I’m a big fan of Conrad Jones and this book certainly solidifies why I will read ANYTHING he releases.

This is book #2 in the series following DI Alan Williams in one of his most gruesome cases to date. An elderly woman is brutally murdered in her own home and the ritualistic tendencies have the Anglesey PD shaken up. DI Williams and his team are lead to the home of a young recluse teenager, Mathew Hardman. Now hold on tight because this fast paced book will have you hooked! Without giving too much away - there is a string of violent murders all the while a turf war is breaking out in the Port of Holyhead. And for fans of Conrad’s previous novels you will love the reintroduction of the O9A. I loved this book and would highly recommend it to anyone. I can’t wait for the next one in the series.

Two crime sprees are underway in Anglesey to challenge DI Alan Williams and his team. A series of horrific murders points to a cult's presence on the island which eventually ensnares one of the police officers and sets off a race against time to protect one of their own. In another corner of the island a complicated drug transaction is being derailed by the presence of so many police officers.

Not for the squeamish, the body count is high and there is ritual murders involved. The pace is exceptional and the setting of the island provides interesting context.

Even better than Book 1!

This was a high octane story, a real page turner, and a book I could not put down until the final page. A disturbed teenager corrupted on-line by a satanic cult, progressing from paper boy to serial killer in just a few chapters. The story of drug gangs, Russian mobsters and deadly double cross as the parallel plot running alongside the main story. Talk about wild west Wales, there were more bodies here than in an episode of "Midsomer Murders". Highly recommended.

Fantastic

Each book brings even tenser terror, and certainly earns the term “I couldn’t put it down” you almost feel like the victim themselves. This book had me on edge the whole time wondering what diabolical means he’d use next. Now I’m going to read the next book if m nerves allow me.

A 90-year old woman, “weary of life,” but still minding her own business, is violently dispatched by someone close to her. The case has an occult slant. A body wrapped in plastic and wearing Adidas is found in an archaeological dig. Unscrupulous drug traffickers are using the port of Holyhead to move product and decide to start taking each other out to improve the playing field. DI Alan Williams and his understaffed team have their hands full investigating.

I thoroughly enjoy this series. The writing is tight, the settings well-described, the characters dimensional, and the crimes gritty, dark, and complicated. And as an added bonus, I get to learn about Anglesey, a place I’d like to visit. Watching Williams and his team untangle all the intertwined threads held my attention and made the time at the gym just whizz by. I will definitely read more in this series.

Book two in the DI Alan Williams series begins with the brutal assault and murder of a pensioner in her own home and it isn't long before the police have a suspect in their sights as well as pointers towards him being part of something bigger and much more sinister.
Unusually the baddie and the motives are revealed very early on with the reader and police able to concentrate on his capture and his very dark thoughts and it works brilliantly with plenty of surprises and shocks along the way.
There are some thoroughly evil and nasty characters in this story as well as another one running alongside and it rattles along as at a relentless pace. The descriptions of certain events and scenes are very bleak and graphic and I felt myself wince at one particularly scene!
Dark and graphic yet emotional at times and a great story about the depths people will stoop to in the name of power or money.

A Visit from the Devil Wow what a read this was. It was that good i had a couple late nights as i really couldn't put it down. Conrad Jones is a fabulous author and the way he has written this books makes you feels that it's happening right in front of you and takes you away from reality.

Format: audiobook
Narrator: Andy Cresswell

This is book two in this series and after enjoying book one I had to get this one.

A brutal killing of an elderly woman that looks ritualistic means the team will have to work hard if they’re to prevent any more killings.
As with the first book there’s plenty going on to keep the reader locked in.
A series I’m now definitely hooked on.

Great narration again from Andy Cresswell

Book 2 in the series. Notice the title says “Murders.” Definitely plural. It was troubling and I didn’t care for it that much.

The narrator was not the best. He didn’t read women’s voices very well. However, since this takes place in Wales, it was good to hear the pronunciations instead of skipping over the words if I had read it.

Still, I’d read another book by this author.

Another great story

Great writing that kept me gripped throughout. Fascinating to be able to visualise the locations. Really gets that right entwined with a twisting and hard hitting story with some scary coincidence.

Good detective book read

Characters carried over into this novel and it had surprising twists. Aside from bizarre behaviors it was a good detective story. Sometimes justice is served by the unjust.

Very disturbing!!

Although this author must have very savage thoughts, he is very clever with his unexpected twists and turns in this book!! I like the way he uses some real history and names of people he knows.

This dark vampire story is not for me

Perhaps due to my religious beliefs and training, I am unable to get very interested in this type of literature.

Quite a long story that evolves at goes. The drugs story seemed totally distant from the other, until the end. All the protagonists got what they deserved. Shame nobody was arrested and charged!

I know that if I pick up a Conrad Jones book I'm in for a thrilling read, and this one didn't disappoint. Once again DI Williams has a difficult case with ritualistic overtones to solve, with a serial killer on the loose on Anglesey. Running alongside this is a cocaine smuggling operation, and the two storylines come together spectacularly. Anyone who has read anything by Conrad will know to expect plenty of gore, and a high body count. This book, like all his others, is a breathtaking thrilling ride full of surprises. I can't wait to start the next in the series!

Unstoppable force !! Highly recommend !!

Another excellent book from Conrad Jones. People normally give away small snippets of the storyline but I don't. I believe if a book is highly recommended it's worth reading.
I guarantee if you are a lover of crime/thriller genre you will not be disappointed by reading The Anglesey Murders: A visit from the Devil.
Don't stop there check out other novels by Conrad Jones too !! #highlyrecommend *****

Not my usual type of thriller, but...

This one grabbed me and didn't let go! I read every chance I got and snuck it in when I shouldn't have. This was more of a horror book than a police procedural, but it was still captivating! And even though the next 2 books are of the same, I'm not going to stop from reading the rest of the series!!
