Gosh, don't you just love it when an adaptation takes its source material and systematically strips it of everything that made it unique until what's left is a story that doesn't stand out in any way whatsoever? I sure don't!
Look, I get it - the original novel is dark and it deals with upsetting and sensitive material. But its those things that set it apart from its brethren and make Violette more than just another reformed villainess, because the novel makes you question whether she ever was the real villain in the first place. By robbing the story of most of Violette's trauma and fast-tracking the plot, it becomes just another story in a very crowded genre, full of cookie-cutter characters rather than people with their own motivations and inner lives.
I might have liked this more had I not read the novel first, so if you're planning to read both, start here for less disappointment. But if you're only going to read one version, go for the original. This is a case where it really is better.

I can't believe I let this book sit on my shelf for so long! I've had this sitting on my shelf since June and after reading it tonight for the 25 Days of Manga, that is farrrr too long to have let this sat there doing nothing!
What an excellent read this was! I remember picking this up for the cover during a manga shopping video I filmed and because I remembered a friend recommended it on her Instagram. However, I distinctly remember this also being around the time that I started showing more interest in the reincarnated-as-the-villainess trope, but was leery to try that "genre" and chose this one since time rewinds back a year.
In a way, I think I enjoyed this more? Well, maybe not more per say , but it was different because Violette isn't trying to right the wrongs of anyone who had suddenly died. There is no changing of memories and trying to figure out what happened. It's more of Violette is still the same person, but now has the strong desire to not make the same mistakes that led her to prison the first time. Even with going back in time, she still doesn't love her half-sister despite her second chance, and for that, I was very intrigued.
This was a fairly quick read since it's not a long manga, but I also devoured that last portion of the book! I really enjoyed how things are not what they were from when Violette remembers because now her "good" actions are changing things around her, including how people react. It is so good and loving that "twist"!
With that, I'm going to add that I am hardcore #TeamYulan! I will be SO bummed if he is not the one Violette chooses in the end. Prince Claudia seems he will have a change of heart and don't think a certain someone that is not Yulan or Claudia will actually be a potential love interest? Goodness, I hope not! (Even though I like the character well enough.) I just really love her friendship with Yulan and appreciated that bonus chapter/story at the end. I would even be content with them just staying best friends and nothing more. Just please don’t let Violette end up with Prince Claudia or anyone else!
The art in this manga is absolutely stunning! It has a lightness that I really enjoyed. And speaking of, while I have heard the manga version is a MUCH lighter version of the light novel, I really enjoyed and appreciated the lighter tones. It was a good read when I needed something a little lighter!
I'll definitely be ordering volume two as soon as I can and keeping up with future releases hence forth as I must know what happens next!

Not fully certain how I feel about this yet. It's a slightly different twist to the villainess story in that there's no death or reincarnation involved. Instead the lead goes back in time where she tries to "fix" problems before they arise. I read that the source material is much darker, so I worry about some of the depth being removed from the manga, but I'll have to see as I read on.

I really liked this story and the way she went back in time because she was in prison lol.

I loved this one so much! This manga has gorgeous art and a plot that deviates from the norm and keeps you guessing.
The main character is a teenage noble whose father took up with a mistress, fathering another daughter, while leaving her mother to die of grief. She resents her father, stepmother, and especially her stepsister, whom she torments and even tries to murder. Then...suddenly she wakes up and it's one year ago, before her relationship with her stepsister became irreparably broken.
The story starts at the beginning of the time-restart so you don't actually see her pestering her stepsister; rather, you hear her recount all the ways she's changing things this time to ensure she doesn't end up in prison again.
I think my favorite thing is the way the main character, instead of tormenting her innocent stepsister, tries to help her. She rescues her from bullies, tries to set her up in a romantic relationship with the prince she herself had previously pursued, and even teaches her to play the violin beautifully so she can show off at the school's annual talent show. She keeps telling herself she hates her sister but she can pretend she doesn't, but her sister is coming to adore her and I am hoping genuine affection builds between them.
Boys are taking notice of the main character now in ways they didn't before. The prince, whom she had basically harassed and annoyed, misses her now that she's not constantly pestering him for his attention. Others seem impressed by the way she stands up for her little sister, who is bullied because she was born out of wedlock and her mother was a commoner. And her best friend from childhood is obviously in love with her. Really hoping that relationship works out, but right now she's oblivious to his feelings!
I enjoyed all the characters and hope to see more of the ones that only made small appearances. Right now there are only four major players: the main character, her stepsister, her hottie BFF, and the prince. Some mysteries have arisen regarding relationships and past deeds that I'm interested to discover. I will definitely continue this series!

This was a lot better than I thought! I was afraid this was going to be a shameless "My Next Life as a Villainness..." knock off, but it definitely has enough of its own ideas to stand on its own. The two things I loved the most was how important self-reflection played a role and how chivalry is seen in series like these.
While Violette has to reflect on her actions in order to avoid making the same mistakes, what I appreciate is that she acknowledges that what she did was wrong. Not only that, but she even admits at times that its understandable how she got into the situation she was in because of her past actions. Granted, I feel like this would hold more weight if readers actually got to SEE the terrible stuff Violette did to Maryjune or Claudia, but what's done is done. Still, I appreciate her giving her past serious thought and properly acknowledging what she did wrong and why it was wrong.
I really appreciated Yulan calling out Claudia for his supposed "chivalry" as well as opening up that discussion in the series. It hadn't occurred to me until Violette and Yulan brought it up, but in situations like these (Violette bullying Maryjune, Claudia standing up for her and falling in love with her) how common yet absurd it is. It pretty much shows that Claudia, and other men who behave like him, aren't interested in girls like Maryjune as much as readers think; he's just playing the role of the white knight, saving and protecting the damsel-in-distress from her enemies. But as this series shows, when Maryjune isn't in that situation, Claudia has no interest in her. I know this isn't anything new and I'm sure other entertainment mediums have discussed this, but I appreciate it being brought up mostly because I didn't expect it.
Anyway, I really enjoyed this first volume and am looking forward to more. If you're looking for a fun historical romance with a dark undertone, give this a try.

This was so much better than I expected! We follow a young duke's daughter named Violette, who tries to murder her illegitimate half-sister. She passes out in prison and wakes up one year before the events take place, with a chance to redo her past mistakes.
I love the art, it had all of the romance fluffy feels. Prince Yulan is my favorite, he's my baby and needs to be protected at all cost. I highly recommend this if you're looking for a romance with a different spin on the isekai formula.

I must admit when walking into this manga, I held a bit higher expectations solely due to it's premise. However, I'm extremely glad I purchased the light novel aside this after seeing the reviews. It just felt like something was missing in the plot. The art work is absolutely stunning, however, there's just not as much to the backstory as one would have hoped to see.

Jag älskar mangastilen oavsett vilken nationalitet den som ritar har och har därför läst en hel del. Just manga på svenska är en bristvara och därför vill jag gärna vara med och lyfta fram dessa så fort jag får chansen. Just den här boken är väldigt fin med en sleeve runt och med en del färgsidor, det är ett sort plus. Bilderna och historien är minst lika fin, men det finns ett stort minus för min del och det är språket, eller översättningen kanske man borde säga. Vissa meningar låter direktöversatta eller rent utsagt konstiga. Jag hakade upp mig på flera meningar och felstavningar som helt enkelt måste vara slarvfel. Jag anmäler mig gärna som frivillig korrekturläsare vid behov, för jag har språkgranskat manga (dock översatt från engelska till svenska) tidigare och det viktigaste är hur det låter, inte att översättningen blir ordagrann. Hur som helst så rekommenderar jag den här mangan – det är nog få som stör sig på det som jag gör – och läser gärna mer så hoppas att fler volymer i serien kommer ut på svenska!

I like that the former villain is turning away from being a bully and changing.
I don’t like how the author is pushing for a classist system and support for it. The thought that someone is better or more important than another based off of money, land ownership, age, titles, etc is false.
When the FL tells her younger sister that nobles are what commoners look up to so they have to be better than commoners just made me feel gross. Both are just people. Nobles aren’t better than commoners, never can be and never will be. Then the prince is in a wow over the FL for saying that and starts chasing her after that throughout the book.
The younger sister is constantly looked down on for “acting” like a commoner. Standing up for herself from bullies, she gets look down on (this was where the FL gave her speech about not standing up for herself and that only commoners would support this. Aka the less ‘important’ people. That’s when the prince starts falling for the FL after her classist speech, yet everyone keeps saying the younger sister needs to learn to fend for herself. She tried but then she got scolded and told not to.). Saying ‘break a leg’, looked down on. Saying the tea is delicious, looked down on. For being born a commoner then turned into a noble, looked down on.
Formerly, the prince was all over the younger sister of the FL and supported commoner ideas. Then he wanted the FL dead because of trying to commit murder. This was all before the FL went back in time.
What I don’t like about the prince is that he is wishy washy and is easily swayed. Not a romantic candidate I’m fond of considering that the FL chased him and he tried to avoid her but the moment she stops trying he is interested. Not a fan of this trope. Doesn’t usually work out very well in real life.
Personally, I’m rooting or Yulan because he genuinely cares for the FL and has her back. He’s her friend but he clearly likes her.
I would rate this 5 stars, but the push for classism from the author has influenced my decision to rate 4 stars instead.

(This review covers the first 4 volumes, which are all that have been published in English to date).
There's nothing hugely original about this one, which is both good and bad. I let a few weeks go in between finishing it and writing this review and I can barely remember anything that distinguishes it from the others in the genre. I had to go skim read it again to remind me who was in it and what they did. That being said, the reason I read it so quickly was because it was so much fun! it doesn't make any mistakes - the characterisation is good, the art, the plot, the humour, the stakes (sufficiently)... all good. It does start getting a little soggy as it progresses, but the introduction of new characters and continued interpersonal drama keeps it ticking along.
It's got some of my favourite tropes with regression, thwarted good intentions, and unexpected consequences for rewriting the original story making the MC suddenly super intriguing to everyone around her. There's something irresistibly funny about Violette's determination to become a nun only to find the implementation of her plan a lot harder than expected.
The story later deepens and we see more of Violette's backstory, as well as getting little hints about why and how the regression occurred, though still no concrete answers on that one. The family relationships in this are really complex and rich, and the characters are very real as a result. I genuinely feel for Violette and Mary June.
Like most books in this subgenre, there are a plethora of attractive men who all become obsessed with the FL and she's mostly oblivious to it. Usually, I don't feel the need to pick a side, but I'm rooting for long-time friend Yulan in this one.
Overall, lots of fun, but nothing to make it stand out as a favourite that I'll remember for all time. It probably doesn't help that it's not finished so there's no memorable ending to recall, but I can hardly blame the author for that.

I was looking at Seven Seas to see what upcoming manga and light novels and saw this.
The premise intrigued me. Noblewoman Violette is sent to jail for her crimes of trying to kill her sister, Maryjune. As she lays in prison, she wakes up one year earlier, before any of the events took place.
Armed with her memories, Violette vows to no repeat the same mistakes. She just wants to get through graduation so that she can join nunhood so that she can get away from her father, family name and her sister.
But things are also not going as they did in the other timeline. Prince Claudia where he belittles and blames Violette. This time he is approaching her more and even apologizing for laying blame before getting all the facts.
Violette also does something she didn't think she would. Help her sister in time for fest where she plays the violin.
Her friend Yulan seems nice enough. He obviously care foe Violette. His relationship with Claudia makes me curious. It is stated that before Yulan never paid him no mind, but now he is seeking him out.

Violette’s parents had a political marriage. Her mother was obsessed with the Duke, but he couldn’t stand her. Ultimately, he leaves with his concubine, but Violette is forced to reunite with the estranged Vahan family once her mother dies. Similar enough to other Villainess tales with Otome vibes, that the description and opening scenes make you check your book list to see if you have already finished this series. However, the artwork is decent and the text is not overwhelming with world building exposition. Outfits, hairstyles, and shading help differentiate the similarly aged characters. The ripple effect of her change in behavior is immediate but not much occurs in this beginning arc beyond the realization that there were people who cared for her that were overlooked in her angst.

Violette was sentenced to death for attempting murder on her half-sister. However, she was eventually placed in jail due to her young sister's mercy. While in her cell, Violette wishes she could re-do her life. That wish comes true.
Flashing back a year prior to the sentence, she is able to re-do her actions and change her ending. I have to say while I do not agree with the actions Violette previously makes in her past, I do understand where she is coming from as a child who was practically neglected/thrown to the side. .
I actually really love Violette as a character so far. Her little sister is not bad either. I'm enjoying seeing Violette open her eyes towards the world she missed as she was blinded by her anger previously. It is also interesting to watch how the prince is in somewhat turmoil with his feelings towards her. I usually dislike the idea or possibility of love triangles, but I do not mind this one.
Likewise, I'm excited to see where this goes.

I really enjoyed reading this! I can't wait for the next volumes. I absolutely love the otome isekai genre.
I Swear I Won't Bother You Again! follows our MC, Violette, who is guilty of attempting to murder her younger half-sister out of a fit of jealousy. In her last moment, she is taken back in time when her sister was first introduced in her life. Violette decides to take this opportunity to avoid repeating her previous mistakes that ultimately led to her death.
When I first read it, I thought it was really refreshing to see the story's unique take within the larger otome isekai genre. That is to say, there are a lot of series that focus on our main heroine being reincarnated into a romance game or novel usually as the villainess or side character. However, this was the first series where I saw the main incident being related to time travel rather than reincarnation. Yet, it still hits the same beats as previous reincarnation stories.
I won't lie, I don't think everyone will be interested in this series. However, if you really like the genre or enjoyed My Next Life as A Villainess, then I'd recommend picking this one up!

This is my first time reading the "reformed villainess" plot and it was not what I expected. This seems to be dealing with very serious child abuse. Flashbacks up to volume 2 are hinting that possibly it was more serious than physical abuse. I don't know, but if it was like that, and this is labeled shojo, I don't thing we'll get the details. I don't know if I'm glad about that or I want to know what really happened to Violette. Maybe I will also pick up the novel later and see what bits are missing, because clearly there are a lot of gaps in here.
Oh by the way. Can't we not have the prince for like, a chapter? He's so unlikable, REALLY. And please, Japan, please learn that latin names have feminine and masculine forms. All the boys with names in female form made me CRINGE, because I actually live in a place were they are used. Try finding someone born male that was named Claudia, I challenge you.

I truly enjoyed the book. The main character Violette seems truly so sweet and I am happy that she has changed her ways and become better.
I can tell prince Claude is feeling something for Violette. (not exactly romantic feelings) Perhaps he is a bit surprised too see her act this way towards him especially after she kept falling for him and had changed her mind about him.
But there is a character I can tell that truly cares and perhaps loves Violette. Sir Julien. I can tell Julien truly cares for her and would protect her with his life.
I can tell that there truly is somewhat a connection between Violette and Julien.
But after reading vol.1 of this series I know it will be good. I really recommend reading it. (At least vol.1). There will probably happen some stuff for the main character and I’m all here for it if I’m being honest.
But seriously. Read it. It was amazing. 10/10

Sometimes predictable but well done is just what I need. This is the typical do-over of a villainess becoming good. The difference with most other mangas is that she was accused of a crime that she actually did commit! She attempted murder on her half sister. Violette craved love and affection all her life, but despite being sweet, she was always neglected, despised or ignored. After her (neglecting) mom dies, her father comes back with his mistress and daughter. Violette is jealous of the love and affection her sister gets from her father (and everyone else). In the do over, she goes back in time to the day her sister arrives at her manor… her plan is to avoid her and live a low profile life to ensure she won’t end up in prison… obviously, nothing goes to plan.
I like that the main character struggles to be good, to not be jealous and resentful.

Con esta historia me pasa un poco como con la de 버림 받은 황비 que me encantó la historia desde la página 1, muy interesada y encantada, un estilo de dibujo precioso, entre muchas otras cosas... La protagonista es la viva imagen de cambio después de un error, odio a su padre que por mucho que entienda que haya sido un matrimonio sin amor ahora no tiene ningún derecho a tratar a su hija de esa forma... ¡Ella tiene una paciencia increíble! y eso de que ahora el principe Claude esté viéndola más y esté tan interesado en ella... es un proceso a analizar de forma detallada porque creo que sé lo que ha querido transmitir, de que antes solo veía el interés de ella por la posición y era (aunque buena niña) algo estirada, ahora la ve muy cambiada y eso le interesa, haciendo que le llame la atención.

Similar to The Abandoned Empress, our protagonist has a horrible fate in the beginning of the book, only to wake up back in their own past while remembering what happened in the future. This sets them on a path to try and change their own fate, but in doing so, things don't pan out exactly as anticipated. This time around, Violette is determined not to end up hated and lashing out at her new half sister and wishing her happiness with the prince.... except the prince seems to be taking no notice in her sister and instead is seeking her out. At the same time, Violette's old friend, Yulan, seems to be taking a more proactive role in the story and certainly seems more interested and involved than just a friend.

it’s a little slow for me, and i’m still unsure whether to truly like the crown prince as the male lead. yulan is nice, but i don’t feel much for him either. time has rewound for vio, and she’s now trying to avoid her tragic fate. her relationship with her sister is complicated — with a father who treats them differently and a sister whose cheerful personality contrasts sharply with her own struggles, navigating her feelings isn’t easy. i’m hoping the pace will pick up soon.

Violette is sent to prison for attempted murder on her step sister. When she passes out and dies from being under fed, she is reincarnated/brought back in time to about a year ago when she first meets her step sister. Vio decides to learn from her past mistakes and tries to avoid any conflict so she doesn't repeat history.
This was cute and fluffy. There's not too much going on at the moment. Hopefully, volume 2 will have more depth.

This time, Violette is determined to lay low and not let her jealousy get the better of her. But what if things don't quite go according to plan?

pretty generic in terms of the 'villainess is sent back in time and tries to do everything differently and avoid the male leads, only to then inadvertently attract the attention of the male leads' genre (WILD that that is a whole ass genre now but i support!!!), but still enjoyable nonetheless. It has its unique moments and the characters are fun so far, will definitely be continuing!
