Seven years ago, Pam Wilkins found a magic lamp in a pub toilet. Within this lamp was The Djinn, who would grant her six wishes. All Pam had to do to make her dreams come true was commit the most heinous, atrocious acts imaginable… Six wishes for six atrocities, those were the rules. Now, in 2021, it is Sophie Bridgewater’s turn to find the lamp. But Sophie isn’t like Pam. Sophie doesn’t like playing by the rules, and her insolence will not go unpunished. ‘The Order of The Djinn’ is as old as time itself, and meddling with it, disrespecting it, comes at great cost.Sophie will find herself in a race against time to break the age-old chain of events, this endless, vicious circle of evil... Sophie doesn’t want wealth, or beauty, or a glittering Hollywood career. Neither does she want the blood of innocents on her hands. She wants answers. She wants to put an end to the legacy of The Djinn.'Djinn II' can be read as a standalone story.(This story may contain scenes that some readers might find upsetting.)
Here we are again with the Djinn, but this time with a different victim, named Sophie. She has the same degrading missions like her predecessor (getting gangbanged, fucked in all orifices and so on). Will she defeat the evil monster in the end? Well, the second installment lacked the wit and novelty of the first volume. At parts it even was a bit tedious with all the disgusting and gross sex scenes (you don't want to read some nasty details twice, especially if there isn't too much variation). Also the ending was better in the first Djinn book. Overall a solid sequel but nothing extraordinary. You won't miss anything if you leave this one out. This is quite a gross book with rude sexuality at play and some disturbing screwing. Horror? I think it was rather porn. So be warned.
This book certainly lives up to the the tortuous turns that its predecessor, Djinn, took. Another unlucky person discovers the Djinn's evilly magic lamp and is put through exceedingly disgusting tasks in order to fulfill her six wishes. Author Sam West puts both the main character and the reader through a wringer of atrocities without missing a detail. While this book is grueling to read at times, there are twists that keep the reader cheering the protagonist on. If you are not a fan of extreme horror, this book might not be for you. Otherwise, rub the lamp and and get ready for what follows.
I greatly enjoyed Djinn—it was so immersive and memorable. When I discovered there was a sequel, I had to drop everything! Easily 5 stars, for sure. It is just as sick, depraved and twisted as the first book, and possibly more so! Full review to come.
The sequel might be better than the first. I love the way West weaves her fictional world into the story and even gives Jefferson Blake a shout-out. It didn't end like I expected, but was still happy with the outcome. The sex scenes seemed to drone on for a bit.. but that's horror right? The sex wasn't a bad thing. For some reason, I just wasn't in the mood lol (I type as I light a cigarette)
The first Djinn is hands down my favorite by this author. I even read it aloud to the husband so he could squirm and be completely uncomfortable as well. Seeing book 2 made my week, I couldn't download it quickly enough. Very briefly I wondered if it could live up to the first book. What was I thinking? Haha It does all that and then some. You don't have to read the first to enjoy the second but why deprive yourself?
Okay, all I have to say about this book is WTF. This book is really effing disgusting! But I also guess that’s what makes this book. I just don’t know how you can think up this shit (no pun intended)! I read the first novel (but you don’t have to in order to read the 2nd one) I enjoyed both books but I’m going to say I liked this one a little better except for the nasty parts (I had to skim through them, it was just getting silly). I really enjoyed Sophie’s character, I really felt for her. She was a good girl who had a good heart and wasn’t selfish or greedy. I’m giving this book 4 stars because I did like this book a lot! It was very interesting, I loved the concept I just have to dock a star because there were so many disgusting parts and I don’t think all of them were necessary (they basically took up half the book!) With that being said I hope there is a Djinn 3 (I’ve mentally prepared myself for it). Ps. I was really hoping for that bastard (not gonna say who, don’t wanna spoil it) to get tortured because he deserved it … maybe in the 3rd book? 😉
I was really excited to this this as Djinn - tied with Splatterpunks - is my favourite Sam West book. Happy to say it did not disappoint! In fact I think I liked this more than the first! And I loved the ending, which I actually didn't see coming.
Prior to the first chapter, the author states that this is a standalone novel not requiring reading the first book. I state this, since it's his wish, and maybe that will matter to someone researching this book.
Personally, I think reading the first book would make this a better experience, as there are some characters that come back around and comparisons that may make little sense without context. But, we start, as one may expect, with a person finding the standard "lamp" that contains a Djinn (i.e. Genie).
Sophie Bridgewater releases the Djinn and does something quite unexpected. When offered the ability to make any wish she simply declines and walks away. Didn't see that coming. Well, if you're familiar with the Djinns from the prior book, you may not be terribly surprised that the story doesn't end there.
Well, this Djinn doesn't simply grant wishes and provide basic housewife duties like Jeanie did on TV. No, here we have a total of 6 wishes to grant, but each wish requires a task to be performed. And here's where the reader needs to ask themselves if they are ready for what they'll encounter. Most of these tasks are quite degrading. Expect rape, torture, murder, and all types of bodily fluids described in graphic detail (and used for ...um...non-standard purposes). This is meant to be a degrading ordeal for Sophie and it will be the same for the reader if you choose to open the book.
I'd say I enjoyed this a little more than the first. Sophie is a more interesting character than Pam was in the original, at least in my opinion, so I was certainly rooting for her. Regarding criticisms, the "extreme" portions of the book can feel very repetitive. Perhaps this is meant to make the situation seem bleaker or more difficult to complete, but it's hard to not just glance over the text when something is to be repeated multiple times as part of a task.
Overall, though it has a great protagonist leading to a satisfying ending. Sam West did a noble job of creating a sequel that, while following the same pattern as the first, doesn't feel like a retread. If you've got the stomach, you can do a whole lot worse.
I absolutely loved this book, it was packed with excitement and intrigue. Full of the most awful and degrading tasks, and some shocking characters. Just as you thought things. Were going one way, bam it changed course and something else would happen. You couldn't predict, which kept it so exciting. Sophie the main character is amazing, so strong and yet so vulnerable. There are some very extreme parts which could offend some people whom maybe on the squeamish side, or easily offended. For you I'd either pass on the book or skip these parts. But what a shame for such a great read. I can't recommend enough. If you enjoy extreme and a full on packed adventure. Then this is one you don't want to miss.
This story could be read as a stand alone but I would not recommend that. Djinn II is the cycle of the Djinn but the women who found the lamp does not want to play, or wish for that matter. Can she break the ancient evil of the lamp and the Djinn that resides within?
