Vice President Leni Robredo is known for her kindness and compassion, helping the poorest of Filipinos all over the country.
This is the story of how she grew up to be the person she is -- from a child watching the dancing waters in Naga, to wife and mother, to lawyer and community organizer, to the second highest position in the nation.
Yvette Fernandez is the editor-in-chief of Town & Country magazine. She lived for many years in New York but is happy to be home with her family and her Peter in Manila.
Perfect time to read the book is during the moments of wanting to be selfish and to self-preserve. So many poison outside of our safe spaces but we need to go out and help, and treat people with kindness and compassion. Hays.
An inspiring story and a sad reminder of what we could have had. I recommend a guided reading experience of this book for younger kids since the way this was written sets this story up for important discussions.
What a beautiful children’s book. This is the kind of book I think parents and children should read together as it’s beautiful illustrated as well as written in a positive, uplifting manner. Even I as an adult enjoyed this book, I felt very positive after. ❤️
Beautiful illustrations, simple yet inspiring story for children. Let VP Leni write a memoir, please! I need to learn more about her life but this is a good start.
The illustrations are exquisite. The words are simple enough for Grade 3 students to read by themselves, but I think the book will appeal to children younger (and older!).
And most of all, it shares a very important reminder to all Filipinos: "Always, with kindness and compassion."
i hope other kids would read this book. there aren’t enough “thank you’s” that exist to describe how thankful i am for the contributions and service of the Robredo family. they are humble and always a call away when the people are in need. they surely will leave a legacy — they deserve every good thing that comes in their way ❤️
the book was simple and i hoped for a story more about what she did as a lawyer and a Vice President.
Vice President Leni Robredo is noted for her compassion and caring toward the poorest Filipinos around the country. This is her tale, from a youngster admiring the dancing waters of Naga to a wife and mother, to a lawyer and community activist, to the second highest position in the country. This novel serves as a stark reminder of what we could have right now.
