How could she ever marry if it wasn’t for true love? Although the belle of the season with several suitors all vying for her hand in marriage, Samantha is restless.
Caught between her parents' expectations and her own desire to marry for love, Samantha finds solace caring for her family’s horses, her one true passion.
That is, until she finds an advertisement in the newspaper for a mail-order bride from a horse breeder out west.
All her stars seem to align with the prospect of spending her life helping this man tend his horses, and Samantha replies to the advert with a hopeful heart -- neglecting to mention her status as the daughter from a wealthy family, and writing instead as a farmer’s daughter.
Roy is a country man, born and raised on a ranch like his father. Horse breeding is in his blood, and Roy knows that he needs to find a wife that suits his lifestyle.
After the many replies to his advertisement for a mail-order-bride fail to turn up any suitable candidates, it isn’t until Roy receives Samantha’s letters that he begins to think he may have found his perfect match.
But when his future bride finally arrives, Roy quickly realises that although she is breathtakingly beautiful, Samantha clearly isn’t the country-born lass she painted herself as in her letters.
It is only when he sees her connection to his horses that Roy considers there may be more to this beauty than he originally assumed.
Whilst for Samantha, there is nowhere else she would rather be than with Roy on his ranch… but will she be able to convince him to let her stay?
Secretive Mail-Order Bride and the Horse Breeder is a passionate story about love and following one's heart. Will Samantha find the sort of love she has always longed for? Or will she miss her chance before it has even begun?
I am a shameless romance addict with no intentions of ever kicking the habit. Growing up I dreamed of entertaining people and taking them on fantastical journeys with my acting abilities, until I came to the realization as a college sophomore that I had none to speak of. Another ten years would pass before I discovered a different means to accomplishing the same dream: writing stories of love and passion for addicts just like me.I have always loved romance stories and I try to tie all the elements I like about them into my writing.
Sweet characters and great story. This one gas a good bit of suspense that helped more the plot along. However, the verbiage is entirely too modern. Instead of bathing, they have showers! Showers were not prevalent in this time period! Also the heroine had the thought of not giving into the negative feedback, certainly not used in the later part of the 19th century. I’m truly not nitpicking, but these issues are glaring to me and pulled me out of what is a delightful tale. A good content editor would help tremendously. Happy reading!

I received this ebook ARC from the author on the condition that I write an honest review. Once again, the reader is transported to the beautiful town of Daisy Creek to meet another resident and his mail order bride. The horse breeder, Roy, and his two younger brothers, live on the ranch that they inherited from their parents. He decides to place an ad for a mail order bride. The ad is answered by Samantha, the daughter of a wealthy businessman. She feels unhappy about the pressure that her parents are putting on her, to marry a wealthy man. She hates the endless parties, and the men attempting to win her hand in marriage. Her only happiness is found in her love of riding the family horses. Samantha tells her parents that she has found her own future husband, thru the mail order ad in the newspaper. They get angry, and she escapes to Daisy Creek, to meet Roy. There is an attraction between them, but Roy does not trust her. Eventually she begins working on the ranch, to prove her dedication to the horses. An incident occurs on the ranch, and Roy realizes that he has fallen in love with her. After the incident, they accept each other’s feelings, and they marry. The epilogue does a beautiful job of closing out the story. I’ve read several books written by Amelia Rose, and have loved each one. Her description of the scenes, and hardships of the time are always on point and interesting.

3 1/2 stars. Sweet story that will be especially enjoyed by those who don't like a lot of conflict. The conflict was short and resolved quickly. I liked the story and the characters, but I thought the main characters could have used a few more flaws. Samantha, especially, was a little too perfect in my opinion. Always cheerful and hardworking...but overall a good read.
“Sure. I’ll have you start bright and early in the morning. I’ll have my younger brother Conner put you through the tasks of all the other grooms,” Roy said. He was even more surprised when she smiled brightly, as though he’d just proposed.
Sweet and fun story! Samantha is a Boston debutant that only wants to be with the horses that her father owns. She despises balls and societies rules. Unfortunately, her parents want her to marry well, and the man they have picked makes her skin crawl. She needs to leave Boston quickly!
Roy and his two brothers own a horse breeding ranch in Nebraska. Roy has been lonely for a long time and has come to realize that with no available single women, he needs to advertise for a mail order bride. He starts writing to Samantha thinking she is a farmers daughter.
Imagine his surprise when Samantha arrives and he sees she is anything but…
While this book may be book five of a series, it is definitely able to be read as a standalone. The character information is handled so that you are able to follow along without worry. The story introduces the reader to two very different lifestyles with just the right amount of description to not overwhelm the reader with useless or repetitive information. I especially enjoyed the letter writing aspect to introduce the characters. Overall well done. I will definitely read more by this author in the future.
Yet another great addition to this series, though each book doesn't depend on the other, it is great to continue to have characters from the previous books included in each story. I love how this author introduces the characters, especially the mail order brides. You really get to know the character before they arrive in the western city. I, myself, love horses so this was a real treat to have the groom and his brothers raising and working with the horses. Great characters and love the interaction with the town people. I received this book as an ARC member and this is my honest review.
Enjoyable! Samantha is secretive by nature as can clearly be seen right until the very end of this story. Not only that, but she is a hard worker and very happy to try and fit in with the new people in her life. Roy is a ranch owner who has decided that he would like to have a wife and they begin corresponding. The characters are easy to relate to and are quite endearing. Much happens between the beginning and the ending of this book which is very nicely written. It is fast paced, enjoyable, interesting and can easily be read as a stand-alone. My voluntary review above is written after reading an Advance Reader Copy (ARC) of the book and is based on my thoughts and ideas about it.
This is another great book by Amelia Rose set in Daisy Creek. Doesn't the name just sound wonderful...Daisy Creek. Samantha is a complex character for sure. I LOVE her. The entire story is wonderful. The characters, storyline, plot, everything is great.
You can read this alone. It is in a series ( I love a series ), but you can read it alone, but I think you will get more out of it reading it in order. My opinion.
Wonderful story about Samantha who had a dream of working with horses. Resisting the plans of her wealthy parents to wed a suitable wealthy of their choosing, Samantha answers an ad from a horse rancher and breeder in Daisy Creek, Nebraska. You'll enjoy reading how this remarkable woman defies convention to proof herself as a qualified groomswoman, then woman horse racer, only to save expensive horses from a burning barn, and more!
I would have loved to have been there the first time Samantha rode out dressed in her trousers and riding her horse perfectly. She was perfect for Roy, he just had to get off his high horse (pun intended). I love visiting with our friends in Daisy Creek. Now I just have to wait for Conner and Billie’s stories to get written.
An arranged marriage to a man of society she doesn't feel comfortable with? No, not for Samantha! While Roy, has no single women to even have a possibility of a relationship. Their story is an good one. Good and interesting characters, especially in the West! The mystery happened too quickly and out of left field. Enjoyed this book. 3 1/2 stars.
I am never disappointed when reading a book from this author. This was another endearing book in this series. I cannot wait to read more. There was a rocky start to this happy ending, but it just made the blooming romance and challenge of trust better. I was drawn into their adventure that came with a bit a mail-biting action. Roy and Samantha definitely stole my heart. Book gifted to me.
I loved the characters in this book Samantha is a well bred young woman with a mind of her own who knows exactly what she wants out of life. she won’t let anything stand in her way of accomplishing her dreams. How she goes about it and all that ensues makes this a fun book to read
This is the fifth book in the Daisy Creek Brides Series, a Mail-Order Bride Romance. This is a great Series of standalone books. Samantha and Roy's story is sweet and clean. The characters are great and interesting. I liked Samantha. She is smart, strong, and determined. The storyline has a little suspense. Gina Dobbs did a good job with the narration.
This the my favorite in this series so far. I have always loved horses and riding. Samantha ran away from her family that wanted her to marry for money not love. She answered Roy’s ad seeking a mail order bride but not a rich girl that didn’t know how to do anything. He also wasn’t trying to find another stable hand. BOY was he in for a surprise . Jo
I read Secretive Mail-Order Bride and the Horsr Breeder by Amelia Rose through the kindle Unlimited program. I loved Samantha, head strong, knew exactly what she wanted and did what she had to, to get it. It takes a strong, confidence man to be with a woman like her and Roy had it in spades. This is my favorite couple do far in this series.
A delightful story of a very headstrong young lady who did not want anyone telling her what to do. Roy Fox met his match when he placed an ad for a mail-order bride. I loved their chemistry and their love of horses. They got their HEA.
Sweet, clean romance with enough suspense to keep your attention. Character growth throughout the story strengthens the bond of family and community. Romance between H and h grows believably. Enjoyable. I received an ARC in return for my honest review.
An exciting Mail order bride book with lots of horses! Something I could definitely identify with at a you g age! Loved the spunk and determination of the main character! Great read!
Some things are getting repetitive. The way they complain about the advertisements and responses. The reasons for a wealthy woman to move West. But this is the first debutante that I've read about who loves horses so much. I enjoyed this wild yet refined lady and her search for love!
Samantha may be born into high society but knew the restrictive system was not for her. Following her heart leads her to Roy and a fulfilling life, with a few bumps along the way.
I grew up with several brothers These three brothers treated her well and more like the sister they didn’t have. I worried from the beginning one of the other brothers would fall for her and cause serious problems. All’s well that ends well
Roy only wanted to write letters so he could get to know more about the woman. But when her father tried to make her marry a man, that she didn't love, she ran to Roy. Can love come to them.
Wonderful story with many twists and turns. Plenty of excitement, suspense, danger, New ideas and lots of love. I would recommend this to everyone who enjoys a wonderful story.
A horse crazy Boston heiress answers a wife ad from a Nebraska horse breeder, but lies about her wealth; in the clean, lightly Christian, mail-order bride story.
