Be prepared to fight, it's the only option.
BOOK 1 - DISCIPLINE Not every fairytale has a happily ever after… For the first time in hundreds of years, the five kingdoms were at peace. United by the band of young heroes who'd won the Great War, the realm had entered a time of wealth and prosperity unlike anything it had known before. New families. New Beginnings. Old alliances were on the mend. But such a thing can never last. When Katerina and Dylan's teenage daughter finds herself at the center of a strange prediction, she and her friends are swept away on a wild adventure that may very well claim all of their lives. Old evils are lurking the shadows. A secret new darkness is waiting to take hold. Can the new band of heroes stop it in time? Or has their happily ever after finally come to an end?
BOOK 2 - BRAVERY How long can you outrun your fate? When Evie and her friends set out to fulfill a long-awaited prophecy, they never thought their adventure would turn into a nightmare before their very eyes. Trapped in a cavern beneath the ground, they find themselves going up against a creature so twisted and terrible, they wouldn't have believed it was real. Their strength is tested and friendships are strained. But as they soon discover, the creature was the least of their problems. The world is shifting. Shadows and darkness are entering the land. Rumors are whispering around the remaining kingdoms. Rumors of a dark and powerful stone. Can the friends find it in time? Or are some prophecies never meant to be?
BOOK 3 - COURAGE How time flies… When Evie and her friends find themselves trapped in the sorcerer's cave, they think all is lost. But rescue comes from the most unlikely of people. And with it comes the most terrible truth. With the five kingdoms divided and the realm on the verge of collapse, the prophecy is more urgent than ever. But the road is treacherous and the friends are on the other side of the realm. New alliances must be forged and friendships are tested as they set off to fulfill their destiny, only to find that the fates may have something different in store. Is it possible to pick up the pieces and start again? Can the friends get to the Dunes and find the missing stone in time? More importantly… …are some sins too terrible to forgive?
Be careful who you trust. Even the devil was once an angel.
Wanita May grew up in the fruit belt of Ontario - St.Catharines. Crazy-happy childhood, she always has had a vivid imagination and loads of energy.
The youngest of six -- four older brothers, and a sister -- taught her at a young age to be competitive in all aspects of life.
At sixteen, she began competing in athletics (track and field) and before she turned seventeen, she was representing Canada in high jump. She continued to compete, breaking Canada's JR High Jump record (1.92m - 6' 3 1/2" for those metric-ly challenged). She attented University of Toronto, and Kansas State University - winning CIAU's and becoming All-American 6x - NCAA Indoors Runner Up + more.
But you're not interested in her athletic career - unless of course you're curious to know she stands 1.70m (5'7") and has jumped 20cm over her head on more than one occassion. She's represented Canada at the World Championships, World Jrs., won Francophone Games, and loved every minute of every competition. From the grueling workouts, the crazy weights she lifted on her back, the days she thought her lungs were going to spit out of her mouth for lack of oxygen, the travelling around the world and the opportunity to read - her favourite past time.
Life continued with her husband (a distance runner from Liverpool, UK, who she met at KSU) and then their first, then second and finally third child. Their house became full of more imagination and stories.
Wanita and her husband run an online business, dealing in antiques and collectables - particularly jewelry and porcelain (one of the business' website: www.wadeincanada.com ).
After her father passed away in 2009, from a six-year battle with cancer (which she still believes he won the fight against), she began to write again. A passion she'd loved for years, but realized life was too short to keep putting it off.
Her first book, Rae of Hope - from the Chronicles of Kerrigan - will be available October 2011 by kNight Romance Publishing.
She is currently represented by Dawn Dowdle of Blue Ridge Literary Agency. Wanita is a writer of Young Adult, Fantasy Fiction and where ever else her little muses take her.
Amateur writing; needs lots of editing; stopped at 4%
Sigh. While the story may have potential, the writing is plagued with helping verbs, passive voice constructions, and grammar errors.
In addition, there is an entire cast of characters presented all at once with info-dumping/backstory moments that weigh down the energy of the plot. Is this a sequel series?
The characters all seem to have twinkling eyes, are good-looking and smile at each other. Gah.
I feel like I need to play editor while reading this, and that sucks all the joy out of the story.
Maybe after professional editing, I’ll try this again.
Everly, Evie as she is called by her close friends and family, Asher and Elenden are three heirs to four different kingdoms. Evie is princesse to the kingdom of Wolves as well as the kingdom of Dragons by birth. Elenden is the prince of the Fae kingdom and Asher is the prince of the kingdom of Vampires.
They have known each other since the beginning of their lives, have played and trained for combat and all disciplines for as long.
During a banquet given to celebrate their teens, the palace is attacked and all three are sent away to ensure their safety. However, they are also attacked on the road to a safe place and vanquish their foes. It is at that time, that they decide to follow the clues written as a prophecy in order to secure some sort of artifact that, if the prophecy is accurate, will save the world.
Bravery
One would think that after vanquishing the Basilisk while Asher is lying unconscious and Landy is close to death, that Evie would get a break. That's not the way things go in the author's imagination.
Evie must come to grips with the fact that she has gone through her first shift. Then, she must keep Asher away from Elander as the Fae's magic blood is almost irresistible to the vampire. Finally, Evie must find a way to cure Elander and then figure out how to return to her human form.
Courage
Evie, Asher and Elanden are finally rid of the witch that was keeping them captive and had devised a plan to sell them against a posted bounty to mercenaries, thus bypassing any possible retributions from their royal parents. With the help of the 6 years old Freya, the witches' slave, they have killed the witch and taken Freya to the nearest village and next stop on their quest itinerary.
Once they arrive at the time when they must leave, they find a great home with loving parents for Freya and say their tear filled goodbyes to the young child with the promise that they will be back to see her soon.
Just outside the village, they are caught in a freak storm and invited into a shelter by what appears to be a kind older gentleman. He will play an important role in this period of their lives where they three will not age but others will.
The biggest surprised is being rescued by unrecognizable but close acquaintances. Consequently they will, now, be 5 travelling together and romances will start to form.
This great author has written a series' three unit book set that I have chosen to review individuality and , that is filled with challenge after challenge as well as disturbing news and a certain amount of resentment,by others for the trio and the young teenage Fae prince as well as shifter princess in particular. As if the suspense wasn't enough, she adds witches and sorcerers, undead creatures ( not of the vampire kind) , into the mix, seasoned with bounty hunters to stimulate the reader's appetite and succeeds in creating this action filled series third book that quickly becomes a page turner and that I highly recommend as well as rate with 5 Stars.
I slogged through it… Some tense moments along with a little bit of levity. Many adventures and even a brush with a sorcerer, well more than a brush as they each suffered under his ministrations for quite awhile. I’m done with these first three books in this series and also done with this whole series even though there are many to follow. I’m not interested in reading any further. Don’t want anymore cliffhangers. These adventurists find themselves in quite a pickle often times and somehow manage to escape and continue on. Many surprises and turns of events some not even an explanation about what might have happened. I’m really not interested in reading it anymore even though I continued to slog through it. But this is the last one I will slog through.
Had the potential to be a stunning epic saga reminiscent of Homer. Unfortunately the main characters make repeated TSTL decisions, and each story ends abruptly in a nasty cliffhanger. If this weren't a 3 book box set, I wouldn't have read even the second one. However, I read all three, treating them like a single three part book so only the final cliffhanger left me annoyed.
PG13 for violence, some language. No sex. Despite repeated potential for lessons learned, main characters stubbornly remained TSTL.
Complete waste of time and money (and ebook storage). One minute the characters were travelling (though, not clear why their parents could not keep them safe in their own kingdoms under their watch), the. The next fighting mountain tribe warriors —- who just disappear from the story…then drowning and rescued by nymphs, then to a bar/pub, then meeting an old couple who cook them stew….huh? Many times, i found myself asking “so whats the point” or “ok, how’s that connected”. Total waste.
I absolutely loathe when a story stops in the middle in order to convince you to buy the next book. If I'm going to read the next book, then I'm going to read the next book and if I'm not, I'm not. Stopping in the middle of the plot just makes me mad. Suffice to say that even if I enjoyed the story, I won't be reading any more.
Three well-written YA paranormal stories about a shifter, a fae, and a vampire sent on a quest to save the world as their parents had done before them. Great characters and full of plot twists. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series. I highly recommend.
Five stars as I could not put this set down. From the beginning I was captured by the pace, the characters and the dynamics of the characters. The story was one of fiction but it is a story of good and bad, with some mysticism and magic thrown in. The main characters are close and their bond is tried through these books but...well read for yourself.
I read of the first three books of this series in two days. The characters are lovable, the quest seems impossible, but they push on. The dynamics lead to interesting and often fun dialogue. Starting the fourth book as soon as I post this review. If you like coming of age, fantasy and/or quests, you'll surely find something in this book to love.
But it was intriguing enough to keep me reading. I was a bit annoyed at some of the actions that the main characters took because those actions seemed to obviously be the wrong plan of action. The only thing that saved those moments were that the characters seemed to agree after the fact.
Well written with a good plot, hard to put down once started. Excellent character development and the author takes the time so that you feel like you know the characters. Well placed cliff hanger at the end, can't wait to read more.
I found myself extremely invested in this story. It was difficult to put down. I’m really glad I got three books in one to start out with, as I easily found myself picturing the scenes and horrors they went through.
I loved this book! The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the books felt to short. The first 3 books were free on kindle so I read them but after the third book it made me want to read more. Great book for people that like adventure!
Dnf. I didn't like the book one bit, even though the plot seemed promising. The writing is bad, there is a lot of info dumping without explaining the working of the world and too many characters all at once.
This book is the first in a long time Where the people have to come into there powers instead of already having them. And each book is a mystery into its self.
In the beginning the book was a little slow to start for me. The further I got into the book it drew my interest. I like all the twists and turns. The things they come upon as they are on their journey. I would recommend these books for teenagers and young adults. I will be reading the other books to this series. I chose this rating, because it kept my interest and wanted to know more of what happens.
