記得是在2013的書展上買的，一直拖到現在才緩慢地把它翻開。

初閱讀時，覺得裡頭的人物很難捉摸(尤其是雜誌社的同事們)彷彿他們只是一張臉譜，有著不同的表情跟姿態，但很難把他們收束成立體的人物，尤其他們又都僅只一個單名(但名字不本就是承載個人性最少的符號嗎？)，不過到後面的章節舒張更多互動後，總算能夠在想像中將他們慢慢具現。

整篇小說是由主人翁觀看喬、瑤兩女的記錄構成，喬西化，而瑤堅信傳統價值理想，也斯似乎透過主人翁的觀看去審視香港處在西化進步和發揚文化傳統間的曖昧矛盾，但有趣的是兩個女子都覺得自己不被瞭解、被錯待；而瑤情緒爆發自述理想全都失落的那段更是讓我心有戚戚焉。

而也斯在這本小說裡也表現出對語言、文字表意能力的質疑，但矛盾的是又不能超脫對語言文字的依恃，因此我們會看到許多碎裂的符號，像是黃的剪貼情書，又或者是編輯雜誌時對文字不斷拼貼重組的過程，甚至是剪紙繁複的圖像，彷彿文字的不確定性和香港當時變動的不穩定互相呼應。
