A good cop. A deadly adversary. A case of the highest profile.
When two security staffers for a local celebrity are gunned down in broad daylight, Miami Homicide Lieutenant Nash Harrington is on a mission for justice.
Unknown to the lieutenant, the murders of the woman’s security detail are just the beginning. The victims are collateral damage from a much bigger plan, and their deaths are simply a means to an end.
While in the spotlight of the press and local media, Harrington must put the pieces together and hunt down the man responsible for the murders, a tall task when the case provides far more questions than answers and the body count starts rising by the hour.

First, Lt. Kane. Then one of Kane's men gets a series. Then an FB I profiler. Now Harrington, a homicide detective for Miami PD, GETS to start a series. It's a good read, but disappointing, frankly. He has a wealth of characters, but all the cops seem two dimensional. The bad guy is.more.developed than many who are obviously going to recur. Like his boss. His partners (cop and personal).
I enjoyed the story but, having read most of his other work, I was left disappointed.
This book was a easy read, it wasn’t a thriller or mystery. There wasn’t any bad language or unwanted sex scenes, just a guy killing or having killed people he thought would get him to his end game. Harrington did all the telling of the story. Didn’t seem like there was any brain work in figuring out who did what, it all just fell together like an outline. This is an ok book, but I’ve read better by this author.
Loved it. The first I read in this series, and although I think it would have been nice to have read the previous ones first, I did not have the feeling that it was a must, I did not miss anything. Very good solid detective story - the reader knew who the murderer was, and was following the police, and especially Lieutenant Harrington and his team, finding clues and putting the puzzle pieces together. Good entertainment. I will definitely get the rest of this series.
Reinhard brings us another taunt drama. There are no twisted endings just dogged police work. The reader learns very soon who the killer is. What the reader must also learn is how Harrington will build his case, how he will come to know what the reader knows. Reinhard provides the reader with a nice ride. It’s a good read. Grabs your attention and keeps it through the entire novel.
I have come to expect excellence when reading E H Reinhard, I was not disappointed! Something draws me in and drags me through the story- every time. Wonderful story, and writing. Characters are just rounded enough to leave you satisfied, and I don't finish the book feeling like there are loose ends.
I found this book a little disappointing. From other reviews I see that he has written other series that have good reviews. However, this story was a little bland. You learnt a. little about Lt. Harrington's homelife, which then we hear no more about. As regards the killer it was their first and only suspect and the story just plodded along to its conclusion .
Harrington reminds me of Ben porter in False Assurances, Threat Bias and Subversive Addiction. A plodding type cop who gets the job done without being a retired Navy Seal.
This story shows the jealousy that can divide familie ins and make individual family members worth nothing. The brother talking about having his sister killed without remorse was so sad that life has come to tbat.
Seriously, if I had to read 1 more word about this car and its many problems I was going to smash my phone. I was excited to start the series because there were so many books, but the writing was boring, tedious, and pretty predictable. Disappointing.
The book kept an excellent pace, very as steady and prepared. It was able to give a complex view of both sides and layers. I really enjoyed it and will read more in the series.
E.H.Reinhard grips you from the first page. Great tale of greed, evil and totally self-absorbed killer. Finished at 2430, put it down twice to go to sleep but had to pick it up again.
Sometimes the reader thinks, "I might as well put this book down since I know how it will play out." Still she or he keeps reading and finds that the story line did have a few surprises after all.
A good twisting plot dulled by too much detail and Cross talk amount the various police characters. Caused me to skim the last portion of the story just to get to the ending.
Too much phatic dialogue and irrelevant detail. A procedural would work better if the killers' parallel situation were revealed by evidence/ testimony rather than some all-seeing nrration.
I like police procedural books and this one is as straightforward as can be. The plot is kind of far-fetched and so many names to remember but it captured my attention to the very end so a five star read. On to the next book.
Money has a way of making people do really stupid stuff, case in point. The horrendous murder is just the start. The book flows well, and everything ties together.
I'm amazed that this author can write so many fantastic novels, I hope that he never stops writing. His books are some of the best Entertainment I have read and worth the time to read them. Thank you for a very fun entertaining read.
As usual the author did a great job! I have enjoyed every one of his books and this was no exception. I read this in one sitting and can’t wait for the next one!
What a great book! Great writing to where you feel like you're there with the characters without boring you. Story line was interesting and it all comes together in the end.
I really enjoy how Reinhard builds the characters, even the bad guys, but when we know whodunnit after the first few chapters there’s not a lot of suspense or excitement left.
Enjoyable story with plenty of action, however the plot is weak. Would've liked more of a mystery, it was too predictable and the killer was revealed early on.
This was a quick read. It was also a pretty good read. I enjoyed the book and would have given it 4 stars but it moved so fast that it seemed unrealistic.
A good thrilling story written well so that the improbability of it actually happening is well disguised. Once the culprit was found, it was all tied up.
