Okay so I was glad to learn more about the mysterious summer lord and to learn he is a person after all! Freya of course comes even more into herself once more, our goblin king is as wonderful and charming as ever, and complicated *swoons* I actually cried this go around several different times, once out of happiness and a few times was because of how deeply I identify with Freya's internal struggles, anyway the end is just so lovely it could of wrapped up here and if there wouldn't have already been 5 books announced you would think it was going to and then....BAM! Look if you have made it this far I can not stress enough how wonderful these books are shaping up to be, you definitely must continue them, our wonderful author builds such an exciting and beautiful world that it makes it extremely hard to put the book down, from swoon worthy romance to exciting adventures there is never a dull moment I would give 10/10 for all her books if I could!

I really enjoyed the first 2 books in the series, and I thought book 3 was ok overall, but here... the plot was kind of all over the place and focusing on the wrong things at times, plus, I hate to say this, but not only Freya and Eldridge pretty much lost what made them interesting in the first place, they kind of feel old hat by now?
Honestly, I would have given up after book 3, but given how short the books are and how there's only one left after this, I'll keep going (even if I could predict the basic plot since book 2, unfortunately).
This is an amazing entry to this series. Sometimes I am not a fan of series that last this long but this book was a treat. Love the summer court setting, love spending time in the court. Love the characters and the ending. The series is always a fantastic journey
So addictive. I’m just flying through these. They’re so sweet and so much fun and such a magical world. The character development of both Freya and Eldridge has been great and I’m sad there’s only one book left in this world.
(Arc provided by Author Emma Hamm) (I need a minute to collect my thoughts - especially the ending 😱 NO SPOILERS June 4, 2021)
(Ok - I think I am ready hehe)
The next adventure for Freya takes her to the Summer Court where she had to trick the Summer Lord so that she could steal something from him during trying to beat the Goblin King (he shouldn't be still upset about that - should he?) and where she is certain she will find her father (even if the Goblin King thinks he is right and thinks he wouldn't be there).
As Freya tries to convince Eldridge to go to the Summer Court, he is being difficult about it (could it be something happened between the King and the Lord? There definitely was something the last time they were all together that had the men irritated with each other). When Eldridge finally agrees, they head off with their faithful companion Arrow (I love him) to the Summer Court to find her father. But, when they get there - they have a cantankerous Summer Lord, ancient magic that wants to deal with Freya only and something poisonous running through the court that the ancient magic wants Freya to figure out (of course - with little to no help (what is with the Fae and being soo cryptic and not helpful) and with a promise to help her with her father). But, how is she supposed to figure things out when the Summer Lord is being no help and drunk (also trying to keep them locked in their rooms).
Once again Emma Hamm brings the courts to life! And, with one as beautiful as Summer you felt like you were actually in the forest talking to the trees, feeling the flowers trying to hug you, how bright the sun and sand is, and last how clear and blue the ocean is (it makes you want to lay out on the sand in the sun with the waves crashing.
The only thing I will say about the ending - that was one way to bring the last court (the best one, Autumn Court) to the front and see the Autumn Thief (but under not happy nor inviting circumstances).
Will Freya find her father, and will they be able to make him human again? Will they find out the poison and fix it before something happens to the Summer Court? Will the Summer Lord listen and let Freya help? Maybe will Freya and the Summer Lord become friends? Will Freya finally let the Goblin King know how she feels about him? Or, will the Elves that are beyond beautiful tempt Eldridge away? (or is that in Freya's head).
would it kill these indie authors to put more work into their world building? still don't know why and how freya's father came into the mortal world and then fell in love with a fae-hating mortal. still don't know why leo decided to seclude himself on the mainland for that long, when he could've avoided all this, "woe is me! i am a poor king" if he had just taken cora as his wife from the begginng. still don't know how the source of freya's magic--like his her father's changeling bloodline enough to give her THIS much power?
idk man--maybe i expect too much from these kindle unlimited books
I think this one is my favorite in the series. Loved the story and character development..without giving away spoilers, we see a lot more of another character in depth and I devoured it from start to finish! I wish we see more of them in future books!

Of Werewolves and Curses is the fourth book in the Of Goblin Kings series and it was freaking fantastic! This book finds Freya and Eldridge at the Summer Court trying to find her werewolf father when ancient beings get involved things get complicated (per usual with faerie) and Freya must strike a deal, to get information on her father she must first stop a curse that is spreading through Summer. This book is filled with romance, drama, action, and adventure, all with a fairytale twist and told with a whimsical flair.
Freya has changed quite a bit, she is fully immersed in faerie, so much so that she is actually changing in more ways than one. Freya is more open-minded than she was at the beginning of the series and she isn't letting old prejudices stand in the way. Freya sees every fae with an open mind and an open heart, sure not everyone is trusted but she doesn't hate anymore. In fact, Freya is quite comfortable with the fae and their strange ways and becoming quite strange herself. Talking to ancient beings, striking up better deals than even the fae, and her magic is strong and she is doing the impossible. Freya uses her magic more openly now, she believes, trusts her instincts, and tries to accomplish imaginable feats. She does all this with Eldridge by her side, not as someone who leads her but now as an equal partner who loves her with his entire being.
Eldridge's and Freya's relationship has not been the easiest in the past, with Freya very slowly opening up to Eldridge, both of their big personalities rubbing together but somewhere in the middle of all the adventures they started to play together very nicely. Coming up with plans, bouncing ideas off of each other, teasing one another, the banter is great but they still have that passion where they either are angry at each other or can't keep their hands off of each other. It was great to finally see Freya opening up, she still has some issues she has to work through but she does love the goblin king and how they were together was just endearing, I like them together, Eldridge made my heart melt in this one. Something was going on in the book, things were hinted at and I'm glad I was right, now I'm just waiting to see how things play out in the next book.
The Summer Lord, Leo, is back and he is not the man I remembered. Leo was a bit of a mess and I didn't care for him too much but Leo has shown another side to himself in this book and I am surprised to say that I actually like Leo which means out of all the faerie monarchs the only one I don't like is the Spring Maiden. Leo has a big part in this story and it was great getting a different look at him and his court, learning the history and figuring out what was going on and of course the magic. I had no idea the story was going to go the way it did but I loved that, I loved just going along with the story, witnessing the drama, and seeing everything unfold in such a compelling way. There is a place in summer that reminds me of these homes in caves that I just learned about and I thought that was a pretty cool addition to the story it reminds me of some of the histories that I just learned about.
Of Werewolves and Curses was one whirlwind adventure and I was happy to go along with Freya and Eldridge as they try and help faerie, breaking curses, rescuing people, facing danger, working magic, and find love. The story was entertaining and told with a certain magical flare that just keeps me coming back for more. I am sad to say there is just one more book in the series, one more adventure with Freya and Eldridge, up next is the final book in the series, Of Fairytales and Magic.
Last book of 2023... very "Hmm" experience. I really am torn here, people:
On the one hand, I liked the low stakes, nearly cozy fantasy vibe every book gives off (I'm trying to save that overall bit for the last book in the series). And I do like that this book showed a change in setting (we get a beachy view, which was not what I was expecting, given the werewolf in the title), and progression in Freya/Eldridge's relationship (not only does Freya final give up the L word, but these two finally get engaged! And Eldridge calls her his hero during the proposal), but it also celebrates the multifaceted nature of two different couples: *Leo has to deal with letting Cora (his Summer Lady) see the vulnerable side of him *Freya (while reveling in their domestic life), is worried that Eldridge is only with her when adventure's afoot; I'm glad we get back to OG Freya's want of that other girl life, the one that includes settling down, raising a family, and how no one in her mortal village ever wanted that with her. It doesn't help her imposter syndrome, because our girl also questions if she's actually impressive or just lucky.
One of my favorite scenes is when Freya and Eldridge are getting ready for bed, continuing on their conversation as they nonverbally give into their established routine (she takes down her hair for him to brush, he fluffs up the pillows for the night, they even banter while nipping down each other's bodies. And Freya loves this; that despite them sleeping a new place, they still manage to make it their bedroom; also, on a personal level, love that Eldridge's explanation for not telling Freya bad news before bed is because "our bedroom should be a place of peace". This. This is one of my personal goals for the new year... except extend it to my home in general).
But... the curse is cured by an act of true love (seriously the most cheesy way possible; the big bad literally backs off with a "it was you we were waiting for all along, Cora"). And there's a severe lack of werewolves in this book (although I can almost forgive this because her father is said werewolf and his story is a metaphor for healing/progression as well), plus there's a typo that changed everything about Freya's L word: instead of saying "Freya", Eldridge goes "Cora, I've been waiting for you to say that!" WTF?! There's also the matter of the back blurb which teases some love triangle that doesn't exist and I'm honestly not sure who the "woman more beautiful than the sun is: is it Cora (who never had a thing with/for Eldridge, ever. She's loyal to Leo from the jump). Or is it the Autumn thief, who shows up once in a body of water and is only shown again to be dead or dying (guess I'll know in the final book) by the last page? I'm still lost there.
Personal note: I'm still lost on the age demographic: is it YA or NA? The cutaway scenes (and there a great many) scream YA, but that last book went NA real quick...
But if you can live with episodic views, and one of the most mismatched cover dresses I've ever seen (is Freya going to prom? Where is her riding habit?), then you'll have a good time.

I was so excited to get this ARC as this has quickly become one of my favorite series of 2021! Of Werewolves and Curses is the fourth book in Emma Hamm’s ‘Goblin King’ series. Each book in the series centers around one major element in either Freya’s life or Eldridge’s past, so that we get a bit more of the whole story with each new book, ‘Of Werewolves and Curses’ brings elements of BOTH of their lives to the foreground and y’all I am here for it!! We left off in the previous book with news that Freya’s father wasn’t dead but had been bitten by a werewolf and suffered under the curse! Freya, daddy’s girl of the year, sets off with her trusty sidekick Arrow and her beloved King Eldridge for the Summer Court, the last known place where the werewolves gathered. A place that has long been held sacred by the werewolves but mysteriously no one knows why? In book one ‘Of Goblins and Gold’ Freya notices there’s a familiarity between Eldridge and the Summer Lord and in book four ‘Of Werewolves and Curses’ that familiarity turns out to be a lot closer than Freya suspected! It seems her father isn’t the only one whose been suffering under a curse and now the Forest (and yes it gets a proper capital F name!) demands that Freya help the Summer Court or she’ll never see her father again. Through dangers untold and hardships unnumbered Freya and Eldridge will have to use their wiles to outsmart the realm itself and convince the Summer Lord to do something he’s been reluctant to do for hundreds of years, all while trying to build their relationship and have JUST ONE MOMENT ALONE! And you thought dating in the 21st century was hard! Let’s not forget our trusty sidekick Arrow in all of this. Arrow is the goodest good boy to ever live and I will die on this hill! One of the elements of this newest book is we get to see so much more of Arrow’s personality than we’ve been previously shown. If you were on the fence about Arrow before I guarantee you’ll love him as much as the rest of us by the end of this book. Arrow on a boat crossing a rough and choppy sea! He’s so dramatic! In a way that only a dog can be, umm I meant goblin dog, sorry Arrow don’t bite my ankles! I kind of saw the big reveal coming before it actually happened and yet I squealed like a little girl when it happened! I legit, jumped up and down and deep breathed for a minute before I could go back to reading. It was so beautiful and so well done and then just as I’m prepared for it to move to the next level something awful happens!!! My poor precious babies, they can’t get a single moment of beauty without things going from bad to worse! The end…well I’m not gonna tell you the end! Go read it yourself and then you can tell me how you really feel about Freya’s mom.

For some reason I was confused between giving it a 4 star and 5 star. But I ended up giving it 5 star. Because I loved it.
This series has yet to disappoint me. Just like other books in this series, this book was also incredible. I'm lucky that Goodreads has recommended this series to me and ever since I have been binge reading this series.
I like summer, and the story is about summer court and Freya's father. This quest was somewhat easier than the others, but it was a bit gruesome. But of all the leaders, l liked Leo. He was foolish, but he was also scared to face his loved one. Summer court is really kind court. When Leo is sober, he is really nice. Just like other books, this one has its surprises. I really likeed Freya and Leo's frienship. The only thing that I am confused about is in this book it says the summer lord has a face. But in the first book, the summer lord didn't have a face, and he was wearing a mask just like everyone else. I just don't understand. While this book didn't disappoint me, but I was hoping I would get some answers. Like why Freya's father was bitten by a wolf, and why did he go to the faerie realm? When his family lives in the mortal realm. This is important because Freya's mother followed him to the faerie realm, and Freya and her sister was alone for 10/11 years. I still have questions about Freya's mother, which I didn't get. Another thing I have yet to see is the goblin king being super powerful the way Freya claimed him to be. But maybe its because Freya is the leading character.
There were progress in Freya and goblin king's relationship. The way goblin king speak about his love for Freya it melts my heart. The ending was beautiful and unexpected for me. Because I wasn't expecting this to happen. But glad it did. I thought I would take a break from reading. But looks like it's not going to happen. Because as I said, the ending was beautiful, but it ended in cliffhanger. Now I need to know what has happened in autumn court.
I had to give this book 5 stars because it deserves. If I don't give five stars for some of its flaws then it would be injustice to this particular story.
Can I just say? I seriously love this series. It is turning into one of my favorite series of all time. The reads are easy and engaging and even though they are shorter books I have SO MUCH to talk about them after. It becomes one of those things were I want to say so much but I also don't want to give anything away so everyone can have the opportunity to read it fresh faced like I did.
I would throw hands for Freya and the Goblin King. Anytime they share a page together I get so excited to see what banter and mischief they get into next. And with this book...oof that introduction of a certain character had me on EDGE. I know this is a fantasy/action romance book and all but I was concerned - which is just a compliment to Emma Hamm's writing ability.
Also, I would like say how much I enjoy how each book moves through a different seasons court. As soon as I realized that's what was happening in this series I was like man, this is so cool!
I really enjoyed getting to see more of Eldridge and his past and upbringing in this book as well. We've gotten so much of that with Freya and I was happy to see that we are now getting more of him as well.
This was probably my favorite book so far in terms of scenery. Emma Hamm does a wonderful job with her world building and I was sucked right into Summer with this book even though it was cold and rainy outside the day I happened to be reading this book.
I am so excited for book five and I cannot wait to read about what happens next!
Of Werewolves and Curses is the fourth installment of The Goblin King series. I read it far too quickly. I just couldn’t put it down. I cannot wait for Emma to finish the next installment, but I don’t want to leave this world!
Freya and Eldridge are a couple learning about themselves, each other, and what it means to be in a realistic relationship. There is love, but there is also the work relationships take to be good. There are times where Freya and Eldridge don’t agree, but they either talk and work it out or they agree to disagree and do what they believe/know to be right. They support and love each other through disagreements and their individual missions.
The relationship between Arrow and Freya has grown into something so beautiful. If Freya and Eldridge are the heart of this series, Arrow and Freya are the soul. They love each other so steadfastly and completely.
These three have made a family and show each other unconditional love. As long as they have each, I believe they will be fine despite any evil plot or life situation that comes along. I sincerely hope Freya, Eldridge, and Arrow have a similar ending as another threesome in Emma’s The Otherworld series.

I absolutely loved this book. This is the forth book in a series of five. Emma Hamm does a great job of developing her characters to ensure that the reader becomes invested in them. I love seeing the relationship grow between Freya and Eldridge. Freya and Eldridge along with Arrow are headed to the Summer Kingdom to rescue Freya's father who is currently a werewolf being held captive. The summer kingdom is angry with the Summer King because of his behavior and is poisoning itself in order to punish the summer king for his hedonistic and selfish behavior. It's up to Freya and Eldridge to get the summer king to change his behavior which is the result of him not believing he is good enough for the women he loves. Of course Freya and Eldridge have different methods to get the couple back together but it works out in the end. The couple is reunited which makes the summer kingdom happy which was the end goal and Freya's father is released from his captivity. Freya and Eldridge become closer and admit their feelings to each other. Great story I will be sad to see it end. Emma Hamm has become one of my favorite writers.

First of all thank you to Emma Hamm for the ARC. It’s my first ever and even though I had a chance to read this before it’s release my opinions are my own and this is my honest review and feelings of this book.
4 1/2 I loved this book and especially loved being in the summer court. Each court has such a unique set up with different creatures and rules I feel like we get to have like 6 different worlds in one. Surprisingly they all fit together well and I’ve never really questioned the magic either. It all compliments each other.
I just have been continuously pleased reading third series. Some things I can see coming from a mile away but other things I’m just so perplexed (and refreshed) with how the world reacts. I like how The romance has progressed and it wasn’t just insta love in the first book.
Overall I highly recommend this whole series which is rare for me, I find that more often then not I think the first book of a series should have been a stand alone but not with these!
What an incredibly amazing book, ever since I stumbled over the first book I instantly wanted to read it. The covers are absolutely gorgeous and eye catching, the storyline is so good that you'll forget about sleep. Honestly I couldn't put this down, I love how Freya is such a strong and determined person who is at the same time insecure and vulnerable. She faces her fears even when she feels like she's suffocating, Arrow is a friend she made right from the start of book 1. He's such a remarkable character that you can't help but love him. Then there's my favourite Elderidge, and I hope I spelt his name right. He's got so much confidence yet he also has a vulnerable side. He hides his weaknesses well, but how he see's Freya will take your breath away. This is by far one of my favourite stories, the rich lore, the story, and so many memorable characters. This is a series that will forever stay with you, it's beautiful and written with so much dedication. It shows the talent of it's author. Now I'm just waiting for the audiobooks to come out.
Another enjoyable read in the Goblin King series, where Freya and Eldridge are off on more adventures, trying to unite Freya's family while also trying to save the Summer Court. One good friends, the Goblin King and Summer Court King have gone their separate ways. As the Summer Court falls into disrepair, a deal is struck to help solve the problem. Freya's father is cursed and only by helping the Summer Court can Freya bring him back to her family. Freya and Eldridge have some detective work ahead of them if they want to solve the mysteries of the Summer Court. Still, they have their own relationship issues they need to work out and resolve. Freya, being human, has her own insecurities and secrets, and allows her to lie, unlike the fae. Time is running out and Freya will have to use all her abilities and determination to save her father and the Summer Court.

This was honestly just so much fun to read. I devoured these books in less than a week!
In the new book in Emma Hamm’s Of Goblin Kings series, Of Werewolves and Curses, Freya of the mortal realm continues being a true hero after finding herself in the magical Fae Realm. This book continues with more labyrinth-esque adventures for Freya and the Goblin King, but we also see the shift in their character development as they begin navigating their new relationship.
I loved this book honestly. Freya deals with a lot of the insecurities that many women feel in relationships, and I loved the relatability of the characters even though we are reading a fantasy book.
If you love a strong, independent heroine, countless adventure, and a bit of romance, these books are for you!
Thank you Emma Hamm for providing me with a free ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. I am looking forward to the finale book in this series. ❤️
I still enjoy this series and will definitely read the next book. I like Freya, the lead female character. I like how tough and determined she is. I like the supporting cast of characters and the world. The one odd note that is getting stronger with each book (for me anyway), is the lead male character, the Goblin King. He supposedly earned the crown of King over all the fae, it was not just gifted to him. With the crown comes more power. He is supposed to be the most powerful person in all the fae kingdoms. Plus, he is centuries old and knows the land far better than Freya. Yet he allows Freya to lead him around and make most of the decisions. He gives up easily and nearly always needs an assist from Freya to defeat enemies. I know that Freya is the main character, but the Goblin King is not how I would think a powerful and decisive person would act. Other than that, the stories have been engaging and I would still recommend the series.
I've just finished reading the fourth instalment of the Of Goblins and gold by Emma Hamm series. What can I say about this book?
Well, let's start by saying that it was refreshing the change of Court, I really liked the intensity of Leo's character and his lady, they were some of my favourite things in the book.
A little more mature in terms of Eldridge and Freya's relationship, I could feel the connection of these soul mates.
One thing I could say I didn't quite like was Freya being able to accomplish everything, don't get me wrong, I love Freya but it's a bit weird that she's so powerful even more than the Goblin King, that's the only negative point I felt in the plot.
I'm looking forward to reading the end of this saga which I personally thought was good, although I still say that the first book is the best in the saga.

Outline: 1. They went to the Summer Court to find Freya’s dad 2. The summer court has the forest as an advisor. Eldridge and Leo (the summer king) had a falling apart and were not on good terms 3. The forest talked to Freya to help them in exchange for helping and releasing her father 4. They found out that the summer court id dying because Leo refused to marry Cora, the woman who was meant to rule the court with him. He is madly in love with her but has refused to see her for the past 200 years because he was ashamed of what he has become 5. Eldridge and Freya’s relationship gets rocky here - what with all the jealousy and time apart 6. Turns out Eldridge was just getting the pre proposal jitters and Freya was overzealous in her overthinking. I thought there would be OW problems, but it was just Freya’s insecurity. 7. The next book is about the Autumn Court

Freya and Eldridge are at it again in the fourth installment of the Of Goblin Kings series. Freya has discovered her father is alive and makes a deal with some disturbing trees to get him back. Her relationship with Eldridge is going well but she keeps stalling on saying those three little words. They journey to the summer court and play matchmaker for the summer lord.
Freya got on my nerves a little bit in this novel because she got so jealous and insecure. It made sense for her character to get this way as she still wasn't expressing her feelings very well. Eldridge is always a good character and never changes. as he seems to know himself much better than Freya does.
I'm enjoying that each of the sequels takes place in a different season and we get to revisit the character each time from the first novel. I am enjoying this series immensely.
This new series by Emma Hamm is one of the best romance fantasies I've read in such a long time. I love how the intimacy has grown between Eldridge the and Freya. In Emma's forth book 'Of Werewolves and Curses' Freya is trying to bring her whole family back together including her father which they found in book #3 'Of Pixies and Spells'. Problem is he's a werewolf but why and how did that happen? This exciting adventure unfolds in book #4 and the Lord of the Summer Court is connected in some way. Ancient trees, dead fae and a secret is on Freya's agenda and one outrageously sexy Goblin King. If you enjoy Sarah J Maas, Helena Rookwood, Sylvia Mercedes, you will love the series and 'Of Werewolves and Curses'.
''Of Werewolves and Curses'' is the fourth book of the Goblin Kings series and Freya's adventure with her beloved goblin king, Eldridge, and dog, Arrow it's in the Summer Court, where she has to try to get her father back, while discovering the secrets of the court, and it's leader, the Summer Lord. I LOVED to see Freya and Eldridge's relationship in this one, it's real, with its nuances and insecurities. The connection developed between the Summer Lord and Freya was very nice to see, although heartbreaking (not a love triangle). It shows just how Freya is such an amazing protagonist, with all of her insecurities and package. The Summer Court was perfect for a summer read. The descriptions are Emma Hamm's trademarked amazing, the writing is so magical and cool. The court is one of the prettiest and most interesting ones, being home for the elves and their mysteries. I'm so not ready to say goodbye to these characters in the next book. I would read more 10 books about Freya and her Goblin King's adventures, but everything good has to end sometime.

What can I say, I really enjoy this series. Freya is out there once again saving family. This time it is her father who is a werewolf and his currently guarded by the ancient beings in the Summer Court. Freya is called by these beings to fix the court and the Summer Lord in particular who doesn't care for her or the Goblin King. There is a poison seeping in this court that must be fixed and as Eldridge, Freya and Arrow try to discover what it is, Freya is wrestling with why she can't say "I love you" to the Goblin King even though she does. This book involves love, a mysterious island, making good on promises and commitment. In other words a normal day in the life of Freya and her king. So get lost in this series and enjoy.
Our trip through the Goblin King series continues and the fourth book does not disappoint. We continue on our adventures with Freya and Eldridge to the Summer court where Freya is in search of her father. Of course, twists and turns are abound and nothing is it seems (as is usual with the Fae). Emma's trademark excellent writing propels this book, it is filled with drama, action and adventure. The romance is taken down a notch compared to prior books but not to the point where it was detrimental, just not as steamy. It was awesome to learn more about the Summer Court and see more of the world. Overall an excellent fourth book and I cannot wait for the fifth! I recommend this series to fans of SJM, Holly Black and anyone who likes fantasy romance.
I love Freya, Eldrige and Arrow. It was exciting and nerve racking to go on this new journey with them. There’s a lot of tension within their circle. With the discovery that one of the fae courts maybe in dire trouble and in need of their help the trio sets off on a new quest. A quest that will hopefully save the fae and bring them closer to reuniting Freya with her father. Their bonds are tested in many ways and lack of communication doesn’t make anything easier. I shed a few tears as I watched each of the characters struggle with certain battles but my heart also jumped with joy in other parts. The ending was wonderful but also sad. I’m looking forward to jumping into the next part of their adventure and finding out what happens.
