When happily married Mandy Taylor advertises for some help with her horse, she's delighted to meet Alison Bancroft. A young woman recovering from a traumatic divorce, Ali is sweet, fun-loving and the two women quickly become friends. Over a bottle of wine one evening, Ali confesses that she's a swinger. Mandy is intrigued and fascinated by her friend's risqué private life, her wide circle of liberated friends and the secret parties that she regularly attends. When Ali produces an invitation to Firefly, an exclusive, members-only club, Mandy's curious. Tagging along as an observer, she finds the whole evening darkly exciting - a far cry from her mundane life with her loving husband, Mark. Although vowing never to return to Firefly, Mandy's tempted. After all, she knows she'd never cheat on Mark, so there's no harm in it. Is there? Too late, Mandy begins to realise that Alison is not the innocent, open-minded friend she seems. Who are the mysterious and dangerous people of Firefly and why are they seemingly hell-bent on destroying everything that Mandy holds dear? As her life plunges into a dark and terrifying nightmare from which there appears no way out, Mandy discovers that it's not just her marriage, career and reputation that are at stake, but the very lives of the people she loves. Swing is a dark and gripping Psychological Thriller, from the author of Covet and Shadow.
If you loved reading Rachel Harley's other psychological thrillers 'Covet' and 'Shadow', you will be blown away by Swing. Once again the author delivers on character portrayal, plot, and suspense. She creates real characters who, by their very nature, are often just like you and me, then introduces something or someone into their world that begins a cascading avalanche of trouble that hurls them into what seems like a hopeless situation fraught with intrigue and danger. There was a point in this book where I was so full of dread and so full of worry for Mandy that I had to close my eyes and take deep breaths before I could read on. I'm glad I did because the build up to the ending, and the ending itself was pretty awesome, and certainly didn't leave me disappointed. A well-deserved 5 star rating from me.
This book is fab!!. I finished this in three days couldn’t put it down. Great story with a few twists and turns along the way. Not what I expected at all in a good way
excellent inevitable dark story but I feel the end is suddenly rushed and not very convincing. It is perhaps too neat and tidy but a great build up of tension.
