“Murder at the Pumpkin Patch” is another good read in the Firefly Junction series. I can’t believe it’s been 12 books and yet the storylines continue to be fresh and engaging.
This time Edward, the resident ghost of Cedar Ridge Inn plays a big role in the plot. First and foremost, Sunni’s boy toy Detective Jackson has a day off and he wants to spend it with her. Unfortunately, he is none too keen on the idea of spending the day at the local pumpkin patch. With Sunni tow there is never a dull moment especially when she ferrets out that the owner of the farm has managed to keep his sister from inheriting a dime from the farm. However, leave to Sunni to find his body in the corn maze thus ending Detective Jackson’s day off.
Meanwhile Sunni’s good friend wants to bring a notable paranormal expect to look at the inn. While she is not happy about it she knows she needs to appease her friend. When the expert starts spouting some unrelated gibberish about the in Sunni and Edward think their secret is safe that is until he returns and informs them that he is very aware of Edward’s manifestations. Although he assures them he has no reason to reveal their secrets, can he be trusted?
Despite Sunni’s impeccable journalism skills, her boss continues to give her the fluff assignment but fans of this series know that is not about to keep her from investigating and/or revealing key suspects to Jackson. While her boss may not want her input that doesn’t mean Jackson doesn’t.
If you haven’t discovered London Lovett or her Firefly Junction series do yourself a favor and put this on the top of your ‘to read’ list.
