Mr. Nice Guy

Rate this book
NICE GUYS CAN PLAY DIRTY TOO . . .

‘Give me a week. Seven days and seven nights. I’ll show you what it’s like to be with a nice guy.’

Chelsea’s housemate Tom is tired of her complaining about her boyfriends. Arrogant, sexy, irresistible—bad boys are basically Chelsea’s M.O.

Pretty much everything that Tom is not. He’s dependable and sweet. He’s also kind of hot in a cute, unthreatening way. His offer surprises Chelsea. He’s right . . . she’s never really given a nice guy a chance before. And now she’s curious. Hell, it might even be fun.

There’s just one rule: this isn’t a friends with benefits arrangement. Except Chelsea never imagined nice guys could play so dirty . . .

Chelsea’s always chosen the wrong guys rather than the nice guys. Her roommate, Tom, decides to show her how she should be treated through a series of dates over the course of a week. However, they both begin forgetting that this was only pretend.

So this book has a trope that I love: the fake-dating-turn-real trope. However, Belinda Williams doesn’t follow the cliches. Usually with the fake-dating trope, it’s usually to make an ex jealous so it was a refreshing new angle on the trope.

Williams has written an easy, comfort read that you can read in one sitting (which I did) and it was filled with romance, tension and angst!! There was also plenty of humour as well, which I enjoyed, especially the fact that Chelsea appeared to choke with every meal.

Both characters have things to deal with before they can venture into a relationship. Tom has always wanted to fix and save people, but he doesn’t want to do that with Chelsea, as despite what she thinks, she doesn’t need saving. But Tom has let this mentality ruin all his serious relationships. Whereas Chelsea views herself as never being good enough, in the shadows of her sister. But together, they’re able to overcome all their fears and realise the most important thing of all: communication.

Despite dealing with their own worries and concerns, such as Tom not really recovering from his mother dying when he was young, there is still an easy-going feel to the book and you just don't want to put the book down at all. Overall, this is the perfect book to read during the summer as you'll fly through it.

One thing I would have liked to see would have been more character development, mainly with Tom, as although he did start communicating at the end, it would have been nice to see how he was in the relationship after they talked. However, this could just be me wishing the book was even longer!

Chelsea always goes for the bad boys and it never ends well for her. When Chelsea’s best friend Nadia suggests she goes for Mr. Nice Guy instead she suggests Chelsea’s roommate Tom, who also happens to be her older brother’s best friend. To everyone’s surprise Tom agrees. Seven days and seven nights is all he must show her what it’s like to be with a nice guy. They agree to the one rule this isn’t a friends with benefits agreement.

I loved the concept of this book, and how there wasn’t an instant connection you saw the characters develop feelings and that connection and eventually realize how they have been feeling all along.
I loved all the characters! It was so refreshing to see a female main character that wasn’t this super thin model like person but had a normal body shape and was self conscious about herself, it was very relatable. I also related to how she views her current job and the future of it.

Can’t wait for the rest of the series!

Mr. Nice Guy is the first book in the Pierce Brothers series by Belinda Williams. I never pass up any of Belinda Williams’ stories- as she never fails to deliver a very entertaining read. This is a fun romcom with a bit of a friends-to-lovers element that gave the story an extra element of interest for me.
Chelsea has been unlucky in love, always falling for the bad boys who aren’t cut out to be in a relationship. Tom happens to be her friend and housemate who has heard about every one of the ‘failures’. He has a suggestion that takes Chelsea by surprise, but also intrigues her. And so a fake relationship begins. Tom will show Chelsea what she’s been missing out on by not dating a ‘nice guy’. Get set for the fun to begin. Will the lines between friendship become blurred beyond recognition? What happens if feeling become involved? This story is worth the read to find out all the entertaining details.
Another great read from Belinda Williams. I am definitely looking forward to the rest of the series!
Happy Reading!

Thank you, Belinda Williams!

Mr Nice Guy By Belinda Williams was such a great read! so much fun and gorgeous characters with lots of heart. It was the very first book I have ever read that is actually set in the area that I live and that was so much fun! Harrys is the stuff of legends! If you are a local you know what I mean, If not Read the book! lol

Chelsea is a beautiful young woman, who is ALWAYS dating the wrong guy! She shares an apartment with her older brothers best mate Tom, a good looking paramedic who is so over hearing about her dating misadventures. When her friend Nadia suggests she needs a nice guy and that Tom is in fact a nice guy both Chelsea and Tom think she is nuts at first! This does give Tom an idea though and he decides Chelsea needs to learn what dating a nice guy truly means. He offers to date her for a week to show her how she truly should be treated. During this week attraction grows and the true story becomes could this pretend relationship actually become a real meaningful one? or will past hurts get in the way?

I know I have said this before but this book truly was such a fun read with characters full of heart that you so easily connect with. Do yourself a huge favour and read this book now!!!! I now need more Belinda Williams books! Ms Williams you have a new fan.

Mr. Nice Guy (Pierce Brothers Book 1) by Belinda Williams

Mr. Nice Guy is the first book in the Pierce Brothers Series by Belinda Williams. This is a romance/ friends to lovers book that is fast paced and once you start you won’t want to put it down. Tom and Chelsea are housemates , she seems to only attract “bad boys" so Tom has offered to show her what a nice guy is like. Tom is about to prove to them both in a way that nice guys really do exist. There is definitely chemistry between them . What will happen when she is offered a seven day ultimate nice guy dating experience? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait for the next book 8n this series.

Mr. Nice Guy (Pierce Brothers Book 1) by Belinda Williams is your typical friend to lovers/brothers’ best friend romcom. It is a quick read where we watch friends see more in each other than they ever have before. 7 days and it could all change. This cute tale will have you laughing and tearing up at different times. Grab a copy and just enjoy the easy read. I must admit sometimes I felt like I could not connect fully to the characters, but it was an easy read.

Mr Nice Guy by Belinda Williams a fun five-star read. This is the first story in the Pierce Brothers series, and I am excited for the next story in the series as this has been fun and romantic and just nice to read. Chelsea reminds me of me, I used to adore the bad boys, and didn’t see the appeal of the nice guy, until I married one. I oved how the story showed, that just because someone appears one way, they may not always be that way. This will suck you in and Chelsea will annoy you, but she will also endear you, at least she did with me. Belinda Williams writes a good funny romcom always.

Mr. Nice Guy is a short easy read filled with lots of romance topes. The most prominent of which is brother’s best friend / best friend’s sister. Of course there are other topes included like fake relationship and only one bed. The book itself is well written and the pacing is correct for a shorter book.

I honestly struggled with both Chelsea and Tom. I have zero empathy for Chelsea. It seemed like all she did was make bad situations for herself and then play the victim card. Like if giving your not-quite-a-boyfriend money is going to drain your savings, maybe don’t give him money. I can’t get behind heroines without a brain.

As for Tom, I think I’ve watched Promising Young Woman too recently and am exhausted by men in general, because I am firmly of the belief that any man who declares himself “a nice guy” should be avoided at all costs because they are never as nice as they claim to be. Remember kids, “nice is different than good.”

Overall this book was fine. Where it was short the things I didn’t like didn’t weigh the story down too much, but I’m not going to jump onto the next book in the series.

↠ 4.0 ★★★★☆

Why else would they choose the bad boys time and time again? Girls love the idea of them. It excites them. It feel risky. All the constant guessing is actually really enticing, but too often they confuse lust with love. Never knowing if he's going to stick around keep thing interesting. Nice guys seem boring in comparison

A very addictive book and extremely fast to read. I think is perfect if you come from a slump or from a series of tough books, or if simply you only want to relax with a fun read.

This book is about the story of Chealsea and Tom, two characters that I loved, the chapters are interspersed between their perspectives and for me was something that gave its touch to the story. Chealsea likes bad boys, the ones that always hurt her and never compromised. At the start of the book, we saw her like somebody insecure, that didn’t know what to do in the future and she didn’t hold herself in high regard, but throughout the book we saw how these things were changing, I loved her development, I thought it was super nice. For the other side we have Tom, the good guy, but that actually have his owns problems, I loved that he was paramedic, it’s something that you don’t see much in books, but in the final he was making me a little desperate, like “Boy, notice” I NEED that everything will end well

The book could have some common tropes but the author focus them in a different way that make them feel fresh, we have a bit of good girl-bad boy, fake relationship and even one bed. For me some moments were too much in the form of classified everything, like good girls/bad boys do this, women/men do that, I don’t know, for me was so white and black in some parts, but I cannot deny that some points are correct and that I could note the different between the boys.

Definitively if you are looking for a light, funny story with a beautiful romance, this is your book, I read it in less than two days because I couldn’t stop. This was the first book in a series about the Pierce brothers and obviously I will be here waiting for the next books.

You think it's hard to live with regrets? It's harder to die with them

Tom has got to be one of the sweetest, most amazing bookish boyfriends ever. I loved how sweet and sincere he was, how much he really, truly cared not just about Chelsea but also about how their relationship might affect his friendship with her brother. He was sweet and charming, calm and supportive and he really listened to her, making sure to tailor their dates to her preferences. On the other hand, he moved so slow. I mean, seriously slowly. I know it was out of respect but most of their week was up before he even kissed her, (though there was quite a bit of contact after one of the dates). That said, I really like it when relationship building and character development have more time than sex scenes- don’t get me wrong, there is some sexy stuff here, but it doesn’t overrun the whole book.

Chelsea was a bit problematic for me. I loved her- I did…. but I hated how hard she was on herself- it got to the point that it became painful and a bit boring if I am honest. That said, I understand her reasoning, and there was a good amount of character growth which makes me happy. There’s great chemistry between these two and I had a lot of fun reading their story.

Told in dual narrative (Tom and Chelsea), it was really easy to connect with each character. The book never seemed to really lag, but had a good, steady flow to it. I really enjoyed it, and I will be ordering book two when it comes out late October. For me, this was a four star book.

⭐⭐⭐⭐
Rating: 4 out of 5.
As far as adult content goes, this one is definitely geared toward adults. There’s drinking, language (sometimes a bit excessive in the instance of one character, but it makes sense), and sexual content. I would say eighteen years old at a minimum.

The bad boy wins the girl because the nice guy always finishes last, right?

As I navigated my twenties, I fell into the trap of always choosing the bad boy to crush on. Of course, this always led to tears and a bruised heart. So when I read the premise of this book and the choices of its main character, Chelsea, I just had to see how she broke this same vicious cycle.

Enter Nadia and Tom to help. Nadia is Chelsea's vivacious best friend, and Tom, well he's "just Tom" (who happens to be Chelsea's brother's best friend and her roommate). Why is Tom "just Tom"? He has earned that title being the prime example of a nice guy. Nadia and Tom accidentally pitch the idea that Chelsea should fake date Tom for seven days to help her see what the nice guys might "just" be the thing she truly needs. She agrees and a lot of quirky dates fill the week. And maybe Tom isn't too bad on the eyes.

Belinda Williams does a great job making these characters easy to cheer on and connect with. Chelsea is kind, spunky, smarter than she realizes, and most importantly always stays true to herself. She cannot see just how wonderful people think she is. Tom is strong both emotionally and physically, tender, and puts others before himself. However, he might have some pieces within himself that might need to be fixed. There is even a Dragon Lady, whose fire might not be as hot as one believes.

Set in Australia, I loved both the imagery (live by the water is my fantasy) and the lingo used (living in America I love learning how other people use cooler words to say the same thing in another country!). She even sets up a strong sequel using characters within this book (shhh not giving that away!).

And I am not also giving away if seven days is all it takes. ;)

3.5 stars for this cute romcom!
This was my first book by Belinda Williams and I will for sure be continuing with this series.
Chelsea and Tom are flatmates, when Tom overhears another one of Chelsea's boyfriends has done her wrong, he suggests that she find a nice guy to show her how she should be treated. Tom has a secret crush on Chelsea, but doesn't want to act on it because he is her brother's best friend, but he surely can show her how she should be treated. So, for a week, they come to an agreement. Tom and Chelsea will "date" and she will see what it means to be with a good guy.
Chelsea hasn't seen Tom in a romantic way before, but as they begin to get closer, she is noticing things that she has previously ignored. Like, how Tom looks without his shirt and how he can cook a mean curry. Tom is like a best friend to her, but if he becomes more could everything be ruined?
As their situation progresses, each of them blurs the line between friendship and more, but will Chelsea be the one to run back to her old ways or will Tom get scared of ruining what they had.
This book was super cute and a fun easy read. I didn't connect with either of the characters tremendously, but I adore nice guys. The tension at the end of the book felt a little odd to me and I didn't quite understand the situation and what really was going on. It felt a little too convoluded and I didn't understand how it affected the character in the way it had for the length of time that it had. With that being said, I loved the side characters. Nadia is my favorite and I completely related to her. I have a feeling her book will be next and I am here for that!

My opinion
I loved this book, I love the fake-dating-turn-real trope. Although this author doesn't follow the clichés of this trope. I absolutely loved that this was meant to teach Chelsea a lesson.
The autor has written an easy, comfort read that you can read in one sittingand it was filled with romance and tension. There was also plenty of humour as well, which I enjoyed.
I loved both characters, they have a way of charming you and making you laugh at every witticism of what they say. And Tom taught us all how to be a nice guy (even when he didn't like that word so much).

Chelsea has a bad habit of falling for bad boys. After her most recent relationship drama, her roommate and old friend Tom makes a deal with her. They pretend date for a week so Chelsea can see what it’s like to finally date a nice guy.

This book was great. Chelsea and Tom messed so well together as friends and as a couple. I absolutely adored them together and was cheering them on throughout the entire story! Their banter throughout the book made them feel like a real couple. I also loved the side characters and everything they brought to the story to make it feel more real.

The plot was well thought out and the idea of “fake dating” to find Mr. Nice Guy was such a great idea. It didn’t follow the normal “fake dating” path, it was a refreshing twist. And the chemistry between the main characters was undeniable and off the charts. They brought out the best in the other person and had a spicy romance along the way.

This book was such an easy and fun read. I finished it about 12 hours, I was dying to know how it played out!
I really enjoyed this book and I’m excited to read about the next three Pierce brothers in the series!

A special thank you to NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this book.

Chelsea is attracted to bad boys...which leads to her crying over douchebags time after time. After her latest failed relationship...her crazy best friend has the idea that she should try out a good guy for once. And the only good guy she can think of is her roommate, Tom.

Tom let Chelsea move in as a favor to his best friend, who just happens to be Chelsea's older brother. When he hears the girl's crazy plan of a good guy trial run with Chelsea...he isn't sure if this is the best or worst idea they have come up with. After agreeing to it, he shows Chelsea what dating a good guy looks like. But, in the span of a week, both start having (and showing) feelings that are more than just friends. Could this be the end of their friendship...or something more?

I enjoyed Chelsea and Tom's characters. Both have stressful jobs and pasts that make real relationships hard. When they both come to terms with what they are feeling...it could be too late. Both are witty and funny and definitely enjoyable characters. I was immersed in the story from the beginning and didn't put the book down until I was done. I am excited that this is the first in a series because I am ready to read whatever comes next!

Tom Pierce is tired of watching his housemate Chelsea date all the wrong guys. She’s forever going for bad boys who don’t treat her well, arrogant men who are essentially the polar opposite of dependable Tom. He shocks Chelsea with his offer to behave as a boyfriend would with her for a week, bedroom activities excluded, and show her what a relationship with a nice guy could be like. Curiosity peaked, Chelsea takes him up on his offer and soon begins to wish benefits hadn’t been taken off the table.

This was a cute read from a new to me author that I will definitely be trying again. Tom was adorable and yet he had so much depth and layers for Chelsea to peel back. He also helped Chelsea find her own layers and grow as a person so both our MCs here displayed great character development. The slow burning tension between Chelsea and Tom made them easy to root for, even as I sometimes wanted to smack them for their poor attempts at communicating. Thankfully, they were charming enough together that I didn’t even mind when the dreaded third act separation (a plot device I hate) was employed since it was kept brief, and the reunion and mutual declaration of feelings was quite satisfying. I enjoyed this story and will be continuing the series.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Blog link: https://mustreadalltheromance.blogspo...

I loved this romantic comedy by a favourite author of mine Belinda Williams. ‘Mr. Nice Guy’ is the first book in a new series featuring the naughty but nice Pierce Brothers. This was a lighthearted, fun read with plenty of romance and a bit of drama which had me happily turning the pages. The storyline flowed well making it an easy read and the authors descriptive narrative bought both the characters and the setting to life. The story had the right mix of laugh out loud moments, emotional moments and of course romance leading to some steamy scenes. I was hooked from page one and could not put this book down. I fell in love with the very likeable and relatable characters, especially Tom and Chelsea. Chelsea is used to dating ‘bad boys’ but her housemate Tom is fed up of her complaining about her boyfriends and says she should give a ‘nice guy’ a try, someone like him! “Give me a week. Seven days and seven nights. I’ll show you what it’s like to be with a nice guy”, the only rule is that it’s not a friends with benefits arrangement. However, It’s not long before Chelsea realises that nice guys can play dirty too. This was such an entertaining, enjoyable and engaging read which I definitely recommend.

Mr. Nice Guy was such a great read and I can’t say enough good stuff about it. Chelsea is the little sister of Tom’s best friend and when she needed a place to stay, Tom took her in. Typical book..just like all the others, right…..WRONG!
Chelsea dates loser after loser until one night her best friend schemes up a plan for her to date a nice guy for once. Who else would be perfect to play that part aside from Tom? Only one problem, Tom is extremely attracted to Chelsea. When she sees him at the beach with no shirt on and he sees her in that itty bitty bikini, the reader expects it to be done…..NOPE!
They are supposed to date for one week. The first few dates are just a nightmare lol. Also, Tom has a lot of baggage he still hasn’t overcome yet. These two are absolutely perfect for eachother but what if, they both end up having real feelings for eachother and then it doesn’t work out. They are friends and roommates. Is it worth losing what they have? Will they ever find out if it’s worth a shot? You have to read this 5* read to find out. I loved it and cannot wait for more.

This story was basically just one big checklist of tropes I love - brother's best friend, friends to lovers, only one bed, fake dating! I really liked Tom's character and how he proved the nice guys aren't boring doormats, but rather considerate partners. He and Chelsea had great chemistry, even when they were talking more so as friends in the beginning of the book. I really loved Chelsea and her character growth throughout the book and that, while Tom encouraged some of that growth like going back to school, she pursued it all on her own. I thought Tom's main conflict was interesting, especially because that's a flaw I've seen before in heroines in romance books, not so much the heroes. Both Tom and Chelsea have some bad relationship habits to break in this story, luckily they are perfect for each other. I do wish we would have seen a bit more of their dynamic before the fake dating arrangement (which gets set up in the first few pages). I was a bit confused at times at just how close they were before because they grew up together and have been living together for 3 years, but there were some lines that indicated they didn't interact much and both kept to themselves.

Thanks NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for review. Expected publication date is June 28, 2021.

Mr. Nice Guy by Belinda Williams is the perfect beach read this summer! I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a short read that can be finished in a short time. It was the first book that I have read by her and I plan to read the following books in the series.

Belinda has written a very relatable character in Chelsea, reminding me of how it felt to fall for a nice guy after dealing with so many bad guys in the past. Belinda also wrote an amazing character in Tom, making him easy for the reader to also grow attraction towards him as Chelsea develops her own feelings for the sweet and sensitive paramedic. The plot is captivating, with twists and turns in this not-so run-of-the-mill romance novel, that keeps the reader wondering if it will have a happy ending up until the very end of the novel.

This book was a fantastic read! I had a very hard time putting it down and finished it in a few hours. Chelsea and Tom were very sweet and I thoroughly enjoyed the development of their situation. It was refreshing to see a man who overthinks and not just the woman as that brings a different perspective to a relatable issue. The roles their work played, life experiences and idiosyncrasies of their personalities were well incorporated into the plot. I felt like the story was pieced nicely together. The concept of the nice guy taming the unconventional girl with a penchant for under-appreciating men really hit the mark for me! A quote that really stood out to me was, “You think it’s hard to live with regrets? It’s harder to die with them.” This is definitely a good read if you are looking for a romantic comedy with some insight.

Mr. Nice Guy by Belinda Williams is a short easy comfort read with great characters, a refreshing twist on fake dating turns to real dating, and fantastic word building. This romance story kept this reader on the edge of her seat with drama, angst, romance, and more. I found myself flipping through the pages faster then a bolt of lightning to find out what happens next and I was not disappointed. The way that Ms. Williams developed her main family character was relatable, it was refreshing to have a female lead that wasn’t a skinny super model but has a normal body style that makes her more relatable to some women like myself. While I loved the book over all the one thing I would have liked to see was a little more character development, but over all I can’t wait to see where Ms. Williams takes this series.

This is a sweet romance with a set up like your favourite rom-com: nice guy roommate given a chance to show the pretty girl with a penchant for bad boys just what she might be missing. I really liked the character of Tom and how casually he embodied a regular, respectful man. He treated Chelsea how she should be treated: with respect, care, and thoughtfulness. This doesn't mean he's milquetoast and boring however; he simply treats her like a person he cares about. There really is no going back to self-centred jerks who play games with your emotions after that! The story was believable and well-written, and the characters were appropriately round and fleshed out. While the plot followed an expected path, there were some stops along the way that surprised me and added depth. A good comfort read with a little bit of sizzle.

Tom is the kind of man women dream of. He is polite and intuitive and reading this book sends shivers down your spine in wanting a man just like him. When Tom offers to show Chelsea what a "nice guy" entails, you immediately dive into a pool of wonder what it would be like to date a nice guy. Belinda Williams does an amazing job at giving the readers what they want in a story. It is heartwarming, captivating, and an overall enjoyable read. I was engrossed from the beginning and was intrigued to learn more about the character development. I was hooked on every page and could not put the book down. I too became enthralled in wanting to have a relationship with a good guy and what that would be like ( a girl can dream!). Chelsea found herself a keeper, even I am jealous! ;) Also the last chapter was such a fun way to end a book!

Mr. Nice Guy was the first book I’ve read from Belinda Williams and I am thoroughly impressed. I finished this book in one sitting because I could not put it down! Mr. Nice Guy is a story about two roommates, Chelsea and Tom, who arrange a fake dating situation to convince Chelsea to go for better guys. Tom, the nicest of nice guys agrees to a week of showing Chelsea what a good guy should do in a relationship. He does such a good job that even the reader might fall in love with him! The characters are so lovable and I really liked that Williams included both Chelsea’s and Tom’s perspective throughout the story. Mr. Nice Guy is a light, entertaining read that will have you hooked from the beginning. I recommend that any reader who loves a good rom-com or beach read run to pick this book up when it comes out on June 28th! 4/5 stars from me!

This is the first installment of this series and Belinda has done a wonderful job getting started! Tom has been in Chelsea's life since they were kids and, since she moved in to his apartment, has been hearing about her failed relationships wishing there was something he could do to change the type of guy she is interested in. Her best friend, Nadia, suggests a week of "fake-dating" the nice guy for a change and volunteers Tom. Absolutely NO benefits. The dates are sweet and thoughtful, Tom is the perfect book-boyfriend, and Chelsea is growing as a person. Add in just a little bit of drama, some sad parts, and a few surprises - I'm all in! Can't wait for the next book about the next brother!

I enjoyed this romance story. This is an author I have enjoyed from the first book I picked up of hers. I was pulled into the story by the characters with ease. They made the story engaging and fast paced. They made the story pop off the pages and gave the story a realistic feel. This is a well written story about Tom and Chelsea. They are housemates and Tom has just offered to show her that nice guys really do exist. He is not necessarily a nice guy but he is about to prove otherwise to Chelsea. What happens next with these two I highly recommend reading to find out. I enjoyed their chemistry and watching them grow throughout the story. A great romance story that you don’t want to miss.

This story follows Chelsea and Tom. Chelsea has a long list of douchebags she has dated and Tom wants to prove that she deserves a Nice Guy.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a quick read and the pacing was pretty fast too. Even if it was predictable, it kept me hooked.

It is a typical romance story with kind of a fake dating trope. It was refreshing to see a male character who wasn't overly confident with his looks and was a self proclaimed nice guy. I loved both the main characters as well as the side character Nadia, it was nice to see that she wasn't ashamed to be herself. I would like to know more about her.

Overall, it was a quick fun read that definitely brought me out of my reading slump!
