Corruption is the Price of Balance, and Realms are Crumbling…

Our story begins long after a monster crossed through an open portal – a human filled with greed. His presence wreaked havoc on two lives and left behind a dire war. Now the world is stained and hearts are filled with hatred, fear, and vengeance against one another.

Only one girl can travel through the portal, and she must journey to the human realm in an attempt to set things right. Alistaria, the daughter of arrogance, must challenge Lord Radviken, the man who stole away balance.

Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America - Full Member
Winner - 2021 Independent Press Awards
Finalist - 2021 International Book Awards

T.B. Phillips debuted in 2019 with his award winning series Dreamers of Andalon, a cautionary fantasy adventure taking place twelve hundred years in our future and set in the age of sail. He has been lauded for his skillfully choreographed sea battles and action sequences, painting a vibrant picture of detail directly into the reader's mind.

He is a former sailor and educator. He served the United States Navy as a Chief Cryptologic Technician and Analyst, living out his own adventures while learning about the world. Many of characters are a sum of the people he met and interacted with during his travels, as evidenced by the comradery displayed in his novels. He retired from active duty in 2008 and taught English and History before becoming a public school principal.

He began his novelist journey after a challenge by his children. As a single father he worked hard to encourage literacy and interest in the arts, and he and his children read and discussed books of all genres throughout the years.

T.B. Phillips is originally from Wichita Falls, TX and resides in Fort Worth, TX with his beautiful wife (and super-intelligent marketing manager) and their blended family of six children.

He humbly thanks you for finding his work entertaining, and hopes to do so for many years to come!

Wow, a lot of stuff going on! I took my time reading Blossom of the Fae so that I could pick up on all of the intricate details. As I progressed through the book, I was glad that I stepped back a couple of times to make sure I was keeping up with everything. So many questions came up along the way that piqued my interest. I love stories where there are multiple threads, and the author did a great job of jumping back and forth between storylines, while supplying enough detail to cover all of the things going on in multiple realms. The diversity of characters also kept my interest; some evil, some pure, and some really, funny. I enjoyed how the book also reflected some of the real world, with beings from the various realms each having their own takes on history, where each version may not quite be the truth and sometimes a straight up lie to hide the guilt of past crimes. The author does an outstanding job of bringing it all together with a surprise ending where everything falls together and makes sense. A good mix of mystery, fantasy, and mythology!

Interesting take on Irish fairytales

The story is full of fanciful ideas. There is action and adventure and unusual creatures throughout. Liked the development of the story. It is a very rich world the author creates. For the first book of the series there are an awful lot of names and faces and motivations to keep in mind. I saw the world building strength as a plus. I could have done with a little less characters to concentrate on in this debut to the series, but it was a fun story and read. There is a complex story here and it is a fun read. Once you give in to the fantasy of the story there is a good mystic story here. Nice to see a strong female character. Liked the attempt to be inclusive. Appreciated the complexity of the story and twists.

***** Author Note *****
As an author I do not rate or review my own work, rather use this space to communicate with readers.

9/15/2021 "Howling Shadow" is here, and in celebration, "Wailing Tempest is currently available for $.99 on all ebook platforms.

6/17/2021 A small bit of pronunciation and explanation of Fae races was added to the beginning of the kindle version. This will be available this evening to update under your digital content tab in your Amazon profile. It will also be immediately available in all future purchases.

4/25/2021 I decided to roll the release of Wailing Tempest forward following the announcement Andalon Awakens had won the 2021 Independent Press Awards.

After sadness and stress took over our world in 2020, I decided to pen an adventure worthy of hope, acceptance, diversity and fun while bringing a kind message people would like to read. As a result I built this world and wrote this manuscript in only seven weeks. From start to finish, we published this novel in ten weeks - but I truly feel it is my best work to date. More exciting, is I've so much more of this world to bring in future installments of the Blossom of the Fae series.

It is a different kind of fantasy adventure than I've written before, and is one I hope you will find both fascinating and fun. There are laughs, gasps, and palpitations of the heart within the cover of this, my fourth novel, all of which I believe you will enjoy.

Please find it, read it, and share with me your thoughts here on Goodreads. I am truly excited to read your reviews.

This is a good piece of storytelling, well suited to YA audiences (including adults who still enjoy YA). While it does make a social statement, it keeps the story line in the focus supported by the issue at heart. The juxtaposition of settings isn't entirely unique but was pleasantly refreshing.

Unfortunately, my edition (printed July 2021) was plagued by typographical errors. It needed another round of editing to catch the misplaced quotation marks and inappropriate pronouns. These things pulled me out of the story while I sorted them out, so the storytelling wasn't smooth.

I also didn't feel attached to the characters enough to be anticipating the next novel. The world itself and the system of magic are intriguing, though, so I am interested to see how they develop.

This was a beautiful fun twist on fairy tales. Another strong female lead character by T.B. Phillips he really weaves a great storyline with action and drama. Enjoyed the interaction between realms and the differences it brought. Amazed at how well the characters really each had their own personality and storyline. Love how the author adds humor to some scenes at just the right or wrong moment changing thr mood. Wonderful read and definitely can not wait for more from this series. Definitely was ready for more and can't wait for thr second book.. Hopefully we can all have a little bit of "Lucky" in our lives

I got an ARC via Reedsy Discovery where my original review is located.
I enjoyed reading this book. It's a fantastic fantasy novel based on fae and magic. I think fantasy lovers will really like this one. Looking forward to more books in this series.
I do wish there was a pronunciation guide and a longer glossary in the book. Hopefully there will be one in the other books.

Do you believe in magic?

This fed my hungry imagination! Nasturia had deep secrets, Asturias never knew her mother’s journal held. I was overwhelmed by an unlikely reunion, but served the purpose of Astauria finding out the truth
