A virgin desperate to find love. A Daddy searching for passion. Can they find what they're looking for in each other? Or will it all be too much?
MR NICE GUY is an age gap gay romance with light bedroom age play. HEA. This is a standalone book in the Hot Boy Summer age gap romance series.
Heya! I'm Joe Satoria, I write sweet and spicy MM romances.
I mostly write Daddies and D/s dynamics in my pairings... some soft and sweet, other dark and dangerous.
As a queer person using he/they pronouns, I am an own voices author, which means you're reading through the eyes of lived experience... only the gay relationships part, definitely not the dangerous Daddies... oops!
Took me a little while to warm up to the writing style as certain turns of phrase took me out of the story at times I liked both Roscoe and Dorian a lot and when they finally did the deed, it was hot. The daddy kink was mild, with no age regression
It's hot, it's steamy, the writing is clean cut and fleshed out.
My problem is Roscoe. There is nothing wrong with the guy per se,it just took me longer for him to grow on me. I think he's just too forceful maybe, or his confidence was shafting me in the beginning the wrong way. I honestly can't pinpoint exactly why I didnt like him, I just know I didnt feel any chemistry from him in the beginning but then around 60% of the book things changed and they clicked together. Dorian is sweet and has this balance between a dolice lamb and a fiesty little, I liked the contrast.
I know a lot of people who would enjoy this book even though it took me a minute to get there.
Joe Satoria’s Mr. Nice Guy came into my life when I needed a distraction. Things in my writing life weren’t moving as smoothly as I’d planned. I needed to go outside, sit by the pool, and decompress. I needed to get my mind off my troubles. Thankfully, Dorian and Roscoe swept me away.
The reason I was swept away is primarily due to the characters’ authentic, witty voices. Author Joe Satoria knows how to inject spirit and honesty into the flawed humanity of his characters to create unique, addictive, and very likeable voices. They are refreshing. Entertaining. Which makes for a fun, page-turning read.
I realized this book was different from the rest when I came across this passage early in the story:
Roscoe thinking about Dorian: “And there I was, thinking this was some pervert. He was still a perv for watching me from the balcony. I liked that about him already.”
What? This comment caught me by surprise. And it was the first time of many. Roscoe and Dorian didn’t think or do what I expected of them. I really like that.
Roscoe appreciates Dorian’s “perversions,” and the feeling is mutual. Together they explore Dorian’s budding sexuality, and it is very satisfying.
I highly recommend Joe Satoria’s Mr. Nice Guy. If you enjoy gay romance with flavor, with unique and memorable voices, with wit. If you like romance that makes you feel good. This is the book for you.
I must say it was a struggle for me to finish this. The kink/dynamic was something I like to read but I just couldn't get over how I thought Roscoe was taking advantage of Dorian. I get it...young Dorian needs a Daddy...and Roscoe is there to give him the rules, guidance and punishment if necessary. I felt the romance was forced. To me more power play instead of romance but i was pleased that they had a satisfying HEA.

This could have been much better. The writing style was odd, full of sentence fragments, and way too much interior monologue for an instalust/instalove Daddy/boy plot. And yet, for all the internal musing by both characters, neither of them were well developed. Plus, there were a few hot scenes, but all things considered, there wasn't enough here to detract from how badly written it was.
Mr. Nice Guy is the book in the Hot Boy Summer serie and was my first read by Joe Satoria. I liked the story of Dorian and Roscoe. It was sweet and sexy.
The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Speaking of filling…..wait, that’s for later. Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with! By the time you’ve figured out who is who and how deep hate can run, you’re already hooked, and you may as well give up the fight and prepare yourself for an all-nighter!
Can’t say I didn’t warn you. We met Roscoe previously, but we get to see a little more of him here. Dorian is a broke student, pet sitting for his aunt, he has always wanted someone to love him for him, take care of him and be his daddy. Roscoe is a runner it helps him relieve his stress, sexy as all get out body but he puts in the work and he usually sits on his balcony to relax. Dorian makes it a point to watch Roscoe I mean with a body like that who wouldn’t look they meet and start to get to know each other a little better learning a lot from each other. Dorian is new to all this but deep down knows what he wants, Roscoe well he has been down this road before and know it has to be Dorian decision. Will Dorian trust enough to let go to go after what he wants; will Roscoe be the best teacher and can they find happiness?
This is a new to me author that I’ve read a lot of good things about. This book certainly wasn’t bad, but it was definitely a different style of writing than I’m used to. The sentences are almost abrupt in nature. Seeming to jump from one thought to another. Again, not necessarily bad, but it did take some getting used to.
This was practically an insta-love read. These two jump right in the deep end and never really look back. Dorian was inexperienced and needed some guidance and Roscoe was all too happy to supply it. Roscoe seemed to be a little unsure of his role. The Daddy aspect of this book was shaky at best. There didn’t appear to be a depth of emotion between Dorian and Roscoe. I wish we had seen the conversation Roscoe needed to have with Dorian about his previous poly relationship on page. Roscoe was a little closed off for much of the book.
I did like that Roscoe didn’t rush or push Dorian into anything. Dorian was a happy participant with everything that happened and it was nice to see Dorian take the reins and go after what he wanted with regards to his relationship with Roscoe. The epilogue was satisfying and ended the book well.
Pet sitting changed his life Dorian wasn’t looking forward to pet sitting for his aunt. Yes he was going to Spain but he couldn’t take his best friend with him so he knew he was going to be bored. That was until he saw the hottie in the building across from his aunts. Dorian didn’t stalk him but he was a peeping Tom, he would stare at him when he came back from his runs all hot and sweaty. Roscoe was still hurting after his recent break up. It really hurts to think that the couple that he had been seen for a year have decided they want to go it alone and try for a baby. To get over the break up Roscoe started running more four times a day. That’s when he noticed the young man across the the balcony, had been watching him. But what could happen when they met? I really enjoyed this story it just had such a good flow about it. I really like how Roscoe took his time to get to know what Dorian wanted and what he liked it was a really good relationship between them another great read from Joe Satoria

When you look, you see what you got! Roscoe, was part of a throuple, until they decided they wanted a baby with each other. They snuck that in, Roscoe was totally unaware. He runs, to relieve his stress and to feel. Dorian, is broke and pet sitting for his Aunt. He notices Roscoe when he comes onto the balcony to relax and pose. Dorian, peaks at Roscoe, then gets bolder with his watching. They are both at decision points in their lives, not voluntarily. They do a very slow courtship. They may have a lot to learn from each other. Will Dorian, take the plunge and, relate? Roscoe, is seasoned and knows what he wants. Is there enough trust, to ask for what you want? Their journey of exploring new things, absolutely enjoying them on the way, is a good start. I received an ARC from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
DNF The book should have and could have been better. The writing style had an awkward sentence structure and needed better editing. The narrative too often had overblown emotion. There were details, like, why did the author call Roscoe’s robe a ‘nightgown’? It was off putting and a beta reader or editor should have had it changed. There was too much repetition of Dorian being a virgin and the smelly cats. To add to this, I didn’t care for Roscoe. He really should have been written better as there is nothing like a daddy bear. He came off as manipulative and his inner monologues did not endear him to this reader. The intrusive friends had me nervous that they would show up. It’s odd that both MCs each had a close friend who were self absorbed and petty, yuck. I’m at 60% and not sure if I’ll continue. Perhaps I’m expecting too much from a vacation relationship with an ending date, or because the writing and characters are disappointing. I’ll add a star for the lollipop love, lol. I read on and the story and writing got far worse. The dialogue of the aunt was ludicrous! I’m taking away the star. I don’t want to put down this author’s attempt at earning their daily bread. Their books are just not for me.
I loved this book. I couldn't put it down again. I love Joe's writing and I have enjoyed all his books but I find in this book that he's really coming into his own. I love how his sassiness and quirkiness comes across in his writing. This book is full sass, sweetness and all the heat. Awkward and a19 year old virgin dorian is babysitting his aunt's cats in Spain although he doesn't even like cats. He notices 39 year old Roscoe across the yard and it turns out they have quite a lot of chemistry and like the same kinks. Inevitable they fall for each other 💜 I really enjoyed reading this story 💜
3.8 stars..A good start as Dorian pervs on the neighbour across from the apartment. Includes both pov's and its a case who's checking on who. That sneaky goldfish or I should say Roscoe lol yah you'll have to read. Scenes play out and the V-card gets demolished awhile learning some kinks as Daddy teachers Dorian things. Okay the book has some really good scenes and some not so good but overall this was enjoyable. A fast lust/love romance with a distance element involved.
Dorian 19 was pet sitting for his aunt in Spain for 3 weeks. Rosco 39 was a lonely accountant who loved being admired from across the balcony.
First time reading this author but because I can't write worth diddly I still give 5 stars. The book needed some proofreading as there were many typos and the story felt kinda off kilter to me. Dorian is house sitting for his Aunt while on break from university in England at her apartment in Spain. He begins spying on his neighbor Roscoe who lives across the courtyard and imagines losing his virginity to the older man. The writing was kind of stilted but still an enjoyable book. If you like age gap romance you would probably like this book.
I have read 2 books of Joe's before this (Push 1 for Fake Boyfriend and Puch 2 for Fake Fiance). I liked this one even better. I thought Dorian was cute and I would have given my left arm for someone like Roscoe! I found it steamy and seductive, yet cuddly and passionate. Since he was so young and inexperienced, Dorian needed someone like Roscoe that was patient and kind, although manly and aggressive. I love cute and low angst HEAs, I need them right now and Joe is serving that up for me! Thank you Joe for another fun read!
I was really disappointed with this. I saw such good reviews and had high hopes, but it wasn't well written for me. I started it and there were quite a few mistakes grammar wise but I thought well that's just small mistakes. Then the farther I read the less I could stand it. I didn't get the characters...I mean that as in I didn't like them at all. Overall the book just wasn't to my liking and I couldn't even make it past their first time.
Whilst it started off promising - DNF @ 60%. Quite hard to follow the change in perspectives, especially when dealing with text messages between them. Whilst one M is experienced, the other M is not - it feels like the author regressed the experienced one and they because confusing.
**SPOILER - JUMP SCARE...**
Interesting that the 'voyeur' who doesn't know what he wants, knows instantly he wants to sniff dirty laundry. It didn't really make sense.
I loved this book. Dorian Lanter is in Spain pet sitting for his Aunt. When he notices a man across the way. Roscoe Stone is almost 40 but notices the man in Mrs. Gould apt watching him. Roscoe doesn't mind being watched and tries to find a way to get him to come over. When they finally meet will they be able to fill the desires they both have? Or will they crash and burn?
No spoilers of any kind included. I really loved Mr Nice Guy. Joe Satoria really knows how to weave an amazing story that makes you lose track of time and everything around you. So yes I do recommend Mr Nice Guy.

Good story! It took me a bit to warm up to Roscoe, not sure what it was about the character. I liked both Roscoe and Dorian. I loved the kink, hot and steamy. Loved the progression of their relationship, they didn't see it coming!

Kind of a slow start but it picks up in the middle and the May/December romance works out for Dorian and Roscoe. The best part for them is the move for Dorian, now he can be treated as a boy forever!
What a hot and sweet story about 2 men finding their forever ever after ! I love how the story between Dorian and Roscoe buildt up and I would love to learn more about Cherry and Aiden !
When I read the blurb I thought it would be a good read, and it was for a while, but then, for me, it got blogged down, I found it slow and a little repedative. I did finish it, with a tiny bit of skimming, but it didn't quite hold me enthralled. No disrespect to the author.
This story was a surprise to me. I thought I knew how the story would go and was so pleased when Roscoe and Dorian fell in love and not just lust. Will read more of Joe Satoria stories.
It was ok, no breaks, no cheating. Short novella. Super surface level. Guy has break up nursing broken heart.. young guy on uni break house sitting have fling...
