When Nate Coleman lands a job as a producer on the hit reality dating show Chasing Prince Charming, he’s excited for the new opportunity. His first task is to interview Becca Hale, a gorgeous single mom who’s looking for her second chance at love following the death of her war hero husband. Nate’s job is to make Becca comfortable so that she’ll spill her juiciest secrets on camera—but as they get to know each other, he finds himself more and more drawn to her.
Nate wishes he could be the one taking her on elaborate dates or just chilling with her back at the hotel, not the guy being paid to get her to swoon for the cameras about another man. As he and Becca grow closer, she begins to confide in him, revealing things about her past she’s desperate to keep private, and Nate is increasingly unsure where his loyalties lie—with his employer or with this woman whose hold on his heart grows stronger every day.
Becca’s looking for her happily ever after, and Nate wants to be the one to give it to her—
But can the man being paid to manipulate her win Becca’s heart without losing her trust?
Megan Walker lives in Utah with her husband, two kids, and two dogs-all of whom are incredibly supportive of the time she spends writing about romance and crazy Hollywood hijinks. She loves making Barbie dioramas and reading trashy gossip magazines (and, okay, lots of other books and magazines, as well.) Megan has also written several published fantasy and science-fiction stories under the name Megan Grey.

Becca is a widow with two children a sassy five year old with a love of glitter and a nine year old who is deaf you fall in love with these right away. Becca is put forward to a reality show with loads of different women all wanting one prince charming to choose them. Each week one of the women are illiminated but along the way Becca is in a dilemma as she has strong feelings for one of the directors of the show not prince charming oops and before you feel sorry for the actual prince charming remember he is seeing a different woman every day. Meet the director Nate mmmmm nice the chemistry is hot. Becca didn't have a good marriage her deceased husband was quite abusive not physically but verbally so you understand her insecurity in herself but she shows what a strong woman she is. Meet the kids, the in-laws Becca and Nate, and don't forget prince charming and all the other contestants, I so enjoyed reading this story and was lucky enough to receive as an ARC I would definitely recommend reading this for the light heartedness with a stellar story line.
The thing I love about Walker & Patterson's stories is that within a few pages you're in love with their characters. It's so easy to be invested in their characters right from the start. Becca is a single mom with two young daughters and a husband who was killed while deployed. Her eldest daughter is deaf and her youngest is sweet and precocious. Becca is going to a contestant on a dating reality show themed around meeting your prince. From the start she is infatuated, but not with the prince, with her producer. He feels the same about her. Their chemistry is electric but she is supposed to be falling for the prince and he is supposed to be helping dig up drama for the cameras. Misunderstandings, hilarity and touching moments ensue.
It's another great character story with depth and perhaps a bit more steam than I traditionally like, but I think most will enjoy. Read this one if you enjoyed One to Watch, The Charm Offensive or shows like The Bachelor/Bachelorette.
Thanks to the authors for the gifted copy. All opinions above are my own. This and the rest of the series are on KindleUnlimited so they are easy to check out.
3.5/5 stars. I love romances set on reality tv shows, especially Bachelor-type shows, and this was a fun and cute one. Parts of this felt a bit repetitive (a lot of waffling and uncertainty by both MCs) and I generally dislike when conflict stems from a lack of communication, but this had so many warm and adorable moments and Nate and Becca were so cute together. I loved Becca’s precocious daughter, Thea, and thought her conversations with Nate were some of the best parts of the story. I had such a big smile on my face every time they talked. Overall, a super cute romance with some great moments of humor and steam!
Becca has gone through her closet trying on outfits and looks nothing like a princess and everything like a desperate mom. Her daughter Thea signs to her that she looks fine.
Although the contestants for the reality TV show CHASING PRINCE CHARMING will be wearing ballgowns on the show, she was asked to dress in her everyday clothes which weren't an option for her. Because her everyday clothes consisted of a pair of stained jeans, an old t-shirt, and a messy bun.
But it's too late to change because the TV people have arrived. Just as she is opening the door her other daughter Rosie throws two handfuls of glitter at her face yelling "YOU'RE A PRINCESS!" She is horrified that she is going to be interviewed covered in GLITTER and the producer standing in front of her can barely keep a straight face. Wonderful!
Becca's friend signed her up as a contestant and she's gone along with it not looking for her Prince Charming, but for the adventure. She learned the hard way from her deceased husband that there are no Princes, but that is something that she has kept from her daughters and in-laws for the past three years.
He may have been a horribly abusive husband, but he loved his daughters - Thea was ten-years-old and amazing despite how she was treated differently when people realized she was deaf and Rosie was a very active five-year-old who was either very excited or very NOT. Hopefully, for this interview she would very excited and not have one of her meltdowns.
This is Nate Coleman's first interview for this year's contestants. Well, it is his first interview period. He was Head Producer for his friend Jason's JASON CLIMBS SH!T YouTube channel and although the show was going places he couldn't get Jason to see any further than YouTube and was amazed when he got a Producer job for this show especially being a black man from Jamaica.
His first job with a show that had one of the highest ratings and followers on network TV. He was in a white industry with a definite white cast. He knew there were three black women contestants, but also that their chances of staying to the end were heavily against them.
Becca is dressed in a beautiful dark blue ballgown sitting in one of the thirty horse-drawn carriages lined up in front of their castle for the show. She is so glad that she is joined by Nate as she waits for the carriages to move up one at a time to the enormous manor house with a long cobblestone drive in Sunset Beach that has actual turrets.
As with her interview, Nate had a way of calming her nerves and they talked and joked around until it was her turn to exit the carriage to meet Prince Charming. Where she almost landed on her face at Prince Preston Carmichael's feet. People don't realize how cumbersome these gowns are and trying to exit the carriage gracefully takes grace that she evidently doesn't have.
Just as the contestants are wearing ballgowns, Preston is dressed in formal wear fit for a Prince. He looks like he stepped out of a Disney movie. Preston may be a handsome man, but he had nothing on Nate who was drop-dead gorgeous. She was having a hard time remembering why she was here when Nate was nearby.
I loved loved loved this book! It is a behind-the-scenes story of reality tv and not only the bitchiness of the contestants, but the manipulations from producers to get the story they want for the most dramatic effect for their ratings.
The characters are all true to life and you feel like you are a part of the story. We have Becca and her daughters, Thea and Rosie, and her in-laws. We get to meet several of the "nice" contestants and Preston. Jason and Emily even make a visit (they had their HEA in The Real Not-Wifes of Red Rock Canyon, but this book can be read as a standalone novel).
The storyline is as you would expect from a reality tv show. Catty women who try to sabotage the other contestants. Becca was worried about how Thea would be betrayed on the show and that her deafness would be put in a negative light. But, Becca had bigger worries than Thea's deafness to worry about.
This book is full of action and suspense of who Becca will choose to be her Prince Charming. I am so happy that my thoughts as to how the book should progress worked out, but did not expect the reality of what happens at the end of this story. This book is hilarious and steamy hot.
I highly recommend this book! If you haven't read any of Megan and Janci's stories, you are missing out!
Chasing Prince Charming is the fourteenth book in The Extra Series. Once again Janci Patterson and Megan Walker have brought the readers a story that is well written, filled with wit, laugh out loud moments, and quirky characters who can be outlandish and OTT but still lovable and endearing. The story is about Nate Coleman and Becca Hale. They meet when Nate is hired as a producer on the reality TV show Chasing Prince Charming and Becca is one of the women who is there as a "contestant" trying to get the "Prince" to pick her. The only problem is that Nate falls head over heels for Becca and wants to be her Prince Charming.....for the rest of their lives. Becca is a single mother who was widowed at a young age when her husband was killed while serving his country. Now she is looking to start over and hoping to find her Prince Charming. So a reality show is the way to go.....??? Along the way she meets Nate who continues to talk with her and gets her to open up about her innermost secrets. As Nate continues he becomes more conflicted as to whether what Becca tells him he should divulge to the show or keep her secrets to himself, and keep her trust and maybe budding love. Has Becca found her Prince Charming in a man she was not expecting, or will he turn out to be a toad?
I received a copy of this book and am leaving my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
Becca is a widowed mother of two wonderful daughters one of whom is deaf. Her husband Rob died a hero but she still has lots of issues about how he used to treat her while alive. She has signed on a Bachelor type dating show in an attempt to move forward and open herself up to love again, although she feels a bit out of place being over thirty and trying to keep her past problems a secret. Soon she has more secrets to keep as she falls for Nate, a producer on the show who has been assigned to coax her secrets out of her.
This was my first book by these authors. I was a little bored in the beginning but the story grew on me and I got engrossed by the emotional tug of war, the ethical questions they faced during the manipulative show and her adorable children. Nate was a great characters and I loved his connection to Thea and the way he learned to sign. The finale of the show was a lovely wrap-up.

Another easy-to-read and funny story in this series, two people who want to become a couple however they lack in their communication skills; they keep on imagining what the other wants or what the reaction means but they don´t talk, they don´t clarify meanings and then the confusion lands everywhere. As in real life, characters in a story also need to communicate and share otherwise there´s no relationship. I really liked the idea of finding a Prince Charming in a reality show, but to get married after a few weeks and get to know each other in a limited way and under totally artificial circumstances - no way!!! That´s one of the reasons that this story is so funny, some of the passages are hilarious! A really enjoyable reading!

I love the books by Janci Patterson and Megan Walker. If you are looking for a romance that has wit and charm with characters that you can't help but fall for, Chasing Prince Charming is one you must check out. With all the reality shows being the norm, this story seems plausible. While The Bachelor has been running for a while, Walker and Patterson take the well known genre and give it a fresh spin.
I won't go into any more details about the story. It is fun a have the story unfold and develop in front of you. It is a stand alone that ends happily. The banter of the couple is fresh and fun. The whole book feels light without being frivolous. Chasing Prince Charming is a great book to escape into anytime.
Thank you once again to the amazingly talented Megan Walker and Janci Patterson for sending us their next book in The Extra Series, Chasing Prince Charming! Seriously guys, these books are so much fun to read!!! This is book 13 in the series and I couldn’t put this one down either! Becca is a widowed single mother who has been chosen to be a contestant on the wildly popular reality show, Chasing Prince Charming. She is one of thirty women that will be vying for the attention of said Prince. Becca is scared of finding love again and holds a very close secret about her previous marriage that she vows to keep from the cameras. When Nate, the producer assigned to her, shows up for their first interview, sparks fly and we get to enjoy the journey!!! Honestly, I am SO FULL OF FEELINGS that I don't quite know what to do with them. Belting out "Let It Go!" at the top of my lungs sounds like a good option, actually - I think Rosie's onto something there!
Janci Patterson and Megan Walker have a knack for creating characters that are so easy to root for. By the end of chapter 1, I was thoroughly in like with all of them: Becca, Thea, Rosie, and Nate. By the end of the book, each one of them has managed to steal my heart in their own a special way.
One of my favorite scenes (of oh, so many) is when Thea and Nate have A TALK in chapter 14. That girl... <3
I can't wait to read more books by these two authors, and I'd LOVE to read more about a grown-up Thea - she's a force to be reckoned with!
I love reality TV and even more the behind-the-scenes action. This book takes you behind the scenes of a Bachelor-type reality show, focusing on one of the “princess” contestants trying to gain the eye of the “prince”. It has all the things we look for in a romance novel, so much so I read the whole book in one sitting. I really enjoyed Becca as a single mother on the show and her relationship with Nate the producer. It felt very real and organic, each with their own issues to work through, but of course getting their HEA. I also enjoyed the cameos from characters from previous books in the series (you do not need to have read them to enjoy this book). I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Thank you so much to Megan Walker for the free copy of this sweet sweet book!
I wasn’t sure about the set up of this story. I’ve read books with a dating show premise and have not been crazy about it, but I’m so glad I gave this one a chance! This was not your typical dating show book.
The chemistry between Nate and Becca was ridiculous. I loved reading another dual narration book. They were both so into each other and it was so cute/steamy.
I also didn’t know going into the book that it was an interracial couple. I loved that they talked about it, but it didn’t affect how they felt about each other. Love that representation.
I’ve read some books in this series, but I definitely need to check out more!
The story focuses on Nate Coleman and Becca Hale. Nate is the producer on a reality TV show called “Chasing Prince Charming”. Becca is one of the contestants to win the heart of her Prince. Nate is supposed to get her most hidden secrets to spill on camera to make the show more interesting to the audience. But he starts to really care for Becca. He wants her for his own and does not want to betray her secrets. Is Nate her actual Prince Charming who loves her? Or will he betray her confidence to gain ratings and break her heart?
I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. Nate is a producer on a reality dating show. Becca is trying to start over after being widowed. While these two hit it off, he is not supposed to be one of her choices. This creates some interesting moments between them. There are secrets, drama, humor, steam and finally love.

This is a stand alone book from The Extra series. As with all the books in this series, it’s a lot of fun with great, likeable characters. And if you have read the other books in the series, you do get a little update on some of the characters in previous books. I highly recommend the whole series as an enjoyable read!
Such a cute book. I’m not sure where I expected the book to go as this is a standalone, but it’s just as perfect as the rest of the books in the series. From the beginning I was not Nate’s biggest fan. I supported Becca and thought as a mom character she was written great. I won’t ruin the ending, but I agree with Becca when she says that she’s surprised. I highly recommend this book.
He is to ask questions of her and hope to find the juicy gossip about her to spice up the dating show. The more she confines in him the more he wants to be her Prince Charming. Will he tells his bosses what he has learnt? Will he keep it all to himself? How will it all go? See by reading

I received this Book and read it from the very beginning to the very end and really enjoyed it very much. I thought the character built up was cleverly written and I thought it was so fun to read about them in my opinon. The storyline made every thing come together so well in my opinion. I received this book thru an Advanced Review Copy, ARC, with an honest review freely given.
This book was really good and a great addition to the series. The series however is wildly inconsistent. Some of the books are interesting and creative and the characters are delightful (like this one). Others are boring or depressing. I like the world the authors are building but I wish they were all as good as this one or the first four books of the series.
I looooooooooooove this story Chasing Prince Charming . I love the characters and the story line .This book is funny and fun with a sweet romantic setting .
