it work here.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I enjoyed most of this book but I took a star off because I felt like the ending was really rushed. After they were separated (trying to be vague to not give away the ending.) There was a lot that went on that would have benefited from a lot more detail. The spice while explicit was really only one scene. I really liked the story but the ending left me wanting more.
The cover and title gave me the impression this was going to be stupid, and yes it's stupid but in a good way. Story is cute and simple. Heroine is a dumbass with a heart of gold, but not overly obnoxious. Hero is your standard muscled well-hung humanoid alien. Not much drama, they get along and eventually figure things out
3.5 Look, it is literally called Grr! and I had to read read it. For science.
Writing is pretty palatable, plot moves quickly and is full of action. Heroine is on a dumb side but since I lack a point of reference (heh!) I cannot say I would be making great choices either. In an alien jungle. With a cat man. On the run from lizard guys.
This was a humor-filled adventure that was fun to read. Zoe is abducted by lizard-like creatures to be sold as a slave. Grr, is an alien who was investigating the aliens stealing females. He was captured and tortured. When something happens onboard the ship, Zoe and Grr escape.
The escape pod they are in then crashes on Shaiyann. With the typical humor in this story, we see Zoe consume fruit which intoxicates her to the point where she gets herself into quite a bit of trouble, keeping Grr busy trying to rescue her and keep her safe. She does not have a means to communicate with him, which adds further difficulty to their interaction and more humor as they figure it out. Are the two of them mates? And where did that giant blue hamster come from??
I'll be honest with you, this book is meant to be humorous and fun. It's not a heavy story, and it drops you right into the action.
However, I think the biggest issue with stories like these is that they tend to confuse stupidity with humor, and that sometimes works, but in this case, it kind of just left a weird aftertaste.
Zoe's actions were very questionable sometimes, and if I were emotionally invested in the story, they would have made me very mad. However, I did not care when it came to this story. It honestly wasn't even that whimsical. There's a happy ending, but that's kind of it. Everything else is what you would expect it to be. No twists or turns, just weird thoughts.
Not bad, but it didn’t rock my world. Ultimately for me sci fi romances have the highest chance of falling flat and being a dud. Just too many places where actual science disagrees with science Fiction . The author here did an admirable job of not botching a lot of common pitfalls I have in alien romances, but ultimately this was just a bit above “ok” or “ meh it’s fine”. The alien lead is pretty humanesk in looks so nothing too freaky here if that’s what you are looking for.
Would read this author again, but I’m not chomping at the bit to get to the next in the series.
A human woman gets kidnapped by lizard aliens who wish to sell her into slavery and ends up saved by an Alien prisoner companion. Alien man and Human woman have to survive on an unknown planet in search of help while their lizard captures try to hunt them down. Along the way, Alien man and Human woman have relations and eventually get saved/save themselves and live HEA as Mates. The End
This was a typical Alien romance troupe with no unique features and a fairly common and boring plotline. It was well structured and written though.
I found that really no imagination went into this at all, for instance, the Alien man Grr had POV chapters and his thoughts would come out entirely too human. Like when Grr thought about time references he would think in terms like seconds minutes, hours, and days. He also thought of a phrase that went something like 'I was as weak as a Kitten' which is definitely too human of a saying. Granted Grr had feline features like his ears striped fur and he purred but he referred to babies as babes and never referenced himself as feline but instead as a bipedal being so the phrase 'as weak as a kitten' didn't make sense coming out of his inner thought process.
Then the space ships, alien weapons, culture, and technology were all typical genre stuff that you've heard used in millions of other sci-fi fiction like the use of ray guns, there was nothing creative about the world the author built here.
I was scrolling my feed here in goodreads and read a review about this book. Yes the cover looks like my grandma did it using Photoshop but the review was good so hey why not ignore the cover and give it a try?
Meet Grr an alien who was a prisioner in the same cell with our protagonist. They both achieve to escape and are being followed by a bunch of lizard guys who want to capture them again.
They escape from the spaceship and land in an unknown planet and from here they try to get to a camp to finally be free from their persecutors.
This is a sci fi romance but with a touch of comedy . We get sarcastic jokes, good interactions between Grr and Zoe and the CUTEST PET EVAAAR NIBBLES !!! 😍😍🐹🐹
Grr is just so cute and adorable with her 🥰 and is troubled because he wants to mate this " alien female" but he just doesn't know how relationships work in earth, so he tries to figure out trough the book what Zoe's feelings are. To add more to the story, he doesn't understand English so the communication between them is funny .
Why 5 stars? Because it was just what I thought I will get . No more no less.
This follows Zoe and Grr. Zoe is a human from earth, and Grr is a catman type alien who is essentially a space marine. This book follows Zoe and Grr as they escape from their captors and crash on another planet. They hide and evade their captors through the forest of the planet while trying to get to a settlement on the planet. Zoe has a talent for getting in trouble. It's funny because she's just trying to be bad ass and independent, but it always goes wrong. And Grr likes that.
This story begins after Zoe's abduction and Grrs capture. You get a brief explanation of Zoe's abduction, but there's not one for Grr. He's just captured. I do think the story was lacking in a few explanations. Like, who is Grr and his people? What's his background? And a few other things. But it's still a cute story, and the story flows.
A new author for me – I will be paying attention to what comes next!
This had all the good features of sci-fi; and in addition, had a bit more depth, humor and complexity than I sometimes find in the sci-fi genre. Two prisoners; one human female, one quite alien and male. The alien is so big and dangerous that he is chained. A disruption on the captor’s ship allows them to work together to escape.
Is this “Out of the frying pan into the fire”? Language is an issue, so is attraction. We have a charming side character who actually ends up with a fairly important role.
This was a delightful read with pure entertainment. I highly recommend this one!
**I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book**
This was an engaging and well-written story. This book 1 in The Warriors of Gr’mlakin Book Series was intriguing with well-thought out scenes, characters and storyline. These characters have unique wills, intense personalities and believable interactions. This engaging story has the following: twists, turns, adventure, action, humor, love, steam and a HEA. It is a well-paced and engaging from start to finish. This is a full-length alien warrior romance with pulse-pounding action, an overdose of humor, crazy critters, and is an alien abduction romance with a twist
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Surprisingly entertaining read. Zoe of course was kidnapped by aliens, woke up on a ship in a cage next to a lightly furry alien, also in a cage. Held captive by Lizard aliens.
They manage to escape in a pod and land on the planet Shiyann. There they must travel several days thru dangerous territory to a village while being hunted by the Lizard dudes.
All while falling love. I’ve read lots of these scenario alien books, some I rolled my eyes a lot while ready and others I truly enjoyed. This one was in my humble opinion good.
Loved Grr! And Zoe! Both captured by the lizards like Marlocks, they take advantage of bad luck and work a way to escape to a hostile world. Hilarious encounters with the local wildlife (Mr. Nibbles) and awesome time in a gorgeous cave and you have an imaginative story about two people who come to fall in love despite language barriers and species differences.
Such a cute romance that includes a choice for both! Highly recommended.
Solid ⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was really light-hearted and silly. I liked both the MC’s even tho the h was kinda’ TSTL at some points - it was ok. I don’t think it’s meant to be serious so I just kinda shut off my brain and went along for the ride. This feels like a good serious to read when looking for a pallet cleanser or just something really light-hearted.
Honorary mention: Nibbles 🥰 No cheating/no sharing 🥰
What an amazing story! This is such a fantastic mix of witty hilarity and steamy goodness. I love the characters, and the author did such a wonderful job of displaying their strengths and weaknesses throughout the book. There were so many twists and turns, and the author kept me enthralled with the action, danger and romance until the very end. This was a wonderful series starter and I can’t wait to read more books by this author.
DNF @ 44% There’s only a limited amount of TSTL decisions one h can make for me to continue to read a book. The H has fur all over his body, by the way. Maybe the cover should be updated to make more sense. (But the writing was good, I hope the next book released by this author has better main characters)
Admit it...you've all picked up that book because of a title...because you thought....why the heck would they name a book THAT??? So you read the blurb...and then you think, well that sounds interesting...so you grab it. This was that book for me. I thought, well that's a silly name for a book...but it did it's job, that's for sure! LOL.
This is Zeta Star's first published book, so I cautiously optimistic. It was a delightful ride from beginning to end! I loved both characters internal voices. I liked how Grr wasn't portrayed as dumb just because she couldn't understand him. Sometimes that doesn't really shine through the language barrier. I was pleasantly surprised to find a new author that I am looking forward to reading again!
