When the gods war, no one wins.

My three messengers took a greater risk than I realized when they agreed to help me save my village. Now they must face the consequences, and so must I.

If Kaius and Zelus go to war, it will devastate humanity... and that's not the only danger that lurks on the horizon.

But despite the threat to our existence, the bond between me and my soulkeepers continues to deepen into something far beyond what I ever expected.

I promised myself I wouldn't fall in love with these three beautiful, mysterious men.

I'm beginning to think it's too late for that.

Note: Defiance is the second book in the Her Soulkeepers series, a medium-burn reverse harem fantasy with steam, action, and romance that will melt your heart and your panties.

This book kicks off straight after the first book finished tugging at your heart strings instantly as Sage has to leave her family all over again.
Sage, Callum, Paris and Echo travel back to the realm that is ruled by the God Kaius only to have to flee for their lives - their relationships strengthen on a very deep emotional level through out the book as well as sexually and yes there is a good amount of heat in this the second book so definately not slow burn - or at least not as slow as some which is good as i dont think a reader could have taken the sexual tension much longer in these books.
The storey is very strong and original, the Characters are very well thought out, interesting, deep and some of course are very sexy. Sage blossoms and truly becomes who she is meant to be.
There are still a lot of questions to be answered such as how Sage can connect to the weave but i am sure they will develop in the next book.
This is a wonderful enthralling read which will capture your imagination and transport you with Sage into another realm. Love, Love, this storey and cant wait for the next installment.

Defiance by Sadie Moss is a medium-burn reverse harem fantasy romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Kasi Hollowell. This is the second book in the Her Soulkeepers series.

I absolutely love Sadie's books! She does an amazing job pulling me into the story and I can't help but binge them in one sitting. I really enjoyed the relationship between Sage, Callum, Echo, and Paris. I loved how the relationship keeps building as the series continues.

The book ends on an great cliffhanger. I can't wait to dive into the final book in the series Ascension.

Kasi did a great job on the narration. She really knows how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of her work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you like reverse harem romances fantasy romance, or romantic suspense.

Decent

I an really enjoying the way the fantasy wraps around this Slow burn RH. The world is unique, the characters compelling and the situation is far from normal. Interested to see where this goes in book 3!

MMMF, Fantasy, Cliffhanger, Slow burn RH
Rating = R to mature
Character age range = adult
First person, single POV

Pros:
- World building
- The landscape is lush, not in actuality but in description
- How The Bob’s is forming

Cons:
- Felt short
- would benefit from multiple POV

I think Sage might be my favourite female mc created by Sadie Moss. She's smart, strong and capable. She doesn't let emotion blind her except on a couple of occasions where she's reached breaking point. I love the world this is set in as it is so varied

Original review

This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Sadie Moss!

Defiance
is the second book in the Her Soulkeepers series and tells the story of Sage and her three men, Callum, Echo and Paris.

Defiance was such a good and fast paced read and I didn’t expect anything else from Sadie Moss. She just kills it every time! The story is so interesting and you want to know what happens to the character and how the book is going to end.

As I mentioned in my previous review, I really love the characters of the Her Soulkeepers series. Sage is such a strong character and I love reading about her and her three men. And as for the men, I love all of them. They’re just so hard to resist! I think I have a favourite, Callum, because he changed a lot in Defianceand he opened up about his feelings.

Defiance was such an amazing sequel and I cannot wait for the third book, Ascension! I’m kinda sad that the next book will be the last book in the series, but I’m also excited! I cannot wait to read what will happen to Sage and her three men!

ONE PAGE FLIPPING EXTRAVAGANZA!!!
Phenomenal! Sadie blasts onto the scene with one unforgettable, block busting, mind-blowing, spectacular spin, busting this baby wide open. Riding roughshod and calling the shots, knocking this gem into overdrive, clinching tight and running full throttle, thrusting this bad boy into a tailspin with an unbelievable culmination. Intense drama, mystifying intrigue and electrifying suspense, rules the roost, melding this baby together flawlessly. Seizing the moment, traversing the trials and tribulations, along with shocking twists, sleek corners and tricky lines, tempting our characters in ways they never saw coming. The undeniable attraction and intense chemistry sizzles as each layer is peeled back exposing a deep connection and amplifying affections, binding them to one another beautifully. The characters with 100% realism balance and blend into amazing personalities. The scenes are so vividly detailed it gives the illusion you were right there in the middle of ground zero with them. Remarkable job Sadie, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.

The truth about the gods is revealed in this 2nd book. It's interesting to see how the gods treat their worshippers and what they truly care about in the grand scheme of things. Although the gods are disappointing, the main characters are not. They grow even more on you in this book. As a character, Sage flourishes, from a meek hunter to a fierce warrior, something Sage always hoped she would be. Her determination is incomparable despite her fear, and she readily focuses on her new skills in fighting and expanding on her abilities with the weave. Relationships deepen between Sage, Callum, Paris, and Echo as they become a true team and trust in one another. We are shown different sides to each guy and learn more about the pain they've experienced. It's now easy to understand why Callum was fighting his link to Sage so much in the previous book. I'm eager to see how things will turn out in the next book!

I am loving this series so much! Sage and her men Callum, Echo and Paris find themselves in a difficult position early on in this book. I will not say what because I don't want to give anything away but it leads to them being on the run. I loved seeing their relationships grow and watch as they begin to trust each other completely. The four decide to stop running and fight back... against the gods. The ending is cliff-hanger-ish. It absolutely makes me want the next book right now!

Sadie Moss knows how to write a story that is full of action and also have time for relationship development. I think the balance here is perfect. Not for a single moment was I bored with this story. I can't wait to see how the Sage will save the day in the next book.

I received this audiobook from the author.

I tolerated it in the first book since the world building was intriguing and I wanted to see what happens. The author should've just made this a Callum and Sage book coz Echo and Paris seem to be an afterthought in the relationship side. It's like it's a given they'll be in it so they're unimportant and everytime they even kiss her, Callum show up to disturb it.

I'm a bit sick and tired of the moody, misunderstood dominant guy who treats the heroine like crap and she's too innocent naive or something to stop herself from mooning over him and craving his approval. And she's supposed to be a strong female. I actually thought her moment with Echo would go somewhere but no. She had to confess her feelings and everyone had to wait for Callum's reaction and the other two were pretty much bystanders while Callum was having his way with her.

So uuuhhhhhhhhhhhh

Oh man this book was intense. Sheesh, what a journey. So as you know Sage made the ultimate sacrifice in book one. However, it did not go as plan and she ended up meeting Callum, Echo and Paris. So she is in the afterworld with the guys and manages to make it back to earth to save her family. Only to get called back by Kaius and it is not looking good. So what happens? I will say that the messengers get an awakening and see what is really happening. Sage gets closer to the guys and finds out why they are so hot and cold with her. There is some fighting going on that gets a bit scary. Can they save themselves or be doomed to their fate Kaius has for them. Get ready for a crazy ride. I cannot wait for the next book.

Defiance starts off where Sacrifice left us. It gives Sage a chance to tell her family goodbye and begin on her journey to figure out what is happening with her Messengers.

Many twists and turns are in this book and things we thought we knew and understood are not as they seem. We get to see more interaction and in depth feelings from Sage and her men. This book also contains a lot more action then the previous book which allows the book to flow very well.

This book ends in a cliffhanger that has you on the edge of your seat and dying to read the next novel. This is definitely a book for people who are looking for a different concept than they usually read and really enjoy a lot of twists and turns.

Defiance is the second installment in the Her Soulkeepers series, and this one read like an old school fantasy adventure book. It picks up immediately after the events of Sacrifice. When a war between Gods send Sage and her men on a quest to save humanity, they discover more secrets about the worlds they inhabit, and their place on them.
I love Sage and her fierce loyalty to those she loves. Her empathy and sense of morality just pull you in, and you really want her to succeed and have all the good things. Callum, Paris and Echo continue to grow and evolve, and they are all so seriously swoony.
Can’t wait for the conclusion, it’s sure to be epic!

I am astonished

This book was absolutely amazing. I read through this book in less than a day. I would like to start out by saying that I am thrilled at how much happens in this book. I do not want to spoil anything. Echo, Callum, and Paris go through hurdles to help Sage accomplish every goal she sets out on. I found there characters to progress in a natural way that makes sense. I was able to really connect with each of them and fell so hard for all of them. Sadie found a way to make me care so deeply about all of them. I am giving this book 5 stars because the story line was carried out in a way that I NEEDED to know what happened next. Also, the guys are absolutely hot and the scenes with them are incredibly sexy.

*Spoiler Alert*
After the God Kaius has his mind set on extinguishing Sage (FMC) in this book. Sage and her messengers - Callum, Paris and Echo go on the run trying to evade capture as they seek sanctuary/help but circumstances change and they have to find a different way to defeat Kaius. Loving how the relationship is building and getting closer between Sage, Callum, Paris and Echo. Yes its more sexual but its also more caring and respectful. I really like this side of the guys that you didnt see in book 1. This series is starting to pick up pace now and its a fantastic read

Sadie is one hell of a story teller. Sage is an amazing MC that is strong, yet also vulnerable. This second book picked up where book one finished and boy did it take me on an adventure. The men were fantastic counterparts for sage in this book.and I loved that we got some answers to the questions in book one. Beautifully written in a world of gods and worshippers and how life isn't as simple as it seems. Loved Sadie's work, always have, and this book was a huge hit for.me! Fantasy romance for the win.

Amazing series!

First off i am horrible at writing anything, even reviews. But i have read most of Sadie Moss's series and I have loved them all. This book is no exception. I started this series last night and just got finished with book 2, it keeps you engrained in the story. All three messengers are different, but each have their own unique qualities that pulls Sage in. The plot and the story line are great, keep you reading and not able to put the book down. Im sad i have to now wait 2 more days for book 3, but owell. :)

This book returns us to the moment where Sage has to explain to her family that she can't stay, and so the emotional roller-coaster continues as Sage and her messengers return to Caius only to have to run for the lives. Sage has set into motion a war between Caius and Zealous by begging her messengers to intervene on her behalf, thrusting the and humanity into danger. I loved this book, Sage is pushed from one emotionally charged situation to another, while she and her messengers grow closer, the drama and intrigue increase keeping you on the edge of your seat.

This book picks right up after the end of the last one, which was good because it didn't add unnecessary confusion. I did like this one a little more than the first only because we get more of an in-depth look at our characters and they are thawing more towards each other compared to the first book. I really love this world, it's probably my favorite part of this series, it kinda seems like it's own character at times especially when they are in the unclaimed areas or using the weave. Overall this was a good book and I am enjoying the series and this, it just won't be one of my favorites.

Great sequel. Still not a fan of novels written in present tense, other than that good read.
I enjoyed seeing the progression and development in each of the characters. To see Sage grow from a hunter to a warrior and watch her slowly adapt to this new world. Nice to see the guys open up a little, become more approachable. Though I still find myself wishing for more of a backstory for them, to find out more about all these secrets they keep hinting at.
I guess, I'll have to wait and see what the last book holds.

Omg what an epic book. In this book we get to see what happens after they where called back by Kaius. With so many twists and turns and unexpected alliances and help from a friend. We see them travel to another gods realm, to ask for help and safe passage. All while we see the relationships between the characters grow so much closer and with so much love and steamy action. All to end on a crazy cliff hanger ending which leaves you with hope Sage will succeed in over coming.

Wow! Defiance by Sadie Moss picks up right after Sacrifice and is a non stop fantastic ride. With a deepening relationship with all three of her men Sage comes more into her own and demonstrates again how strong and dynamic she is. I love all three of her distinctly different men and very much enjoyed getting to know them better. Fantastic second book in what is becoming one of my favorite series!!

This is an amazing read, that once you start you will not be able to put down. It moves along at a great reading speed making for a comfortable read, has interesting characters that you want to know more about and a story that will keep you reading from the moment that you start reading till the moment you read the last word, and then you are wanting more. This is a must read, no doubt about it.

Sage is AMAZING! Sadie jumps right into the story, right where book 1 left us. It felt a little different than the first book, more like old-school fantasy books than some I've read in recent years. Defiance delves into the connection between worshipers, gods, and life in such a way that sucks you in immediately. Sage is right up there with my favorite FMC's ever and I can only hope others pick up Sadie Moss' books too!

Every time I get the email that another one of Sadie's books will be released, a surge of adrenaline rushes through me. It is because I know I will go in another adventure alongside a strong, determined heroine.

In this book, Sage and her Soul keepers face obstacles, learn hard truths and discover themselves. They fight for their lives, for freedom.

In a word, it was incredible.

Their lives get turned upside down and they are confronted with harsh realities but their relationship continues to grow and they realise that they are stronger together. Couldn’t put it down. Can’t wait for the next book.

I was given a ARC copy of this book and am offering my very honest review

I really enjoyed this book. I had no idea how badly I was missing Sage, Callum, Paris and Echo until I started reading this book. It was heartwarming to see how much closer Sage and her men got in this book. Sometimes without even meaning to. I am craving the last book so much! I have to know how it ends!

I didn’t think it was possible to love Sage and her Messengers more, but Sadie proved me wrong. This book shows Sage truly reaching another level in her evolution as they all grow and learn more about each other, themselves and the world around them. This one ramps up the tension as it races to a cliffhanger that will leave you cursing. Book three can’t get here soon enough.
