He never believed in love at first sight, especially love that was forbidden. Then he met a Kalquorian clan.
After fleeing Earth’s Mercy Colony six years before, Gabriel Rossi and his sister Iliana have carved out a decent life on a remote Adraf space station. Each avoids contact with other humans as much as possible. Gabriel’s life is adequate, but he yearns to be free to love as he was born to.
Clan Baknu has been tasked with convincing Iliana to return to Kalquor with them to join a clan. But when Baknu, Takat, and Kisk meet her stunning older brother, they’re eager to claim an Earther companion of their own.
Though Gabriel falls for the three men on sight, his priority is Iliana, who’s less than enthralled about joining a Kalquorian clan. Worse still, a sadistic slave trader is determined to claim Gabriel for purposes too terrible to imagine.
Clan Baknu pulls out all the stops to convince the Rossis that they can find love and happiness among the Kalquorians. They dare death to keep Gabriel out of the grasp of a murderous crime lord, who won’t stop until the Earther is his. Yet their greatest challenge is showing Gabriel dreams can come true…if he’ll accept their love.
Born in a small town on the coast of North Carolina to strict parents, Tracy St. John started out as a quiet, shy child. She was typical for her small town: studying hard for good grades, fishing with her dad on Saturdays and attending church on Sundays.
When adolescence kicked in, so did full-on rebellion. School, family and church fell by the wayside as Tracy partied too hard with the wrong people. Somehow surviving her wild-child phase, she pursued several careers before finally settling on video production and writing.
A string of failed relationships prompted her to give up on love…which of course meant fate immediately tossed Mr. Right her way. After only 4 months of dating, she eloped with the love of her life. They just celebrated 14 years of wedded bliss.
Prior to penning her first erotic novel ‘Alien Embrace’, Tracy wrote commercials, television and radio promos, and training films for various government entities.
Tracy St. John now lives in coastal Georgia with her husband and son. She still enjoys fishing, and you’ll often find her haunting train museums with her locomotive-loving son. Besides writing, she also works in video production both in front of and behind the camera. She’s usually cast as the gun-toting bad gal, getting handcuffed in the end. She has no complaints.
I started out liking this easily enough. I liked Gabriel and Iliana. We catch a little of their backstory and what's going on. But it started to go downhill.
As a spin-off of St. John's other series and it's MM, I expected to get more of an idea of the world and how it operated. You really need to have read the others to get a good understanding of the Kalquor's. I'd read a few of the earlier books but had forgotten most of it, but as someone who's only reading MM now, I think it could have benefited with some backstory.
Sex, sex, and sex follows. Granted, it was hot at times, but after a while, I started to skim the sex scenes because they came off as mostly gratuitous porn.
Gabriel changed over time. At first, I thought he was strong and independent but it seemed he turned too girly. I feel like you could have substitued a female lead and it would read the same.
I would have liked to see the three Kalquor's show their love for each other and have sex together. Every sex scene was about Gabriel and while that's nice and shit, I wanted to see these three big aliens getting it on together, not just reading about how they enjoyed each other the night before kind of thing.
I may read the other one in this series...just not in the mood right now.
It is a little wish-fulfilling-y because everything and everybody is about filling all of Gabriel’s holes which is cool and all but I was looking forward to everyone getting to touch everyone, you know?
I guess that’s what the prequel book is for. I’ve heard this similar complaint for the Matara line of this author’s world too.
Some dub-con although Gabriel does tentatively consent prior to the aphrodisiac bites after being seductively kissed which changes his mind… so I say dub-con. If you’re fine with that, then it’s fine.
Story wise, ehhhh… not one of the strongest or more compelling plots I’ve read.
We didn’t really learn anything new about the world, technology, politics… so it’s a little smut wrapped in different colored ribbons and bows.
If you can suspend your disbelief, you’ll enjoy the fluff for what it is.
I do wonder if population is such a problem… how are the few Kalquorian/Human females able to ‘perfectly’ have enough male children to fulfill each three Dramok, Nobek, and Imdiko role for a clan you know?
I know in previous books unnclanned Nobeks were the highest population of males on the planet.
I’d be so interested to see a story on a clan that might not have all roles but struggles to fight for their rights to clan and have a family.
I think that would be a fascinating twist on this perfect cookie cutter formulaic recipe we currently have. Just saying. Not sure if there are new books being written for this world?
I feel like I’m too opinionated for this erotica series… I… may have… read… too many books in this world… LOL!
I'll be honest. I chose this read because I was in the mood for a sex-fest with a bit of story in between. But quantity and quality are two very different things.
Overall, however, this is a passable read. Gabriel and his sister are hiding from the fanatic Earth government on a remote space station. But then a Kalquorian clan shows up and they're immediately enchanted by Gabriel. So they start their seduction pretty much right away. But there's also a villain lurking in the shadows who's objective it is to kidnap and enslave Gabriel. So the story is entertaining and fast-paced. The POV switches between Gabriel, the guys in his clan, and even the bad-guy. So far so good.
What wasn't good was the impersonal sexing. It almost appeared mechanical because of all the different body parts shoved and sucked and whatnot. But hey, foursomes are probably hard to write, what with all the limbs involved. But what really put me off was the rape-y feel to many of the encounters. Gabriel is drugged with an aphrodisiac, he's cuffed and held down and without further ado, fucked within an inch of his life. I know this isn't supposed to depict anything close to reality, it's a fantasy, escapism. But I think the author meant to make it hot, it was meant to be completely consensual and enjoyable for all parties. Instead, Gabriel came across as being coerced and used. Not until he and his sister agreed to come along to Kalquor did the sexytimes actually start to include some emotion.
So if you're looking for a porno with some story, this isn't it. But it was entertaining all the same.
Wow. It took me a year to realize that I just couldn’t make myself finish this.
Gabriel and his sister ran away from Earth, and carved themselves a kind of spartan existence on a remote space station. When Clan Baknu arrives, Gabe is drawn to what they’re offering, but can’t allow himself to succumb to the temptations they offer - his sister’s future comes first… blah, blah, blah……..
In the past, I’ve enjoyed these Clan Companions books, but this installment just never made it out of the starting gates. Gabe seemed weak and indecisive, and I couldn’t figure out why the Kalquorians were so interested.
So…I’ve tried a couple of times to get back to it, and just couldn’t. I’m tapping out.
I loved this start to the companions after being a huge fan of the Clans of Kalquor. I love when an author can cross genres and still keep a beautiful storyline coming yet each story turns out to be totally different but familiar. In the story a young man and his younger sister have been in hiding not only from the Earth government and their strict religious laws but also a bounty he has on his head from a ruthless slaver. He also finds himself under the spotlight with a clan of Kalqourian males who want to make him their companion which is the equivalent of a Matara from the first series. The uphill battles they face together is wonderful to read and I was happy to discover this universe continued on another level
Story is solid, well written, all normal for the series. Maybe a bit too quick from first encounter to consummation for my liking… However the greatest problem is that chronologically this is at the end of Kalquorian time and beginning of Earther kidnappings but story of Iliona is not continued in any previous books!!! And she sales as such an amazing person. And there isn’t a clan good for her that can be tied into the story of after Earth annihilation! How annoying!!!!
Another fantastic addition to the series. I can't wait for another clan companion to come out, I've read Joseph, Gabriel, and Matthew and hope that there will be many more of this series, its a brilliant story and series to add to the Kalquor book universe as a whole , and i would advise reading it even if you don't usually like MM books as it fits in Chronological universe. Again, this is a great read, and I would most certainly recommend this author and all her Kalquor Universe
The Companion series is so full of love and hope. The Earther men fear every moment of their lives that their homosexuality will be discovered; then a loving mate or clan finds them to fill their lives with safety, security and happiness. The sex is ultra hot and will get your engine going, and the characters are all unique and separate entities with understandable thoughts and feelings.
I really enjoyed this book, Gabriel was fun but what happened with Illiana, I hope there's another book on this pair. You can't leave us hanging like this. HECK for that matter what happened to the plaisian boy toys. I know so many books so little time.
This was an okay read I appreciate them adding 1⁄3 mail instead of a Marta.. I like Gabriel enough and The crying was okay didn't really get a lot from them though as characters..
I liked it but it feels like a work in progress. I’m not sorry I read it and I’m going to read the next one but I got the feeling that the author mostly like to write the sex scenes and don’t put the same amount of work on the story line in between. Still good though!
I love the Kalquorian Universe. I would like to see more regular Kalquor. This one should be read *before* Iliana's story (she is Gabriel's sister); I think readers would appreciate her story more with Gabriel's story having been read first.
Been waiting on this book to come out and devoured it like a delicious treat. The companion books are great especially since it brings up the issues of repressed human males in the kalquor universe.
There is worldbuilding here. And some character relationship building. But mostly, it's white hot sex. And that's not a complaint. A fun read, good and dirty.
I loved this book. It had the right amount of angst. I'm glad it didn't have a long drawn out courting. The clan in this book were great. Hopefully they will get a clan beginnings book.
I like the dynamics of the all male Kalquor books, and adding Gabriel just made it better. I did like the jump back into the past, I think it was in the past, at least. It gives more nuance to the main story.
The only thing I would've liked to see more of was more action in between the Clan before Gabriel joins.
