Teacher's Pet #2

Ballet Master

Rate this book

He’s a legendary dancer. A man of unmatched skill.

And he won’t stop staring at me.

It’s a huge opportunity when the famous dancer visits our class. I know that we’re lucky, but it sure doesn’t feel like that when I keep tripping and missing the music.

I’m just so nervous. A jittery wreck. And every second his eyes stay on me makes it worse.

He doesn’t bother watching the rest of the dancers.

Only me.

Am I really messing up that badly? Or does the older man with the dark eyes want something else from me…

Something wicked.

Ballet Master is a short and steamy age gap instalove story, featuring a shy student ballerina and her domineering new teacher.

I found this one kinda cringey and tired. When the professor/coach/mentor thing is done well, I eat that shit up. Somehow here it just wasn’t working for me.

This one was a little bit of a let down for me. Not the worst Cassie Mint's ever written but the story felt very empty of feelings.

Paige is a student and ballet dancer who isn't top of her class but who is a soulful dancer. One day, the ballet master Raphael comes as a guest to watch the troupe. As soon as his eyes land on Paige, he becomes instantly lovestruck and can't look away.

“Your nerves are terrible, pretty dancer. Torn to pieces, just like your tights.”-Raphael

I'm always very difficult when it comes to instalove stories. I understand that the concept is for two characters to fall in love very quickly but I personally still need it to look realistic to some extends. I just couldn't believe in what they were feeling because it was all superficial. They never took the time to learn about each other, and the only thing that really 'connected' them was ballet.

I used to find heaven in dance. Now it’s pumping its hot pussy on my cock.-Raphael

How romantic lmao

Paige was okay but too naive while Raphael was a bit weird. I didn't understand their attraction for each other at all, and I cringed a few times at what they were saying when alone together. I didn't care for all the nicknames Raphael gave to Paige either. It wasn't romantic and this story looked more like a grooming story to me.

I really wish the author had taken the time to develop their feelings rather than rush everything and sparkle it with drama in the last chapter. And I know novellas are supposed to be short stories but pacing is still essential to make it coherent and believable. Very disappointed.

Would I recommend this novella? I didn't care for it. Not the worst novella out there (and I can see some people really enjoyed it) but if you are like me and expects a little bit more pacing and connection between the characters, it may leave you unsatisfied.

**Note that I do not rate novellas and full-length books by the same standards**

I came across this book while it was free on Amazon Kindle (sadly, it’s not right now) and I thought I should give it a chance since it was so short.

Surprisingly, I liked this novella a whole lot. I didn’t expect it at all, but I had a great time reading this. It’s probably one of the best novellas I’ve ever read. It’s a taboo story with an instructor-student romance and there’s age gap too but it’s not clear how much older the hero is. I’d love if this was a full-length novel but unfortunately it's only 55 pages.

I’m really glad that I gave this book a chance, I’ll definitely read more books by this author, and I think that I’ll finish this series because I really enjoy teacher-student romances when they’re done properly like this one. 4 stars!

not my favorite

I didn’t enjoy this one as much as other books by this author. Hated the ugly, intimacy-destroying condom use, a barrier of latex separating the hero from the heroine. I also didn’t like that the epilogue had no babies for them.

This one was just a let down.

Hero’s past isn’t mentioned. Heroine is innocent. No others, no cheating or abuse. Gross condom use. No babies. Unsatisfactory ending.

A great little read.

I really enjoyed this installment of the series. I thought Rafael was a great character and I liked the plot. I also like that there was a pretty decent dark spot because sometimes you don’t get that with books this the short. Not a ton of steam but that’s OK it wasn’t what I was looking for today.

2.5 stars rounded up

I love Cassie Mink and her novellas are usually 4-5 stars for me.
But this one wasn't it.
Too instalovey.
Too fast and just not enough time to make me believe that hasty sort of love that happened within a day or so.
But it's a decent read if you like that kind of stories.

This is a short novella about a very prominent dance instructor becoming infatuated with one of the students in a class he is observing.

This was a fun time, but not much else to it :)

This was an enjoyable read. This is book 2 of the Teacher's Pet series. This story follows the romance of ballet legend, Raphael and his ballet student, Paige. Paige is a ballerina in training, and captures the attention of legendary ballet dancer, Raphael with her emotions through her dancing. Paige is a bit naive in this story. I thought she would be more fierce. However, I think the reason why she is naive is because the world of dance is a cruel yet beautiful world. It can break and make you. You just need to get courage, and dance with passion. Also, Raphael is also another great character. He makes the story more alluring. He is possessive, and seductive. I thought the story was great, and interesting. I am curious how the rest of the series will turn out. Next up is the story of Leona and her love story. Life Model, here I come. Overall, a great read.

My first ballet romance and I really enjoyed it. It still managed to have that alpha possessiveness that sucks you in. I really enjoyed the storyline and the sweet burn of it. The characters were amazing and written just to my liking, the more dominant role and the more submissive roll but it wasn't as simple as that, the characters just really complimented each other as they came across as opposites that were just meant to be together. I can't explain it but this author has a way with her writing that is just the perfect story, in my opinion. I'm really looking forward to reading more books like this in the future.

Tiny Dancer

This was a shorty, steamy read that was the perfect way to end the day.

I know nothing about ballet but enjoyed the glimpse into the world, and the taboo fantasy of falling for a revered older professional dancer in the industry.

This one was super cute as well! I didn’t remember that the girls are connected, that was fun! It’s was very instalove, but in this genre I’m not mad about it. Lots of highlighting, super sweet, and not a lot of ick. Enjoyed the pining!

I was in the mood for something ballet related, but this was bad. The hero was creepy. He focused on her from the beginning and it made me uncomfortable. He was telling her something and fixing her shoes in the middle of the class with everyone watching and he didn't do that with anyone else. He was making her a target with that special treatment. And at one point, he was dancing with her (in class) and he ended up grabbing and holding her ass which I found distasteful. Wasn't this book supposed to be about ballet? I don't remember there being ass grabbing in shows that I saw. I like ballet because it's subtle but still able to showcase emotions. And these two dry humping and calling it ballet was distasteful in my opinion. Also, reading the book, I got the impression that the heroine wasn't a really good dancer, but they tried to compensate her lack of talent saying that she 'feels' the music, so she's different. If he wasn't Ballet Master, as everyone liked to call him (including himself), and if he didn't have connections and interest in her, she never would have become a big ballerina. Also, I got the impression that she was in awe with his persona, but not that onto the person he is. And he sounded like a predator fixating on a young prey. I had some creepy teachers while I was in school and he reminded me of some of them.

I didn't have luck with this author's books lately and maybe it's time to stop trying to like her books. I'll try one or two more books just to be sure, but I think she's not for me anymore.

The couple: Rafael and Paige

Romance trope: teacher-student
Series: Teacher's Pet
Length: 67 pages

Plot: Paige is a ballet student and when Rafael, a noted ballet master shows up, he immediately singles her out. But she's not sure that's a good idea. Her career may not be able to handle it, and neither might her heart.

Commentary: I do like that this author's stories aren't like a lot of other insta-love stories; the heroines are usually innocent but not completely naive; the heroes aren't OTT right away - they often try to leave or do leave before they realize their mistake and come back; there are situations that cause external conflict (in this case, the mean ballet mistress who kicks Paige out). This story was okay, but there were a couple of times that I was a little confused about why the hero didn't just explain himself (like the first time they were together and he got her off and just left without explaining what he was doing, causing her to freak out and think he didn't want her). I don't know that I liked that sort of conflict. Still, the story was well-written and ended by resolving the question of Paige dancing in the ballet Rafael had originally arranged for her.

Paige is a ballet student when Raphael, a retired ballet dancer, comes to her school and decides to direct their recital with Paige in the leading role. Both are attracted to the other. Will they act on their attraction?

This story was too story. It needed fleshing out to understand the motivation of Paige, Raphael, and Madame who owns the Academy. I liked Paige though. She was realistic and could, when necessary, stand up to Raphael. As a retired star of the ballet world, Raphael had all the arrogance of a star. Madame, while truthful, was hiss-worthy. I wish the plot would have been longer. I felt I missed some of the story.

I look forward to other stories in the series as I liked Paige's friends.

I have always had a soft spot for stories about the ballet (think Black Swan), even more so if they purport to be in the erotic romance category. This story certainly qualifies and was an enjoyable quick read. An unexpected attraction between a dancing student and a retired ballet master leads to both a romance and career challenges for Paige. The love story is sweet and spankings and sex are sensuous. I just felt there could have/should have been so much more, but unfortunately all of Ms. Mint’s stories seem to be of the short variety. 4 Stars

Dance for the Ballet Master

As a former dancer, I appreciate the great attention to detail describing the alluring, but cruel world of the art of dance. The scene of dance class is set realistically and that's where the fantasy can take off beautifully.

This is a deliciously seductive story, where an attraction sparks between a shy dancer and a commanding ballet master. In a whirlwind of stolen moments of passion and rapturous pleasure, the knot of excitement tightens ever so sweetly, only to finally snap...

The only downside to this story was, that it ended too soon!

This was good.
I mean it was a very significant imbalance of power, but that's wanted in these kinds of stories, amirite?
I think I would have died when a famous Ballet Dancer would have singled me out, while I stumble through my routine. But it worked out nicely and insta love-y in the end.

What I really liked was Raphael using a condom when he slept with Paige. He really cared for her and her career and allowed her dreams to soar.

(Also I could understand her instructor throwing her out of the academy - but personally I would have reported Raphael as well. To keep him from further creeping around young dancers. But that's reality creeping in and not really "realistic" for books like that)

Something about the girl in the faded grey leotard with a tiny ladder at the herm of her tights  and frayed satin at the bottom of her pointe shoes captivates Ballet Master Raphael

"She dances with so much feeling that I forget to breathe. Her every movement aches with emotion. She is lightness; eternal grace"

A short fasted pace age gap short novella. This is the second book in the Teacher's Pet Series. The story features likeable characters with steaming hot chemisty between the two main parts.

Raphael Dupont, a legend in the Ballet world is now staring his dark narrowing eyes at Paige as she fumbles her way through the routine. Raphael is stumped by the draw he feels towards Paige, but she lights a fire within him with every brief glance. But can anything become of the desires building between student and master? This is a well written short steamy insta loving romance.

The short story was too short ... or rather, the building up to the relationship is good, but the end is very hasty. I wished for a little bit more. She is a budding prima ballerina and he is a celebrated dancer. The chemistry between the two is explosive and unique and after one or two mishaps the two get together and stay that way. A nice love story with some steamy sex scenes - ideal for a short respite.

Paige is at the point of her career to take off, but will her new instructor Raphael derail her or get her thrown out of the academy. A steamy read, with some sensual scenes in dance that lead to much more. An intriguing storyline and characters that make this short story interesting. A wonderful ending that is sure to keep this couple on their toes.

I completely devoured Ballet Master by Cassie Mint. She has quickly become an automatic one-click author for me. I don't even have to read the blurb anymore because I know it will be amazing. Ballet Master is no exception. Raphael and Paige had off the charts hot chemistry. Raphael is a ballet legend who falls quickly for young ballet student Paige. If you enjoy OTT insta love you will love their story!

Are Leotards Really That Sexy?

This was good, I enjoyed it. It didn't blow me away but it did what it set out to do. So far this isn't my favourite series by Cassie Mint but I still love her writing and her ability to get a story told in such a short amount of time! I liked Rafael and Paige and I liked the reference to the previous book. I also loved the description of the dancing, it was eyebrow raising! All in all, worth a read.

Whoa!

Not my favorite of Cassie Mint's novels, but still insta-love insta-fast. How is it possible NOT to love these books? Even with a cold dance instructor, the pace and development and harnessed passion were incredible! Raphael really did love Paige, and I'm glad, but they weren't my favorite couple of Cassie Mint's works. Still, Paige's epilogue is as beautiful as the descriptions of her dances. Give me more, Cassie Mint!

Perfect pallet cleanser between heavy series reads! Was the story exceptional, no but it is a fast paced novella so this insta-love story was perfect for what it is.

As a dance instructor myself I am pretty judgemental on books with dance in them. This was good for living in the dance world but not really having a lot of dance specific content. I’d rather minimal specific content over inaccurate/miss-used dance content.
