I’m Happy To Be Back Home… Even Happier When I See An Old Friend

Pahrump, Nevada.
I've missed you.
England's wild green landscape is nothing like the flat orange desert.

I was raised here, I've come back to renovate the house for my mom.
You'll never guess who runs the local construction company – Eric, my childhood best friend.
I've been in love with Eric since high school, as if coming home wasn't complicated enough.

The name's Eric.
Recently divorced, father of a six-year-old, and a project manager for a construction company.

I love my kid, and the money's good – but it's lonely, and stressful, to say the least.

I just heard Will's back in town.
It'll be nice to see him again.

This was an ok low angst story, but even with its short length I found myself skimming long, irrelevant paragraphs describing background settings.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the story of best friends Will and Eric. Will always had a crush on Eric, but knew Eric was straight, so he moved away to England. Now Will's mother needs his help and he returns home to oversee the renovations to her house and to help her. Eric is now a divorced father of a young daughter Abby and a contractor. When Eric sees Will, he realizes how much he missed his best friend and asks him to stay at his house with him and his daughter. Will agrees to stay at Eric's house, but also knows it will be hard for him to be around Eric and not act on his feelings. As they spend time together, Eric realizes he has feelings for Will and always did. When Eric tells Will, Will thinks his dreams have come true. I really liked this book. I like how Eric accepted his feelings for Will and never once thought it was strange or bad. Eric and Will both realized their feelings for each other were real and i love how Abby was ok with everything. Good one.

This was a cute book with the best friends to lovers and gay for you tropes, 2 of my favorite types. This was a bit on the shorter end and there were a few things missing for me.

Eric seemed to basically jump right in to being with Will and they didn’t really talk much about the feelings afterwards. We all know Will has been in love with Eric since they were teens but we didn’t really get a look into Eric felt about being with Will in a romantic way. Yes, it was said that he felt he wanted to protect him and he’s do anything for him... but that doesn’t always translate to romantic feelings, ya know? I kinda wanted more of Eric reflecting on that.

And of course I always want more sex. We got one decent sex scene but in my opinion it wasn’t enough for my pervy mind. Ha!

But overall it was a cute story. I liked the writing style and enjoyed that everything seemed to work out in the end. I would read more stories like this from this author.

It was wayyyyy too short- for example, we don't see any of Will's UK sexual experiences- when he left high school, he hadn't even kissed anyone while sober, then 8-10 years later, we just to present tense insta-relationship? What happened or didn't happen in college and the UK that Will is still so deeply in love with Eric? And my next issue with this story- we only see the most basic of Eric's thought process- from hugging to protector mode, to love with a man? I wish the author would've expanded this a bit to include that. I can totally believe that high school bff's would reconnect and fall in love, but not in 2-3 days, especially after an almost decade of not having any contact. It goes from zero to "you're it for me, I want to spend the rest of my life with you" in less than 3 days. It's unbelievable, even for fiction...

This was a super sweet best friend to lover’s romance. Will had left town right after graduation and stayed away because of his love for his best friend Eric. Will only comes home when his mother is hurt and in a wheelchair. Eric is the contractor who is going to renovate his parents’ house. Eric had gotten married after high school, he is now divorced and has a six-year-old daughter, Abby. When they see each other again its like time stood still and Will realizes he is still in love with Eric. There’s a whole range of emotions in this story, it was well written, overall a very good romantic, old fashioned love story!! I was gifted an advanced copy from the author. This was solely based on my honest thoughts and views.

A nice slow burn that gets the juices flowing and then erupts like a volcano with overflowing pent up emotions by both Will and Eric being best friends and forming such a close bond as kids it was bound to happen!

Not to mention the sharp as a whip six year old daughter of Eric who put two and two together and got four!

Can two people who feel so much for each other one aware of his feelings and one still to realise his, waste so much time to be together?

I guess that is what a slow burn Friends to Lovers entails! A touch here a squeeze on the shoulder lingering glances.......

I loved it as a new author to me and will defnitely read more!

Will and Eric were best friends then Will left and Eric got married but they both missed each other and Will never stopped loving Eric now Eric is divorced with a cute little girl Abby and the secret is out and Eric well get a chance at a new love and family. The only downer was the ex inlaws but still a really good book.

I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book and this is my honest review

Men are morons, you just want to give them a slap sometimes! Say stuff, out aloud, to the person you adore, don’t run away to another country, saying nothing! It takes a six year old girl with the wisdom of an ancient, to cut through the rubbish and sort out her father’s love life. It’s a sweet, poignant, fun love story with a very satisfying ending.

It takes craft to compose a good novella. This one really fits the bill! All the emotions are there, the characters are likable, the plot is wholesome and there is a witty kid as a bonus! I really enjoyed reading this story, despite the fact that I am typically a long novel type.

I enjoyed this.

It was a good read. Friends to lovers is my jam. I would have liked more. It’s nice to read something without a lot of drama or angst but I do think it needed a little more. Everything went too smoothly.

Friends to lovers

A quick read with fully developed, likeable characters and an interesting storyline that ends with a whole lot of love and a sweet HEA.
Other than a couple minor editing errors, this was an enjoyable story.

no drama low angst

It’s a really nice story, no drama and little to no angst. A very feel good-book. It could have been a bit longer though, I feel like there is a lot of story still to tell.
