I got an ARC so this review is my honest, unbiased review.
This book started out great. I loved the premise of having a movie director/writer MC and also loved the positive affirmations used by the female MC Dr. Melody. My favorite being: “Focus on what you want; forget about the past and what you can’t change.” 💯
The story is about a movie director/writer, Femi Bakare who tho separated from his wife still has a soft spot for her and is a caring and loving father to his two teenage children.
His ex, Dr. Melody, though still in love with her husband, has a successful medical practice and is proudly and happily living her life as an about to be divorced woman.
Though following separate events, the couple gets an opportunity to go to Twin Bliss Resort with both parties unaware of the others presence at the resort.
Seeing this storyline, I was eager to see them run into each other and thoroughly entertain myself with the euphoria of two people rediscovering love and second chances, but the author completely disappointed me with unbelievable storylines.
I know it’s fiction, but WHAT? How would a married couple, separated or otherwise, see each other and not recognize themselves! Puh-leez. I don’t care if they’ve been separated for so long, you can’t convince me that a man would see his wife’s rear and not know she’s his wife.
What got me angst the most were the endless repetitions and mentions of the Marula. I get the author’s attempt to add a bit of magical realism to the story, but, abeg, make it believable. I saw through the plot and was just rolling my eyes all through.
I’ve read and loved this author’s other works but this one didn’t do it for me at all! It lacked structure and a definite plot line. 🤦🏽♀️ Yes it touched on child abuse and all, but the entire story was so scattered. It was as if she was unsure which direction to take the story. Which really pissed me off because I so wanted to like it. 😭
Don’t even get me started on what happened at that Testi night! What the heck?! 😫
I DNF’d it 80% in, I couldn’t deal. I hope another reader finds a better experience reading this because I didn’t. 😣

Whoosh....I finally get to finish...by the way, I'm super proud to complete the different books in the #twinblissresort series. This is my first from Lani Leigh and it was beautiful. This was fun, witty, had a blend of mystery and romance plus lovable characters that infused good vibes into the book. Then, the epilogue.....that ending left us with our imaginations running wild, was it deliberate 😁😁.
Thank you for bringing out mental health awareness and the truth that those affected should learn to speak up and seek counselling, and that people are low-key suffering from the aftermath of things done to them earlier on in life, which is why we should be more open about this things.
I got this as an advanced readers copy and this is my honest review.
It tickled my imagination and left me wanting excitement, the Marula drink and a trip to the resort. The words were skillfully weaved and reading was an experience in itself. I'd love to read more from L.
