“We’re here in front of a grand mansion,” Mike started. “It was moved from another location. As we have seen in previous shows about renovations, you never know who or what you’re going to wake up once you start lifting floorboards. But what happens when you lift the entire house?” Deep in the damp cellars of Riverview, the dead woke from their long rest. They were assaulted by sunlight as the house moved away from the foundations. Hands reached up to pull back the house which had progressed beyond their grasp. They huddled in the dark corners until nightfall and then crawled out looking for the house they had always thought was rightfully theirs. The stark construction-littered lawn was all that greeted them. They felt the pull of the house and knew it was near, but the light had cost them too much energy. They moved back down to the hidden rooms and would reside there until they had enough power to go in search of their stolen home. And when they found it, the people who stole it would pay. They would pay dearly. Cid and Jesse head down south to an unusual renovation project. They are going to put a post-Civil War mansion back together after it was moved from its riverside home up Telegraph Hill to sit on the property where a once proud Queen Anne house stood before it was burned to the ground. Pickles Renovation is going to have to deal with more than cracked timbers and reconstructing the damaged areas of Riverview Manor. They have ghosts to rest from Riverview Manor’s past but also Briarwood House, a house that haunts Riverview. Cid, who stubbornly refuses help from Mia Martin early in the investigation, decides that Riverview is way over his and Jesse’s heads. He decides to call in the best of the best to help. But will it be in time? Join Cid Garrett on an investigation of a lifetime in Riverview Manor, book six of the Cid Garrett P.I. series.
My idea of a great vacation is a porch swing, view of the water and a pile of books to read. Once upon a time… I wonder if those words spoken to, or read for the first time, were the catalyst for the spark that lit the fire within us. To write and tell a story the way each of us does is a gift and a responsibility. We sometimes toil hours with an idea, or even just one sentence, not knowing if anyone beyond us will ever read our words. We do it for love. The love of bringing to light the world that resides inside our heads. It does not matter if we have a happy ending or a soulful gasp. What matters is that we put these thoughts on paper. So keep writing my friends. Keep taking us to the secret corners of your mind. Be brave. Tempt fate and above all enjoy.
As always I didn't want to stop reading. Ms Aaron is gifted. All of the characters in each of her books,(repeat and new) are introduced and easy to remember. Some are complicated, some are not. As well as being entertained, the reader learns something new in every book. Mental health, PTSD, demon possession, good people, bad people and what makes them tick. I always enjoy the history in these stories. I sometimes stop reading long enough to Google something in her books. In this one it was the Dignity memorial. Now seeing that statue in person is on my bucket list. Write on MS Aaron, I impatiently await your next book. Thank you for sharing your gift .
I love Alexie Aaron’s books, and anxiously await each new arrival. (I’ve read them all; most more than once.) I had my fingers crossed, hoping this one would come out on my day off and I got lucky. I am a very fast reader, and when I have a good book by a favorite author, I fly right through. (reading really is my super power.) “Riverview Manor” is a wonderful book and was a pleasure to read. We also see further development of characters we’ve known through both the Peeps novels and the Cid Garrett novels, giving us a richer understanding of those folks, their lives, & their motivations. I highly recommend all of Alexie Aaron’s books.
I love this series and wow, what another great book. So love all these characters and love watching Cid evolve not just as a ghost hunter but also in his life. It was great having all the characters from this series and Mia and others from her other books join Cid and his fellow craftsman on another fantastic adventure. Love how I'm drawn into the story and feel like im in the book with them. Laughing, hugging and crying. Thanks Alexie for another wonderful book that I just couldn't put down.
I am and always will be a huge fan of all things PEEPs. Act, I'm a fan of all that springs from the creative well aka Alexie Aaron. This book totally warmed my heart...it has so many things going for it: great characters; an awesome plot line; and an easy, friendly style. As with all of Ms Aaron's books 📚, I am sad to see this adventure end. But I have faith that my next PEEPs experience is just around the corner. Thanks, Alexie...and BRAVO!!!
I always always look for Alexie Aaron's books hoping to see a new one has come out. Overall I really enjoyed reading this book.. I f i have to say anything tgats not 100% I maaayybe would have liked to have a little more involvement of the The Mascouten or none at all. They almost seemed like a "we need one more thing in the book". Thank you so much for all your books and fingers crossed for more to come.
CID Garrett is moving on with a last job for Kiki to pay for a present for Sally. This is as exciting, but not as violent and scary as normal. It connects a lot of new people and prepares the way for different adventures in the future. It was amazing and a great conclusion to this series. There are ghosts, low income houses, mansions, lumberjacks and a native tribe. I hope everyone enjoys this book. (I paid full price for the last few.)
Alexie Aaron has come up with another winner. I love this story that has showcased Cid and brought PEEPS back to its roots. I love the Haunted series but it was so enjoyable to have the whole gang back together again on an investigation like they had at the beginning. I felt like I was there and truly wanted to be there in person.
A fun read. Glad to have less of Kiki, more of Cid, Jesse and the other contractors, especially Wayne and Gary. The intertwining of the two houses with the overlapping ghost was a nice twist. And loved the big black dog.
The Cid series just keeps getting better. I really liked the way Cid had the opportunity to become lead investigator for once. Can't wait for the next book in the series!
