Wrecked

Rate this book
Fighting is my life. All I’ve known for the past few years is the sensation of using my fists to subdue my opponents. I’ve known pain, too. Enough for a lifetime. I’m paying off a debt, one that was never mine, to begin with. But it’s mine now, and I won’t let my family down. I fight, and I’ll keep fighting, no matter the cost.
Until she’s thrown into my arms. A princess who shouldn’t be in this violent, vicious world I inhabit. I’m supposed to wreck her, this innocent beauty who makes me feel things other than pain. Other than anger. In fact, she makes me weak, because when I look at her, I imagine a world outside my cage.
A woman like Petal was never meant to be mine. Not in this life. I was ordered to hurt her in countless ways. But once I get a taste of her, turns out I’m the one who’s wrecked. Utterly, completely destroyed by love.

MINK's Note: Get yourself a feisty kitty and a pinch of caffeine for this fight for love with an HEA.

Wrecked de MINK

Argumento:

MINK certainly brings the laughter with this one. She also wrecked me the title suggests! Petal is sweet and innocent, after being kidnapped she’s bright to Solomon our lead. His job? To wreck her. But one look at this vision before him he knows without a doubt that will never happen.
Oh he’ll wreck her in the most delicious way.
Expect the unexpected. It’s MINK so it’s a given.
I eagerly await each release, there fun sexy reads.
It’s a yes from me!

A little bit dark for Mink's usual style, but in general it was good and enjoyable , epilogue was naughty and funny with them playing hide and seek with their kids.
Note:There is gun violence and killing people

Petal & Solomon’s unique love story 𝙬𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙠𝙚𝙙 my ability to do anything other than binge read this entire book in one sitting! Do I regret it? Absolutely not!

The way both Solomon and Petal met was not your average cutesy love at first sight, but an intense first encounter where we saw the two characters feel their lives shift after having the lucky chance of crossing paths. I loved that Petal literally transformed in to a beautiful commanding woman in this story, while Solomon woke up and decided to take control of his life and save his soul mate in the process. 𝙒𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙠𝙚𝙙 was a wild ride, safe, sweet, and full of action that made the story go by too quickly!

Very entertaining, good story that kept on giving and my very first Mink book 🙄. It was exactly what I needed to lighten my reading and found it surprisingly good. If I insta-love is your thing, with a hint of suspense and danger till the end, then grab a copy and enjoy!

The couple: Solomon and Petal

Romance genre: insta-love; mafia-lite
Part of a series: no
Length: 129 pages

Plot: Solomon is stuck as a underground fighter for a sleazy mob boss. He's fighting to repay a debt so that his mom won't be hurt. After a fight one night, his "employer" gifts him a girl that he's kidnapped, Petal, with the instructions that he is to "wreck" her. This isn't something Solomon usually does, and the minute he sees Petal he knows he should be protecting her. He holds the mafia thugs off for a while, but then the puppet master shows up at Solomon's room: . Now Solomon knows that he has to get them both out of there, and save his mom, and warn Petal's dad. No problem.

Character development: I definitely wondered who Solomon was before he started fighting to pay off the debt. It sounds like he was in that mafia world, maybe on the periphery, and in a fancy college. Was he already training to fight? Or was he a weak frat boy? I'm wondering about that transition. Speaking of his past, his mom was great. I wonder about her transition too, because in current times, she's a bada$$. Petal was a typical Mink heroine, cluelessly naïve and ridiculously sheltered. Still, Solomon had a need to take care of people, it seems, so that worked out perfectly.

Would I read more from this author/in this series: Yes

Pretty steamy sex scenes.
Good chemistry between couple

There were several plot points that made no sense. Some of the fight scenes were ridiculous.

Solomon is in debt to a mob boss because of his father, he fights in underground matches to protect his mother. One day he is given Petal and told to wreck her. Petal is a rival mob bosses daughter, she has been sheltered her whole life and is very innocent. She’s scared but feels safe with Solomon. He can’t wreck his princess, he must protect her. Drama with a family member betraying her and her beloved father, Solomon going to mother, who is no longer a pampered woman, she is strong, smart, and dangerous. They all go to tell Petal’s father the truth and root out the bad guys. In true mob fashion there is a gun battle, hero is hurt and Petal helps save the day. Epilogue with them married with kids.

Loved this short and steamy read! Had me hooked from the beginning and I couldn’t help but root for them to get the love they deserved. Solomon is such a hardened man and to find out that he is this way because he was forced into fighting to save his mother just hurt my heart, this man lost so much when his father died.
Petal was just so sweet and loving and while she was naïve, she learned that the world isn’t always as you thought it was. I really felt for her in that sense, being sheltered from the world and then not only getting lost in it but being thrown into a situation that could have been bad for her.
I knew they were perfect for each other when Solomon told her what he was supposed to do to her but that he didn’t want to hurt her. He came up with a plan for the time being to keep her safe and the fact that she didn’t try to fight him on it really helped her situation out for the better. I’m glad she listened to him and then not only did she listen to him she discovered how much she could trust him. Right there is where their relationship started to build, with their trust in a horrible situation.
Loved how they fought for each other too. Showing up at her fathers and he was ready to take some heads for Petal, but then she showed everyone that she wasn’t living in fear and that she wanted Solomon and no one else. Solomon standing by her and letting her know that he wouldn’t have let anything or anyone stop him from getting to her and he certainly proved that with how many times he took down her fathers men before he finally barged into the house after her. That was hot.
There at the end though, I was a slightly worried that Solomon wouldn’t be making it out. He took that hit trying to protect Petal and I wasn’t ready for her to lose him and if I’m being honest, I wasn’t ready to lose him yet lol. Loved the epilogue too, that really sealed it all up for me. I like to know what happens to my characters after their book ends and to find out that their love was just as strong as ever was beautiful.
I always love a good read by Mink, and I can’t wait to read more!

Wrecked

HERO /HEROINE Solomon’s father died with a lot of debt to a lot of dangerous men. To take care of his mother Solomon gave his body and fists to the man they owed the most to. Now he fights like an animal and is controlled like an animal. All to protect his mother.
Petal grew up with a home with a father who cared about his money and work and a mother who nitpicks everything about her. She dreamed of escape and before she could have ever done so, she was kidnapped.

REPRESENTATION

OVERALL THOUGHTS A cutesy novella by Mink that was a decent read. Def not one of my favorites.

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE I didn't like the couple. But I didn't like where the author took this story the most. I wish it ended differently. And the ending of some chapters did not match the beginning of the next chapter. The flow of the story was off.

FAVORITE QUOTES:
“Married?”
He cups my cheek and leans into me. “Yeah married. I’m going to give you it all. Marriage, babies, kittens, and everything in between.”
“Kittens?” I grin big. “Okay. I’ll marry you.”

SAFETY

AGE: Petal is 20 I don’t know how old Solomon is.

SEXUAL HISTORY: Petal is a virgin. Solomon is not but the author does not discuss his history.

CONDOMS: No

HEAT LEVEL: 3 /5 pretty average sex tbh

PUSH/PULL: nope

SEPARATION: nope

CHEATING: no

OW (Other Woman)/OM (Other Man) drama: no

SEX SCENE WITH OW/OM: no

ABUSE: parental neglect, parental abuse, kidnapping, mention/threatening of rape/sexual assault

POSSIBLE PET PEEVES/TRIGGERS parental neglect, parental abuse, kidnapping, mention/threatening of rape/sexual assault

HEA/HFN: HEA

I could go on and on and on about all the things wrong with this book but I do realize that the point of it wasn't portraying some healthy relationship or character development (or it was a really bad shot at it with all those constant reminders how Petal has changed and Solomon has become better as he always was deep inside because of her).

I could say how absolutely bizarre the characters are portrayed because Petal is written for the male gaze with her innocence, virginity and naivety and him written for the female gaze as protector and understanding partner (or at least I guess the author was going for that because there was no conflict from which to grow in their relationship).

I could say all this and so much more but as I'm aware that the book is meant to be short, spicy and sweet (???) I'll keep the reasons why I didn't like it short too:

It was full of clichés and painfully unoriginal. As if every romance novel trope and "sweet" phrase was put in a program to randomly generate a novel and what came out was Wrecked by MINK.

I haven't read anything else by author so of course my opinion doesn't concern all their work and judging from the other reviews Wrecked seems to fall short of their other novels so one day I might give them a shot, but certainly not in the near future.

A sweet but kindof dark instalove story about Solomon - the underground fighter - and Petal - the kidnapped mafia princess.

Solomon has been living in some basement type living quarters while being forced to fight in underground cage fights for 2 years, since his dad died leaving massive debts to 'Evil Mob Boss' (not really his name, but close enough). Petal is the daughter of 'Decent Mob Boss;' she gets kidnapped while she's out shopping with her stepmother. She's brought to Solomon to be "ruined" so she can then be returned to her father for a hefty ransom (but as spoiled goods). Solomon won't hurt her, and he swears to protect her until he can get her out of the Evil Mob Boss compound. They find out the stepmother Nicolette was behind the whole thing - she wants Petal out of the way and given to some Evil Mob Henchman to solidify the partnership she wants when she takes over the Decent Mob Boss enterprise - but yeah Nicolette's plans don't work out. Solomon and Petal they make their daring escape and they go pick up Solomon's mom and head over to Decent Mob Boss' compound aka Petal's home. They confirm her dad knew nothing about what was going on, and they all team up against the stepmother and the Evil Mob Boss' guys, so in the end Solomon and Petal get their HEA... and there may be something brewing between Solomon's mom and Petal's dad too lol.

No strong representations of diverse characters or minority identities.

Overall: 2-stars

Soooooo, the Heroine is abducted with the purpose of being held for ransom to undermine her mafia-King-father. The Bad Guy decides while setting the ransom demand in motion, to give her to his prized fighter (the Hero who is paying off debt)... intending for the Heroine to get beat up and "wrecked" (read: r@ped). Therefore, knowing what "wrecked" stands for in the premise to Wrecked, the title irks me. Also, the fact the Heroine uses "wrecked" as dirty talk was disconcerting (especially considering how naive she was).

Loved the Hero's mom though!

This little story brings a mix of hot and dark.

The girl is a bundle of sweet innocence who ends up in the hands of a beast of a fighter under the command of an evil man. When she is thrust into his lair, the most adorable thing happens. He wants to protect her at all costs and even respect her, but of course some alluring moments still take place under the bed sheets.

There are some mafia feuds at large, a plan to wreck a girl and maybe prompt a power play, and lots of heated glances (other things get hot, too). At first, despair engulfs the mismatched couple, but soon things get twisted with bloody fights, daring escapes, heroic females, and crazy vendettas. It's really a festival of love and action. Solomon and Petal are wonderful names, both characters really sweet in their own ways with a heart of iron when it comes to defending their loved ones.

I had a lot of fun, and I thought the ending was so cute with that particular family scene <3 .

Wrecked is the story of Solomon and Petal.

Solomon is paying for his father's debt by fighting for Vasili the man his father owed money. Petal is kidnapped by her supposed mother and brought to his room for him to break her in for her future husband. They both take an attraction to each other but it never leads anywhere until about 2 days after he has another fight and she has to be in the crow to watch him fight a 300-pound Ludwig. He knocks him out while Petal is being abused by her future husband Ricardo and with that, they make their escape. He goes back to his mom and picks her up and claims her right there. Just to say his mom Gilda is a badass. Like guns and everything. Turns out Petal is too. She goes back to her father Carlo and he is surprised but also relieved at most and he takes an interest in Gilda. I want their story so badly. Anyways her mother comes back and they kill her and her allies. Anyways this had a HEA with spice.

Solid 4/5

I loved this story. It was entertaining and enjoyable while being mafia lite. The characters were interesting. A few of the characters were very likable but most of them were jerks. Soloman was self-sacrificing, determined, and controlled. He was protective, possessive, and sweet. Fighting became Solomon's life to pay off a debt that wasn't his but kept those he cared about safe. After winning his latest fight he was given a "treat" that he soon discovered was the sweet and innocent Petal. Petal had been protected her whole life. She was sheltered, kind, and caring. Petal was startled when she met Solomon but soon felt safe with him. Solomon wanted to protect Petal from everyone including himself. After a surprise, Solomon and Petal grow closer only to be pulled apart temporarily by others. Their happy ever after made me smile. I recommend reading this book.

Wrecked is your typical MINK story.
Naïve, innocent, virgin heroine
Alpha, over protective, dirty talking hero

Honestly, overall the story is cute. However, I really wanted to know more about Solomon and the debt that he was fighting to pay off. He talks about how he grew up with money and would've typically been at a party that maybe Petal might have attended. So what kind of debt would a man like his father need?
I also just can't get over the fact that Carlo (Petal's dad) didn't instill such loyalty in his men that they would screw his wife or not mention the fact that she was treating Petal the way she was. If this is the case with how his men are then it's a wonder that he's lasted on the top as long as he has.

Excellent read.

Solomon has been fighting in the underground in order to pay off his father's old debt. When he wins his most recent fight Vasili says he has a surprise for him. Petal is the sweet innocent virgin daughter of Carlo Callisto and has been given to Solomon so he can wreck her before she is returned to her father. Solomon can't bring himself to hurt the beautiful Petal, so he does what he can to make it look like he did and now he needs to figure a way out for both of them. This is a great read and I highly recommend it!

Wow! It’s so hard to choose but this may take the cake as my new favorite Mink book! I just loved everything about it. My heart broke for Solomon just trying to do the right thing and protect his mom but when he meets Petal he knows he would do anything for her. And petal was so innocent yet so funny and fierce at the same time. Gosh I just loved it. Nothing better than an alpha fighter and the woman who makes him melt!

A battered warrior, the sheltered daughter of a mafia kingpin and betrayal. A trapped man finding the love of his life. A princess finding love and the strength to fight. Solomon and Petal are classic Mink characters, more than what they seem. The road to their happiness is filled with obstacles and Solomon knocks down every one. Petal breaks out of her shell and manages to surprise herself with the fierce woman she has had within her all along. So entertaining and sweet, I loved it!

I though that this book was awesome! I loved Petal and Solomon together! I loved the connection and chemistry between these two. There is a lot of steam, drama, love, betrayal, action and a wonderful HEA. I couldn't put this book down! I can't wait for more from Ms. Mink. I would highly recommend this book and Ms. Mink as an awesome author.

Sweet Story by One of My Favorite Authors!

MINK is always a One-Click for me, and this story didn't disappoint. I love the OTT emotions MINK's characters exhibit. MINK's stories are a wonderful retreat from the everyday chaos. Petal and Solomon are wonderful together. She's light and he's dark, but together, they shine beautifully. Solomon is a protector and always protects what's his. Watching their story unfold was wonderful and the epilogue was even sweeter!

Perfect🥰

Solomon and Petal are adorable. Big protective Alpha and sweet innocent, slightly clueless mafia princess. Her mom is the devil and his mom is a badass🤣 I would've liked him to state, even in thought, that he never hooked up with that sleazy skank. I don't think he did, but not sure, it should have been said somehow. Everything else was perfection. Another MINK success 😻

This story was awesome.😍😍😍😍 It was a bit darker and grittier than the usual but really really good. I loved how brutish and hard Solomon was with everybody but his Petal. It was insta love in a bad situation. They both had to fight to get their HEA. The dark hard underworld and cagefighter theme was interesting and the storyline was surprising and well written. This story was dark, sweet, romantic, steamy as heck and safe as well. 😍😍😍Really enjoyed that story👍👍👍👍
