German. I have TWO copies of this, because the first one was already pre-owned and then loved to death (and that's not to suggest it isn't well-made! It is very sturdy!). The baby (now toddler) cannot get enough of this book. The front cover is already exciting - slide the tab to reveal the fuzzy chick inside the egg! Cannot recommend this highly enough - was tipped off by an early childhood educator to this one. Das Apfelwunder, by the same publisher, is not nearly so good...
