Nellie H. Steele lives in the South Hills of Pittsburgh with her family and her many fur-babies. When she isn't writing, she enjoys teaching Statistics at a local university or watching her dogs and cats play in the yard.
Nellie is the author of the Cate Kensie Mystery Series, a cozy mystery series following the adventures of Dr. Catherine Kensie, a history professor turned Scottish Countess, and her beloved dog, Riley, as they navigate their new lives in their quirky Scottish highlands castle, solving mysteries along the way! She is the creator of the Shadow Slayers series, a suspenseful series with a supernatural twist! Follow the Shadow Slayers through time as they fight to banish darkness from the world. Nellie also writes an adventure series, Maggie Edwards Adventures. Follow Maggie Edwards as she travels the world solving mysteries and finding unique treasures!
Maggie Edwards is flush from her recent adventure that took her to the deserts of Egypt where she discovered the Tomb of Cleopatra. Upon returning home to America where she's celebrating a museum display of the treasures found, a piece from the collection is stolen. It turns out to be the first of three pieces needed to locate the legendary Library of Alexandria!
With her boyfriend Henry, Uncle Ollie, and close friends Piper and Charlie, they embark on a chase against a group of unscrupulous thieves who will stop at nothing to get their hands on the library before they do. In order to do this, each must find the location of the missing Ankhs, which shows the way to this magnificent find. As Maggie and friends persevere, the stakes are rising when the group facing off with them prove they will do whatever it takes to find the library.... Even commit murder.
This is Book 2 of the Maggie Edwards Adventures Series and I was not disappointed. The author does an excellent job keeping the reader glued to the pages with suspense and adventure. I'm looking forward to Book 3. Maggie is the kind of girl I'd like to go on any adventure with.
Without a doubt, this is a fast paced adventure series with Maggie and her trusty sidekick Piper back at work at Books and Baubles celebrating the about to open Museum Gala's Cleopatra's Tomb exhibit. During the hubbub at the Gala, a small, seeming worthless ceramic ankh is stolen-- but it may be a key to something else.
Maggie takes off for London, Venice and then Egypt as she tries to track down who stole the ankh and why. It's (obviously) book 2 but it's a stand alone and well worth your time. Highly Recommended 5/5

Secret of the Ankhs: A Maggie Edwards Adventure (Maggie Edwards Adventures Book 2) by Nellie H. Steele is an awesome story to read. This is book number two in this awesome series that I have really loved reading. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about adventure.
I read a complimentary Advanced Reader Copy of this book & am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review.
The Maggie Edwards Adventure series continues to build where the last book, Cleopatra's Tomb, left off. Maggie is back at her Book and Baubles Boutique Shoppe, along with her trusted, dependable clerk/assistant manager Piper, dusting shelves and selling items after her adventure finding Cleopatra's Tomb. Later, at a museum's VIP Gala Exhibit of the Cleopatra's Tomb treasures a new adventure begins as a seemingly less valuable item, an ankh, is stolen and no suspects can easily be identified. The stage is set for Maggie and her team to track down the thief, the ankh, the reason for the seemingly bizarre theft, and begin another dangerous adventure to determine what the theft is all about. Nellie Steele does an exceptional job of evolving the storyline from a simple snatch and grabs robbery to an international conspiracy leading to exotic locations and providing the reader with abundant excitement, danger, intrigue, and at times humor. I highly recommend the book for readers who like a fast-paced, dangerous adventure series.
Maggie and Henry are back with a new archaeological action adventure and the laughs and thrills are even better than the first time. Joined by Maggie's boutique bookstore employee Piper, who finds Charlie the computer bloke of some possibly romantic interest and professional archaeologist Uncle Ollie the team heads back to Egypt where they are joined by Emma the "traitor" of their last adventure. Secret maps, kidnapping, and more chase thrills abound in this very fun and entertaining book!!! Happily recommend this fast and entertaining read!!!!
Indiana Jones meets Ocean’s 11! Strong, Smart and funny Maggie Edwards delivers again in this the second book of the series! Throughly entertaining and very fun to read!
This was a fun adventure story very similar to Indiana Jones. You know the kind of thing I mean: crawling about in dusty old tombs, deadly traps, nasty villains, solving ancient riddles and traveling the world. And maybe a few museum trips might be involved too! Basically its a fast moving story with lots of action. Oh and thievery is involved too! How can you have ancient tombs without thieves?
Still I did find some of the characters kind of annoying and that did ruin the story somewhat. A few sounded like broken records that kept repeating the same phrase over and over, as if he couldn't think of anything else to say! Then there were the arguments between Emma and Maggie which grew old fast. I suppose the arguments wouldn't be so bad if Charlie wouldn't have been using that phrase so much!
And the mystery... Well maybe I am psychic but I was actually able to guess the bit about the ankhs (as in how to use them) very early on in the story? I thought it was kind of obvious? The characters seemed to really struggle with it but for some reason I just guessed it?
And although the main characters were in all sorts of dangerous situations I just never actually felt they were in danger? I had just presumed they would all pull through perfectly fine? Also didn't get any real sense of thrills or chills. No "Oh My Gosh they are going to DIE!!" moments at all... I guess in a weird way it's more like Scooby-Doo pretending he is Indiana Jones than actual Indiana Jones. If that makes sense?
I did pause reading this partway through and then continued it a few days later.
This book has 368 pages since the page count is not listed here on Goodreads.
The best yet, now it’s finished I might just get some housework done. Piper was brilliant much better than Leo. Can’t wait for the next one to be published !
Nellie writes some clever and imaginative stuff! She paints with words that make the reader become part of story. I love following the adventures and mysteries her characters experience. More please!
A must read book after the first book in the series! Like the first, this one is just as exciting, adventurous, with some new love interests at play. Also trekking from one country to another, on different modes of transportation makes you imagine that you're really there!
Maggie and the gang end up in trouble again! While some of their findings in Cleopatra us Tomb is on exhibit, the lights go out! Yep, you guessed it, something has been taken, an ankh! So now it's a race against time to find all of them. Plus, what it leads to.... Not gonna give it away! Since I have a history degree and a minor in anthropology, I was bouncing on my bed in glee or worry... Charlie returns to help and he meets Piper, which was totally adorable. The booby traps in this one had a few from Indiana Jones which had me laughing so loud I had to tell my dad why he could hear me in his room. Lol!
These books are so much fun with a bit of fear and terror for the characters. I can't wait to see what happens next!
I found the constant use of the words, 'stalked', 'collapsed', 'stormed' to be annoying. The exchanges between Maggie & Emma were childish, and I found Maggie to be more like a spoiled, petulant child at times. Had I had a physical book, I would have skimmed it & gotten rid of it. I ended up fast forwarding through a lot of it. I love a GOOD book set in Egypt & archeology - but not this one.
Always lots of action in this audiobook, with many typical tomb raider type situations and save the day heroics performed by novice agent Maggie. Just not the story for me. Lacked originality but helped pass the time as I walked or tried to wind down to sleep.
Another awesome Maggie Edwards Adventure. The fast paced action and great storyline will not let you take a breather. The characters are strong and very believable. I really like this book and I highly recommend it.
I'm amazed that this author can write so many fantastic novels, I hope that She never stops writing. Her books are some of the best Entertainment I have read and worth the time to read them. Thank you for a very fun entertaining read.
You will love book 2 in the "Maggie Edwards Adventure"!! Full of edge of your seat adventure!! You will think you're watching a great adventure film! Great series!!
I love the excitement of following clues to find the three Egyptian ankhs. Plus throw in some bad guys who are trying to steal the banks from the main characters and you have doubled the excitement. Then add some relationship drama, and I was hooked on the book.
