I began writing dark erotica in 2014. I found that it really irritated me how authors bring down their male leads and make love stories sappy. I continually began to feel unfulfilled with reading. So I wrote a book how I like to read it. I find that although my stories are full on and seem a bit much, so many of my readers have connected to them. I try to tone it down ever so often in my books, but I find I write better the harder the material I write about.
1.5 Stars As this was an author that I've never read before, and based on the high price and some cautionary recommendations I'd seen, I downloaded the sample before getting this one. I was sucked into the story, and the writing while different, wasn't anything that I couldn't get through. Unfortunately, all of that changed once I purchased the book and got a little further into it. The writing was chaotic, there was bad grammar and worse editing, characters and storylines came out of nowhere. And I'm all for anti-heroes, but this guy wasn't even that in my mind. He was outright abusive, throwing her, punching her, knocking her out. And once hit her hard enough to knock her down when he knew she was pregnant with his kid. I put up with a lot in my dark books, but that was too much for him to ever come back from. Besides him being a wishy-washy, indecisive and unfit mafia leader, he constantly chose other people over the woman he was supposedly already in love with. Basically nothing in this worked for me after the first 10%.
Book 2 of the Bach series. Moses falls for his lawyer while she is trying to get him out of jail. He falls in love with Elle and after dealing with his family’s internal war, he just wants her to love him back. This takes lots of effort. Just when he accomplishes the goal, the family is at war with each other and he has to let her go to protect her.
Adam & Bri just can’t get it together and we see them throughout this book in small pieces. Of course, Mary is still hanging around so I am sure more to come with this story.
