★★★★★ - Kelly Desalis is an amazing author and writer and I definitely recommend you read this book and series and you will definitely not be disappointed.
★★★★★ - Kelly has given another captivating novel that I personally think is her best yet. I could hardly put it down!
Publisher's This book is a standalone story based in the Romantic Suspense genre. There is some violence and drug references in this book. No cliffhangers.
A good plot, but found the ending rushing at me like a speeding freight train. A lot of time was taken to lay the basis and then the finale was rushed and over before you could wipe your eyes out. There was not really enough time to realistically fall in love and plan how to get out of a bad situation, which could have ended badly if family became involved. That being said, with more flesh to the romantic development and build up to establishing a proper run orphanage with a healthy cash flow, Stallion and Claire could be on the way to their HEA. I would have liked to rate this as at least 3.5 stars and will definitely be reading more from this author to be part of her growing process and see the ratings escalate. I received a copy of the book via a promotion and this is my honest and voluntary review.
This was a short romantic suspense that packed a lot of into clean book. It won't take you long to get caught up with Claire and John emotionally. He's still suffering from PTSD and war hangups. She's a caring soul who runs an orphanage for neglected children. What happens when she finds out that the cartels are using her business as a front for their drug dealings. Does John become her protector. Does this help him regain his purpose in life? The characters were likable and this was a good book but rather short. I read an advance copy via the author and voluntarily chose to review it.
The Complicit Setup by Kelly DeSalis is a quick read. The plot has some value, but it leaves a lot of questions such as: What about Carlos? What was in the duffel bag? Who watches the kids while Claire is shopping or having lunch at a diner? I received a copy of this book from the author and I always review every book that I read. I misplaced this book in 2021 and just found it and started reading This was about 120 pages, so I read it quickly, but I felt that there were too many loose ends. Sorry.
It was a good story from the start. I really got into the game, my heart rate accelerated and then... it was finished. What happened??? Yeah. The end happened. A tid bit too fast and short for my gusto. Sorry, but that’s a no go! Such a real good book without a real good end....ok, so there is an hea, I think but I would love to someday find an second edition in double length with no loose ends please pretty please!!
I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. I loved this book. it was a great fast paced quick read, romantically clean, and they really deserved the HAE.
