Wow...Smart, Sassy, and Action Packed!!
I have to say that I love this cover, that it's what initially caught my attention and interested me in this book. I have no problem admitting I read books all the time because something about the cover struck me. But let me just say, this was phenomenal! I didn't even know that Eija, the h, was a woman of color until I started reading, and she was definitely the breakout star of the show! What a breath of fresh air.
I loved Eija. She was so alive and real on the page. I can picture her so clearly, beautiful with a presence that draws people to her. Eija's crazy curls framing her face, blood red painted lips with secrets behind her eyes. She was smart, fiesty, and had nerves of steel. Quick witted with snarky zings yet loyal and passionate, Dom didn't stand a chance once he was pulled into Eija's orbit. He knew she was something special and he wanted to savor her.
Dom was no slouch either. Sex God on a stick but intense and deep. Dom was every woman's wet dream; strong and confident yet sweet, soulful and not scared to be vulnerable. You know, bad ass with a heart of gold. I fell in love with him right along with Eija.
Dom and Eija together was electric. Their chemistry was intense and hot. Like fire and ice. The tension was built so expertly it was like two trains speeding towards each other and you just couldn't wait for the impact, the explosion, the fire. And it was FIRE!
I'm literally struggling to find the right words to convey how much I loved Dom and Eija together. Their pull was so magnetic I couldn't stop reading. I didn't even sleep because I couldn't put this down. And to ratchet this up even higher, this enigmatic love story was interwoven into an action packed, political bratva thriller that has twists in the end I never saw coming.
I'm so glad I took a leap on this one. This was amazing! I don't even have one single complaint, except I'm sad it's over. I enjoyed this so much, I wish Dom and Eija were real and living this amazing HEA that they fought so hard to have and deserve. This is one that's gonna stick with me for a very long time.

the plot was good, i just didn’t care about the relationship? like idk there were no fun tropes like they basically liked each other immediately and i found that boring.

I’m going to start off this review by saying ... I wish I had book amnesia, so I can read this story—again, every time—like the very first time. In fact, I wanted this story to be another 600 pages because Eija and Dom are my new favorite book couple of the year! 😆

Andrei (Dom) and Emerald (Eija) meet in paradise where the sun shines bright, the women are beautiful and the drinks are strong.
Having completed her latest assignment, Eija is up for celebrating with some sexy fun times. This heroine is everything! Beautiful. Smart. Strong. Capable. She’s a grown ass woman that owns her choices, and she’s not afraid to ask for what she wants.
Andrei totally agrees with me. He finds Emerald refreshingly forthright—not at all afraid to ask for IT, and that’s some HIM! They go out on a date and she shows him the island few vacationers ever see. He discovers he loves her personality, humor and flirtatious nature.
Afterwards, he realizes one night (you’ll be surprised) won’t be enough, so he asks for more days and nights, both of them understanding and agreeing that the end has an expiration date.
SIDEBAR: When he offers to hold her sandals, I was a goner. 😍
They part ways, but fate has other plans. When they find each other again (this is NOT a spoiler as Dom and Eija), they have to once again resist their chemistry and focus on their jobs.
His to become The King, hers to bring The King down, by any means necessary or required in her arsenal, in which there are plenty of options, with no hesitation, nor regret. Will they succeed or discover that duty and honor cannot be two separate things?

Didn't see that coming so triple takes needed!
OMG but Dom and Eija's steamy story was very, very engaging and kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire book!
There were twists and turns, intense actions scenes and loads of sexy time. This couple, this couple will keep you guessing and then saying well, well, well!

This lovely excerpt is from a conversation between the H and his father, both of whom are white. Our main h is decidedly not. I think the author is trying to portray old bratva values but it’s not landing for me. Also, this book was written by a black author which somehow makes this worse for me.
There’s several instances of fetishization before this but I decided to dnf here, at the 25% mark. I’m sick to my stomach.

Sooo Good, So So Good!!!!
OMG, this was extremely good!!! From start to finish this was sooo so good. The chemistry between Don and Eija burned so hot it jumped off of the pages!!! Eija, our little firecracker wanted Dom fast quick and in a hurry. I loved the way he calmed her down and got to know her, they actually spent quality time together before they did the deed and that was the foundation that built their relationship. Throughout this story they found a way to love each other and take care of each other while covertly doing their jobs in taking down the Bratva. Dom was not a joke, he would slice your neck and shoot you without hesitation, and Eija was no slouch either the way she man handled Dom in the penthouse. Kudos making Eija, Dom’s handler without even knowing it 👏👏👏!! I love that you wrapped everything up in a bow for us, from baby Shiloh to Yuri’s demise and Pavel getting his son. Why didn’t you let Dom get his revenge on Colin. I think it would have been justifiable if he popped him just once 😂😂😂. Anyway Great job K.Alex Walker, great job!!! You turn the hits out and I love it, what’s next!!!!

Very entertaining story, with lots of hot steamy sex scenes!
Unfortunately loved how the story unfolded, it was so action pack I had to re-read some pages. Loved the characters Eija and Dominik were fire crackers together.
I liked all the characters and the storyline, there wasn't a moment that was boring to read in this book. The twist towards the end was unexpected and well thought out.
I'd like to read more about these two, not sure on the story plot but it's a nice to have.

I was fully prepared to give this 4 stars until the 85% mark. I almost gave in to the urge to skim through the rest. Once it was revealed that they were both the feds, it became much less interesting.
It’s so unfortunate because I enjoyed everything else. Eija and Dom are perfect for each other, with great chemistry and amazing sexual tension. But both of them being cops took away the allure of it all. Also, everything was far too easy once it was revealed. They got together just like that, and nothing interesting happened for the rest of the book, making me reconsider how I felt in the first 80%. Like was it really that good?
The choice to make them both cops was even more puzzling when you realize both are just fine with killing people in cold blood? At one point, Dom kills Liev for coming on to Eija, and afterward, they sit in the room with his dead body. Which. Fine. It was hot, but also, they were cops claiming they’re better than the people they’re trying to take down when they’re just as likely to kill someone for no reason and have a trail of bodies behind them.
We also never got a real explanation of why Eija was hooked on finding Dom. It was all just very confusing. However, I did enjoy this author's writing style, even if it is in the third person, but I wouldn’t reread it. And the lackluster turn it took makes me apprehensive about checking out Pavel’s story.

Dominik, aka Andrei, meets Eija, aka Emerald, at a resort. They spend a few weeks together where they know each other thoroughly and give free rein to their passion, until Dominik disappears.
A year and a half later they meet again in Moscow. It turns out that Eija is the babysitter for his little brother Nikolai. He has returned to Moscow to take his place in the Bratva and she is there to spy on them.
It has hooked me from the beginning. The love story between these 2 is great, the connection, the chemistry ...
I loved it because I have been taking surprises little by little, in addition to the fact that the characters are great, especially Eija. I love a strong female character and she is a badass.
It is the first book I read by this author but it DEFINITELY WILL NOT be the last.
I recommend it.

Amazing
Ok let me start this by saying Dom is my new favorite Alpha, K Alex Walker never disappoints. I don’t think I was ready for all the twist and turns this story took. So glad Yuri got what he deserves after what he did to all the innocent people he hurt. I promise you won’t be disappointed in reading Dom and Ejia’s story.

It was a great book overall and I enjoyed reading it although sometimes I kinda got bored with the plot.
The first 30-40% of the book I ate up like there was no tomorrow. The plot, the spice, the character and their chemistry.
But then idk it felt like the tension got lost, even though yes the storyline in itself was something big with the whole him being a mafia member and her hunting him basically.
It was interesting to see how they reacted with them knowing they can’t be together and so on. But the last 20% just where too much. Too many „plot twists“, too many secrets and it just felt so unrealistic. Wish they would’ve showed the characters growth and anger and everything that comes with situations like that. At times it felt so unrealistic and sooo cold.
And the biggest question I have : how did pavel have a video of Leah lying in Eijas Bed??? Why was there a camera and whyyyyy did he have access to it???

Pretty Good
I really liked this book a lot until the last 20% when the plot twists became increasingly unrealistic for me. There were so many plot twists that it was hard to keep up, I had to reread several sections to make sure I was following the plots and subplots. Also, the characters behaved in ways that didn’t seem consistent with who they were in the beginning of the book. This is my first book by this author and I really loved the book in the beginning. I hate giving it 3 stars but the end of the book dampened my enthusiasm. I’m not even sure I will read the next book in the series, maybe I’ll try some of her other books.

This book had me gripped from the start. I loved the interaction between the two main characters. Their characters personality’s was so well developed that you can’t help smiling along with their banter. Also a very cleverly written story. Definitely recommend! Oh and can I just say that cover!!!!

This was the fist book I have read by K. Alex Walker and must say it was very good. This book had a ton of twists and turns in it and kept me wanting more. Just when you think you understand what direction the book is heading, you get a curveball tossed your way. You have to give this book a read.

I liked this book. The plot is full of surprises and twists. If you like mafia books, you will really enjoy this one. Action, danger, mafia... and some steamy scenes.

This was a very good read! I loved how this book started off and the flirting between Eija & Dom. It was so natural. I was feeling so giddy reading and about them and their love story! I was screaming in my head like “ Where’s My Dom” like literally swooning!! He treated like she was everything and the only thing that mattered to him😩😍❤️ The serious moments got hectic but those two were embedded into each other couldn’t get enough of each other, they were stuck together for life. They were a big surprise that took me for a loop! Like Whatttt??!! But it was a happy one! I was like you go girllll! I wanted that little surprise/ shocker for them both! The love was real! I truly enjoyed this read! Y’all go check this one out❤️❤️

The Good
This was a book that took me completely by surprise with its plot. There were so many twists and turns and with its fast pace, it took me on a wild ride trying to figure out what was going on. The chemistry between Eija and Dom was undeniable and I loved them together. Any parts that confused me or that I questioned a character on all made sense later and that is the best feeling as a character-driven reader. As someone who usually isn't into big action plots or suspense, this book took me by surprise and was awesome!

The chemistry between Eija and Dom was undeniable and I loved them together. Any parts that confused me or that I questioned a character on all made sense later and that is the best feeling as a character-driven reader. As someone who usually isn't into big action plots or suspense, this book took me by surprise and was awesome!

It's not my first time reading this author's work. So far, it is good. Plenty of action by the main character Dominik (Dom) Sokolov. He takes charge and exacts revenge when people threaten the family he's built with Eija (Asia) and his young son Niko. The storyline has that mystery/thriller aspect. And each character is introduced and fleshed out.
Very good writing. My time was well spent reading Book 1 of this 2 part series.

EIJA HELD HER OWN IN EVERY STEP OF THIS BOOK. SHE DIDNT COME OFF AS SOME DAMSEL IN NEED OF RESCUING AND SHE STOOD UP FOR HERSELF WHEN NEEDED. I LOVED HER CONNECTION TO HER ROOTS IT WAS A BREATH OF FRESH AIR READING ABOUT A CLARA FROM THE CARIBBEAN.
this book had me on my toes with every chapter. The hunches I had turned out to be soo wrong and the plot twists definitely added to the tension in the book. This was my first mafia romance and I can say i loved it and will be perusing the rest of the series.

too many time jumps like cmon man I wanted to read abt certain scenes not just read that they happened?????
also one of the plot twists was kinda lame imo and very unnecessary since it basically added nothing to the plot. and while im at it, the other plot twist was also a little lame idk. Just needed MORE WRITING!! i appreciate them not using a basic trope but honestly seems like the author just didnt want that conflict. It needed more. ://
their relationship was cute ig, nothing too crazy

I started this book and couldn't put it down. I startes slowing down when I was close to end not wanting it to finish.

Loved this book!
Excellent read that I couldn't put down until the very end. Would recommend this book to not only IR and mafia romance readers but to all readers who'd like to read a well written book.

wow, 3 dnf’s this year. two of them back to back. anyways.. I just couldn’t get into this. Didn’t feel any chemistry, couldn’t care less about the characters. not going to force myself to finish the book

So it took me a minute to finish this book, one because I work crazy hours then I thought the story started out good but then got kinda slow. But once the action started I definitely didn’t put it down until I finished it. The plot twist was crazy I swear I didn’t see any of that coming. My only curiosity or confusion is why the scene with Yuri and Gideon, with Yuri being who he was, he could have put it on anyone.
