"Who told women that accepting a man's bull made you wifey material?" Anonymous Kenya-Marie Monroe finds this saying out the hard way, just like a lot of females. Growing up in the same neighborhood since their early teenage years, Kenya and Dikembe Brown know of each other, but their different lifestyles keep them from crossing paths and even speaking to each other. Very familiar with the ladies, Dikembe's cocky ways and reputation are another reason why they keep to themselves. That all changes on the eve of Kenya's eighteenth birthday. Attending a basement party with her girls, Rachel and Simone, the last person she wants to see that night is her ex-boyfriend Stephon and she definitely didn’t want to meet Dikembe. However, destiny has other ideas, influencing Kenya and Dikembe to share not only their first dance together but to share a lot of other things that night as well. And they live happily ever after. Nope. Not even by a long shot. Dikembe and Kenya's relationship is no fairytale, consisting more of thorn bushes and sad music than roses and love songs. The ups and downs that they endure is all too familiar, but will their relationship be able to stand the many tests of unfaithfulness, lies, and betrayal? Or will Kenya just be another statistic of a woman loving the D more than she loves her own dayum self? People dream of having that fairytale type of love. For Kenya and Dikembe, they soon learn that their relationship is no ordinary love, especially when under the influence of addictive and power D and chaos seems to be at every corner. In this new riveting new African American urban standalone, Kenya and Dikembe's journey through a life full of love and turbulence. Discover if they can find the solution to make things work as a couple or live life separately.
Dikembe really must have had that cocaine d cause he had Kenya and Krystal addicted like a fien. I and also plenty of other women have been in the same or similar situation as Kenya. To love a man so much that you lose yourself. From the jump Dikembe was no good for her. And just like Kenya, Krystal should have thought more of herself than just a jump off, but hey she did have him first. A person can only take so much and Kenya had finally had enough. Now Kembe feels that same broken heartedness that Kenya felt every time he messed up. I'm glad she finally found her happiness even if it was as a single woman.💘💘
I for one enjoyed this book and how it touched on things that some women and girls both go threw daily with dealing with so called dudes and not seeing their own self worth. Never love anybody more than you love yourself. Then there's the mental help topic in this book that's something I deal with daily. For some it seems like such a taboo subject to talk about when it shouldn't be.
Dikembe really did a number on Kenya. He would’ve kept on, but she eventually grew a much needed backbone. Krystal can have that headache that comes with him. Chaos has found his future but now she’s in the wind. With his determination, I’m sure he’s gonna find her and never let her go.
This book was a nice steady fast pace read... The flow of the book was nice and smooth... It brought the drama and had me feeling some type of way and just wanting to be able to sit and have a conversation with some characters... Because they were definitely getting on my nerves and I only wanted what was best for others... I liked Kenya... She just needed some help... She was a good girl and so young and naive to all the games that these men play... She was able to escape the grasp of one boy only to fall pray to the next one... She let that Cocaine "D" pull her in and capture her... And once she fell... it was so hard to escape the web of lies and deceit that came along with it... The addition that she had to the "D" caused her to allow things that she knew she shouldn't put up with just go... But at what cost to her... Dikembe (Fang) just took full advantage of this young naive little girl... And just continued to play games with her... Until he used her up and broke her... He was also so young minded because he thought that he could fix everything with sex... And for a while this was his problem solver... Because of him being greedy and wanting more than one woman... It all finally caught up with him and cost him everything... Now as for Krystal... I do not even know what to say about her... I mean she just seemed so desperate ... Because she went so hard for Fang and trying to get his attention... Yet he never went hard for her or made her feel like she was anything more to him than an easy F*#&... Yet she actually thought that she was in the competition for Fang's heart... and these little games she kept paying to get a man that did not want to be with her did nothing but make her look ridiculous... What she went out of her way to do to break up Fang and Kenya back fired so hard on her... Because now she is a single mother and Fang wants absolutely nothing to do with her because of what her actions caused... I am glad that Kenya finally woke up and seen Fang for who he was and made better decisions... She was able to get that monkey off her back finally and get what she deserves... Happiness... Fang thought that he could just keep playing these games forever... But now that it has finally backfired on him he is so scrambled... He has no idea how to handle it and is lashing out for no reason... He didn't appreciate what he had while he had her until she walked away... I guess now Krystal will finally get to see how non important she has always been to Fang...
Candy, this read was very new to me from you. Although, you really portrayed many woman that have lived or are living that life. Sometimes we think we are getting the best part of the man or we feel the things he tells us makes us feel that he loves one more than the other when in reality no one is happy but the man. Dikembe was the only man Kenya had ever had. He molded her to just except anything he said or did to her, and he felt she should be okay with it. Finally after years of letting him say and do anything he wanted Kenya finally learned to love herself enough to let him go and live for herself and her son. Chaos was Dikembe brother and he had some deep rooted skeletons going on inside of himself. He had a traumatic experience as a young man and that was when he became Chaos. But Chaos knew Dikembe was wrong in the way he treated Kenya and Krystal, he always told him one day your gonna miss a good woman, and that's what has happened. I love how you touched on how African American households used to keep anything that was a bad situation hush hush not knowing that stops a person from healing. I thought it was a great read! I can't wait for Chaos and Paris. I know it's gonna have me on my edge
This was actually a good read with it being your first ! I know you had to be a ball of nerves doing this lol , but I’m pretty sure you’re more than satisfied with it! (Well you should be ❤️) I guess being a stand-alone everything was straight to the point but not missing any details! The issues you addressed are very familiar ones and you did a great job executing your thoughts! I’m left to wonder what happened with Kenya and Stephon, as well as Fangs and Krystal 🙄 lol ! I just know Chaos and Paris is going to be a hit but not an easy one, from my thinking they both have a past that isn’t all great but I think them as one they’re sure to conquer success together ! Cuddos to you Queen 😘
Kenya aka Rudy had no lucky with love or with Dkembe aka Fang. Losing her virginity to him as a teen, going on to be the mother of one of his children and the door may that he repeatedly walks all over. No matter what she does or tries he continues running back to Krystal, who Kenya know will accept him every time because she’s okay with being the side piece. Kenya has to reach her realization that Dkembe isn’t going to change it value her worth so In doing so she finally moves on from this toxic relationship with him and learns to love herself. I really loved Nkosi’s storyline as well. Hope he finds his mystery womab Paris because he is definitely cut from a different cloth than his brother! Excellent read 10/10
This book was different! It wasn’t the drugs or anything like that! It touched real life issues that we may all go thru! Man Dikemba was a man that loves women and when he couldn’t keep his woman because he wanted to dibble and dabble with another or cost him the woman who loves him the most! No she stick with a baby and trying to just better herself and be a mom! Love couldn’t get no better! Now chaos o can’t wait for his story! He had a lot of ossubit he didn’t let that get the best of him and I like it! Now let that man find his wife because she tripping lol
Omg Kenya was so gullible Dikembe was a dog he loved no one but himself. Kenya gave her heart yo the wrong man and got it broken until she finally had enough. Dikembe finally realized the grass ain't green when he ended up alone. Definitely worth the read I wanna see Kenya and Stephon build a love so beautiful that Dikembe cry lol. Can't wait for Chaos and Paris storyline hopefully has an update on everyone else.
This book was a good read. Kenya, was very naive and gullible young lady. Not knowing the difference between love and lust. Being in love with a selfish young man, who love only himself. Dikembe, was always thinking with the wrong head. Realizing, too late what he really had. Hopefully, its more to their story with Stephon thrown in. I can't wait for Chaos and Paris story. Great job Candy Moore.
Wow dikembe had some nerve I'm glad Kenya finally got some sense to leave him alone he wasn't no good at all Krystal just so stuck on him like he would just only want her she is just sad her and dikembe deserve each other I felt so bad for choas for what happened to him he went though a lot now I see why he was moving the way he was I hope he get to find Paris maybe she will make him a better person
The only reason I didn’t give this story a 5 star is because I didn’t feel completion. We know Rudy has moved on but how did that journey turn out? After reading the author’s note I know some of these characters may be mentioned again so I can’t wait to read Chaos’s story and to see a peek from past characters. Good job!
Dikembe wills his charm, good looks, and powerful D over the women in his life. Kenya and Krystal both look foolish for putting up with his trifling ways and behavior. I'm glad that Kenya finally wise up and chose herself, her sanity, and her peace over the continuous toxic vs that she accepted.
This was a good read. All I know is Dikembe tore my nerves up, Kenya was exactly how she described herself and I couldn’t take it I like to of through my iPad.... Frfr... Krystal to, Dikembe needed a beat down and Kenya needed a backbone! Bring me Chaos and Paris story please
I started this book and knew it was a hit ,finished it in about 3 hours! lmao! I could so relate to the whole situation of just being a woman and thinking love can change someone and in that process losing yourself! So glad she chose herself though, I would low key love to see them together 🙂
Wow….I loved this relationship story. I remembered being in love with my ex husband and he use to pull stuff like Dikembe back in the day. That’s why he is an ex! I was extremely proud of Kenya. Happy Chaos was pulled out of that depression state. I cannot wait for the Chaos and Paris story. Great Read
THANK YOU MS. CANDY MOORE. YOU WROTE ABOUT REALISTIC LIFE EVENTS. FEMALES TEND TO LET THE "D" CONTROL THEIR EMOTIONS. WHEN REALIZATION HITS, THAT THERE IS NO CHANGING THE MALE WITH THE BEST "D" . MATURITY SETS IN AND YOU REALIZE YOU ARE WORTH AND DESERVE BETTER. THANK YOU FOR THIS STANDALONE.
We must put ourselves first. Kenya was a strong young woman to put up with the shenanigans of Dekembe. But some men never think about now and present in the relationship just selfishly supply their own needs. Kenya had to find herself and when she thought enough was enough she took back her power. Good read!
I can’t wait to read about Chaos and Paris cause I know she got a story to tell and Fang is bogus he thought she was supposed to except all that bullshit him and Krystal deserve each other great story
Uhmmm okay. I enjoyed that this story took you on a journey of young love lust foolishness stage to trying to figure it out. I was an okay read and in need of an editor, but was a complete story.
A fantastic storyline that most ladies can relate to, we’ve all had that one, or maybe dealing with him right now! Character development well written. I enjoyed and recommend this five star read. Looking forward to reading more from this author.
Great book. Kembe thought the gras was greener on the other side. I'm proud of "Rudy" . It may have taken a while but she did it. Chaos has came a long way as well and I can't wait to read is story.
Everybody played the fool! As women, we all play the fool sometimes. But baby, once we BOSS UP, WE BOSS ALL THE WAY UP!!! That's what Rudy did, she bossed up on Kiembe and moved on. Lesson from this book, KNOW YOUR WORTH LADIES!!!!!
This was great! Kimbe was a dog for real. Kenua was dickmatized but in the end I was really applauding her. I can't wait to read Chaos and Paris story. Definitely 5 stars!
Omg I m glad Kenya doing dikembe like this it s a shame he ain't bout nothing. Ever since they was kids same old person. Glad Chaos is turning his life around.
That damn Dikembe took Kenya up through there and back again. I was wondering when she was going to walk away. Cause it was clear as day that he wasn't going to change.
