Wow! Not what I was expecting...it was so much more!!

4.5 Very Entertaining Stars

I picked this book because of the name and cover, with a snicker, thinking I'm getting a short smutty read of tentacle erotica. I was very wrong. This was a great SFR love story, with very alien aliens. In my opinion, it was pretty realistic, in it's storytelling and reactions of a human, Mandy/Tiny, that wakes up in the presence of three giant humanoid octopus hybrid aliens, who believe she is a pet and treat her accordingly.

Mandy, "Tiny", was a huge syfy fan and always thought she would take the existence of aliens well, yeah nope, she screamed and passed out...twice lol. But she then pulls herself up by her bootstraps and makes the best of the situation. Tiny realizes her 'captors' don't mean her any harm and goes about trying to get them to see that she is sentient and trying to communicate with them.

Third/Seven, I know his name is confusing but when you read it you will understand, is one of three naive, well-intentioned Homeworlders that came into possession of their new pet, an Urf Oomon (Earth human), lol. They don't quite know what to make of her, but she is so cute and smart, and so easy to train, buahahaha.

I grew up watching Star Wars, Star Trek: The Next Generation, DS9 and Voyager, Battle Star Galactica, The X-Files, and Fringe, so I love weird alien kookiness. I found this story tremendously entertaining! It pulled me in and I read it in one sitting. I just fell in love with all of these characters. I loved their curiosity, their open-mindedness, and their ability to open their arms to create an unconventional family.

There are some steamy bits with tentacles involved, but that is not the main focus. This is a love story about opening your mind and heart to someone different and working through any issues those differences bring. About not judging a book by its cover.

I highly enjoyed this. It was well written, and incredibly inventive. If you are open-minded about loving someone "alien", and like Tiny willing to take a leap, give this one a go, you might be pleasantly surprised like I was. I can't wait for the next installments.

Even though this is an ARC review, I will always shoot you straight. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

From the first sentence you’re inundated with the sweetest adoration. This is because our tentacled aliens believe urf oomans to be pets rather than sentient beings.

I haven’t read a lot, in fact I believe this is only my second book where humans are confused as a pet. But omg I love it, if you have recommendations I am all ears.

Seven and Tiny are the height of cute. When he believes she’s a pet, he’s the perfect caregiver. And once he knows she’s sentient, he struggles with boundaries because he cares about her so much. Then, when they become romantic he’s so possessive.

I loved that Tiny made her situation work, like Tim Gunn said from Project Runway, “make it work.” And that girl thrived, I loved all her art she painted around the ship. Especially that the boys not only embraced it, they made it profitable for her. Especially after they realized she’s a sentient being.

Tiny was also a girl that knew what she wanted so she’s the one that took that step and kissed Seven. Fortunately he was into it and it quickly escalated from there.

Honestly, the steam wasn’t as interesting as I had hoped. Because I figured those suckers would come into play. But I was actually happy with how hot it was because those tentacles don’t need any recovery time. 😉

Overall I loved the introduction of so many interesting characters, especially Baht, I can’t wait for his book. I’m excited to see where we go from here.

Oof. It always hurts when I have to give an EH review to a work a lot of other people seem to be enjoying.

That's me. Again. Sigh I'm going to rant, and when I rant, mild spoilers pop out....you've been warned.

So.

This one is underwhelming.

Perhaps the glowing recommendations I saw for it set me up for a let down, but I was expecting something more original from this work.

Something less clumsily written.

Something without dozens of typos. So. Many. Typos.

Something without so many obvious inspirations from other authors in the genre.

Something where the plot and pacing make sense.

This story is cute enough on its face. It all-but-fades-to-black, so I put it in the...clean category, and I liked Mandy well enough as a protagonist. The cover art is fun and adorable. That isn't where the issues lie.

This story needed some really strong alpha or beta readers who are eagle-eyed and merciless about pointing out things that need clarification or work. I only recently learned that one is able to submit typos to Amazon on works self-pubbed with them, but there were so many in this one that I was afraid it would get pulled down on the author if I started flagging them. I'm not sure what the magic number is for that, but there are just so many in here that I didn't want to chance it. None of the errors cause issues with understanding the text, but there's only so many times one can see "if" missing the "i" or pin vs pen, etc, before she starts to eyeroll because yet another one popped up on the page. Like, even a basic word processor's spell-check is better at catching some of those than nothing.

Anywho.

The pacing in this story is weird. It flies over sections that need some explanation and attention but get bogged down where little is actually needed—we get it, nothing to eat but noodles. No, we do not need to hear throughout the story about 10 different kinds of noodles from the replicator. They have different lengths of pasta. Some are sweet, others savory. Fantastic.

Seven's characterization is all over the place. I didn't know what to make of him. But apparently mate guarding means suddenly transforming into an OTT possessive alphahole.

And those are the more minor quibbles I had with this. Let's dive into a couple of the bigger ones.

The central idea this story is based on is flawed and didn't work. The idea that humans are mistaken for pet-pets by an alien species is never going to work for me in an alien romance, I don't think. There's too many layers of ick involved with it, including that idea that pets can be for f*cking if you find yourself attracted to them, which these stories often hinge on.

I mean, really, think about that for more than 5 seconds and tell me it doesn't make your skin start to crawl a bit.

For a scifi story about humans kept as actual pets that works, check out Amanda Milo's Pet Project books. They are romances, but human ones as viewed by their alien caregivers/breeders. They're quite interesting and novel reads.

Sometimes "pet" isn't meant in a literal sense, but more as a euphemism for sex slave, but that wasn't the intended case here.

Pet. Like a dog. Which is made very clear.

So.

We have these alien species—multiple—who somehow think that humans are pets because...small and do not speak anything their translators recognize as speech. Even though they acknowledge that they run into previously unknown sentients fairly regularly. Really, they all seem to have taken the word of a species they all think are untrustworthy slime balls that humans are non-sentient pet animals. Which 2 minutes of proper observation would have immediately proven false and should have ended this whole conceit long before Mandy makes it to Seven, let alone the blue dude he acquires her from.

But Seven and his ship mates are really, really f*cking dense.

She's painting literal murals of coral reefs—which they recognize as such—and they still think what a cute, smart widdle doggy they have. Despite the fact that no other pet creatures are able to create anything except unintentional damage to their surroundings.

She sings songs. Dances. Fashions herself clothing from cloth she sees sitting around. SHE IS BUILT SIMILAR TO MOST SPECIES THEY COME INTO CONTACT WITH.

Nope. The pet dealer and these three all see a dog.

I. I really could not with this one. And apparently neither could Mandy in the beginning, since a couple of times she called them out on, "not even trying," to see her for what she was. In a review for a different story that riffed on this theme (Riv's Sanctuary by A. G. Wilde), I commented that in these stories the aliens actively choose to see humans as animals rather than being confused and mistaking them for non-sentient creatures, because anyone with any observational skills would figure out very quickly these are yet-unknown People.

But white humanity has conveniently animalized anyone they want to abuse and commodify to justify doing so, so I shouldn't be surprised that an overwhelmingly white genre loves this theme and keeps framing it as innocent misunderstanding. How could they possibly have known they were exploiting and trafficking people for profit? Riiiight.

Complete idiot sandwiches. Homeworld isn't breeding them smart, that's for sure.

Too much of this story was dedicated to this conceit—more than a third—but the star seeding theory, which is also so popular in SFR to explain inter-breeding compatibility, was just whooshed over in a mere page or two.

Okay then. Those were...choices.

For a first effort this isn't bad, but with a little more time spent in edits and drafts and polishing, it could have been a stronger story than what was released. It's cute. Honestly. Bebe, if you were foolish enough to read this review and have some Feelings about it, go write some more, yeah? It's a skill. And these are just my opinions.

------------------------

The problematic ding on this book is a slight one, which applies to to first epilogue and gets hung up on the idea that our environmental issues are directly caused by our population size on the planet. This is...a racist diversion to place blame on the people using the smallest amount of resources and taking focus off the corporations who are causing the lion's share of the pollution that plagues our planet. Population growth emissions can be easily counter-acted by wealthy nations' using fewer resources and spear-heading less toxic and efficient solutions.

https://www.vox.com/energy-and-enviro...

Like how Coca Cola wants you to get worked up over plastic straws when they're the number one contributor to plastic pollution on the entire globe. (Yes, if those who do not need to utilize the straws use different options that
does help, but it's a tiny fraction of the issue and doesn't have the impact necessary to effect change because they are not the actual problem.)

Likewise, yes, curbing population growth will be necessary in the future, but it's not the biggest contributor to global warming and climate crisis—we can absolutely control the factors that are causing the issues and change them. Today. Then we can address the more minor issue as a group effort with resources and support.

Right alien romance, right time, this was a perfect Saturday morning read for me while drinking coffee! I don't know why I put it off for so long, but friends have enjoyed this series and one of them rereading a book in the series is what prompted me to give this another look. This is a light, funny, and adorable sci-fi with tentacles (so if they freak you out, they feature heavily throughout).

Third/Seven (he's renamed later) (H) starts off the story with a surprise intro to a new species while trading with another alien. He takes one of the female aliens on to his ship to help her heal from an injury as a favor to the other trader, even though there are strict laws against pets on his Homeworld. His brothers/crewmates are concerned but they're all quickly attached. Mandy/Tiny (as she's known to the aliens) (h) is abducted along with other humans and is terrified and overwhelmed at first, but quickly figures out that her tentacled crew consider her a pet and she's actually well cared for and given lots of freedom on their ship, including access to art supplies. Language and cultural barriers are problems, but once the language is fixed, the story settles into a great one of them understanding and bonding with each other. There's humor, loads of sweetness, a touch of danger/suspense, and a couple of darker themes that aren't glossed over but not dived into either. Written in first person, dual POV. No ow/om drama (H is jealous/possessive) and it did not appear either was a virgin (no history given).

I found both Mandy and Seven to be likable and fun. Mandy tries to have a positive attitude and she's pretty cheerful, even when she has concerns. She does have thoughts about how worried she is about other humans, both the ones taken already and the danger to the ones still on Earth, but she also understands her own limitations. I loved how she bonded with Seven, although the flip from her liking him to wanting to test drive those tentacles was kind of quick. Seven was a cinnamon roll and I loved all the details given to his character from the colors he'd change depending on his mood to him wanting to handfeed her to his protectiveness. The physical intimacy between them is a slow burn but there are a couple of steamy scenes, and this does feature breeding fyi.

Supporting characters are esp fun in the book from Seven's two brothers to fans of Mandy's art (because she starts selling art, which was awesome). One of the fans causes suspicion at first whether he's a danger to Mandy, but he ends up being not only a great friend, but critical to Seven and Mandy getting a HEA. He was my favorite character after the main ones and I'm really excited for his book in the series once I get there.

There is a touch of angst in the story when they are separated (not voluntarily) and there's also a time when Seven worries about his relationship with Mandy. But overall there's just an easiness to the story that kept me engaged, laughing, and happy. I did wish that the ending had an epilogue. It ends with Mandy and Seven together and in love, building a little family, but with a cliffhanger epilogue of one of Seven's brothers in dangers, leading in to the next book. Because of the overarching plot, I'm guessing there couldn't be an extended epilogue and I do see from other reviews that Mandy and Seven are in the other stories. I just love my epilogues to give me more about the main characters in their books.

This story did have some grammar errors here and there and the writing style wasn't perfect, but the feelings I had while reading were just what I wanted. I'm excited to continue the series!

Ich mochte das Buch, okay. War es das best-geschriebene, was ich je gelesen habe? Nö. War es fucking unterhaltsam? Aber hallo. Waren alle 3 Aliens Cinnamon-Rolls? Zum Anbeißen.

• Urf Oomons bedeutet Earth Humans.

Sorry.

all those tentacles

Yes… that’s exactly what I mean 😅 that’s a lot of fing… ahem… arms 👀

And yes. I went there 💀.

It starts off in the hero’s POV- Third/Seven (no age given) is trading a species with another alien… the species being a human one 😅 one that’s injured 😬. She’s in a stasis pod when she wakes up… except she wasn’t supposed to 😬. Third and his crew mates end up feeling some type of way with this human, one that they consider a pet 😅; yes, the treater as if she’s a domesticated pet 🫣. There are times when this pet makes noises, so there’s definitely a communication barrier.

Mandy gets abducted from earth while working her day job, doing people’s makeup and acting as a backup dancer 😅. When she wakes up, the aliens that are taking care of her are actually really nice- even though she’s terrified since they are ALIENS 😬 ones that have tons of tentacles 😅. As time passes, her fears diminish; she gets fed, clothed, given art supplies, and entertained 🤷🏻‍♀️ what else could we ask for 💁🏻‍♀️ lol?

Eventually, Third get a translation device and starts understanding Mandy 👏🏻 and this is where it all takes off 👏🏻.

Because as time passes, these two get closer 👀
But so many things could happen, especially when there are other species needed to take into consideration 😬.

What I like/loved: POTENTIAL SPOILERS
—okay… hear me out… but… TENTACLES!!! 🥵. As in… SOOOO. MAAAAANY… ARMS… 😮‍💨. Yes. THATS what I mean 🤣. The way Third/Seven uses them should be a crime 😉, as in, a crime to not use them 🤣😅👀👀👀. Let’s just say that he takes advantage of being able to use multiple arms at the same time, especially when it comes to holding her down 🥵💦🔥

—the 🔥. Ummm… it’s officially my first read with an octopus/humanoid hero 😅 and I ain’t mad at it 😉. We get some mouth pressing close to 60% followed by Third/Seven using his arm to… ahem…. 👉🏻👌🏻 Mandy 😅🔥

—the world building… especially when it comes to making babies😅. Hey… don’t knock it till you try it 🤷🏻‍♀️

—the times I giggled 🤣. ERMAGOD… the breeeeding talk had me 🤣💀. See. Miscommunication happens and so many things are either lost in translation or translated wrong 💀🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

—references 👏🏻! I love the alien references

—the side characters ❤️. I’m intrigued to read the next one 👀

—SEVEN’s colors!!!! 🥹 ERMAGOOOOODDD! Those were the cutest!!! I love LOOOOOVE that we see what his moods are based on his colors 🫶

—hand feeding her 🥹. Seven’s so concerned with Mandy’s lack of “survival” skills (like how she doesn’t have claws 🤣) that he hand feeds her lol 💀 but also 🥹❤️❤️❤️

—the sweet stuff ❤️. Gaaahhh. Seven is always so attentive and willing to do anything for Mandy. I mean… this woman paints and does artwork, and he just looks at her like a doting puppy 🥹❤️

—the times Mandy gets praised, just like a pet would 🤣. I was 🤣🤣💀💀💀

—the suspense and “angst” 😅

—the babies 🥹

—SPOILER- but it also made me CACKLE 🤣
“You said 'Seven, breed me!' And I did. Then you asked me to do it again, and so I did. Four times, you asked me to.” “I said, 'Fuck me,' not, 'Breed me.'” I enunciate clearly. “Tiny, please do not be upset. I can hear that you are saying two different words. They are both translating to 'Breed.' Is this not an accurate translation?”

—the pre-epilogue and epilogue ❤️. Ummm… seeing the hatching made me feel gooey inside… and I’ve already borrowed the next book because of that epilogue 🤣

What I wanted more of:
—more interaction so the switch from “pet/owner” to love interests was more seamless

—I didn’t like the separation 😒. Sigh. It was too long!!

Overall, I loved this ❤️

⚠️safety squad⚠️
-no cheating/sharing/owd
-the h is a “pet” but one that’s taken care of 🤣
-no virgins/history on them
-no “condoms” used on the “arms” 😅
-unintentional breeding 😅
-HEA/HFN (epilogue is a different character’s POV)

Alrighty, lemme try to get this all typed out while it’s still fresh in my small mind. 😵‍💫

This felt like such a long book? I can’t believe it’s a novella, it felt like it was never gonna end. 🙈

Anyway. I LOVED the first half. Seven treating Tiny like a pet, carrying her around and combing her hair, petting her, running his claws through her mane while purring omg I loved all of it 🥰 Does that make me weird? Who knows, it was cute, I loved that he continued the petting/purring behavior after being able to communicate.

I’d say meeting Shawn? Was where my enjoyment started to waiver a little, Mandy and Shawn’s interaction was weird.

I believe RL mentioned this in her great review as well but the flip from pet/owners to breed-mate was very sudden. I would’ve appreciated a more seamless transition but I even found the sex to be .. weird? So I guess nothing makes that much sense and it’s just meant to be a silly story but I have the ‘wants more’ gene so I was finding myself wishing that the story could be a little more series at times because I really enjoyed the premise and how it all started.

I loved Lu and Ken too, tho I wasn’t the biggest fan of Baht ? Only because I know he gets his own book and he sorta seemed to be a little infatuated with Mandy here and I don’t really like to know that the book of another character has to move on from his crush cos that person is already taken so he ends up with someone else. Does that make sense? Who cares, who’s even reading this.

Let’s carry on - I completely started tuning out and lost interest when Mandy started her art business plans and whatever to hire bounty hunters.

I also lost interest when the gang was separated and Mandy was just mindlessly roaming the ship for weeks? Until Baht came to save the day.

Who knew spamming the government? Would get them to return the beings they kidnapped. The whole pregnancy thing was also handled kinda weird but that’s me again trying to have my gene come into play.

Overall, it was still a mostly enjoyable read, I liked the first half a lot better. I’m curious about the next books as I really liked Lu and I hope he gets a good human for himself and from the epilogue it looks like she’d be calm and quiet whereas Mandy is energetic and chatty.

My ratings always reflect my enjoyment of the story.

This book is super hard for me to review. I think Ann Aguirre set too high of a standard for alien romance, or maybe I'm too picky. The story didn't flow, some things were too detailed, others didn't have enough details, Mandy and Seven were meh and Baht was super intriguing even though his main role was deus ex machina.

And the misspellings didn't help. How hard is it to google words - or look into paper dictionaries - to figure out that a huge building is not hanger but hangar, it's not infinate but infinite, and if you hit someone so hard they lose consciousness, they are knocked out, not nocked out.

I have a small list of things I (really!) did not like, but first, the good stuff :

This is the story of one human woman that was saved by an alien from a slavery holding in space. She was brought on his ship and made acquaintance with his two other alien-bros (it won`t turn into a love triangle).

The plot was parted in two: her perspective and his.

I liked that the action was believable and was not placed senseless, without a clear reason.
The interaction between the characters was cute. It wasn`t cringe, as often times is made to be when one girl in outer space encounters a furious looking alien.

This book was so surprisingly well written that it even made me curious of H.P. Lovecraft`s Cthulhu (who are briefly mentioned). I did not expect that from a book chosen exactly for its “pulp-ness”.

What I did not like

As much as I enjoyed it, there were some parts that not only did I dislike, but I disapproved of, enough to make me stop my reading and jot them down. For each of that moment a wave of nausea and fury smacked me in the face.

--I did not like the origin story of all the creatures in the Universe. It went like this: all “aliens” were the ancestors of the humans, all aliens were some kind of derivation of the human from Earth.

--I did not like the insertion of a particular plot device: the kidnapping of the alien`s friends just to produce some tension. The alien friends were kidnapped by other aliens. The protagonist did almost nothing to rescue them (not that I wanted to skip countless pages full of redundant description of valiant efforts that would be proven unnecessarily). They came back after a few months as they were released on some accords. But that kidnapping was useless in the first place (or at least, it worked as a weak excuse to let another character space to develop).

--I also did not like the idea that the aliens were against contraceptives. They claimed that they were useless because they could abstain from impregnating if they wanted to. As if!!! She should put her trust in the alien she has just met !!!!

Overall, not a bad reading. It helped me through a though time.

3.5 sweet sci-fi Stars

If you read my reviews, you know that I’m a sucker for unconventional titles and/or covers… I just can’t resist, so when I saw this one… instant click. When I started reading, I initially thought this would be a fluffy version of THIS or THIS, but the longer I read, I decided it’s more like THIS or THIS or THIS.

This is a slow burn between Mandy/Tiny and Third/Smallest/Seven (7 from here on) an octopus-ish alien. The relationship develops from pet/owner misunderstanding to friends to lovers, and 7 is total alien boyfriend goals. Tiny is quite likeable herself.

Bottom Line- I liked it. I’ve been on a romantic, sweet “alien” alien roll, and it’s working for me. But, if you’re not in the mood for fluffy, or can’t imagine octo-man/human sexytime… this might not work for you. It’s free to read on KU, and book two dropped today.

I rounded this one up after pondering it for a while.

Mandy is rescued (sort of) by Seven (he's named this by her later with some funny references to Star Trek) to use his regen pod after she's injured during an abduction. Seven doesn't want to let her go and she ends up staying with him and his two other tentacled friends on heir space ship.

Feelings develop. There's surprisingly hot tentacled sex and mating. Yep. Mating. You'll need to read it to find out how that works!

I really enjoyed this though I wasn't that enamoured of Mandy. Seven was sweet and I loved how the author referenced humans as always so sweet, adorable and he wanted to cuddle them all the time. If you want to look deeper, you can find some social commentary on how folks treat each other, including slavery and sentient beings as pets. I wonder if this was deliberate given how intelligent squid/octopi are supposed to be and having seen a giant one trapped in an aquarium many years ago, I can believe it. That creature stared right into my soul!

We meet Ken, Lu and Baht (the spider dude) and there's a backstory of slave trading and and how a girl makes a living in space. For those that know me, she's blessedly doesn't strip, wait tables or bake!

This was actually a very refreshing take on this trope and I barrelled straight into book 2 (Lu's book)

This was such a fun book. Seven is a character. This time around, I listened to the audiobook and it was a blast to have the dual narration. Now that I’ve read the series, it’s sort of fun to come back and relisten while I wait for another book to be released. And get to see some of the upcoming heroes before their books.

I enjoy seeing humans described from the perspective of aliens.

First reading. adorable and bizarre.

This was cute? I love that Mandy was kept as a pet for so long. And that she rolled with it. The interactions were fabulous and I loved all the characters. I wanted more. I guess I’ll be checking out this series!

I've decided to make a move on Seven. I know, scandalous right? At first, when I started developing a crush on him, I was kind of shocked at myself because obviously, he's not human. If I'm attracted to someone who is so completely not human what does that say about me? After a bit of introspection, I've decided I'm okay with it though. All the things about Seven that make him so alien, I find interesting now. And things that terrified me when I first saw him, are exciting to me now. Like, what would those fangs feel like scraping against my neck? Or those claws, how would they feel if he were to grab hold of me or scratch me?
The main thing though is the tentacles.

This book was FUN! It dealt with the uncomfortable topic of humans being stolen and enslaved in a new way: the hero, a tentacle monster from an alien race with a bad reputation, is a trader and comes across a man who acquired 22 "urf oomans" (Earth humans) - which he says are pets.

The hero takes a sick one to medically treat, but decides to keep her as a "pet". He literally thinks she's like a cat or puppy, not capable of complex thought. It's so funny.

The quick pacing and dynamic writing kept me engaged and I definitely want more from this author. Rounding up to 4 stars!

So, I really liked the characters in this book.
I liked seeing them interact and grow to care for each other.
And all the alien species were fascinating.
And Mandy’s art. That’s so cool. I wasn’t expecting that.

But also, I was expecting waay more smut.
The sex in this book was a little steamy, but it was also pretty vague and glossed over a bit.
We didn’t really get much dirty talk. We didn’t really get a description of what Seven looks like.

It was frustrating to say the least.
I am a smutslut, for sure, and I was totally expecting this to be a smutty read with how everything is depicted and the emphasis on the tentacles.

Then the pacing.
It’s a little fast and it skips and just summarizes things at times, but I kind of enjoyed it.
We got fun moments with the characters and then when there were lulls it basically hit fast forward.
It kept me from feeling too bored or wanting to skim, so I sort of appreciated it.

Again, I really liked the characters and how they interact. It was amusing and sweet.
I just really wish there was more smut. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Oy

This book is a perfect example of telling instead of showing.

Even ignoring all the many typos, this was a hot mess.

It’s pretty much a very amateur mash-up of other peoples work, including but not limited to: Riv’s Sanctuary and Tiffany Robert’s Kraken series. I felt like much of the story was being read to me, like summarized. It was kind of bizarre and I couldn’t finish it.

I found this story super cute! The aliens seeing humans as non-sentient and thinking of them as pets was adorable. Very fun concept.

Obviously its awkward for Mandy as she trys to get them to understand, but the guys find her adorable and take care of her. Admiring her artwork and exploration, finding her a smart creature and entertainment.

Mandy is lovely and almost too talented, however it worked towards the plot and i enjoyed her finding a place among them. Her use of artwork in an attempt to communicate further and how seen as decoration, the intrigue from aliens towards earth as they learn about humans.

The romance between Seven and Mandy is rather sweet, as they figure each other out and attraction. Very soft feels and the steam is great!

I adored the side cast too and would love to see the story of Shawn & Sal. Looking forward to Lu next and Baht is interesting so excited to see his romance. Ken is wonderful too.

Overall an enjoyable fast paced story with entertaining concept. Interesting cast and world building. Rather abrupt and open end, as epilogue explores the start to next book 💕

This was a surprisingly cute story with interesting aliens, a likeable and - even better - somewhat realistic female main protagonist and easy to follow world building, even if quite simplified.

I refer here to Niki's review, who put my feelings about this book much better into words than I ever could.

I have laughed outloud at this book. Could be that I am a closet Star Trek fan and the references in this are just so apt and appeal to my sense of humour or just that it is a really funny book. Going with the latter to be honest. I loved the characters and alternate POV is one that works really well here. You do end up caring for all the characters and they are wonderful.
"Seven" is not your typical hero and is not that humanoid so if you are not keen on a non-humany alien this is really not for you

Third (Seven) thought Mandy was a pet. Mandy and some others were abducted by aliens and then given to another alien who thought humans were pets. This alien has no idea what to do with them and asks Third for help. One human is hurt and her offers to help her. This book was interesting and I am curious to see what the characters are due next.

strange in every way I expected and hoped

By this cover alone and don’t ever change it I grabbed this book. It lived up to the oddity expectation I had hoped for

Yessss. A little alien abduction, a group of sweet, tentacled aliens (who are not the abductors, mind you), and one spunky human woman who doesn't mind a few extra appendages on her dude. I'm in.

Mandy is abducted, which is not good, but she's acquired (for reasons of a completely non-squicky variety) by an alien who ultimately has her best interests at heart. Third/Seven (Third is his alien designation, Seven is the name Mandy gives him) might not realize his new pet is sentient, but he treats her kindly and well all the same. And once he does realize it...HEH. He's in for a surprise because Mandy isn't turned off by his tentacles and such.

As for our lady, she's resigned to what's happened to her (alien abduction happens, right?) and she's more than thrilled when she can actually communicate with Seven and the others. And those down low tingles she gets whenever Seven is around aren't terrible, either. Especially when it turns out he kinda has a thing for her, too.

Yup, tentacled aliens and the human ladies who do it for them are my thing. *thumbs up*

the best part of the book was when brothers were treating her like a pet. it was funny and adorable.

i struggled with perception of their proportions. how bigger seven was then mandy? also time went by too quickly. suddenly she was there with brothers for months or without them for 3 months.

i wish there was more romantic stuff. i wanted to see a morning after. but seven was abducted and mandy was left alone and pregnant.

didn’t appreciate the pregnancy trope.

Good enough if one has a few hours to kill. It introduces a lot of different kinds of aliens and starts off nicely. At the end it feels rushed and the non-pregnancy plot happens mostly off screen.

I loved it soo much

This book was very enchanting. I wasn't sure what to expect but this story was very compelling. I found it comforting and romantic in an odd safe way.

Interesting enough but not a 5 star. HEA but enough left up in the air at the end that I'm not sure if I want to read the next one in this series.

Unabashedly high-rating for this fun romp that doesn't take itself seriously at all and is ridiculously cute for a tentacle-alien story.
