Blackhaven Manor #5

Pixie Little Liar

Rate this book
There’s a heaviness to the air, the kind that makes the hairs on the back of Emrys Whitehill’s neck stand on end. Something is going to happen. Something big. Something that will change him forever. Despite his powers of precognition, however, a hellhound walking into the hotel to arrest him for a crime he didn’t commit is the one scenario he never saw coming.

As a seasoned bounty hunter, Cyrus Rathborne thought he had experienced it all, but realizing his most recent target is his mate throws him completely off his game. While he can’t deny the connection, Emrys is wanted for the murder of a royal, and he won’t let those big innocent eyes deter him from doing what is right. Yet, the more he gets to know the sweet pixie, the harder it is to shake the feeling that the guy might actually be telling the truth.

He should have trusted his instincts.

It soon becomes clear that someone is determined to make Emrys disappear—permanently—and the only thing standing in their way is him. Transforming from hunter to protector, Cyrus will risk everything to keep his mate safe, because what started as just another job is now the one mission he can’t afford to fail.

I love Emrys, and I'm glad he found his mate. I was nervous in the beginning about whether Cyrus would hand onto his belief Emrys was guilty just because the Ministry said so. Of course, these books aren't meant to drag out any conflict between the two mc's so I shouldn't have worried.

Pixie Little Liar

Framed for a murder he didn’t commit and worst arrested by your fated mate in the same day, sound like a crazy story right? And it was! It was full of suspense and mystery. I loved trying to figure out what was going on. The characters were also sweet and crazy for each other!

Tropes:

-pixie/hellhound
-fated mates
-mystery
-‘I’ll keep you safe’
-over protective alpha

I stopped at book 4 and had a feeling I shouldn't continue. I was right. Emrys was probably the book I was looking forward to the most. It felt like his character was overshadowed by the plot. It went prison escort, protection mini road trip to get every couple cameo going, murder mystery and ended with a scooby doo plan. There wasn't much to Cyrus.

It was more about the accusation of murder than about Emry and Cy mating. Depending why you picked up the book, this is not an issue at all.
I did expect this book to be similar to the others, and therefore I was not in the right "mood" for it and in the end disappointed.

It’s a fabulous story. it’s characters are a real joy

Rating: 4.5🌈

I can’t begin to tell you how much I’m enjoying these adorable supernatural romances by Arden Steele. They go by so quickly and smoothly. Although each is a fated mates trope, Steele manages to put such a interesting spill on every new couple’s story and matchup, that I eagerly anticipate what I’ll find with the new tale!

Emerys Whitehill, part pixie and part Fae, has been a staple of all the stories so far. He’s a gorgeous, genuinely happy , blue-haired, bartender with a mysterious predilection for anticipating the future. I love Emerys!

So great he’s getting his mate, especially when he was part of a mystery in the last storyline. It’s resolved here , btw.

That’s when his mate shows up in a totally unexpected role. Cyrus Rathbone, Hellhound and employee of the MOA. That’s the de facto Otherlings Judge/Jury/Jail/Execution Organization who handles all the affairs between species and races.

Seems sweet, adorable Emrys has been accused of multiple murders and his newly revealed mate is there to take him in.

Delicious.

It’s a fabulous story. Exciting, romance on the run, a relationship that’s growing through communication and discovery of remarkable talents. Steele incorporates characters from Grin and Bear It, as well as our usual beings.

Pixie Little Liar is one romantic entertaining, engaging romp. I adored every bit of it.

This series and characters are a real joy.

Meet Emrys and Cyrus. Enjoy their romance and relationship! I’m highly recommending them!

********** Contains Spoilers**********

I really enjoyed this book and thought that it was another good addition to the Blackhaven Manor Series. I liked being able to immerse myself in this magical world that Arden has created. This is a paranormal fated mates story between pixie Emrys and bounty hunter hellhound, Cyrus. Their relationship moves at warp speed which is expected. The last thing Emrys expected when he knew something big and life changing was coming was for him to meet his mate who walked into the hotel to arrest him for a murder he didn’t commit.

It doesn’t take long for Cyrus to realise that Emrys isn’t a murderer so the two have to work out who is targeting the pixie royal lineage and why have they targeted Emrys for the murder? I thought their chemistry was completely off the charts, I loved seeing Emrys’ powers evolve to what they always should’ve been. All I can say is that Emrys’ sperm donor is a complete and utter a*sehole. It was great getting to see Kit, Uri, Thorne & Wren again. I’m looking forward to reading Dead Over Heels next, as well as more books by Arden Steele in the future. I’d recommend this book, series and author to others.

Sweet little pixie!

First off the model on the cover is gorgeous and fits the Emrys character perfectly! I was so glad Emrys got his own story and HEA. He was always one of my favorite side characters in the other Black Haven Manor books. When he meets his mate, Cyrus, it is not the type fireworks one would normally expect. Nope, the hellhound has actually come to take the sweet and mild mannered pixie into custody for murder. That is just the beginning of all the craziness these two have to go through to prove that Emrys is innocent and bring the guilty party to the MOA. Needless to say they have help from some old friends along the way and we learn about Emrys family and wonky visions along the way. Just like all of our other mates, Cyrus is just as protective of his little pixie. It takes everything he has to keep his mate safe during all of the twists and turns they go through before finally getting settled. This was a great book to go along with the rest of the series I have thoroughly enjoyed.

Future talks

Emrys was missing for the last book which we quickly find out was due to a Big Family Secret. One that quickly comes to bite him in the ass as a bounty hunter comes to bring him in on charges for murder. But luckily Cyrus turns out to be his mate and the two are determined to figure out what is going on with the pixies and who is framing Emrys for murder.

This was a quick and easy read as Emrys and Cyrus have to head out on the road both on the run from danger and running towards uncertainty of a council ruling. The initial murder charge makes things a bit uncomfortable between the two but they quickly sort things out and begin to find that they work well together. They also easily imagine a life together if they can survive past the events happening. Luckily they have lots of friends to help out and plenty to live for. A fun read!

Pixie, Hellhound and fated mates

When I went into this book I really had no idea what to expect. The author, Arden Steele, was new to me, but the blurb was intriguing enough that I decided to take a chance. I'm so glad that I did! Pixie Little Liar is a wonderful book with fated mates and a royal murder mystery. The characters are quite engaging and likeable and the plot, while not overly unique, moves along at the perfect pace. I liked that part of the story takes place in and near New Orleans, and the author did a very good job at including some of the color and ambiance of the locale. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I will definitely check out others by the author. It was a fairly quick read that left me quite satisfied. 4.5* stars

Thank you for the ARC read, I voluntarily give this book an honest review.
Emry's finds his mate only to because he is wanted for murder, Cyrus isn't willing to just turn his pretty little pixie over to watch him found guilty of someone's crime but how to prove it was about to become a challenge as the leads point in the one direction that is hosted feared in the Otherling world. Luck maybe something that is gravely needed to survive this chessboard of life or death but luck just maybe on their side when they meet up with Emrys old friends in  Hunters Holow to figure out just who and why is framing Emrys.

absolutely fantastic and my favorite of the series!

This is a paranormal modern romance story, it is the fifth book of the Blackhaven Manor series and should be read in order. Hold smokes, this story really packed a punch! This series has grown on me with some great world building but the author really added depth and intrigue to this one and it’s my absolute favorite book of the series! If you haven’t read others in this series, trudge through book one and then sit back through a bunch of fun characters!

The best one

Although I've steadily been making my way through this series and all the books have been good, if not great, this one is so far the best one. All of these books have been good but pretty much wash rinse repeat, the same book just with a few different things but same guidelines. This book was different, fast pace, great plot not fully driven by love interest and even though I personally feel the climax could have been a little more exciting, it had a good finish that tied the story up nicely.

The books in this series go from good to better. Cyrus Rathborne is a bounty hunter sent to retrieve an employee at Blackhaevan Manor for the murder of a otherling royal. should be simple, however fate steps in and Emrys is Cyrus's fated mate. what was a clear cut assignment is not so clear cut and get messier as the story goes on. read how the two come together and solve the mystery of who wants Emrys out of the way and why. well written, similar in ways to the other books in teh series but with a different slant. read it and enjoy

I truly loved this very compelling addition to the Blackhaven Manor series. The characters were strong and the plot was riveting. Emrys (pixie) was wanted for murder, and Cyrus (hellhound) was there to take him in, although, that was when they both realized that they were mates, not to mention that Emrys was in danger. I loved their relationship and I loved the suspense from beginning to end. Excellent.

Emrys and Cyrus are fated mates that meet under very complicated circumstances. What would normally be a honeymoon phase after meeting their mate, these two instead have a cross country trip filled with danger and uncertainty. I loved how these two looked past their current situation and got to know each other on their journey. Even though there was danger, they were able to connect as mates and work together to secure their future.

Pixie Little Liar is another excellent book by Arden Steele. It's the fifth book in the Blackthorn Manor series. I loved Cyrus and Emrys. I loved the twists and turns in this book as I tried to figure out who was trying to frame and then kill Emrys. I loved also seeing the familiar people from the Blackthorn manor in Colorado and the new manor in Louisiana. I look forward to the next book in the series. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

I loved this story! It was so cute when big gruff Cy gave Emry a pet name. These two perfectly balance each other. Who would have guessed that Emry would be accused of murder? Now Cy is torn between his job of arresting Emry and bringing him into the Ministry and believing his mate is innocent. This is a who done it with romance and HEA

Pixie and Hellhound

I was thrilled for Emyrs story, I've been intrigued by the Pixie from the start. A bounty hunter is coming for the killer of two prince's, it's just not who they said it was. The pretty little pixie is his mate and innocent. A race to save him and find the real killer follows

such a disappointment

The book could have been great but it totally missed the mark. I don’t understand how the antagonist managed to do all they supposedly did and still work a job. It just didn’t make sense. Also I’m not one to yuck someone’s yum but the romance was disappointing.

This is just a cute a fun series that I am enjoying. I liked the characters and while it's a typical fated mates falling in love super fast I can get past that because I'm just enjoying the fun characters and entertaining plots. Although I would have liked a few more scenes with Cyrus as an actual hellhound. Looking forward to more in this series.

This is the newest in the Blackhaven Manor series and learning this world of Otherlings is fascinating. With each book the alpha males have become increasingly growl and protective. However, their mates most definitely hold their own. Emerys has a special kind of snark and he keeps Cyrus in line.

Love

Another beautiful story. This one was more fast paced (in a suspenseful way) and more steamy than the others but in general followed the same pattern. Fun, quick and delightful!

I liked this book. I was just a bit disappointed with who the main baddy ended being. I just didn't buy into how every thing shook out in the end but I did enjoy the journey.

Extremely cute. I very much enjoyed Cyrus and Emrys (and only just now realized how similar their names are. weird). I do have to say this, though:

Didn't see that coming

I think this is my favourite book of the series so far. It has the most in depth storyline. I've always loved Emerys and it was great to learn his back story and Cyrus has become a favourite now too

This was a snooze fest, there was no chemestry between them, the plot was there but wasn't well executed idk. I finished it just to not leave it incomplete and since is pretty short... of the books of this series this was the weakest

Engaging!

This is a fast paced tale of danger and spice with cameos from characters from previous books. Emrys and Cyrus worked well and I enjoyed the plot. I like that there are actual plots to this series and the spice doesn’t overwhelm.
